I’ve made a few of those in my day 😊. Made a few spearguns as well. Lots of great info here. Florida Freedivers is an awesome store. Thank you for taking us along. ❤
Ever since I saw yer clip of powerspearing fish with Bullsharks everywhere I was hooked. Saw yer Sling got me thinking it was much more attainable for a start. Now I'm set on trying next Summer. Up in Canada our waters cold!
That's awesome to hear I'm glad I could be a little bit of inspiration exclamation point I don't do well in cold water so I don't blame you for not trying up where you're at. Haha
@DavidMaruca_ it would be super tough to manage all the line between your belt and when u extend for a fish. It wouldn't use it that way as an option, but u could try it!
I'm back ... and the shaft will gooo - I'm excited to see how this thing works ... me to Cap!! How about black bottom paint with a lightening bolt on the side? Agree high vis line a must. Hey Jack, great fun hanging out in the shop doing such "high end" work to the thousandths of an inch with two master craftsmen. I'm honored to be here. That was a great dive in the 70's poking around the reef to find that Grouper(?), very cool. Could you use a Subnato with that rig. I see what you've been saying about conserving energy with the Sub. That was a labor intensive dive. Stay well guys and have a blast. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Great shop technique. Seal that thing up right and it should last forever by replacing the band's now and then. I'm sure people are going to use the design since you showed them it works.😊
Great video, I have the Headhunter sling, with the reel, and had the line wrapping issue several times, so stopped using it. lost a 60lb Cobia this year, having to put so much pressure on it when a loop caught on the reel handle. Actually shot it from the surface, so that was a plus, otherwise likely would have lost the whole set up. Can you show a close up of how that omer reel line holder works? At the very least, great idea on the line guide and mono leader!!!!!!
Since you use pole spears and slings, which is better? I grew up using spearguns. I’ve been trying out 6’ pole spears lately. Little under powered with a short range compared to a gun, but fun. I have been interested in the 9’ spears since seeing other headhunter videos online. This is the first Hawaiian sling video I’ve seen.
A great idea guy's something to think about. However been raining all summer here in Ayr Scotland, And the wind for the middle of summer is freezing and blowing at 32mph. catch up with you all in your next video. bye.

definitely gonna try the worm-band (pipe clamp) method with these, looks like a breeze to set up.
Absolutely!
What do yall recommend regarding the reel being attached to your belt vs being fitted to the sling?

Thank you for the video. Happy fishing. Great pistol. Small, compact, gets the job done.

@@DwightPerkins-i7t absolutely! I do know that it's tougher than it looks, but way more affordable than other options👍👍
@@CaptainJackSpearo I'm a gunsmith, so believe me I know the work involved takes skill👍👍

I made it bit seems to lack power - what is the thickness & length of the spear and diameter of the wood and rubber?
I forget but I mentioned it in the video
Bro I’m just over here wondering when I get to come be the boat guy again on a Bahamas trip
Since you use pole spears and slings, which is better?

Polespears with the tech now are def more effective. But it's fun using the sling
Thank you for a very informative video. Could you please share the name of the reel you're using there? I didn't catch it the first time.
I’m trying to make a trip to Bahamas via plane and rent a boat for spearing. Any recommendations? Hotel and boat.
Where in the bahamas?
@@CaptainJackSpearo open for suggestions. Bimini maybe ? Or somewhere else maybe cheaper to stay ?
Try lignum vitae wood for the sling if you can get a piece the right size. That heavy dense wood is great for Hawaiian slings.
Good to know!🤙🤙
Is there an email where I can send you some dive site coordinates?
@geoffhunt7965 oh yea! It's in the description of my videos!
@@CaptainJackSpearo ok, I sent via email
Great video 👍Perfect 👍
Catching this too late. Will watch tomorrow. Great idea for a video.
PS:
What level or courses do you teach at?
See you tomorrow.
Sweet! It'll be here tomorrow! I don't teach, but was thinking about it!🤔

Nice video sir
Love from 🇵🇰 Pakistan
What size spear is best?
I usually stick with a 7mm
Do you do these and sell out of the country?
Is that squeaking your ears? Mine do that too. I didnt think anyone else could hear it.
Nothing about this video is home made
Yeah they say home made then go to the store and buy everything and put it on a block of wood and say it's home made
