JediKnightwing Red army wasn’t communist, it’s like saying the Wehrmacht were Nazis, both of the militaries were manipulated by their ideal state of government.
D . S false lol the Red Army were originally a volunteer group for people who supported communism and wanted to establish a communist government. And either way, they are ordered to represent and fight under a communist government. So who is and who isn’t a communist is irrelevant to this guy’s original comment
@ So just because they have the word "red" you presume it to be communist? Ok, lets also not forget how the Wehrmacht carried flags with swastikas on them and swore oaths to Hitler, does that make them Nazis too? Both armies mass conscripted their men, of which many of them didn't follow the ideals of their government, but rather fought for one side in order to die as heroes for their land.
@@KiloMafia9 Bud were talking about the WW2 factor here, and it's not like the red army mass conscripted their men just like the Wehrmacht, of which many of them didn't follow the ideals of their government, but rather fought for their land and honour. @M. Woller History is not all black and white as it appears. There are many grey areas and the life Lauri Törni / Larry Thorne is one of them. Great stories require conflict.

@@allmight6451 "Determined to fight commies 'till death", doesn't sound like "determined to fight communistic oppression" to me bud, as he's "obviously" referring to the red army, heretofore my explanation as to how one's ideal state of government is different military wise, considering the military doesn't uphold any ideals, but is only manipulated by one's government for their own benefit. You're right, after the communistic government uses the military to gain a bunch of ground, sure the government will initiate some communist rule, but he wasn't directly referring to that, otherwise his comment would have made much sense.
Eirik Schølseth no? What did all his enemies have in common? Bolshevism... Socialism... Communism... he fought against the worst forms of government known to man
BJJMTF - How are you getting to this conclusion? When he was fighting in Finland he fought for Finland against an invading force. Then again he fought to repel the same forces out of the annexed zones. The enemy was Russia, that also happened to be a communist state.. If you say that he fought against communism he would have to be fighting FOR another doctrine, then.. So no.
@@maxfrankow1238 imagine what would happen if yhe Russian government decided to say that estonia or something loved them..... I wouldn't be surprised after they recently literally denied the existence of the Molotov ribbentrov pact. The baltic and finnish people would go sicko mode.
I’m from Finland, been in the military for over two years, conscript and professional soldier, volunteer troops for several years after. I also served my duty in Finnish-Swedish troops, worked with the French, Swedish, Austrian and EU troops, in Finland and in Africa. I even share the same name Lauri, and our family roots come from same place. My grandfather was born almost the same year as him, comes from the same city Viipuri, and fought in the same battles for Finland in the WWII frontlines against the Soviet Union. However, even as we all should salute Lauri Törni’s military skills and bravery in the battle, I think he shouldn’t be seen only as a war hero, but also a war maniac with a very unbalanced mind and character. A person who was badly obsessed with warfare and fighting, incapable of settling any regular, sustainable life or a family, and constantly seeming to escape it and its challenges. Törni truly was a remarkable soldier and probably most happy doing it. Unlike many people consider here, fighting communism is not considered his main motivator, but to get into fights, warfare and use and develop his military skills. Finland just happened to be the country he was born, and the steam of life and a few destiny’s coincidences took him also to Germany - and to the U.S. No doubt about Törni deserves all the metals and honors for military actions, bravery and ability he showed n the battlefield. No doubt about that he lived a really remarkable life, worth a movie, TH-cam videos and several iconic stories. No doubt that he is a military hero in so many senses. However Törni was also an obsessed war maniac, far from the lifestyle I’d like my kids or anybody to idolize. It is really sad to be driven into the wheel of military zealousness, where you are a “prisoner” for the rest of your life and cannot get out of. Respect and salute for the bravery and honors of Lauri Törni, but don’t idolize his character too much. In the end he’s one of those Universal Soldiers who we have too much in the world, a sad figure, whom we should help to get out of the traumatized warring mindset.
@@Enzo012 This one right here.
*PINOCHET WANTS TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION*
D . S obviously, he means he was fighting against communist rule
Renegade we need more hero’s like him.
