i was sold on the soundcore 300 up until i found it has no aux in for low latency? im a dj/music producer really like the idea of full parametric eq of the sound for flat tuning, do you have a recomendation something that would achieve this,
NOT a long video at all!, Infact very Informative. Thank you. I prefer the Soundcore 300 because of it's very good App and the Price. Good bang for the buck.
Thank you, Alan, for the excellent review. I'll delay my speaker purchase until you've had a chance to assess the speaker with your optimized equalizer settings. Your settings made a night-and-day difference with the Motion +.
Soundcore Motion 300 is, for me, the best here. The stereo separation is all the difference ! excellent speaker. I will buy it when it's released here in France. Thanks for this excellent video Alan !
what’s really apparently listening to all these comparisons, is just how much better the music sounds and how much more detail comes through with the Soundcore BECAUSE of the stereo speakers. For me this is a must have feature in any speaker system, and removes the other options from consideration at all.
Great video, only reviewer I fully trust on Bluetooth speakers! Motion 300 sounded better at lower volumes but still prefer the Bose Flex overall - better for travel and low latency. Worth mentioning you can get the Flex for £79.95 refurbished direct from Bose, which is a great price, might be worth putting up a link?
@@alanrossreviews finally motion plus is available in India but now I am confused between bose flex or motion plus.I would really appreciate if you suggest which one I should buy.
TH-cam is getting so bad with shills these days and needs to sort it out. It's pretty much turned into a shopping channel and full of nothing but hidden adverts. Creators should tell viewers if it is a paid promotion, been gifted for free or purchased themselves.
Long post alert for the benefit of all after personally doing a blind test between Bose, Marshall, and Soundcore: I was looking to buy a Bluetooth speaker recently and saw a lot of TH-cam reviews on Bluetooth speakers - particularly Bose Flex and Marshall. I finally went to a store in Dubai and checked out Bose SL Flex, Bose Revolve plus 2, Marshall Emberton, Bose SL Mini 2 (SE), Soundcore Motion plus, Soundcore x600 and Soundcore Motion 300. I took a friend of mine and did a blind test with him, switching the sound between multiple speakers. My thoughts: Bose SL Flex vs Revolve plus vs SL Mini 2: Flex was smaller, but it gave stiff competition to Revolve in the sound dept, in fact sounding better than Revolve sometimes. The revolve has a very sweet tone and we felt it polishes the harsh sounds and gives out a smooth output, which you may not want while listening to say a live concert. The Flex may not be as sweet but it had incredible clarity and fullness, and given the price difference it did not make sense to go with the more expensive Revolve which was 2x the price of Flex. The Revolve’s micro USB proprietary charging was also a put off for me. The Mini 2 Special Edition was crap as I could barely hear its sound even in that small glass room. Vs The Souncore x600: x600 sounded great with the Spatial audio on, but it's not as portable, and didn't sound as good without Spatial Audio. Vs Marshall Emberton 2: Emberton was good but it simply could not match upto the Flex in giving those punchy outputs with clarity. Flex vs Motion 300: I was almost sure to buy the Bose Flex by now, and for the heck of it I tried the Soundcore Motion 300. I was blown away by Motion 300's clarity and power given that it's much cheaper than the Bose Flex. We played Hotel California, some Bollywood songs, instrumental music and chants on all speakers, and Motion 300 competed neck to neck with Revolve and Flex, in fact sounding better many a time. My friend who came along with me is into music production, and even he was surprised by the loudness and clarity of sound reproduction by Motion 300. It sounded better than Revolve most of the times, and went neck to neck with Flex (sometimes sounding even better). I finally ended up buying the Motion 300, and super happy for the purchase. I am sure there are better speakers out there but those could be more expensive. Motion 300 to me gave the best bang for the buck without compromising on sound quality. Negatives: My only big gripe is that both the Flex and Motion 300 don’t come with the 3.5 aux input (damn you Apple for starting this trend). And Motion 300 is a heavy speaker which is surprising given its size. I am not a sound expert but sharing my honest views as an average listener. Hope this helps
Very well done comparison between the 3 speakers. And I totally agree with you on one point in particular and thats the gripe element..I really needed that 3.5mm Aux port..it might be a deal breaker for me as far as Motion 300 is concerned..I almost bought Motion 300 but held back because of the lack of 3.5mm aux port..I finally settled for 2 Tribit Flow speakers, in stereo mode, where Im not having to push them too hard, say, abv 60-65% volume tops. Not my finest purchase but if only Motion 300 had 3.5mm port, i'd have most certainly gone for it. Cheers! P.S.: I also got a pair of Earfun Uboom Ls and I have to say, they sound mighty good, punches way above their weight and l really like Uboom L's sound signature..its punchy and weighty..using the pair in stereo mode..very happy and satisfied with this purchase compared to the Tribit Flow.
I ordered a Motion 300 a couple days ago and just received it. I like how it's not a clone of the Bose Flex with the stereo speakers. Plus a decent size battery, I think it looks cooler and it's cheaper. I think the extra bit of weight makes it feel solid. The app is useful as well. All the EQ settings, you can adjust the brightness of the buttons, you can turn off the start up sound (YES!). No where to plug in my karaoke mic but you can't have everything for 80 dollars!
Although a bit schizophrenic, I believe you are the most comprehensive and trustworthy reviewer. You really know what you're talking about! I love the techie talk for layman's approach.
What a nice surprise from soundcore, a small stereo speaker in 2023, I like it 🥳How much can you do with an equaliser Alan? Thank you for such a detailed overview and comparison! 👌
no eq till firmware is mature. ive been burned too many times wasting too many hours only for eq to change with soundcore. the x600 still has 9 different tunings out there, Soundcore are a crazy bunch these days.
Great vid man. A lot of info all at once, but I do like it. Did go for the 300 too. Mainly for the price and will fit in the man purse. Patients do love the music when can give them outside time
I have the Motion+ and have used it every day at work for a year or so now and have had a few others but keep coming back to it. Is there anything that is in the same size range and/or price range that competes with it? I wonder why there aren't more speakers with more defined tweeters in addition to the standard speaker arrays so commonly offered. I got the boombox looking Motion offering and it was such a direct step back from the Motion+, immediate return. But yeah, seeing these it piqued my interest and was curious as to what else is out there similar to the Motion+ or a little better but still in the same general form factor. Heck, for that matter, I'd like to see you do an update to the Pound For Pound series, see where all these things are actually chalking in at, those were super useful videos I felt. Great work as always, quality content.
Im on same scenario. I use the Motion+ daily and its so nice balanced. But I have a feeling the X500 may be the best competitor to the Motion+. Although im not thrilling about the form factor of the x500. But I will not upgrade anytime soon anyway...
Bose's aesthetic design, metal build, feel of use, weight, size, sound, and no need to EQ in different placements, and overall experience seems to be beyond Soundcore. I LOVE Soundcore, and for a budget travel speaker for sure it's the one, for actual bang for the buck, Bose seems to be the one. I still use my Motion+ daily and won't replace it, due to new bluetooth speakers abandoning the aux input. A critical feature for musicians/producers/etc.
I have the flex and now i just got the 300. The bose flex was the clear winner for me.. .. Until i adjusted the EQ to my style in the app for the 300... Now holy smokes the 300 sounds incredible. I absolutely love it. Crazy good value for only 80$. Feels and sounds like premium product. . very impressed with the 300. Have to hear in person and will be blown away. I love ur videos alan! Great great work.
Mind sharing your EQ numbers if possible bro? Albeit it depends what genre you play I guess... Love to know however! No worries if not, but tedious to go to and from the app to type the numbers
Been watching you for quite some time, I absolutely love your honesty. So many others have become dishonest and pushing sponsors. I picked up the Flex and it's been fantastic!!
Thank you Alan ❤ I was hoping for a comparison between the Flow and the Motion 300 and you even threw in the Flex in, for an in depth comparison 🙏 The Soundcore Motion 300 surprised me in a good way here, I was expecting weaker, distorted bass from samples in some other videos but it goes a tad lower and plays somewhat clean instead here. Its midrange sounds fairly musical, with a sort of reasonable frequency response and possibly lower intermodal distortion than the others. That'll be my choice then! Do you think it's possible to make its frequency response flat with the semi-parametric EQ? I calibrate all my speakers with REW & UMIK-1 so I plan to do the same with that one 😄 Shame that the Q of each band can't be adjusted, it wouldn't be particularly hard to implement.
these speakers all sound dull as hell when really tuned flat, there isnt the dynamics or actual range in such tiny speakers to be able go that route. what you end up doing is simply layering eq upon eq which ends up a mess. using their own app you dont have the leeway to go full flat. of course if you smooth the hell out of it on a graph you can appear flat but really its still wavy without smoothing, remember their so called parametric eq is based on signature mode, you dont get a blank canvass to tune. if you stick this in xtra bass mode and fire some bass heavy tracks at it you will still hear some overdriving, its not totally clean sounding, signature mode is ok though.
@@alanrossreviews I don't think a speaker would necessarily sound dull when tuned for an accurate/flat frequency response. But then for speakers where the bass rolls off above 60Hz or higher I agree it's favorable to boost it in order to simulate a neutral tonal balance. Probably it helps to increase high frequencies on that one as well as they drop quickly off-axis with this type of driver, also to keep a neutral tonal balance when factoring room reflections. I guess I agree with you then 😄 and look forward to play with it. On EQ over EQ, that's not a problem. Only the phase response gets a bit messed from the many IIR filters adding up but you typically can't hear that. Can you get a coupon / affiliate link? I'd like to order it in a way that benefits you.
@@supercurioTube no small speaker is tuned flat for a reason. Every speaker i hear called neutral or flat is either bass light and/or has a high end boost. You need full range larger speakers imho as i said. I think i flogged this one to death but flat by what measurement? A sine wave 1m sweep? Honestly that myth is so flawed. So many factors demolish that myth not least the size of bass waves and how they have to be measured seperatly and spliced in. Flat by industry standard is a useful starting point to understand how it would sound within parameters in a given location.
@@alanrossreviews ah yes it's wise to define what's meant by "flat" first, because everyone has their own definition. For me that would be targeting +-1dB or less around 0db flat line on an average of on-axis & off-axis measurements, for the speaker response itself (in anechoic conditions) For indoors conditions, I typically prefer letting the room do its thing, until the bass where I will correct for obvious room resonances. For speakers that can be anywhere, well that's clearly more complicated 😄 But you often see speakers tuning that mix in room, boundary or off-axis corrections in with a lot of assumptions baked in. I wouldn't swear too much by industry standard tho after having worked at a speaker company for a few years (you reviewed some of their products). A lot of the sound engineering there was about randomly guessing what is "popular" without actual research, data or process, or loosely copying what competitors do. Sometimes matching what 1 guy with a "golden ear" decided it has to be. So .. yeah.
I'm here deciding between Motion 300 and Flex as a gift for my dad. Right now, the 300 is on sale in Canada for CA$80 vs Flex at CA$190. I watched your video through to end (excellent analysis and commentary btw) and got a sense of your opinion about each speaker. However, my question is, is Flex CA$110 better than 300 (or if at all)?
I want to upgrade my Wonder boom 2 portable speaker, Soundcore Motion 300 would be ok on my belt or on my bag, not too big. Will it be better than a Wonder Boom 2, both 30watts I think.
22:18 I agree,I had heard flex and it does sound cleaner but i always felt the lack of fullness because of the v shape, the mids didnt feel like in sifficient amount.
im listening on the jbl lsr305 monitors which are ultra flat, and WOW you can tell the difference in your audio demo, the motion has the most accurate studio like sound. honestly you could probally produce/mix with these , minus the lack of super low latency
I think that's over stating it a little 😊 i mean no deep bass, bit bright, distorts when pushed but for what it is then its decent value. Better to mix with decent headphones id say.
@@alanrossreviews well you absolutley could be right, as im only commenting on how your mic picked up the speaker as well as how it plays back on my studio monitors, it almost sounded as if i were listening to track its self and not a speaker recording, is there one a flat speaker you recomend?
@@mikeriverajr4447 the issue with Bluetooth speakers with heavy dsp is that the response changes at every volume. Im not sure if you are mixing for fun or work? I mean sure check your mix on these but they can't replace studio monitors. Think of the volume these small speakers can reach, it is miniscule compared to the levels most hifi listeners will be at given the distance they listen at. It just doesn't transfer. Id only mix with the go play 3 that ive personally heard because it can get down to like 50hz and be pretty linear in a well treated room. Thats something to consider, my recordings are all in a well treated room.
@@alanrossreviews there is technically 3 goals, 1st I am in love with ruler flat, accurate time aligned , non phase combed sound. . truth is im kinda spoiled with this, and my ears are trained where i can point out the flaws in each frequency region by ear, this has brought me to the hobby of dsp for tuning non flat speakers to be flat. a paramatric eq with selectable bands is a very power full tool.especially in the right hands or even better with "REW" and a umik-1. AlsoI am a DJ/producer , so to have a pair of ultra low latency flat and accurate speakers for small get toghters or portable music production would be a Godsend. . . i guess im looking for a swiss army knife of speakers, 1] Flat accurate sound 2]True stereo pairing 3]ultra low latency for live performance dj/mixing [sub 10ms] aux port is the only way i know to achieve this] however the flip has a usb C soundcard mode which i suspect is low latency 4] Dsp -parametric eq, if a speaker is flat this is not needed, 5]sub 100$ as i wish to get 2 of them so looking to spend less than 200 total
For the people having the TRIBIT.. Does your unit make a bit of interference sound? you can check it by putting it next to your ear when listening to a yt video and then stopping the video, on mine it does just a little bit of sound for 5 seconds and then turns off.
Just discovered you on here.. already for the soundcore but was just looking for more info about the EQ and I think I found it. It wasn’t clear in the app if you could alter the presets or if the custom settings always start with a blank slate. Anyway… I love your level of detail and you clearly have a lot of knowledge. I can see how you are thinking and how you’re thinking of ways to put your thoughts in words… I know you have notes but it’s great that it’s not scripted. Brilliant content!!!
I’m shocked you gave props to the Soundcore 3. If memory serves me you weren’t feeling that speaker when you tested it. Mind you I love the Soundcore 3 and I think it’s kinda underrated when it comes to SoundCore’s speaker lineup. I use it on the regular for low level listening when I’m going beddy-by ☺️ and I’m more than satisfied with it
you have a good memory, after tweaking custom eq it grew on me, overshadowed by the boost but when you dont want a bass heavy sound the soundcore 3 is an alternative to the maxsound plus
YOU GUYS SHOULD PLAY SORRY NOT SORRY BY DEMI LOVATO ON THE SOUNDCORE MOTION 300 IN SOUNDCORE’S SIGNATURE SOUND MODE AT MAX VOLUME AND HEAR THE DISTORTION THAT THE SPEAKER HAS. HOPEFULLY THEY CAN DO SOME SORT OF SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT CAN FIX MOST OF THE DISTORTION THAT THIS SPEAKER HAS. I’D SAY LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE SONG. THANK YOU
They seem to act like they care when I talk to the soundcore support team but it doesn’t seem they are really doing anything about it. But what can they do anyways?
@@alanrossreviews yes, and that latency issue that is common in 90% of the Chinese speakers is a deal breaker for me. I don't want to watch Alan Ross talking with a delay as if I'm watching a 70's martial arts movie.
Oluv has a great set of custom eqs for $4. My favorite is his "UBoom L" tunings, which gave it detail and brightness in the right areas. I modified it myself to reduce the bass, because I still found it to be too boomy for my ears (just like the Signature tuning). After that, I find it to be a night and day difference in sound quality, not to mention there's no more distracting distortion at highest levels
just bought the flex, still w8ing for the 300 here in the philippines, for me the advantage of the 300 is the stereo separation, maybe next yr the x600 gonna drop its price and that's my wish list next xmas
Hi... Finally you have the 300..I like the speaker. I bought it..also I have it for work..I compared with jbl6 and it kik ass,to the jbl6.. Now soundcore is coming with the 500.. But is more for a office speaker..but I believe is going to sound good.. Like you said... Is a Money Market.... Hope to see you,on your next video.. Buena Suerte...
Hi.. Do you know that the soundcore boost. Gives a competition to the 300. I believe is a excellent speaker, for his size and if want to listen spatial audio on the boom... I put it inside on a empty bucket 🪣. The eco is spectacular..plus as you know..this speaker has good base..
I want to buy a speaker from this category, and I am thinking about Motion 300 (maybe also due to its actual price - 67 EUR/57 GBP). I am aware of its issues (more or less, because I never heard it in reality). But I want a speaker with some mids and hights as well. It will play at least 12/24 hours day/night in the living room, all genres, plus vocals and instruments, mostly at low volume (ocassionally mid volume). Bose Sound Flex is nice, but I feel like the bass is too much (plus almost triple price, mono...). Although Sound Flex and Charge 5 are maybe flagships, and I love them, I feel like I need something else. But I am afraid Motion 300 might be too much of something else (or too less actually). However, I want a little feel of bass filling the room. I want to use its signature EQ because I keep changing the BT source between multiple smartphones and laptops. That's why I don't want to consider its app. By the way, do you know if Motion 300 runs ok while being constantly on charging? (I know some speakers either don't function, either have a background noise while charging).
When you pair 2, what would be better for watching videos? Where ist the latency better with 2 speakers paired? How ist the latency on the Bose Soundlink Flex? I am afraid to buy it due to Bluetooth 4.2 and just SBC codec,. I tried Bose Soundlink Flex from a friend on my MacBook but even with one (without party mode) the latency was noticeable when I was watching videos. I am traveling a lot and I would use 2x where I live and 1x on the road. The latency on Android should be much better than with IOS? Why is Latency on IOS always so bad with bluetooth speakers. Is the Flip 6 better in this regard? Somehow I think it sounds better than the Bose after trying it out at an electronics store. The Flip 6 sounds more clearer and crispier to me but has less bass than the Bose Soundlink Flex. You can EQ the Flip 6 and improve the bass and it works somehow pretty well. How would the Flip 6 be in stereo? Or is it maybe better just to buy a Charge 5? Is the increase in weight worth it and will the sound quality be much better? I think about gotten 2x Flip 6, 2x Bose Soundlink Flex or 1x Charge 5. Could you help me with my decision? What would you recommend for listening to classical music? I also won't charge my phone or use the Charge 5 as a power bank ever. For me sound quality ist the most important thing followed by latency because I watch movies and videos, too. Thank you very much in advance Alan.
@@alanrossreviews thx for the reply. Where can I find the latency for Android and IOS for Bose Soundlink Flex, Flip 6 and Charge 5? As a single speaker without tuning and/or flashing the Charge 5 is probably the best of them? Would you say that the increase in sound quality is worth the increase in weight compared to Bose Soundlink Flex?
Al, might be a sily question, but see at 100% volume could you in theory drag the mids and highs down in custom EQ for the motion 300 and flex to make it less harsh at full blast? I know you couldnt match the bass of the bose at 100% but wondering if you could make the frequency response a bit more flatter sounding by sacrificing the voulume
Yes and thats nearly always the case. Bose chose to go that route with the flex. The harshness is due to bright tuning. Some tracks you won't notice but any bright tracks will sound horrendous
@@alanrossreviews awesome thanks for the response mate! I'd say I'll do most of my listing at around 60% anyway but good to know if I need to push it it won't sound like too much of a bag of cats
So i believe there is a "balanced" eq preset on the Motion 300. I don't suppose that really lives up to it's name, does it? Coming from someone who largely listen to 70s and 80s rock/metal and the pop scene of that age with an occasional embrace of the alternative scene of the 90s. I do like me some bass guitar, strong snare hits, and very detailed guitars and cymbals-- but it would be a bonus if the vocals were evenly presented alongside those other things as well 😅
@@alanrossreviewsSo far I like it but I'm still playing with the EQ for a "flat" or "neutral" sound-- I don't know if you made an EQ for the motion 300 the way you did for the Motion+, but I'm kind of curious what it'd look like if you did😅
Alan I had one question, can you tune the 300 with the EQ to sound more like the Bose? I know you did it with the SC boom and the Mifa wildbox. I really like the boom with the Mifa like sound, your custom EQ was spot on.
I don't mess now with eq till firmwares settle, ive wasted too many hours that way 😜 for sure you can make it morw v shape if overall volume isn't an issue
Alaan!! Thanks for this great review, I was wondering if when pairing the 300 with another one for stereo sound, it keeps custom eq settings or goes to default eq settings. Do you know about this?
Thanks for probably your best yet Alan, especially the pink noise clip. I couldn't help noticing the extra detail when playing stereo which gets cancelled when downmixing to mono which was more apparent on some tracks than others. Hope you managed to navigate the strap on the 300 eventually. ( I guess you put your Soundcore quid to good use) Anyway should I buy one to add to my apparently never ending collection of these toys? (BTW dont't let anyone call you Judas 😂)
depends what else you have but its certainly a decent option for a travel speaker especially if you have a higher tier streaming sub. ldac makes a difference on those higher bitrate tracks, but not by 3x times lol
@@alanrossreviews I think I'll take the plunge and add it to my Stormbox Blast, Motion Boom Plus and D8 mini, it will be in good company, thanks again.
Hello..I have a motion 300 and I have equalized it in many ways and I am surprised that the sound signature changes, but it is clear. Do you think it's worth taking a Uboom L (oluv firmware) I currently used the oluv equalizer for motion 300, but I lowered the bass and raised the mids a little because I felt that at low volumes it sounded a bit bloated and hollow. Oluv's equalizer was V-shaped and I remembered when you said that Uboom L has a V shape. So I wouldn't gain anything new with a Uboom L if I already have a motion 300?
@@alanrossreviews So a Uboom L will not be worth it if I already have the well-equalized motion 300. I remember that back in the day Oluv compared them both using his equalizer and said that they were too similar
Меня мучает один вопрос: Возможно на громкости 85% Motion 300 сократит отставание в качестве звука от Flex на 100%? Что если Motion 300 подровнять по db с Flex. Алан, насколько это будет близко?
It's good to know Soundcore can still produce a competitive product when they set their mind to it. That said, I'd personally opt for the Flex in spite of its more primative app and sbc codec limitation. The additional cost is worthwhile, imho, for what it offers (but I'd still try to catch it on sale for a better value proposition 😉). I'd still take the Tribit over Soundcore if for no other reason than Soundcore's recent business practices. Thank you for another excellent review and comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏
@@bryanbryant9962 If you have watched any of Alan's recent videos on Soundcore (especially concerning the X600) he answers your query extensively. He also touches on the subject again in this video as he talks about paid promotions from reviewers. Basically, it boils down to the fact that they relied on reviewer shilling for the X600 and showed no interest making improvements where possible based on genuine constructive feedback. It's their company, of course, and they can run it how they like but I'd rather buy from someone interested in making their products better rather than trying to make sales through hype, disinformation, and flat out deception.

This may be a dumb question, but how do I determine the volume percentage I am playing on these BT speakers. Most have just plus and minus buttons which don’t tell me whether my volume is 30% or 60 %. Alan says he prefers the sound of the Bose flex when the volume is 60%. I want to experiment to see my preferred volume %, but don’t know how to measure what % it is. Help please
Great video Alan 😅 Solid speaker from Soundcore. Great to see them still able to make great value speakers, when they’re not to busy trying to pay people to promote a certain speaker…….
@@alanrossreviews Definitely wasn't implying it was a classic, but for the money it's definitely decent value (mainly at lower volumes) Soundcore had a good reputation with making good value speakers, for decent prices. I was just saying it's good to see they can still produce some decent speakers, when they ain't trying to market some other bs.
Hey Alan, I got the Soundlink Flex today and just saw the review. I listen to a lot of metal where mids are kinda important and I do like a flat sound. I usually do not listen at high volumes and I was wondering if I am missing out by not buying the motion 300 instead, since from the graphs in your video it seems to be the more natural speaker at that volumes. Is my postdecisional regret justified here?
No its not natural, it's bright but you may prefer it at lower volumes where you will get more of the mids vs flex. Do you really need this form factor if you want a more balanced sound?
@@alanrossreviews as I am mostly using this at home probably not. any better device for that? I think I do like the lower latency the flex provides. really confusing so many devices have these atrocious high latencies.

I have enjoyed the 300 than my flex. I heve been a bose fan but the soundcore is there with bose. I set up my 300 equalizer to a v shape. It's better thsn the signature and the bass function. PLEASE READ: This speaker has too much distortion. Play the song wine pon you by Doja cat in SoundCore’s signature sound mode and at max volume you will hear distortion. It’s the cross over from when the high bass drops down to the low bass (sub bass) that I hear distortion in her voice. I tried to eq it to fix the issue but that didn’t seem to help. I turned down the bass when I EQ’d it and of course I still heard distortion.
@@alanrossreviews yes but there are many people that reviewed the motion 300 and I commented on all of their videos saying the same thing about they should play that song and hear the distortion. UE fixed the distortion that users reported it had on one of their speakers. Hopefully in the near future soundcore will do the same?
Hi Alan, do you know of any good portable speakers that have usb or Microsd playback support. Perhaps you could give me your top 3 if you could rank them. I received the Soundcore Motion 300 on Sunday and it occurred to me to compare it with the Upgraded Anker Soundcore Boost, but just about sound quality since the Soundcore 300 is obviously louder thinking the Soundcore 300 would blow the Anker boost out of the water with much better sound based on all the reviews, videos, bells and whistles.... I WAS TOTALLY WRONG...The Soundcore 300 could not outperform the Upgraded Anker Soundcore Boost both of them with Custom EQ. The Anker Soundcore Boost isn't perfect, but it holds on its ground with a nice bass and warm highs. The bass bottom on the Soundcore 300 doesn't add much base and it makes it sound a little muddy to my taste. I honestly was expecting more. I don't think is worth the purchase if you already have the Bose SoundLink Flex and/or the Upgraded Anker Soundcore Boost. It'll be nice to see if you can put on video what I described here! Thanks for the good videos, Alan!
agreed these speakers are about form factor, the boost is chunkier with more breathing space, the bass is there but the 300 has better clarity or really we should say, brighter tuning.
The bass function on soundcore 300 is a bit muddy for me to but i set my equalizer to a v shaped halfway and it sounde better than the signature and bass set up.
Can we notice difference between SBC and AAC sound quality, i have yt music and thier supported AAC, so should i buy stormbox flow or flip 5?? For sound quality, Please reply
No matter how you will try to replace the bose flex, you will still go back to it, this speaker just somehow has the advantage at everything.. except battery life ofc. The fact that the passive radiators are tuned to play lower mids very well, and the driver doesn't have much excursion at 50 - 60 hz, it manages to play very clear highs even when the bass is heavy on some tracks. Good job bose.
@@alanrossreviews very solid performer. But on the other hand, the tribit flow which needs a lot of fixing, i want to send tribit an email or something, or you could do a vid about it🤣 50 hz bass too overpowering, cannot be changed through the eq, intermodulation is worse than in charge 4, the bass is impressive but it overpowers everything else.. i tried playing with the eq for an entire day and never was satisfied enough.. also the volume steps are very weak up to 60% volume.. highs are lost off axis... The eq presets sometimes disappear or remove the name of the preset, tribit need to fix that
@@shoerice5083 you know intermodulation has become a buzz word these days i think because of certain channels. But i ask you, how can you tell intermodulation distortion from all other distortion without a spectrum analyser? maybe its just me but i find it hard to tell linear harmonics from non linear but we all know what distortion is. Sometimes intermodulation distortion has nothing to do with the speaker being mono.
@@alanrossreviews well, I know that if a driver has to play lows and highs at the same time, if this driver is not engineered well enough to handle all those frequencies, the difference will be easily heard in the highs. Certain bass heavy recordings that include synths or high pitch sounds, are the best way to test how that one single driver handles it. The reason that the bose has clear sound no matter what, is because the driver is pretty well made, bose are known for well engineered drivers, and also they polished the tuning and the passive radiators in a way that the driver doesn't have to produce useless low frequencies that can mess up the high frequency reproduction and fck up the sound quality.. even tho it doesn't have the ability to reach as low as the flow, it really gives the illusion of larger sounding because of that boomy character, especially outdoors..
@@shoerice5083 i dont disagree with you, you can have decent clean single full range drivers but they need to be backed up with good processing since you have the double whammy of also having to smoothly mix dowm the stereo to mono. Im not disagreeing at all other than i hear people talk about intermodulation distortion all the time now and i wonder if all of them understand what they are describing. Two different frequencies combining to create a third frequency unrelated to the fundamentals. Good on them if they can really determine this from all other forms of distortion and at the same time atrribute this to the driver rather than from any other part of the electronics. Just my current pet peve 😊😊
Very good comparison. However you just made a new Video about the Tribit EQ and X-Bass update, which absolutely needs to be mentioned/marked in this video, because what you said about Tribit here is not completely true anymore. Just show a link as you speak about those Tribit problems in this video to redirect people to your newest video about the firmware update. If it were an old video I wouldn't care, but it's only 2 days old, so you should update it somehow. Anyhow, many thanks as always!
@@alanrossreviews I meant exactly those two things and also that x-bass is now default. I think the EQ correction is however really important, because now you really can change those frequencies that you see, well mostly those and a great part of their neighbors. That can be a deal breaker for some (I wouldn't buy something that's not doing what it's saying it's doing). And I just realized I was talking about a firmware, and what I really meant is the app. Sorry for that.
Overall it looks a pretty good speaker for the money! Just think they did miss a trick with not having a portable charger function with such a large battery. Its got the exact same battery as the motion plus it seems. And I'm looking forward to you comparing this to others in its class as well if you get the chance (flip 6, motion plus ect). And not to mention seeing what you can get out of the custom EQ 😁
@@alanrossreviews whoa who's slamming you for your EQ's?! Please don't pay attention to whoever it is mate there's probably thousands of us here who love ya mate and really appreciate what you do!! Obviously only do it if it's something you want to and your interested in, just know whatever you do you've got a lot of people who are really thankful!!
i just dont have the time i used to and its time consuming when they keep changing the eq with these updates. i will do i for 300 if they dont mess with th eq soon.
As far as having a charging facility is concerned, when used will in most cases reduce playing time by 80% in many cases. Soundcore's parent company do make some class leading battery banks with multiple outputs so you could get the best of both worlds.
Do you think its worth it to sell my JBL Charge 3 for a Soundcore Motion 300? I've grown tired of the compression the SBC codec introduces to the music. I have FLAC lossless music. But the JBL Charge 3 is amazing (for me) in its freq response though (especially when wired). Can the Motion 300 keep up?

NOT a long video at all!, Infact very Informative. Thank you. I prefer the Soundcore 300 because of it's very good App and the Price. Good bang for the buck.
Yes i think they got this one about right, no spatial nonsense thank goodness 👌
I don’t buy a speaker without Alan reviewing it first. Absolute best 👍🏼
thank you 😁👌
Thank you, Alan, for the excellent review.
Thanks for this excellent video Alan !
it certainly helps in these on axis a/b comparisons 👍
what’s really apparently listening to all these comparisons, is just how much better the music sounds and how much more detail comes through with the Soundcore BECAUSE of the stereo speakers. For me this is a must have feature in any speaker system, and removes the other options from consideration at all.
yes this is true, you do lose a lot when you downmix to mono.
Yes given the flex is the smallest and lightest here not to mention the oldest, shows what a good job they did
@@alanrossreviews finally motion plus is available in India but now I am confused between bose flex or motion plus.I would really appreciate if you suggest which one I should buy.
TH-cam is getting so bad with shills these days and needs to sort it out. It's pretty much turned into a shopping channel and full of nothing but hidden adverts. Creators should tell viewers if it is a paid promotion, been gifted for free or purchased themselves.
Yup its out of control
Long post alert for the benefit of all after personally doing a blind test between Bose, Marshall, and Soundcore:
I was looking to buy a Bluetooth speaker recently and saw a lot of TH-cam reviews on Bluetooth speakers - particularly Bose Flex and Marshall. My thoughts:
Bose SL Flex vs Revolve plus vs SL Mini 2: Flex was smaller, but it gave stiff competition to Revolve in the sound dept, in fact sounding better than Revolve sometimes.
Yeah i love soundcore and i'm fan soundcore.
@@DavidGomesinsomnia which do you enjoy more nowadays, the M300 or the Uboom?
@migueltigre256 M300 is more fun, in my opinion.
The comparison that we've all been waiting for.
till the next one 😁😁
Indeed!
The one review I've been waiting for!! Love ya work Al

Although a bit schizophrenic, I believe you are the most comprehensive and trustworthy reviewer.
You really know what you're talking about! I love the techie talk for layman's approach.
schizophrenic is not one i've heard before, thanks 👍😂
Great video! Would love to see it compared against motion+ and soundcore boost.
👍
What a nice surprise from soundcore, a small stereo speaker in 2023, I like it 🥳How much can you do with an equaliser Alan? Thank you for such a detailed overview and comparison! 👌
no eq till firmware is mature. ive been burned too many times wasting too many hours only for eq to change with soundcore. the x600 still has 9 different tunings out there, Soundcore are a crazy bunch these days.
Great vid man. A lot of info all at once, but I do like it. Did go for the 300 too. Mainly for the price and will fit in the man purse. Patients do love the music when can give them outside time
yup its purse friendly 😁
Alan great work! Love ur reviews! Which speaker sounds better sound quality between the 300 or motion+?
Motion plus
Literally my go to man for Bluetooth speakers. A legend in your own lunch break Alan! Than you
a legend in my own mind im told 😁
Bose's aesthetic design, metal build, feel of use, weight, size, sound, and no need to EQ in different placements, and overall experience seems to be beyond Soundcore. I LOVE Soundcore, and for a budget travel speaker for sure it's the one, for actual bang for the buck, Bose seems to be the one. I still use my Motion+ daily and won't replace it, due to new bluetooth speakers abandoning the aux input. A critical feature for musicians/producers/etc.
Something for everyone at least. I wish i could be as complimentary about soundcore as you.
No worries if not, but tedious to go to and from the app to type the numbers
nice comparison, but with an Apple phone and apple music it always better the motion 300 vs Bose for the AAC codec ?
i don't have any apple devices so cannot answer that question.
Been watching you for quite some time, I absolutely love your honesty. So many others have become dishonest and pushing sponsors. I picked up the Flex and it's been fantastic!!
thank you so much 😁 very much appreciated 👌
great comparison, great as always 🙂 Will you be creating eq settings for soundcore and tribit to create the best possible sound from them? 🙂
When im confident firmwares have settled. Tribit have adjusted the flow again since i recorded this.
Your videos are the best on youtube for these products
@@philterskilter9165 thank you 👍
Thank you Alan ❤ I was hoping for a comparison between the Flow and the Motion 300 and you even threw in the Flex in, for an in depth comparison 🙏
The Soundcore Motion 300 surprised me in a good way here, I was expecting weaker, distorted bass from samples in some other videos but it goes a tad lower and plays somewhat clean instead here.
Its midrange sounds fairly musical, with a sort of reasonable frequency response and possibly lower intermodal distortion than the others. That'll be my choice then!
Do you think it's possible to make its frequency response flat with the semi-parametric EQ? I calibrate all my speakers with REW & UMIK-1 so I plan to do the same with that one 😄
Shame that the Q of each band can't be adjusted, it wouldn't be particularly hard to implement.
these speakers all sound dull as hell when really tuned flat, there isnt the dynamics or actual range in such tiny speakers to be able go that route. what you end up doing is simply layering eq upon eq which ends up a mess. using their own app you dont have the leeway to go full flat. of course if you smooth the hell out of it on a graph you can appear flat but really its still wavy without smoothing, remember their so called parametric eq is based on signature mode, you dont get a blank canvass to tune. if you stick this in xtra bass mode and fire some bass heavy tracks at it you will still hear some overdriving, its not totally clean sounding, signature mode is ok though.
For me that would be targeting +-1dB or less around 0db flat line on an average of on-axis & off-axis measurements, for the speaker response itself (in anechoic conditions)
For indoors conditions, I typically prefer letting the room do its thing, until the bass where I will correct for obvious room resonances.
For speakers that can be anywhere, well that's clearly more complicated 😄
But you often see speakers tuning that mix in room, boundary or off-axis corrections in with a lot of assumptions baked in.
300 can distort when pushed while flex can play cleaner when pushed
I want to upgrade my Wonder boom 2 portable speaker, Soundcore Motion 300 would be ok on my belt or on my bag, not too big.
Will it be better than a Wonder Boom 2, both 30watts I think.
for on axis it will be better yes but it does distort at louder volumes with bass on and bassy tracks.
22:18 I agree,I had heard flex and it does sound cleaner but i always felt the lack of fullness because of the v shape, the mids didnt feel like in sifficient amount.
well thats the inevitable with v shape, you lose mids
Which of the
Three compared in this review is better, some of the three are more worth changing to the old anker Motion plus
None of them. These are about form factor
im listening on the jbl lsr305 monitors which are ultra flat, and WOW you can tell the difference in your audio demo, the motion has the most accurate studio like sound. honestly you could probally produce/mix with these , minus the lack of super low latency
AlsoI am a DJ/producer , so to have a pair of ultra low latency flat and accurate speakers for small get toghters or portable music production would be a Godsend. . . i guess im looking for a swiss army knife of speakers,
1] Flat accurate sound
2]True stereo pairing
3]ultra low latency for live performance dj/mixing [sub 10ms] aux port is the only way i know to achieve this] however the flip has a usb C soundcard mode which i suspect is low latency
4] Dsp -parametric eq, if a speaker is flat this is not needed,
5]sub 100$ as i wish to get 2 of them so looking to spend less than 200 total

The Soundcore might be louder, but the Bose Soundlink Flex has better bass without losing detail in the audio track.

Alan thanks for the great reviews as always can you give us a custom eq for motion 300 that is the most balanced and pleasing in your opinion
The real difference is the missing mids on the flex you get on the 300 along with a brighter sound.

Hi...
Finally you have the 300..I like the speaker.
I bought it..also I have it for work..I compared with jbl6 and it kik ass,to the jbl6..
Now soundcore is coming with the 500..
But is more for a office speaker..but I believe is going to sound good..

Hope to see you,on your next video..

But flip 6 was always a bit dodgy for the money 😜
It will play while charging. If i was you id get the charge 5. For bass heavy sound also consider hk luna but the bass is overwhelming.
Wow 😯 just wow. Alan again, putting things clear.
well trying to....i always end up thinking damn..i wish i would have said more 😆
Another premium sound review from The ALEN ROSS LABS!!!! Explains madness 🤯🤯🤯! Cheers from across the pond of war pigs!!!
yo! we dont hear from you as much these days 😆
Thank you very much in advance Alan.
i dont have a pair of any of them so unable to test, sorry.

I do like me some bass guitar, strong snare hits, and very detailed guitars and cymbals-- but it would be a bonus if the vocals were evenly presented alongside those other things as well 😅
no its got nothing to do with neutral. no idea what the point of it is, just bass light i guess.
@@alanrossreviews gotcha. I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyways though
I was expecting something like this too. Or comments about tuning limits etc. BTW I'm curious about this vs Motion+ since they're at similar prices.
Why didn't you EQ the 300? Doesn't it worth it?
I have learnt to let firmwares settle before spending the little free time i have on custom eqs that i get slammed for anyway.
Alaan!! Thanks for this great review, I was wondering if when pairing the 300 with another one for stereo sound, it keeps custom eq settings or goes to default eq settings. Do you know about this?
Well it should be whatever the master is set to but i cant swear to it
They set to the master speaker settings. I have two.
The 300 does sound like a decent speaker, wonder what would it sound like compared to the motion +?
no chance against the bigger boys......same for flex, its about form factor, the slim design although the 300 is quite chunky in reality.

I am using now soundcore flare 2 . Does Motion 300 sound better than flare 2 ? Please reply:))
yes
Hello..I have a motion 300 and I have equalized it in many ways and I am surprised that the sound signature changes, but it is clear. Do you think it's worth taking a Uboom L (oluv firmware) I currently used the oluv equalizer for motion 300, but I lowered the bass and raised the mids a little because I felt that at low volumes it sounded a bit bloated and hollow. Oluv's equalizer was V-shaped and I remembered when you said that Uboom L has a V shape. So I wouldn't gain anything new with a Uboom L if I already have a motion 300?
300 and uboom l are sideways moves from each other
@@alanrossreviews
@@alanrossreviews So a Uboom L will not be worth it if I already have the well-equalized motion 300. I remember that back in the day Oluv compared them both using his equalizer and said that they were too similar
Меня мучает один вопрос: Возможно на громкости 85% Motion 300 сократит отставание в качестве звука от Flex на 100%? Что если Motion 300 подровнять по db с Flex. Алан, насколько это будет близко?
It’s crazy how Bose’s sbc codec sounds better than motion 300’s LDAC. The only review channel I trust
@@CarlosMunoz1980 youtube compression won't give you the full 990kbs bitrate that ldac can do so keep that in mind.

This may be a dumb question, but how do I determine the volume percentage I am playing on these BT speakers.

I WAS TOTALLY WRONG...The Soundcore 300 could not outperform the Upgraded Anker Soundcore Boost both of them with Custom EQ. The Anker Soundcore Boost isn't perfect, but it holds on its ground with a nice bass and warm highs.
The bass bottom on the Soundcore 300 doesn't add much base and it makes it sound a little muddy to my taste. I honestly was expecting more. I don't think is worth the purchase if you already have the Bose SoundLink Flex and/or the Upgraded Anker Soundcore Boost.

Sir, Could you review & compare Tronsmart Force Max to JBL Xtreme 3 please 🙏
No matter how you will try to replace the bose flex, you will still go back to it, this speaker just somehow has the advantage at everything.. except battery life ofc.
The fact that the passive radiators are tuned to play lower mids very well, and the driver doesn't have much excursion at 50 - 60 hz, it manages to play very clear highs even when the bass is heavy on some tracks. Good job bose.
Its weak point is lower volumes where the lack of mids is more apparent. It does play cleaner than all the wannabes when pushed though.
@@alanrossreviews very solid performer.
But on the other hand, the tribit flow which needs a lot of fixing, i want to send tribit an email or something, or you could do a vid about it🤣
50 hz bass too overpowering, cannot be changed through the eq, intermodulation is worse than in charge 4, the bass is impressive but it overpowers everything else.. i tried playing with the eq for an entire day and never was satisfied enough.. also the volume steps are very weak up to 60% volume.. highs are lost off axis...

@@alanrossreviews I meant exactly those two things and also that x-bass is now default.
