Even with the treble turned down a notch the Flip 6 is still just a bit sharp isn't it? And the Boost V2 still pretty good for an old speaker. Anker Soundcore does pretty good about releasing products with up to date hardware unlike some companies *cough* ultimate ears *cough*.

I really appreciate your objective and honest reviews, and would appreciate your advice about the following: I lost my Tribit Maxsound Plus and would like a neutral detailed speaker that's similar or smaller in size, that charges via USB-C. Unfortunately, Tribit seems to have forgotten about the updated Maxsound Plus and is only selling the old BT 4.2/Micro USB version. I had my hopes up for the Soundcore Motion 300, but am not so enthusiastic after seeing this review. The Motion Plus seems a very good choice, but is a bit larger than I'd prefer (it needs to go in my compact laptop backpack for business calls). Which speaker < €100 would you advise?

Hi Alan, I really appreciate your honest and informative reviews. so a BIG THANK YOU for those. I believe you work so hard for those videos and for the editing as well. You was right first time, clowns 🤡 😁. Its sad that soundcore don't have enough confidence in their speakers that they have pay these shills to put out nonsense 😭
really wanted to buy this speaker, but I decided to wait for the Boom 2. Do you planning to review it?? I’m very disappointed with the Boom 2. I guess the Motion 300 will disappoint me too 😒
I am very much enjoying my Motion 300. I think it's a shame Soundcore is using some shady marketing because it's a good product and it doesn't need it. Also, aren't tweeters unnecessary when you have these small full range drivers cranking out so much treble? I hope they fix that distortion issue you demonstrated even though I don't use the bass up.
@@robbieasghari8361 im sure the decision comes down to how they want to market this. the flex being mono they can say this is stereo. also harder to deal with a crossover.
I'm looking for a speaker exclusively for podcasts and audiobooks, no music. I'm hearing impaired and wear hearing aids, but not in bed, which is when I want to use the speaker. I require it for my severe tinnitus to distract me. It has to have real clarity for me to hear well, it cannot be bass heavy as it makes people sound like they are mumbling. Would the Soundcore 300 work for that you think? I bought the Marshalls Enderton II and although it is a great speaker for music, it is still too bass heavy for my podcast needs. I found that my cheap Soundcore small $23.00 speaker was better but not the best for listening to podcasts as it does not have EQ options. I appreciate any response as I am frustrated trying to find a good portable blue tooth speaker for talking to help me hear better at night. Thank you for your videos!
Hi Alan. Great videos. Which Bluetooth speakers would you recommend up to £200? I want one that doesn’t distort with bassy songs at any decent volumes. I’ve had the Gen 1 Soundcore Boost for a few years but that distorts. It doesn’t have to be a hi res sort of sound as I have stereo seperates set up for that. Look forward to your reply. Keep up the good work with your videos. I find them informative & entertaining. Cheers Derek.
I keep watching your reviews and comparisson to convince myself gettin motion 300 but my heart still wanting motion plus so bad. Is it still worth in 2024?
All reviews are wonderful (coming from a guy who owns almost 100 speakers 😅). Reviews are both professional and honest, with a great taste in music👌 Thanks a lot
Hello Alan, how is going the X500 testing? Any anticipation about X500 vs Motion+ ? My old Charge 3 is not working anymore.. Ps. I 've just seen there is a new Klipsch Nashville coming out, just in case you might be interested.. :-)
Are you interested in digging the full-band EQ deeper ...? Looks like you can expand the frequency bands to fine-tune the sound. Can it be customized more precisely now, do they work like they should ...?
@@godspeedsr1471 but i applaud them for continuing to develop the options. But if youve used true parametric its frustration gathering all the filters to the correct point without running up against the width issue.
I hope one day you will have the chance to test Fresh 'n Rebel bluetooth speakers - maybe Bold L2. The brand is not so known but it has something special I think. At least one of their smaller speakers does. But I've heard about other models the same: they sound better the more you get closer or reach the max volume. Mine does the same. That's somehow unusual for me, because most of the bt speakers I know... are not good at all at max vol. I am thinking to order a Fresh 'n Rebel Bold L2 though, as an alternative to Bose SoundLink Flex and JBL Charge 5. (I like these two up to a point, but still looking for something better for my taste... can't find, altough the showroom employees already know me, because I'm testing everything they have..)
Equalizer settings for dual Boost v2's would be so amazing. Just got two based on your video from 2021 and this video. You talked about maybe doing an Updated EQ settings for a less bass heavy tune for when using a pair of upgraded boosts. Thanks a ton over the years.
Hi alan ross! love your video once more. im thinking of changing my motion x600 to 2 motion 300. but im sceptical about those tws mode. will there be any latency for motion 300? abit underwhelmed from the surround sound crap that x600 advertise. any recommendation?
If you wanted to get one between motion plus and motion 300, nowadays which one would you get ???? I like putting it lower volume, small room background music
Hi Alan! Fantastic video, thank you for how in depth it is. I'm currently stuck between getting one flip 6 or two soundcore boosts... or maybe even two motion 300s if it's really worth the extra cost. I’m planning on using it mostly indoors in smaller rooms, and to listen to music at mostly low volumes. I appreciate stereo but it’s not a dealbreaker- how much does stereo even matter in small rooms? Originally I was between the flip 6 and motion 300 with the main difference being that the motion 300 has stereo, but I wasn't sure how much stereo mattered esp for smallish speakers. So now I'm thinking if I wanted stereo I might as well get two speakers and if I didn't care about stereo I'd just get the flip 6. I appreciate any advice or suggestions!! Thank you :)
what is your taste? sharp or warm? flip 6 is sharp highs, boost is warm but without the high end clarity and 300 is also on the bright side and can distort. for me id go two boosts but if you prefer a clear sound but not natural high i would go 300s.
@@alanrossreviews Thank you for your reply!! I'm pretty new to understanding my sound preferences so I'd say pretty neutral but leaning towards less sharp and more warm
you might want to look at the mifa wildrod which is between the warmth of the boost and the neutrality of the maxsound plus. but boost cant be beat for bass heavy sound at this size and price.
@@alanrossreviews thanks for your suggestion! I think the boost is the way to go for me- although I also have one more question. What do you think about getting two motion+ instead of two boosts? I saw a $30 coupon for it on amazon and I'm worried about the boosts' higher latency than in the motion+
So ALAN we just have to get a lot of people to complain about the bass distortion that the SoundCore Motion 300 has and they might actually do something about it. That’s what they basically told me. They basically said most people say the speaker has good/great bass and sound quality. So unless enough people complain about the speaker having bass distortion, they won’t do anything about it. Sadly :(
they are liars. i went through this with the x600. i had two units both with awful distortion and soundcore would not admit to an issue or do anything about it. i know of lots of people who went through soundcore support just to be told they would get a firmware to fix it which meant reducing bass. soundcore are an awful money grabbing company now.
Another great video as always Alan 🎉🎉🎉😮! I would have to go Boost, 300, and then Flip 6 for me. That flip 6 just……. It ain’t nice on my ears. Motion 300 as well, but the Flip 6’s brightness is overpowered lol. I see that distortion is still not fixed either as well on the 300 🥴🥴
@@alanrossreviews True. But like you Alan I like to push the volumes of my speakers as well. And while the flip is very clear sounding, it’s just too much for me. I’d take the boost and 300 here. But would mainly use the 300 at the lower volumes (because that distortion is ☹️)
I just got new motion 300 and X500, X500 sounds really bad with spatial audio, also you cant use eq with spatial because if you click custom it will be now just normal stereo, and actually custom eq without any customization sounds a lot better than spatial audio, you have 2 spatial audio modes, normal, 3d. I really like motion 300, sounds open and clear
I've just received a Soundcore Boost from Amazon and there's a loud rattling noise when bass frequencies around 70hz are played at higher volumes. Is that normal?
I do have it, not sure when i will get a chance to review it. Its bass is impressive for the size but overall balance is too bass dominant for me. I enjoy it for a short listen but the balance isnt good for long general listening imho. But i havent used it too much, maybe i will change mind 🤷
@alanrossreviews do they not have an app for it? F I just watched another review sayin similar to what you said. . To me now it's sounding like a fn tribit flow deal fml lol I will return it then if not what I'm lookin for I guess
@alanrossreviews 150 dollar speaker amd can't have accompanying app is bs... it's like jbl alan about month ago I grabbed two flip 6 ya can't mess with eq in their app it locks into standard flat eq says it gives best sound I'm like wtf that's bs and is reason I returned em.. feel these huge audio companies should have it mandatory that their speakers come with accompanying app
🤔... I think they should change their name to Soundpoor to reflect the truth of their more current releases. The Boost takes the win for me in this comparison which only makes it worse considering it's age. They're going backwards in my opinion but I realize everyone has different tastes so the Motion 300 is probably fabulous for some people (just not for me 🤮). Thank you for another excellent comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏
what bluetooth speaker for listening in a somewhat loud working enviroment? watched a lot of your vids, my friend has a jam hx-p920 and it sounds loud enough and good, so i would want something similar/slightly better, soundcore boost £40 and tribit maxsound plus £48 are my front runners atm i think
@@alanrossreviews Hi Alan, so i work in a poultry farm (egg collecting) where i will basically have the speaker and move it about to a different hen shed every hour or so, so the device will probably be handled quite a bit with dirty hands etc, the machinary is a little noisy but my friends jam speaker works alright but he doesnt work every day so i want a speaker of my own, price wise i probably dont want to spend a lot as the device will be used a bit if you know what i mean thanks

@@alanrossreviews I've ended up ordering the tribit maxsound plus for £30 on Amazon. Hoping it will be suffice for me, I bored my brothers really old jam touch mini speaker and it was good but the battery is about knackered, so specs wise the tribit maxsound plus is better in every way than that!
My flip 6’s firmware is 4.8.9 . I have two identical charge 5’s and only one received a firmware update so I contacted jbl to find out why and the responded by saying only one needed a update and the other ones hardware didn’t. Bullshit!!!
yeah it does seem a bit random not just from jbl but others too, i sued to think it wa s a slow rollout to stop servers being overwhelmed but now i think i dont have a clue 😝
Or the base model Really needes Firmware updates alot where it's sounds alot better now. The top Variant only few updates only to make it sound better, but not going to breaks the headroom of max volume.

@alanrossreviews damnit UK amazon lol ipx8 doesn't say wattage even tho that doesn't matter but I had to grab it alan if it sucks I will return but bet it murders stuff like the 300 the flip 6 and others for sound plus fully compatible with tozo app
@alanrossreviews worst case I send it back lol .... hey Alan nother speaker I grabbed is the skullcamdy barrel xt at local Walmart on sale for 79 it's pretty damn good for 79 but surly to my ears not nearly as good as the tribit blast . Hopefully someday tribit comes with blast 2 that would be an instant buy fir me
Thanks again for an entertaining show, The 300 sounds like the passive is slamming against something when driven to its limit of excursion as that slap appears to have no particular frequency variation and comes accross as percussive.
i dont think so sounds like woofer bottoming out to me. If it makes a sound it has a frequency right? the harder you hit that mid bass the worse it sounds, if it was touching the grill it would be the same each time no? if you put it to your ear and slowly push the volume you can hear it gradually change from a controlled bass to a sloppy wooly bass. its not a not touching to now touching sound. i mean it would be the passive but i dont think its hitting anything.
@@alanrossreviews Thanks Alan, I guess you could hear it a lot better than I can via headphones. ( By the way what do you do with the hairpieces once finished with? 🤣)
@@alanrossreviewsyou’re completely right. Its clearly the drivers bottoming out due to too much excursion in order to provide enough air to the passives😂. They tried to exaggerate with the bass extension but this is the result of their failure
@@stargazerxdd its becoming a signature of soundcore and these lifestyle speakers. The rave neo 2 had no issues but these lifestyle ones all distort. I assume they use the cheapest woofers they can get away with and concentrate on looks and marketing for bigger margins.
Hello. can you do a review of the w-king d320 speaker? I was interested in its design and large battery. it is based on the charge 5, but with two tweeters. the only thing that surprised me was the frequency characteristics of 100hz - 18000khz (-10db). maybe you can explain what -10db means!? as I understand it can go down to deep bass 50hz!?
it means the peaks and dips are within a 10db range. obviously that doesnt apply below 100hz and without knowing what smoothing they used this spec is totally meaningless. from what ive heard its nothing special,
I received my Motion 300 today! Out of the box: I'm positively surprised compared to expectations from this review's recordings. I confirm that the signature is bright overall. Some low frequency distortion is noticeable on a few tracks even in standard EQ (example: James Blake - Limit To Your Love, a torture test for multiband compressors) The stereo imagining is very appreciable. I'll make my own measurements and custom EQ for a linear response target, and publish results on my channel 😃
@@alanrossreviews thank you so much for the help to find a good enough speaker for my mobile use case ☺️ The combination of measurements, comparative recordings and your analysis is very effective to get a sense of what the speaker will be like 🙏

Mine just sounds the same any angles, just slightly soft 180° of listening
Hi Alan, appreciate your honest and informative reviews. Just want to ask for a recommendation for around 200 dollars. Planning to use it as a speaker setup for my tv but is somewhat portable so that I can use it with my android phone/laptop as well via Bluetooth. I was eyeing the X600 before but your videos made me to not to jump the gun to get them haha thank you! 🥳
i mean it has to be a bluetooth speaker? for a soundbar you want surround codec support and hdmi arc support. are you going to connect via Bluetooth or aux because latency is an issue over bluetooth. dont be fooled by the paid Soundcore shills who get a script from Soundcore telling them push the x600 as a soundbar.
@@alanrossreviews well it has to have Bluetooth for my laptop and Android phone. For the TV, I think Aux connectivity should be fine right? Don't want to go the soundbar route because I want to have a portable one as well and a soundbar won't be portable haha. Thanks for your response! 🥳
Nice comparison. I'm glad you through the Boost in the comparison there. I had bought a 2nd Boost for stereo pairing some time ago over the x300. It might not be as loud but it very pleasant indoors. But you're not wrong about something being there for everyone especially If you want something compact that does go loud - screechy as it might be (you can't argue with physics at the end of the day - you want bass you get bigger speaker)
Alan last comment on this video I got charge 5 and flip 6 at home right now got the 300 on the way and guess what I'm doin when I get home I'm returning the charge 5 and flip 6 and unless that 300 so.ehow impresses me I wish I wouldn't a even ordered it bit curiosity got best a me but why am I returning these... cuz I got the blue wking d320 and for my ears with their app and some tweaking in eq it give me everything these speakers are lacking plus sound gets better as ya turn it up I truly think ya might like this speaker but guess the first models in black colorway people had to download some software stuff in order to get the app to work butthw blue colorway comes updated and flawless for me to download app on Google play store or whatever it is lol but I've been lookin for portable speaker with good battery life and most of all great sound this wking just gave me all that... i wish ya had that on hand or do in future
Ive been waiting for something to dethrone my soundcore boost 2 and this had potential... But i guess ill still wait. Just like the motion boom. They cant seem to out do their old selves.
Alan spundcore should rename the 300 to the distortion king at volumes above 70 percent with any eq done for customization... man I'm pissed at this Lil speaker then earlier today come to find out with my 2 jbl flip 6 speakers ya can't customize their sound in jbl app when In tws or partyboost mode whatever the hell it is but playin in left amd right true stereo so guess what those just went back I just started my return for the 300 so either gonna grab another wking 320 for tws or sit and enjoy one 320 or when we go icefishin or whatever but damn man I'm thankful for amazon walmart and target return policies and honestly alan I know these r small speakers but this 300 is first product I've bought from soundcore that I'm legit super dissapointed in I'd easily take the motion + over this and had I not sold that too my dad about 3 or 4 yrs ago I'd be rockin that still l just as he is but no doubt if someone put the 300 or the motion plus in front of me I'd take motion plus without hesitation
@alanrossreviews sorry to bug ya Alan but any chance wking is sending ya the 320? Guess they dropped ball on black colorway of speaker people had to download firmware to get app to work but the blue colored one which is on sale for 50.99 right now came ready to go. Alan this is the small speaker I've been lookin for... sent back 300 sent back bogasing m5 returned jbl flip 6 and tomorrow takin back charge 5.. liked the flip 6 and really dig charge 5 but they murdered those speakers with Givin them mono sound with the only 1 tweeter the 320 has waaaay better sound operation with vocals and instruments and is surprisingly powerful for it size it's between flip 6 and charge 5 closer to charge 5 for size but with their 10 band eq in app it really can be tuned to a person's liking.. . Feel wking is finally gettin it right with this speaker next speaker I buy will be their bb3 knockoff the wking x20

Hi Alan, I have "news", great "news",🎉🎉 the Soundcore Motion X500 is out🎉🎉. The World's Most Portable Spatial Audio Speaker 😂🫢 My expectations are high (up to 40 kHz, haha). You don't want to miss 😉🤪
its been siting here for weeks, i just have so little time i have a bunch of speakers that i never get to actually make a video on. its an upper bass machine as you would expect.
Once again disappointed with soundcore. Thats a very innovative design which if implemented correctly could really benefit small speakers the versatility. All these speakers should now be aptx hd i think as that is probably more abundant of a source than l dac. I understand its hard for you to invest your time on eq settings, but i wonder if there was a way to monitize that because they are GAME changers to these speakers. $3-4 a download of a tuning in my mind would be completely worth it because if a soundcore product beats a jbl at $50-250 cheaper, why not pay $3-4 for a tuning. Not sure if that would be enough, but even at 1000 people downloading it. If its more than a 1000, im not familiar with youtube numbers and what the potential could be. But we all appreciate your content! Thanks Al
Im not trying to monetise the channel though 💁 this is just an enjoyable hobby for me. Yeah i run ads and amazon links just to pay for the speakers and equipment i use. One day i hope my current circumstances change but till then i have to ration the time i spend on it 🙄 don't even have a merch store 🤣
He's doing what he enjoys and talking to us like we are his mates not customers. It's awesome and if ya don't like it there's always people like Patrick Shambles for you 😂
also i must ask, since this happens a lot, you slag me off (bit of cockney for yer) constantly in comments on multiple videos but continue to watch. i find this fascinating that some people who find me so irritating cant help but keep watching. its a hell of a paradox. maybe you just have too much time on your hands??
A big Thank You Alan for another fascinating review. Can I challenge you for a different approach to these speakers? I am not into partying anymore, and for that, I would use other “arguments” than a small Bluetooth portable speaker, ears trained by many years of practice with very good home Hi-Fi systems, but never had even a treble and bass knob at home, amps that just amplify :o) (Audiolab 8000S rings any bell?) aso, aso. I lived many years in the Southern Hemisphere, African countries, and Brazil… (your type of editing Blah Blah Blah, Volume, Blasting everywhere …aso, aso) but I am confronted with the opposite paradigm now living in Northern Europe, I want to enjoy some music by night, at the outdoor balcony, but the decibels of a fart will make my neighbors already call the police after 10pm, meaning, I need to listen at very low volumes, nevertheless I would appreciate the major presence of all tones in a balanced way, Highs, Mids, and Bass… What would be your recommendation for less than 200 quid? My compliments to your new hairdresser, and to the shirt designer :), Many thanxx in advance, Cheers
if i just want a relaxing balanced listen i often pull out my stockwell 2 which doesnt go loud at all and is no boombox. if you need volumes that quiet you may be one of the few to benefit from the sonos roam. but wouldnt headphones be best for you?

@@alanrossreviews Wow yeah.

I would have to go Boost, 300, and then Flip 6 for me. That flip 6 just……. It ain’t nice on my ears. Motion 300 as well, but the Flip 6’s brightness is overpowered lol.
I see that distortion is still not fixed either as well on the 300 🥴🥴
its gonna depend on volumes and accuracy required too 🤷♀️
@@alanrossreviews
True. But like you Alan I like to push the volumes of my speakers as well. And while the flip is very clear sounding, it’s just too much for me.
I’d take the boost and 300 here. But would mainly use the 300 at the lower volumes (because that distortion is ☹️)
@@Yt_ShadowBannedme yeah its more suited to low volume listening but its not accurate if thats important.
58€ in Aliexpress today. I guess for that price is a great option against a lot of mor expensive speakers (I guess they'll solve the distortion issue)
Its a reasonable speaker for the money and a good deal at that price. Just remember its tuned bright and can distort when pushed.
@@alanrossreviews that’s why I was waiting for your custom EQ to get a more neutral sound (I’m more in the warmer sound)😉😉

@@alanrossreviews i bought that speaker bcz of your video . Been using it for 3 year rn😂
Like many Brits, you assume we know what you're going to say, so you don't complete your sentences.
Racism is alive and well i see 👍
It's not that i assume you know what im gonna say its that i assume you have a brain cell, sorry about that. 🍟
The first five minutes is just scribble.. And why is his use of cockney so cringe >.< . Listening for him to say "governor" the whole vid lmao
He's doing what he enjoys and talking to us like we are his mates not customers. It's awesome and if ya don't like it there's always people like Patrick Shambles for you 😂
what are you talking about? It's Alan Ross. He's being himself and that's why people like him.
😁😁
i am a cockney, born in stepney within the sound of bow bells, how are you expecting me to talk??? 🤔
also i must ask, since this happens a lot, you slag me off (bit of cockney for yer) constantly in comments on multiple videos but continue to watch. i find this fascinating that some people who find me so irritating cant help but keep watching. its a hell of a paradox. maybe you just have too much time on your hands??
My compliments to your new hairdresser, and to the shirt designer :), Many thanxx in advance, Cheers
if i just want a relaxing balanced listen i often pull out my stockwell 2 which doesnt go loud at all and is no boombox. if you need volumes that quiet you may be one of the few to benefit from the sonos roam. but wouldnt headphones be best for you?
oh the maxsound plus is another option!
@@alanrossreviews My Mrs joins me in there, some cigarettes, Red wine, or Caipirinha depending on the temperature/season... headphones are not an option, Thank You for the hints
