Did this twice and still sticking so undid screws on actual motor, gently pulled off outer motor case and pulled armature and worm drive free. Found one of the tiny brushes seized. Long story short, managed to remove offending brush, cleaned it and it's housing with needle file and reinstalled. Now working PHEW! Thanks for the video, your a star :}
Great video thanks, mine had the shaft seized in the housing due to corrosion on the spline end and the toothed linkage came apart trying to remove it, but I managed to clean it up grease and re-fit, and it's working a treat. Very helpful video. 👍👍
Thanks for the vid, very helpful, although the problem with mine is that the yellow cog is completely worn down where it meets the worm drive. Doesn’t seem to be available as a spare part. 🤷🏼
Thanks i have problem with getting the correct wiper blades also suspect that water gets down the wiper shaft when it is running i tend to use the rear wiper sparingly
Thanks purchased some from a leading internet supplier badged "Lucas" but they were useless as I suspect old stock the rubber was brittle, Had to throw away and get bosch from helfords , thanks for your info on the freelander 2 keep up the good work
loved it, very helpful to have on whilst I took it apart for a good clean - yours is much less rusted than mine so i think next time it goes mines getting replaced! 😅😅
Mine stopped. Then has been clicking for over a month. Fuse is OK. Just checked. Have a new motor coming posted for £25 that looks decent actually. UK seller on ebay. Do you think it would be flattering the battery?... I can refurb old one to save/reuse once it's off. Thanks for the information.
When I got my car the rear wiper wasn’t working but seller gave me a new wiper motor but it was a cheap replacement,it lasted just 18 months before seizing up was a lot worse than yours so I got a 2nd hand one from a late model in a breakers yard for £25 😎🏴
Hmm just thinking maybe if the wiper is not seized then maybe some regreasing could be done in situ by removing the cover and regreasing it, as some preventive maintenance🙂
So mine isn’t working and when I removed the boot cover and looked, the black plastic tip of the motor had fallen off?!? Can this be pushed back on or do I definitely need a new motor? 😭
That sounds like the brushes and their housing. It may be tricky getting them back over the commutator. You could buy a complete second hand unit and swap the motor over. It is usually the gears and mechanism which fail not the actual motor itself.
Love the vids mate, will watch this tomorrow, sure it's fantastic as always, where did you get your roof basket from and what tires are you running, thanks man 👍
Well done. Rubbish cars Junk. You can see from the end where the wiper fits. It can only leak water, nothing to stop the water running down the shaft. No two ways about it. Terrible design. I think they like selling new ones.
Mine was exactly the same, rusty with manky grease 😮. Stripped and cleaned, working lovely, thanks for the help😊

Sounds like you need a complete new unit
@ Thought so, thanks for your reply. 👍🏻

Check out my earlier video on wiper blades. You can run a 15” on the rear. It just fits.

Yes, it can drain the battery and is a serious fire risk. Rear wiper feed is permanent live.
I think the blade should park in the centre of the wavy heater wire
Yes, the waves give extra de-icing warmth
I changed it on my freelander 2, I bought one for £45 if I remember rightly. It was a Chinese knock off. It was easy to fix.
I have heard that the cheap ones don’t last very long. Hopefully yours will be ok though!

As a side, I ended up buying a rear wiper arm replacement from Aliexpress and it's night and day compared to the original that barely cleaned.
Another brilliant video Scott, are you planning on doing a video on replacing the glow plugs in the near future?
Thanks, yes glowplug vid will be filmed in September hopefully
@@BeavisPits Brillant stuff all the best mate

Yes, definitely! Good idea!

hello, could you show us and explain how to drain the visco coupler ?
There is no viscous coupling on the Freelander 2. If you are referring to the haldex active coupling then I will be looking at this next.

Thanks, basket was from ebay and tyres are BFG 245/70R17
Try Goodyear Wranglers M&S (mud and snow) for a less aggressive tread for more on-road work. I have these Goodyear and they wear well.
Well done
Great detailed video :)
What's HR 353? Asking as MF 687 :)
Hampshire & Berkshire 4x4 Response callsign. What’s MF? Muddy Freelander?
