Guys if you have Win 10 Pro and still can't find the windows sandbox it might be caused because of translation on your own language! (Please like to help others!)

Excellent video - a skill that I wish more users would consider before opening unknown files - haha! One caution that I seem to be running into with some students - if you have other virtualization software (VMWare is the one we were using) on the computer, adding sandbox "seems" to have caused a few to get STOP errors (blue screen). If that happens, boot to Safe Mode and delete the feature (you can just remove it). I haven't isolated the problem, but it's happened more than once. I'm not sure if it's the other software or if it's an incomplete add/remove process. Anyhow - sandbox is a must-use feature for scenarios such as the one you show here. Also - I'm glad that employee is no longer with you. I think the cookies actually taste better since she left.

(Many) Questions about Windows Sandbox popping out of my head: If I use the sandbox, is there any protocol 1) ... which files are changed? 2) ... which registry keys are changed? and 3) Can a programm inside the sandbox access a) the internet or b) my local network (fileserver)? and 4) Can I change the default state of the sandbox, e.g. install my mailsoftware inside the sandbox? or 5) execute a script when starting the sandbox to install a programm every time? 6) Can I use (certain) printers? AND 7) Is there a FAQ Page anywhere for this great feature? ;-)
well as long as you are in a sandbox or virtual machine or a docker, it doesnt matter. each instance is isolated from the outside world. meaning each virtual machine thinks it is the only machine that exists that it is 100% legit, which we know it is not. You usually get different network adapter on virtual machine and yes they have internet access if you so choose, you can also block it. With oracle VM you can block vritual machine from accessing your desktop and vice versa, by default it's disabled because that can cause a security risk. dude had a file already on his pc already high risk usually you have things you access which are risky through virtual machine and click or downloading it and then opening it. So to answer the question, they dont have access to your real network. Even if virtual machine gets hacked as long as it has no access to your real desktop they cant do anything to access you. thats VM are used when learning hacking cos it causes no real damage. Now if you do want sandbox aka VM to access your fileserver or cloud server it certainly can. you are opening your doors for it. but you can contain things with docker inside virtual machine as well, so it fake inside fake inside real.
Its a way to quickly create a virtual computer so that you can test new software, run suspicious files you have downloaded or even just explore Windows 10 settings in a safe environment. Anything you do in the sandbox will not affect your own computer and once you close the sandbox everything you have done is completely gone.
Thanks so much for the information, much appreciated easy and simple like always. Just to add that most will see it grayed out as it’s not enabled in Bios. So just head on to bios on your machine before Windows start “Del or F2 .. mostly depending on the motherboard” and search for virtual machine or something similar to enable. Once done you will be able to enable it from windows features.
wait... if the sandbox is literally like a fresh install then how would I know if it a certain test app/file will hamper with other apps in my system? kind of defeats the purpose, no?

I'm fairly certain that Windows Sandbox doesn't have network isolation. This means that while you might not harm your own PC when you detonate a harmful file in the sandbox, you might cause malware to spread to other devices on the network.
This is a VERY useful feature. Being in IT, I have used virtual machines for years. This is great for a quick setup, test files or applications, then quickly tear it down. Thank you Kevin!
I have been using Windows for ages, and I never knew this was an option. I even have another PC, that is mainly for my VMs. Curious, if the Sandbox goes to sleep mode, is that the same as it closing, thus you lose everything you were working on?
I've used Sandbox, but man it's a slow process. Every click is laggy and moving the cursor is as if moving through water. I have a Surface Pro 7, 16gb RAM.

From my experience, turning on Windows Sandbox through enabling it in Turn Windows Features On and Off does not work. Thanks for the video i ran into an issue with my HP laptops all 3 have sandbox disbled by firmware according to windows. Don't know if this an HP issue with setting, me trying it on my laptops, some setting in the BIOS or my laptops being 3 to 5 years old. All the drivers, firmware and BIOS are up to date according to HP, I'll have a look in the BIOS of each laptop this weekend but thought i should mention it. Great! I used "Sandboxie", which is now OS, but I'll give Windows sandbox a try. Unfortunally I have problems to upgrade to 20H2 on many of my Notebooks and I don't know, if I can use this new feature on Windows 10 Version 1909.
I'm running Windows 10 Education latest version, I have enabled Virtualization in my Bios and have Hyper-V working fine, it's not running now but I have enabled Sandbox in the Features panel, and restarted a few times, still no Windows Sandbox App on my PC. Not sure what to do now.

Advanced malware can detect a sandbox or virtual machine and turn off its malicious components. And that was over 10 years ago. I started using the original sandboxie when it first came out years ago and hackers soon figured out how to evade detection. A smart hacker would not have revealed itself inside a sandbox. Then when you felt safe and launched it in your actual machine, bingo, you're hacked.
Nicely explained but even though I am running Win Pro, when I go to the SANDBOX checkbox you discussed, it is grayed out stating my firmware does not support it. Is it the motherboard manufacturer I should check on to see if a firmware update is available for this feature?
Late reply, but if it says virtualization support is disabled in the firmware, you just need to open your bios and change the SVM setting. Shift clicking restart in windows, choose troubleshoot, advanced, and UEFI firmware settings to get into bios settings. When in bios, press ctrl + f to search, then type SVM, and enable it. Save and exit, and you can now enable sandbox.

windows media creation tool - create USB install - reinstall windows - choose Pro = Free windows 10 pro. 10 is still free they wont tell you this, if you want to give them money they will take it but if you simply ask support for a upgrade or use there tools (windows media creation tool) its 100% free.

Pretty major issue, you can copy files from the sandbox to your local machine. If the copy/paste function can traverse out of this ‘sandbox’, malware more than likely can too.

It took me a total of 3 hours, i had one problem after another, first the virtualization was off, then bios was in japanese then my ram was all of a sudden unsupported

Sleep mode is disabled in the sandbox. It'll stay active as long as you keep the sandbox open.

A real Sandbox would not have network connectivity. Just say'n.

Hey, is it possible to do something like this were irritated memory, but doesn’t affect any other parts of the computer I want to download some minecraft mods I’m scared I’m gonna download a virus. I don’t want to download them again and again is it possible to make a Microsoft sandbox that retains memory but doesn’t affect any other part of the computer

windows media creation tool - create USB install - reinstall windows - choose Pro = Free windows 10 pro. 10 is still free they wont tell you this, if you want to give them money they will take it but if you simply ask support for a upgrade or use there tools (windows media creation tool) its 100% free.

Weird that I can get in but no internet service inside the sandbox while it's okay outside..seems lots of people have this issue..ive tried it on 3 separate computers on different networks. Same thing. It's garbage
Pretty major issue, you can copy files from the sandbox to your local machine. If the copy/paste function can traverse out of this ‘sandbox’, malware more than likely can too.
Code execution is fully isolated. If you're uncertain about a file / app, just make sure to keep it in the sandbox.

It took me a total of 3 hours, i had one problem after another, first the virtualization was off, then bios was in japanese then my ram was all of a sudden unsupported

I did mine it says windows completed the requested changes there's no like restart button so I restarted it instead then when I search windows sandbox there's nothing I need help pls
