  • Teardrop trailers are supposed to be affordable, but when it comes to buying one, the majority of models are priced way beyond any reasonable amounts without really offering worthy amenities. In today’s episode I will show you the cheapest models I was able to find on the market describing the most important characteristics and of course listing prices. Spoiler alert, many of them start below $5,000.
So subscribe to #MustSeeTech if you want watch the freshest van life videos on a regular basis! Lets roll!
    0:37 #1 My Mini Trailer: myminitrailer.com
After overcoming a price tag shock caused by modern teardrops, Umit Demircan, had no other choice but to found his own company My Tiny Trailer and produce an affordable lightweight solution.
    1:45 #2 Retro Ride Teardrops: retrorideteardrops.com
On the market for more than 17 years, the Wisconsin manufacturer, Retro Ride Teardrops, hand-builds all of their teardrop units using the highest-grade American plywood covered with mill finish aluminum.
    2:53 #3 2020 Runaway Campers Cool Camp: runawaycampers.com/coolcamp
Before the new Slice teardrop hits the market later in 2020, the Cool Camp will remain the most affordable model from the Florida-based Runaway Campers.
    4:03 #4 Hiker Trailers: hikertrailers.com
Two more locations to get yourself an affordable trailer are Denver Colorado and Indianapolis, Indiana, where production facilities of Hiker Campers are located.
5:14 #5 Tiny Camper Company Rugged Rhino: tinycampercompany.com/upgrades-3/5x8-rugged-rhino
Tiny Camper Company Rugged Rhino is the company’s bestselling teardrop, that weighs just 890 pounds and despite its compact dimensions, fits a queen bed and a 15-inch deep inside galley with standard kitchen equipment.

@@shandaferguson4874 There are no 'Traditional' teardrops with an indoor wet or dry bathrooms as traditional teardrops aren't tall enough to stand in. However there are some hybrid teardrop / mini-campers that have bathrooms, tall enough to stand in such as NuCamp's Tag and T@b models, Little Guy Mini Max, InTech, Pro-Lite, Escape, Casita or Scamp and new, will be $20K - $30K, but so much more expensive than my list below. If those exceed your budget, I just saw a 'Traditional' looking camper, a new Forest River 2021 Wolf Pup 14CC with a wet bath for $11K on eBay but do extensive research on this company's reputation and you'll hopefully choose a different brand.

@@midwestsidehustles6918 I found him on Craig's List. Couldn't find him just now but I had copied his listing and it's pasted below. Just based on a few photos, these are the simplest, most basic teardrops I've ever seen that are commercially available. They give the immediate impression that it's some Do-It-Yourselfer in his garage. He can be reached at (715) 651-4542.
Only advertises on Craig’s List Minneapolis - He’s in Cumberland, WI
$2,500 - Lowest Priced Commercially Made Teardrop
I build these campers in my shop at home. I am not a factory.
Very Spartan buildout - just 3 shelves in galley and 1 in cabin
I've averaged 2 a month for the last 5 years, year around.
The campers are 4x8 and 4' high.
Sleeps two comfortably, three if you're really good friends.
There is a little over 6 1/2' of leg room in the cabin.
There is one shelf in the rear of sleeping cabin.
A good sized rear galley with a counter top and 1 shelf.
Door locks from outside and inside
LED lights in the galley and cabin.
The whole top has an aluminum skin.
Roof and front wall is insulated.
The sides and hatch lid are wood grained-
      factory primed and painted with
      Acrylic Latex House paint
      12v powered vent on top
110v hook-up. With outlets in the cabin and galley.
Spare tire and a leveling jack on front.
4 prong flat plug for trailer lights.
      BALL HITCH IS 1-7/8"
      Probably weighs around 650 lb.
Aluminum windows that open with screens.
The inside is left unpainted so you can paint or
      carpet or whatever you want.
No money down to get on my build list, just your
first name and phone number. I'll call you when
it's done. You can cancel or change your mind
any time before it leaves my yard.

Patrick O'Flaherty I did find his craigslist ad and he is not building for the next six weeks due to a broken arm. I am probably going to pass on contacting him because the build does look very “home garage” like, and for $300 more and a shorter drive to Indy, I can get the bare-bones highway basic from Hiker, even though I’ll probably wait almost a year for it. Must See Tech Yes, although when I bought it it was called the XL (2018 model). I have enjoyed it very much. It pulls like it’s not even there, does very little damage to my gas mileage, fits in my garage and is a great conversation starter. And the Shives family (company owners) are great to deal with!

New sub! My brother recently bought a Nu Kamp Tag, which is really well-built, and has like _ALL_ of the amenities. It also cost _ALL_ of the money. 💸 As we both slogged through Boy Scouts in tents, any one of these would have been a huge step up, especially in the wintertime "refrigeration" camp outs (as my troop termed them). Thought about building a teardrop out of an old trailer, but factoring the cost of materials, my time, and labor, a lot of these are mighty competitive, even if they've since come up in price a bit. Can always add to it later, right? 😁👍️

    • @yari722
      @yari722 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well what I did because they pretty expensive all the small campers with the toilets since they pretty much are all new. I just bought a Standy made by the Tiny Camper Company in Florida and bought a portable toilet. (there is enough room for it since you can walk in the camper and the camper I bough was the one with the couch that turns into a bed so plenty of space). I paid $4500 from a private seller and its from 2018 pretty much brand new. All the other campers with a toilet that are small like the T@B, My little guy max, etc are over $10000. You might be able to find a Aliner (foldable) camper used for maybe $6000 or so with a toilet but it will be like from yr 2008 or so...hope this helps good luck. 🥰

the problem with the runaway trailers is the a/c. why?, in the beginning they gave you a waterproof cover over the a/c outside in the front, now they charge you for the cover and instead give you a rock metal screen over the coils, ?why, if i were traveling down the road the radiator of the a/c would plug up with flying insects , etc. . also its got not cooking area like a teardrop and only room for a small bed. the a/c should be in the back blowing air over you into the trailer, not at you. look into a valiant teardrop instead .
