1. You weren't around when the game was made, so you don't get how much of a big jump this was. It's thing was that it was 3D - sure some of the missions and the story is a bit lackluster. But it's kind of how GTA 1 and 2 were - you did big things and took over the city. Vice City was where they focused more on the actual story. 2. Find a PS2 game from 2001 that has these kind of graphics, interaction and freeroam. 3. The definitive editions are all garbage, it's a bad comparison. 4. You can say all you want "it's bad compared to Xyz" but you've got to factor in when it was released. You can't say "a 1980 Ford Falcon is bad because it doesn't have power windows compared to my 2000 Ford Falcon" - it's just what was around at the time. I get that LCS is better and has a lot of missing features that GTA 3 had, but as you've mentioned it's what pioneered those games.
I loved the remasters, I Platinumed Vice city on PS4 and PS5 I also Platinumed Sanandreas and 3, currently working on 3 again. These really aren’t that bad.
The aiming took some getting used to but near the end of the game I had mastered it. What I find that helped me is there’s 2 different ways to shoot. If you just hold the shoot button (R2/RT) it auto aims at closest enemy and starts firing. If you hold the aim button (L2/LT) it turns into free aim but you can also lock onto different targets, it’s kinda hard to explain but once you get the hang of it it was fun. Obviously it wasn’t as good as GTA4, but compared to the old one it worked. Also I turned off the highlight around a person and just left the reticle.
I think I was using LS to aim when I played, but all of this footage and all of my complaints are from the day 1 release before there were any patches. I’m sure it’s better now, but I don’t think it was so easy to start free aiming when I played lol

There are two ways to successfully complete the final mission in GTA III Doug. The first is to use the bulletproof patriot you received from Ray during the marked man mission. However the patriot while bulletproof lacks armor and can easily be destroyed just by ramming into stuff. The second which is my preferred way is to use yet another bulletproof vehicle that actually is armored which you can get during the mission Arms Shortage. That being the Barracks OL. Just use those vehicles at the dam and the exchange mission should be a cakewalk.
The final mission is not very difficult, just kill all the Colombians in the mansion and steal their weapons, take the bulletproof vest from the garage, use the Colombian truck, go to the dam, take the sniper rifle that is passing the entrance, and use it on the enemies that are at the highest point, and kill the enemies at a distance and take their weapons. The only thing that is surprising is Catalina's helicopter, but once you know it, just run to the nearest ladder ,and from there you kill whoever you can. I admit that I am one of those who like this game to this day (PC version) And the final mission seems to me to be one of the best, quite enjoyable (there are much more tedious missions than it is in this game and in other GTA games)
If you can't complete the final mission without a BP car you're doing it wrong, it is definitely one of the more difficult missions in the game. But that is how games were back then. It was definitely more difficult by the PS2 controls, playing this on a phone or PC is much easier due to the better controls. I'm unsure what Xbox is like. 😊
@@MatWilson2612 I have the original PS2 port and it controls just fine. Way better than the defective edition that’s for sure. I don’t like the fact you have to tap continuously the X button to run/sprint as opposed to simply holding it down to run/sprint.
I’m currently playing through the original version of the game on the original Xbox hooked up to a CRT TV, the game is kinda rough regarding gameplay and story but I would still recommend trying to play it on the original consoles it came out on rather than buying the Definitive Version. The remaster just looks so bad and soulless, it kinda looks like a bad mod
10:04 ok tbh i passed this mission without guide i just finished it yesterday So the way i beat it was just ignore what the game says and just drive around the city locating them because the timer will only start when you hit one so just locate them all and start destroying them i started with first island to cut the time i needed to go back and forth between islands and that is it but it's still difficult Sorry if there's any wrong grammar or words iam not English main

This has always been the easiest GTA by far for me. And you don't have to buy weapons whatsoever if you explore the city and find the packages (an extremely underrated aspect of game design 3 and VC did well, giving not only a reason to explore the environment but be rewarded with weapons and pickups)

I bought the remaster when it first released & inspite of the glitches, game crashes, & visual let downs. I still play it due to giving me my "PS2 Slim" nostalgia. Out the other 2 games. "GTA 3" is the most competitive & the most merciless hard missions....i dont play much of "3". However, i do appreciate it being a game martyr. It gave the HD universe a higher standard in open world modern gaming cuz of its misses. Spoiler Alert ..! I hear "GTA 6" will be set in a HD Vice City. It be consistent on the the mainland, the 2 islands, the Everglades, countryside & a few.of.the Key Islands. 🤔👍😎🤔👍😎🤔👍🎉
If you still wanna feel how the original was just use mods, there are some easy to install ones in mixmods for example. GTA 3 can be good but like most games they need some refinement, something that the Defective Edition did very poorly

I'll find you and fight you irl for this vid Jk, I played GTA3 on PS2 when I was a kid, but only played free roam and side stuff cus I was too shit to play the missions and beat them (also I mostly played SA and 4 instead, but 1-VC were cool novelties to me), a few years ago I replayed it and beat it on PC (Steam version not DE) and it was pretty good, you're always free aiming in that one so it's similar to how FPS games play, the worst parts imo are op weapons still being op even when NPCs use them, weird driving physics, and weak cars that blow up too easy Imo it's best looking on PS2, but XB has some improvements (less compressed textures, cars have reflections, better character models, etc), PC (original version) is less good looking but not trash it's very similar to PS2, mobile (10th year anniversary edition) is pretty shit looking but has some improvements (HD HUD) and technically has a higher graphic fidelity, DE imo is the ugliest but technically has the best overall fidelity
I’m actually replaying through GTA 3 on PC for a new video right now and that’s pretty much exactly how I felt about that version of the game. So far I’ve actually enjoyed the experience for the most part, but I’ve only just entered Staunton so I know the honeymoon phase of the story mode is pretty much over, and now I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop in the form of a massive difficulty spike haha Either way though, it’s still a shame to me that they dropped the ball so hard with DE, I was really looking forward to GTA 3 being fun all the way through lol
Grand Theft Auto III Original even was ass imo, it's unique because it's the first 3D 3rd person game in the series, the controls suck, mechanics are wack(most of them, like combat, especially grenades) and the story was mostly just Race & Chase it means well because it helped pave the way for many other GTA games and 3rd person shooters as a whole.
