Huge metroid fan! Ever since the very first one when I was little was awesome. I love how game designers are upgrading Metroid while keeping some of the same plot, enemies and story line. I played this and Fusion on GBA and beat them over and over just becuz how fun it is! I currently just beat the remake of Metroid 2(Samus returns) on 3DS and it was spectacular to say the least! Seriously cant wait to play Dread next!!! Metroid is definitely a adventurous game that will be great for all gaming time!!!!!💯💯💯
As a kid, I was mesmerized by my cousin's NES version of Metroid, the very first release of the game. It seemed like an endless, explorable map of rooms, secrets, hallways, and mazes. As a kid, I saw it as impossible. Then I had a copy back in 2009 for my Nintendo, which I still have that Nintendo, and I played OG Metroid from the beginning, no secret codes. Remember the JUSTIN BAILEY code? Was that it? That was previously my only means to beat the game, using that code. I ended up realizing, many years later, that it's only an 8bit NES game, and it IS beatable on my own from the getgo. When I told my cousin, who also as a kid felt it was the ultimate game, that I had beat Metroid from the beginning, no codes, he basically called me a liar. LMAO!!! Didn't hurt my feelings none, because he also called me a liar when I told him I beat both Ruby and Emerald weapon with no cheats or glitches, which he also thought were impossible. It's easily doable with the proper materia equipped and leveled up.
There's a lot more worm bosses on this one, which is pretty cool. Worm bosses are hard to program, especially on older games and consoles. Guess they really wanted to show off just how much stronger this game's code is.
It always bothered me that the larva boss was actually in the process of dying (and you saved it by killing the plant that was killing the larva), and the larva thanks you by trying to kill you later. No good deed goes unpunished.
Zero mission had such good graphics and sound. Im trying to 100% the game and i got an anbernic emulation handheld so the game looks pretty good on the screen. Love every minute of it.
T'was the door leading to Tourian, the area where Mother Brain is located. In this game, it required you to kill both Kraid and Ridley, then visit it in order to get another cutscene of the effigies opening their mouths, thereby letting Samus pass through. In case you weren't aware, Super Metroid had a similar mechanic, but instead of two bosses, it had you kill four: Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon and Ridley, in that order.

You can get Super Missiles once you get the Speed Booster. You usually get them first by defeating Imago in Ridley's Lair but you can get them in Brinstar by using a ballspark or in Crateria using well timed Shinesparks.
I wish Mecha Ridley was more difficult. It would have been nice if he can summon some of the goon space pirates (the grey one -- the one that can take a lot of hit -- and yes, he takes damage from Mecha Ridley himself).
Okay, this bothers me to no end: no matter what I do, I can't shoot straight up with the missiles, so I'm pretty much stuck at the first boss. Can somebody please help me with this?

@kevo300 Nah, it's not hard to believe that the game was bad. Pacing was terrible. The bosses were forgettable and uninteresting, and certain areas didn't make sense, it was just a bland entry into the super metroid series
A no hit Mother Brain is insane with so many things coming at you.
100%, I just played it again and it was the only boss I died on
I almost rage quited on that boss
No hit Mother Brain without using Super Missiles
My very first gameboy game. Amazing game, still holds up
Great game, but some odd reason, everything I would play it again, all of my data is lost...
I started playing it again and I thought I’d be awful at it due to not playing for years but it’s just like riding a bike haha
Yeah this and Fusion aged really well.
My too
Same here. I've had my cartridge for as long as I can remember
I love the "yea suck it you couldnt even touch me" shots after each boss

I like how you transition between bosses. Going through the doors like it’s a boss rush.
damn you even included the infamous Twin Zebisians. well played.
This game was my 8th grade graduation present. One I still treasure to this day. Amazing gameplay. I could never beat Ridley without taking a hit.

Man Samus looks good in this game. Should be more games made in this style.
The imago boss was so annoying, you had to run back and forth spamming missiles until you beat it lmao
Ikr, that's why I always just get early super missiles and skip that fight lol
It was always a bummer how insanely easy Kraid would die honestly. Especially with him being a major boss.
No, it’s okay, you can use supers on mecha Ridley, I promise no-one will think less of you for it
Going throgh that whole brain segment without recieving any damag should be considered a feat of super human ability, wow!
I'm so used to seeing speedrun strats that all these boss kills seem super slow. I didn't even know about the second boss.
You did Acid Worm Skip on your first playthrough?
Awesome video, incredible game. Makes me want to play it more :)
The sequence breaks here are amazing. I can get the varia suit before even going into Norfair
This game: Zero Suit Samus is a worse fighter than Samus in her armor
Smash Ultimate: Samus in her armor is a worse fighter than Zero Suit Samus
Blasting off 50 missles to stop all of ridleys fireballs was so badass. Man I love me some metroid.
Mother brain fight was toxic af man. I wanted to give up on the game but really wanted to put my childhood to rest. Took me a good 40 minutes lol
Yeah, felt so annoying
Agreed. Mother brain was just straight up annoying. I could barely do anything without being hit by a projectile from every direction.
Zero mission had such good graphics and sound. Im trying to 100% the game and i got an anbernic emulation handheld so the game looks pretty good on the screen. Love every minute of it.
What the hell when Samus kill the mother brain she escapes to the vehicle but when the vehicle explode Samus continue the story what a great think
I love the fast pace of zero mission. While fusion was still a good game I felt that the gameplay felt a little slow
Imagine managing a no damage run only to get hit by that space pirate jumping out the escape pod
Wow your awsome dude
The last Bosses intro always gave me the chills.
2:13 Blud didn't even try, he just spammed missiles like hell
so what was the 2 headed monster that opened his eyes in two separate cut scenes?

How d'ya get jumpin' like that against ridely ? I mean when you rolling in the air.
It's a walljump, you jump against the wall, then press jump again, can do it indefinitely and it's a main tool for sequence breaking.

Never know you could actually do the speed-boosted jump on older Metroid game lol
... You know you have to wonder why Ridley has a mecha copy of himself on the pirate mothership. Talk about being egotisitical.
Ridley built the robot himself as an image of how he sees himself as, a weapon of great power.
Of course the most disturbing boss is the one who doesn't die
Ripley's intra on this game was epic XD
How did he get super missles before imago i see super missle in the imago fight
probably did the Shinespark in Brinstar
Yes
You can get Super Missiles once you get the Speed Booster. You usually get them first by defeating Imago in Ridley's Lair but you can get them in Brinstar by using a ballspark or in Crateria using well timed Shinesparks.
you can also get your first super missile in ridley if you go right after ice beam and take the backwards route

My most recent run i actually managed to skip imago via the ballspark super missile tank
Same, I actually beated that after getting power bombs lol
Metroid was perfect in every way
amazing game my profile picture is from when she gets the fully upgraded suit.
As a kid I would get so mad fighting mother brain
Ridley was in Zero Mission way too easy but also too short, he should have had MUCH more HP
Kinda, he deals the most damage of all Ridley versions but has the lowest health of any Ridley version
In my opinion, both him and Kraid could have been given a significant buff.
At least mecha makes up for it
