Fun fact! In the books, they all get hooked by the casino. Percy is the one to realise what’s wrong, because he realises he’s forgotten his mothers name.
NO WAYYY omg I actually like that better than how the episode went!! The fact that Percy realized something was wrong because he couldn’t remember Sally is sooo sad but so true to his character. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Yeah this episode didn't do as well at adapting from the book. I like the idea of getting help/info from Hermes there, so that was a good addition, but other than that I think the fandom agrees this episode was probably the weakest of the season. Still good, and the show is great overall, but if we had to rank the episodes this one would probably be pretty low.
8:02 That's the point. Annabeth's nickname started as her teasing and kinda sarcastic. Percy on the other hand thought of a way to get back to her but ended up sounding like someone who was complimenting her. That's the best nickname he could think of and that's very Percy of him. 😅
Haha awwww I love that!! That’s so true to their characters. Both nicknames are adorable, I love their friendship. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
Yeah, Luke’s mom doesn’t get mentioned in the books until the fifth one, so this was Rick taking the opportunity to do a bit of setup for later seasons. But as far as I know, it’s just random genetics: there are just some normal humans who can naturally do that. Also, a detail that Percy notes later on in the books (although it isn’t really a spoiler, since he just doesn’t think about it early on) is that Sally can also see through the Mist. That’s why she could clearly see the Minotaur in Episode 1, while the Chimera in Episode 4 just looked like a regular puppy to the ordinary mortals who saw it.
Woah really?? That’s a really big difference he made then bringing up Luke’s mom so soon! I can’t wait to find out more about Luke and his family. That’s super interesting that some humans are born with just enough magic to see through the mist. I was wondering about why Sally could see the Minotaur!!! So is it confirmed that Sally is a See’er? That’s so cool. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesignsYeah, I think it’s one example of the benefits that come with doing an adaptation like this: unlike when he was first writing the books, Rick already has the completed source material to draw on for the show, so he can set some stuff up earlier than he originally did in the books. And yeah, that’s why Sally could see the Minotaur: she’s one of those special mortals (“Seers” in the show, although IIRC they never actually had a name for people like that in the books) who can see through the Mist to varying degrees. She doesn’t have the seeing-the-future part like Luke’s mom, as far as I can remember, but she can see monsters and stuff like that.
You can form your own opinion about Hermes. He's not necessarily good or bad. More nuanced. From reading the books, I personally think his heart is in the right place, he cares, but he does tend to unintentionally mess things up while trying to make things better.
Yeah no I definitely have a different perspective on Hermes after thinking about it for a little while. I totally see the perspective now that Hermes was trying to save them by not helping them! At first I was just confused why he wouldn’t wanna help save the world. But if he has tried before and others have suffered because of him, I get why he wouldn’t want to help now. And compared to the other gods, Hermes can definitely can be seen as trying to be good. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know all this!! 😊🤍
The casino is made to appeal to anyone, including children. It has pretty much anything that could entice someone to stay. So three kids walking around is definitely not out of place 😂
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Yep! Whoever runs this place isn't doing it for business, they're doing it to trap people. So they don't care if minors are entering, even if they get into the adult areas!
Also with Poseidon not visiting Percy, it would've been worse than any other god visiting their child because he's forbidden. He took so long to claim him to keep him safe. Percy would've been in much more danger if Poseidon had tried to stay in his life from an early age.
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesignsnot just that, but it’s an agreement between Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon to not have anymore Demi-god children after WW2 (as in this canon, it was between the children of the Big 3) as Luke said in the 2nd episode. If 1 of the Big 3 have a kid, the other 2 do everything in their power to kill the other’s kids without directly interfering. For example, as alluded to by Alecto to Annabeth in the bus scene during the Medusa episode and Luke in the Camp episode, Hades himself sent Alecto and a horde of monsters after Thalia (with Luke, Grover, and Annabeth) on their way to camp and was the reason she died. There is another major example, but it is spoiler-y but that one is direct interference. So not only would the monsters themselves be after them, but 2 of the most powerful beings (minus the father) in the universe would be trying to actively kill them. This is a major, major plot point in the later books
The movie changed the casino scene drastically 😂 and the water scene was done in a large water tank. Walker spent hours under there occasionally using a breathing machine instead of going up for air because he wanted to nail the scene. It's explained more in the documentary they released with the finale
Oh that makes a lot more sense 😂 That’s so crazy about the water tank scene!!! They just stayed under water using breathing machines?! I can’t wait to react to the documentary!!! Thank you so much for watching and letting me know 😊
I think the casino scene in the book is the best version! The kids are enticed to stay with unlimited credit cards, a free fancy hotel room, bungee jumping, unlimited video games, unlimited junk food, etc. When I was a kid, I wanted to stay at the Lotus Hotel, even if I did get trapped there forever.
That does sound like the best version! Even the reveal that they’ve been stuck there seems better in the books too from what I’ve heard. Thanks so much for watching! 😊
I'm sure Luke saying that Percy and Annabeth are acting like a married couple wasn't meant to be in romantic sense. Let's not forget that the last time Luke saw Percy and Annabeth he was frustrated with her and they didn't get along well. So I think Luke noticed their dynamic has changed and thought about many reasons why it's not good for him. Although we might see more direct lines about them and their blossoming relationship in the future seasons ofc!
That’s SUPER interesting that Luke might’ve seen how close Percy and Annabeth had grown so quickly and felt threatened by their dynamic and bond!!! I didn’t even think of that. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
Fun behind the scenes fact: Walker in that scene actually talked under water and they recorded under water, and he learned to get away the air bubbles when talking.
That is crazy!!! I can’t wait to react to the documentary and watch how they filmed that, that’s so fascinating. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Yo no creo que se refiera a la responsabilidad de Percy si no a algo más literal pero espero lleguemos a la temporada 3 para que se entienda la referencia
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Oh it's not responsiblity he is gonna hold. Look at it again. Weight of the world??? Any Greek myths that have that??? *cough* Atlas *cough cough*
Remember to comment all your thoughts on Percy Jackson episode 6!! 🤩 My favorite scene was definitely Percy trying to drive the cab 🤣 I mean how they were able to turn something so simple into the funniest most chaotic scene was brilliant!!!! Lin-Manuel Miranda was AMAZING and I hope we see him again!!! Thank you so much for watching, I hope you loved it 🥰
SERIOUSLY!! 🤣 I must’ve edited out like 5 minutes of me just laughing trying to pull it together lol. How they took something so simple as cab driving and made it so hilarious and chaotic is brilliant!
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns I highly recommend watching a movie called Secret Headquarters. It has Walker Scobel and Owen Wilson in it. It’s kinda similar to Spy Kids. It has a similar scene
The other Satyr was essentially gone in the head and really thought he found pan, but in truth the vr shows you your deepest desires and gives you false hope in reaching it.
In the books, they don’t talk to Hermes, they start playing in the casino that looks more like a Disney park lol. Percy talks to boy and realizes he thinks they’re in the 60s, then percy also realizes he forgot his moms name and them he go find Anna Beth and Grover to leave.
2:05- The school teacher is kind of a manifestation of the Dementor character in Percy’s dream. 5:12- I won’t spoil who the Lightning Thief is, but you are on the right track with the heavy intense music, the fire, all of that! 7:56- WISE GIRL! You’re correct, Wise Girl is Percy’s nickname for Annabeth. And Annabeth definitely referred to Percy as Seaweed Brain when she wanted to call him a dumbass but she couldn’t because these books were PG at best. Also, as the son of someone who works at a casino, kids would definitely not be allowed on the casino floor like this. Whenever I’ve gone to gamble at my dad’s place of employment, I’ve had to show my ID to security to prove I’m over 21. 9:38- I think Luke’s mom gets explained later in the series (Wiki says Season 5 if we get that far)-part of what’s so great about this series is that Rick Riordan is writing them with all the knowledge he knows comes later, so he can add Easter Eggs that the book fans will know, like this-but, in this case, Luke’s mom was born with it. I don’t remember if there’s a way you magically gain this ability, but Luke’s mom was born with it. 12:36- That’s a really great analogy, Sarah! Definitely along those same lines. 13:25- It’s just Percy…for now. We’ll meet more people along the way who could fulfill the prophecy, but it’s just Percy. 16:51- We’ll see more of that flashback in next week’s episode (I think), but, yeah, that was little Percy outside one of his boarding schools. 18:38- It’s not a rule that you can’t meet the godly parent, but most do-especially what we call the Big 3 (Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon). It’s just less dangerous if they stay away. 21:32- I think that you are reading too much into the Goat Man. He’s not some great, evil mastermind, he’s just a satyr. 27:32- Two things: A: we meet Poseidon next episode, and B: this was one of the changes that most confused book readers, because in the book, Percy doesn’t miss the deadline. Based on the mermaid’s speech, they were only a few hours late. 29:16- Exactly. Before their plan was “figure it out as we go along”, basically. The casino scene was one of the things changed most liberally from the movie to show adaptations, so, you’re right, it was basically a huge party. Grover got a bunch of ladies, Percy played slots, and Annabeth just hung out around the casino, too. That’s why it was changed so much, I think, because Annabeth of all people would know not to trust it!
Ohhh okay so it’s not really the school teacher? It’s just how the dementor is showing up in Percy’s dreams? That makes sense. Omg I can’t wait for the lightning thief reveal!!! Wise Girl and Seaweed Brain are ADORABLE nicknames! Oh wow normal casinos are strict then! I LOVE that Rick Riordan can have little Easter eggs in the early seasons. That is SO fascinating to me about Luke’s mom and all See’ers. Being born with just enough magic in you to see some of the magical world is so weird. I hope there’s more crossovers between the human and magical world later on! I’m so glad to know the Harry /Voldemort dream thing is kinda accurate bc that really helps me understand that! Oh interesting!!! I can’t wait to meet new characters who can fulfill the prophecy! Lol the satyr weirded me out! Why was he trying to trick Grover if there was no Pan there? Idk my theories were flying all over the place with the satyr 😂 WHAT?! That is a MASSIVE difference from the books!!!! That’s super smart that Annabeth would know not to trust the casino this time!! Thank you soooo much for watching and commenting!!! 🥰
BTW, the almost prophetic dreams are a demigod thing, Luke mentions this on the 2nd ep. No demigod dreams arenormal. It doesn't always mean it's literally a prophecy tho. I forgot the specifics. edit: and that's why Annabeth readily believes him and no demigod would make fun of him. Dreams are serious beeznezz with demigod.
It's so funny that in a later book Percy is all like i have finally got a driver's lisence and i am good, as the taxi scene wasn't in the book, they had a funnier way to get going which i won't tell in case you end up reading the book as it was a very funny moment which i don't see others mentioning enough
Since you’ve watched the rest of the episodes, like calling them a married couple served as a distraction for both the viewers and Percy and annabeth . Percy got so embarrassed he changed the subject. The viewers got so excited we didn’t realise Luke was snooping about ares .
It's ironic that you're overthinking Grover's encounter with Augustus, saying him forgetting couldn't just be that he was alone, because the entire point of Riordan's works is the importance of love - romantic, yes, but also familial and platonic love, perhaps even more so. Characters in all of his novels grow and achieve - and save each other (and the world) because of love. I could go on forever citing examples, but that would be spoilerific. 😉 Suffice to say, if you stick with the series or decide to venture into the books, it will become obvious.
Hahaha oh trust me I definitely get the theme of love in the Percy Jackson world, but I also figured it’s a magical time-pausing evil mythical lotus toxic-air casino hotel sooooo anything can happen 🤣
9:24 Seers are born like this, some humans end up being born immune to the effect of the fog, like Sally Jackson and Luke's mother, and also the reason why the fog doesn't affect demigods, because of the divine blood and this characteristic of their human parents, but if they don't know what they are they end up not seeing so clearly through the mist
OH WOW really?? That’s such cool details! I was wondering how Sally could see the Minotaur and everything! That’s super interesting. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
Dude finally, I've so enjoyed watching these reactions and I can't wait for you to see Episode 7! It's a tear jerker but so, so good. So remember how, at the door, Annabeth mentions they still have time to make the Solstice deadline if they hurry? Well that was before they spent another half half hour trying to find Grover. The implication is that They lost another day or so in the time it took for them to go back for him, which obviously wasn't Grover's fault, but I do like that Percy his honest with him, and doesn't lie because actually, they are running late because of Grover. Again, not because Grover did anything wrong, he followed the plan and none of them knew what they were getting into. You hit it on the head when you noticed the parallel with Poseidon leaving the comforting message to Percy telling him it wasn't his fault, but he's too late now. It's in Percy's character to not lie to his friends, but still be kind. This whole episode deviates from the books but the conspiracy theory is that Hermes somehow influenced Augustus into luring Grover away to make sure the trio was late. Let's just say there might be a reason you won't understand for a while, but overall I really like Hermes. I actually like him more in the show, which surprised me because I wasn't sure about Lin Miranda for the part (and Hermes does not appear really in the first book), but dang he pulls out an excellent performance. I'll have a lot more to say on the next episode but yeah, this episode isn't perfect, but really the cab scene is so perfect and hysterical I'm willing to overlook just about anything XD Again, loving these reactions! It's so fun getting to experience them again with a fresh perspective. I also REALLY appreciate that you pause the episode when you go on a tangent because I hate it when people don't pause and then miss important details!
OMG Thank you so much, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my reactions!! My episode 7 reaction will be up so soon 🤩 Ohh that makes sense that going back for Grover did make them later. I love that you said it’s in Percy’s nature to not lie but to still be kind. I totally see the perspective now that Hermes was trying to save them by not helping them! At first I was just confused why he wouldn’t wanna help save the world. But if he has tried before and others have suffered because of him, I get why he wouldn’t want to help now. HAHA the cab scene was the BEST part of the episode for sure!! So hilarious and chaotic, I couldn’t stop laughing. I’m sooo happy you’re loving my reactions! And I love the feedback that you’re glad I pause the show when I talk. That helps me out knowing I’m filming and editing it right. I never wanna miss the details! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! 🥰
I was so excited to see your reaction for the following episodes! I cant wait to see ep 7 and 8! And ofc i dont want to spoil, but Luke's mom thing is explained later in the series and the reason why Hermes is not helping is also explained later too! And as other comments said, yes, the gods on the contrary of the movies CAN see their children, but they won't for varios reasons. The only ones who cannot see and live with their children are Zeus, Poseidon and Hades because due to the oath, their children should not exist in the first place, so it just puts them in danger if they are involved in their lives.
OMG Thank you so much!!! I’m glad they’ll explain and explore Luke’s family later on! Ohhhh I guess that makes sense that with the oath Percy shouldn’t even exist so Poseidon visiting him would put Percy in danger with monsters and evil creatures. I guess I get it from that perspective. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! 😊🤍
Totally valid to be sus on the godly parents. To answer some of your questions though, Poseidon specifically had to stay away because he wasn't supposed to have kids in the first place and if someone caught wind that he was hanging out with this random single mom and her kid the jig would be up and Percy would've been in a lot of danger. As for Hermes, it's a little more complicated. We never got an in-dept exploration into Seers in the books, but it was implied that you were either born able to see through the Mist or not. So Hermes' presence wouldn't've hurt Luke's mom in that way. But there are other ways that getting involved can hurt people. Can't say more. Anyway, Hermes wasn't in The Lightning Thief book, so this role in the story is new to him so I can't offer any more explanation than that. But just from watching this scene, it's clear that whatever happened back then is influencing his decision now.
OHHHH how did I completely forget about the Forbidden Child plot 🤣 I totally forgot Percy shouldn’t even exist, so that makes a lot of sense why Poseidon wouldn’t be around him for Percy’s safety. Hermes wasn’t in the first book?!? That’s such a big difference for the show. I can’t wait to learn more about Luke and their family! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
If you go back and watch all the people in the casino more closely, look at the variety of clothing/outfits they are all wearing. There's clothing from different decades (and the vehicles in the parking garage reinforce this), indicating that people have been stuck inside the casino for nearly 100 years (for the "oldest"), the Lotus scent is so powerful. As for the scent not "working" on Percy and Annabeth, it does, just not as powerful, because their conversation topics kept reminding them of their goal. Sadly, they didn't talk about Grover after they spit, and so the Lotus scent did work on their memories of him with greater effect.
I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THE OUTFITS!!! I almost said something but figured it didn’t matter. I can’t believe the people have been in there for hundreds of years. I totally get now how the lotus air would work more powerfully on Grover if he didn’t have someone to anchor him back to reality. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know!! 😊🤍
There are some things I want to say “wow, well done on correctly picking up on so many future plot points!” There is plenty you’re way off on, and I will not specify what you’re right about, but it is remarkable. Annabeth ran away when she was 7. Safe to say, she has plenty of unpleasant memories of her family. Hermes… has a very complicated situation with May Castellan and her son Luke. As they said, she is a seer, and sometimes gets glimpses of the future. We don’t know how much was Hermes’ fault, but something happened that broke her sanity. Hermes blames himself, and May deteriorated until Luke ran away at the ripe old age of nine. The entire thing with Hermes is show-original. In the book, they get lulled into the casino solely off the coolness and end up spending time and forgetting themselves all on their own. Once they get out, they convince a mortal cab driver to rush them to LA using hotel bucks, essentially. The behind the scenes of Walter Scobell filming the underwater stuff is incredible. That kid did a lot of training to make those underwater scenes work, and it shows. But don’t worry; there are trainers in dive suits right behind him ready to give him air between takes.
Poor Annabeth, I can’t believe she was only 7! I definitely have more sympathy for Hermes and his situation after thinking about it a little longer. That’s so interesting how different the book is from this episode! The underwater filming is crazy!!!! I can’t wait to react to the documentary and watch how they filmed that, that’s so fascinating. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
OK, so yes, seers are regular mortals who can see through the mist if we get a long enough TV show, we will meet more of them later. It’s also mentioned in the books that when Sally Jackson was younger, she could see through the mist, which is what attracted Poseidon to her in the first place. Second the lotus casino is intended to draw people in regardless of age in the book it had a whole section that was specifically targeted towards kids and teenagers filled with video games but no in a real life casino, children are not allowed to just walk around. Lastly, it’s an important thing to note that all demigods get prophetic dreams the way that Percy does it’s not necessarily some thing that means he’s a chosen one.
That’s so fascinating that Sally is a Seer!!! I love that. Why does it drive some people mad and others are fine though? I know most demigods get bad dreams like Luke said in episode 2, but I meant bad dreams with the dementor character talking to them through their dreams. Do they all have prophetic dreams like that? Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
Love your excitement and positivity in these reviews, a very fun watch! Really looking forward to your reactions to ep 7 and 8 ^^ For this ep, my favourite part was definitely the driving scene lol though Grover’s emotional thread about wanting to search for Pan really got me as well.
Thank you so much, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my reactions!! 🤩 Same, the cab driving scene had me cracking up the entire time and I loved Grover’s emotional speech about saving the natural world! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊🤍
SERIOUSLY I hated that part!!! I get why Hermes wouldn’t wanna help them now but there is literally no reason to trigger their traumatic flashbacks, like they’re kids!!! Ugh, that made me mad lol
My prediction of why grover doesnt remember anything is because he was alone..for no one to anchor him to the real world and no one to remind him what he was there for...and the crazy goat just forgot everything cuz of the lotus air kinda sad..and sally just calling him and him being like gomez addams Showing up seconds after she calls like "you rang?"
I LOVE how you described the anchor!! That really makes Grover forgetting everything because he was alone make a lot more sense when you put it that way. That’s really sad if the older goat man was just as much a victim to it as Grover. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
Actually, in Vegas families with children are allowed to stay in the hotels, not only adults. The main rule is, when underage people are walking through the casinos they have to keep walking. They're not allowed to walk up to the tables or machines or stop and watch for too long or someone will come talk to them, but in general they are fine to walk through and observe from afar. There's also casinos with areas more intended for kids (like Circus Circus I think?). In the books, this casino was supposed to be a bit more family friendly and have big sections that feel like an arcade and carnival, probably closer to Circus Circus (though I've never been in there). The outside seemed to have rollercoaster tracks, but other than that and the VR stuff, they didn't do as good of a job at making it feel like there were kid friendly sections of it. They could've at least walked past the arcade section or something in the background besides just a bunch of poker and roulette tables. I love the rest of the show but TBH this casino episode felt weaker than the others, and the movie almost did it better (apart from the ridiculous stuff with Grover... mostly they did the set design better).
I totally did not remember the casino is also a hotel 😂 That makes all the kids being there make a LOT more sense. Knowing the hotel was more for families definitely makes sense too.
Yeah omg that’s so sad that the Satyr was just as much a victim to the casino as Grover was! I was totally going on a wild goose chase with my theories lol I mean it is a magical time traveling casino so anything can happen but still 😂 That’s so sad they couldn’t save the older satyr. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know! 🤍
I think one of my favorite parts of the series was the perspective Riordan wrote where the gods are very very INHUMAN creatures. Like they "love" their children and they try to be human sometimes but everytime theres this otherside of them being just seemingly incapable of properly caring for them. Like luke i think is absolutely justified in hating hermes, who repeatedly exposed a woman who was already sensitive to the magical world to one of the most powerful and overwhelming beings in world, because he felt like he should be a part of their lives. And Athena who is shown to be so incredibly proud and vindictive that the moment one of her most loyal daughters slips up for a second she rips away her sanctuary. I do appreciate that the show isnt afraid to show that the gods are not "good" and we have to reconcile that our heroes are not only victims of them but also champions and agents for their goals
Ok, so yeah, just gor your information, that guy at the start, like the manifestation of the dementor looking guy, was Percys headmaster from episode one. This is because, at least Im pretty sure is because, that was when he last felt betrayed, obvioulsy grover ratting him out. Also, another thing! I think your forgetting one of Percys friend, or at the least a new one... either way, great reaction, love to see it, keep up the effort, your doing great!
That’s so interesting about Percy dreaming about the headmaster because that’s when he last felt betrayed! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my reactions!! 😊🤍
2:59 hmmmmm 3:37 hmmmmm 4:54 this is a great mental image 7:10 this is EXACTLY what they did in the books 7:50 wise girl ❤ 8:37 well in the books it was a hotel too, idk why theyre allowed here 9:04 born that way :) at least in the books 10:43 red flags red flags!! 14:50 Alexander Hamilton! 16:14 he loved them. those situations are hard :( 17:44 he feels like itll hurt the kids worse, that they'll def die if they go to the underworld. but the gods are morally grey 29:01 they... didnt really have one eesh 29:59 in the books, they got a hotel room, took naps/showers/snacks and then played video games. In the movie, they were partying. 30:18 same mixed feelings as Percy!
HAHA “hmmmm” 😂 Do they really play games and party in the books? That’s so funny. The Lotus being a hotel makes the kids being there make a LOT more sense lol. That’s interesting the Seers are born that way! I totally see the perspective now that Hermes was trying to save the kids by not helping them. I’m so glad you explained how the book/movie/show casino scenes are different. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊🤍
They don't describe the mist very well in the show, but also they had so much info to cram in and were already struggling with the amount of exposition it seems. You are correct that the mist is a pretty hard line between average humans and the mythical world, however there are very rare cases when a human can see through the mist. Often, these are the humans the gods fall in love with, such as Percy's mom. It's not really clear why they are seers. We (minor spoilers?) meet one later in the series who just has that ability/was born that way. But it's never really stated if Percy's mom or Luke's mom or anyone else's mortal parents who can see were born that way or if they became that way after meeting the god, or how it happened exactly, but we can probably assume that some humans just have that ability by random chance, and it's a rare occurrence. But yeah it's just like how the Dursleys, Mrs Figg and Hermione's parents, were a few rare cases when muggles were allowed to know about the magical world.
Ohh I didn’t make the connection that the gods often fall for the Seers. All of that is so interesting, I love learning about that stuff! I LOVE your Harry Potter reference omg that helped me understand it so much 😂 Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 🤍
17:37 nono ur missing the point. He told them that he's helped others go thru the underworld and it always ends up bad. With that bad of a streak, do u still wanna be the reason another soul experiences that? He _knows_ that helping them will not actually help. He's a God. And he would essentially lead them to their deaths. The Gods know. They know very well how easy it is to trigger a tragedy by interfering with mortals. Esp if they found out abt their tragic fate and wants to prevent it. Only, one meets their fate by taking the path to avoid it. That's why they set up rules and suppress themselves. And this time he couldn't leave his family with Luke alone. And that lead to their downfall. Not necessarily that Hermes was the sole reason things went bad. It just supposedly is. edit: And we _are_ supposed to empathise with him. He's one of the chillest gods who more or less has good intentions. Or at least, he doesn't have a reason to have bad ones. I think you're misinterpreting this one. It'd be best for you to remember with this one important rule above all: GODS CAN'T INTERFERE WITH MORTAL FATES. or else there will be punishments, consequences, and tragedies. Always.
Yeah I totally see the perspective now that Hermes was trying to save them by not helping them! 😊🤍
wow That tshirt design!!!! You are so talented Edit: It's also funny cause Hermes is not just a god. He's the god of thieves! Annabeth stole from the god of thieves😂 Another Edit: "What was their plan?" I love how you were concerned but Percy's inner monologue half of the time is just "well fck fck fck fck Annabeth will figure it out"
OMG THANK YOU!!! I love wearing this sweatshirt so much 🥰 Lol yeah I love that Annabeth literally stole from the god of thieves. HAHA I love that Percy’s inner monologue is that Annabeth will figure it out. I mean he’s not wrong 😂 Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 🤍
When it comes to seeing through the mist. The best way I can explain it is that it's a natural ability/gift that certain people have that varies depending on the individual. Some people happen to be stronger with the ability than others which sometimes enables them to be able to do more with the ability than other people. I really hope that this series keeps going and makes it through all 5 books. The Story does keep getting better and better as it goes. I have read the books and I love how Rick Riordan has intergraded the Greek Mythology into present day. There's stuff in the upcoming books that I really want to see on screen. There's also other new characters in the upcoming books who I think you'll really like. I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the next two episodes.
That’s a great way of explaining the Mist and makes a lot more sense! I can’t wait to see new seasons and meet new characters. I just finished filming my reactions to episodes 7 and 8 so those videos will be up so soon! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊
I think you misunderstood. Hermes won't help because any time he tries to. Something punishes the hero he is helping. Usually, they die. He was telling Percy and Annabeth that he isn't going to be the reason they die trying to complete the quest. If a god directly helps an adventurer in a quest that was determined by fate. The reason nothing bad happened with Posidon or Ares is the requirements to give aid were met. A heroic act gets a godly reward. Just handing over aid doesn't work. Messed up world laws. There is a chance that fate will punish both the god in question and the mortal/half-blood receiving aid. It's a stupid part of greek mythos. Thats why alot of the greek stories are tragedies. Hermes also only came around Luke and his mom because he knew they wanted him around. And Luke was his fave kid at the time. But what happened because of that seems to have made Hermes decide the best way to "help" is to stay away. Like Posidon told him.
Yeah I totally see the perspective now that Hermes was trying to save them by not helping them! At first I was just confused why he wouldn’t wanna help save the world. But if he has tried before and others have suffered because of him, I get why he wouldn’t want to help now. And I didn’t realize Luke and his mom actually wanted Hermes around! I thought it was the opposite. That’s so sad it ended so badly then. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know all this!! 😊🤍
its not just the fact his a god, Hermes is also the god of thieves, so its actually kinda funny Annabeth thought she could pick pocket the god of thieves without him noticing, like your good annabeth but not THAT good XD
Lol seriously! Although if anyone could trick the god of thieves I would bet on Annabeth. But Hermes is a literal god sooo maybe not 😂 Thanks so much for watching!! 🤍
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns while they may look human, gods are incredibly incredibly over powered in Percy Jackson and the myths which I am happy Percy Jackson kept, so unless they are restricted in some way which tends to happen a lot since they have a lot of ancient rules they need to follow, then it be impossible for a mortal to defeat them in one of their own domains/powers. Like if you really think about it, the gods have thousands, millions of years experience with what they have control over so unless restrictions and diry tricks apply then no mortal should be able to best them in that domain/power that they have control over. So Annabeth was fairly silly to think she could but I think another commenter said that I agree with, that it, high lights one of Annabeth character flaws, she often thinks she can do better than others, sure sometimes she can, however against a god especially in his area of expertise? Just no Annabeth XD
The mist is less of a wall and more like a disguise. For example, when Percy is fighting a monster with his sword, the mortals would see a kid beating up a dog, or something like that, with like a baseball bat. However, mortals who are "seers" (People who are born with the ability to see through the mist) would be able to see his sword and the monster.
after you finish reacting to all the episodes, i would really like to see you react to the books so if you could just make a small video after reading the book if you read it and i really hope that you do. Also what the oracle says does not mean what it always seems as a prophercy is always a bit twisted so maybe when she said ''friend" she meant one he will make or something like that
I will definitely be doing that!! I just filmed my reactions to episodes 7 and 8 and OMG that ending was insane and I can’t wait to actually read the first book now! I’m gonna vlog my reading journey and talk about how it’s different from the show so stay tuned for that 😊 Thank you so much for watching! 🤍
Haha omg I love that!! I can totally see the names starting out as insults or banter and then turning into terms of endearment. That’s adorable! Thank you so much for watching!! 😊🤍
18:08 he legit told them why he was against helping them in the beginning "do you know what happens when people go to the entrance of the underground?"
Yeah so true! I totally see the perspective that Hermes was trying to save them, but at the same time the literal world is at stake sooo it seems like the time to take some risks lol.
Demi-gods dreams are kinda like vision…not quite like Harry but similar….they can see things that are go8ng to happen but most of the time no one else is there…having ***** controlling the dream is special…it happens a few time in the serie vut most of the time they’re “alone”
Oh that’s so interesting that some humans are born with just enough magic in them to see the magical world but not enough to be a part of it. I hope there’s more crossovers with the human and magical world later on!! Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! 😊
Humans that see through the myst are born like this and I think is not a spoiler but Sally sees through the myst and there is a future character that does it as well
That’s crazy!!! I can’t wait to react to the documentary and watch how they did that. That’s so fascinating. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
Plus in the books they got a room at the casino and there was a video game arcade were they stayed for days before they realized
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Yeah this episode didn't do as well at adapting from the book. I like the idea of getting help/info from Hermes there, so that was a good addition, but other than that I think the fandom agrees this episode was probably the weakest of the season. Still good, and the show is great overall, but if we had to rank the episodes this one would probably be pretty low.
not only is hermes a god, he is also a god of thieves so it was very funny that annabeth thought that she pulled off that theft
Lol seriously! Although if anyone could trick the god of thieves, I’d bet on Annabeth. Thanks so much for watching! 😊🤍
Lol I definitely did not realize it was a family friendly casino at first 😆 Thanks so much for watching and letting me know!!
Ohhh I guess that does make sense. Then monsters and evil creatures would’ve probably been drawn to Percy more as a kid if Poseidon had visited more
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesignsnot just that, but it’s an agreement between Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon to not have anymore Demi-god children after WW2 (as in this canon, it was between the children of the Big 3) as Luke said in the 2nd episode.

Thank you so much for watching and letting me know 😊
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Yayyy you will react to the documentary!
When she said "its like he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. " I was like, girl just you wait 😂
OH NOOO lol I’m not looking forward to Percy’s responsibility getting even worse 😅 Thanks for watching! 🤍
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Yo no creo que se refiera a la responsabilidad de Percy si no a algo más literal pero espero lleguemos a la temporada 3 para que se entienda la referencia

Thank you so much for watching, I hope you loved it 🥰
I could not stop laughing when Percy was trying to drive Hermes Taxi
Ohhh I didn’t know that about the vr! That’s so interesting. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know 😊
“Can kids be in casino?!” Girl wait to meet Nico😂
Lol I can’t wait to meet all the new characters!! 🤩
In the books, they don’t talk to Hermes, they start playing in the casino that looks more like a Disney park lol. Percy talks to boy and realizes he thinks they’re in the 60s, then percy also realizes he forgot his moms name and them he go find Anna Beth and Grover to leave.
Oh WOWWW I love that book version of the realization, that’s crazy. I kinda wish they kept that in!
Idk my theories were flying all over the place with the satyr 😂
WHAT?! That is a MASSIVE difference from the books!!!!
That’s super smart that Annabeth would know not to trust the casino this time!!
Thank you soooo much for watching and commenting!!! 🥰
For someone who said you didn’t want to spoil anything, you sure have spoiled a lot
Oh that makes a lot of sense why Annabeth would instantly know it’s serious if it’s about demigod dreams. Thanks for explaining that!
It's so funny that in a later book Percy is all like i have finally got a driver's lisence and i am good, as the taxi scene wasn't in the book, they had a funnier way to get going which i won't tell in case you end up reading the book as it was a very funny moment which i don't see others mentioning enough
HAHA that’s so funny, I really hope they reference this cab driving scene in future seasons! 😂 Thanks so much for watching 🤍
Since you’ve watched the rest of the episodes, like calling them a married couple served as a distraction for both the viewers and Percy and annabeth . Percy got so embarrassed he changed the subject. The viewers got so excited we didn’t realise Luke was snooping about ares .
I didn’t even realize that’s what Luke was doing!!! That’s so brilliant of him omg. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
23:09 not just that. He's the _God of thieves._ Of course he knows lol
Hahaha for real 😂 Annabeth really thought she could steal from him. Thanks for watching! 😊
I'll have a lot more to say on the next episode but yeah, this episode isn't perfect, but really the cab scene is so perfect and hysterical I'm willing to overlook just about anything XD
Again, loving these reactions! It's so fun getting to experience them again with a fresh perspective. I also REALLY appreciate that you pause the episode when you go on a tangent because I hate it when people don't pause and then miss important details!
OMG Thank you so much, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my reactions!! My episode 7 reaction will be up so soon 🤩
Ohh that makes sense that going back for Grover did make them later.
Omg the thing you said about Grover becoming Pan happens in the 4 book spot on
Totally valid to be sus on the godly parents.
Really looking forward to your reactions to ep 7 and 8 ^^
For this ep, my favourite part was definitely the driving scene lol though Grover’s emotional thread about wanting to search for Pan really got me as well.
Thank you so much, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my reactions!! 🤩 Same, the cab driving scene had me cracking up the entire time and I loved Grover’s emotional speech about saving the natural world! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊🤍
Not Hermes with the ptsd hands😭😭
The Lotis is both a hotel and a casino so that’s why there were some kids there.
OH!!! 😂 That makes a lot more sense lol. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know! 🤍
Bro no, the Satyr guy was just a victim of the casino. Some things are just not that deep. This show is more philosophically driven than technicality.
I do appreciate that the show isnt afraid to show that the gods are not "good" and we have to reconcile that our heroes are not only victims of them but also champions and agents for their goals
lol 11:45 I totally took that the exact opposite not “dude ofc you can ask me” but “dude I can’t promise that I won’t make fun of you” hahahha
HAHAHA that’s hilarious I can hear it both ways now 😂 Thanks so much for watching! 🤍
Luke says in episode 2 most of not all Demigods have bad dreams like this, and it's true in the books too!
That’s so interesting! Thanks so much for watching 😊
2:59 hmmmmm
3:37 hmmmmm
4:54 this is a great mental image
7:10 this is EXACTLY what they did in the books
7:50 wise girl ❤
8:37 well in the books it was a hotel too, idk why theyre allowed here
9:04 born that way :) at least in the books
10:43 red flags red flags!!
14:50 Alexander Hamilton!
16:14 he loved them. those situations are hard :(
17:44 he feels like itll hurt the kids worse, that they'll def die if they go to the underworld. but the gods are morally grey
29:01 they... didnt really have one eesh
29:59 in the books, they got a hotel room, took naps/showers/snacks and then played video games.
It'd be best for you to remember with this one important rule above all:
GODS CAN'T INTERFERE WITH MORTAL FATES.
or else there will be punishments, consequences, and tragedies. Always.
Yeah I totally see the perspective now that Hermes was trying to save them by not helping them! 😊🤍
wow That tshirt design!!!! You are so talented
Edit: It's also funny cause Hermes is not just a god. He's the god of thieves! Annabeth stole from the god of thieves😂
Another Edit: "What was their plan?" I love how you were concerned but Percy's inner monologue half of the time is just "well fck fck fck fck Annabeth will figure it out"
OMG THANK YOU!!! 🤍
@@WeCouldBeHeroesDesigns Your reactions are the best!
Ohhh that explanation makes a lot more sense!! I was confused about how that works. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! 🥰
This reaction series be like:
Character: Says literally anything
Sarah: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
😂😂 Sorry to personally attack you
HAHA it’s true 🤣 I’ll take it as a compliment lol I love these characters
after you finish reacting to all the episodes, i would really like to see you react to the books so if you could just make a small video after reading the book if you read it and i really hope that you do.
seaweed brain and wise girl are their nicknames for each other, it started as kind of an insult but then they (and us lol) became fond of it 😂🩵
Haha omg I love that!!
Don’t worry Percy is clueless enough about Greek mythology for everyone
Also Pan is the god of the wild
HAHA oh good I’ll be just as clueless as Percy 😂
@@RebeccaMarch-xl7lcOH thank you for letting me know! 😊
Demi-gods dreams are kinda like vision…not quite like Harry but similar….they can see things that are go8ng to happen but most of the time no one else is there…having ***** controlling the dream is special…it happens a few time in the serie vut most of the time they’re “alone”
Ohhh that’s all so interesting!! Thanks so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
8:33 If they're accompanied by an adult and stay away from the machines
Ohh interesting! Thank you so much for watching and letting me know!! 😊🤍
Can't wait for you to react to the last episodes
so from what I remember it is the way they are born like take sally she can see through the mist
Oh that’s so interesting that some humans are born with just enough magic in them to see the magical world but not enough to be a part of it. I hope there’s more crossovers with the human and magical world later on!! Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! 😊
I don’t mean to spoil anything, but ur right abt Grover “ becoming “ pan. It happens in the fourth book
Just wanted to say:
You have been referring Grover as a “12 year old child”
But he’s actually 24 years old, sayters just develop slower than humans do
So Grover is chronologically 24 but developmentally 12.
RIGHT lol sometimes I forget 😂 Isn’t he technically 24 in goat years but still a kid in human years?
@@fairycat23That makes sense! Thanks for letting me know 😊
i love your sweater
@@macrooooo__ thank you so much!! I loved designing it and I wear it all the time 🥰
Humans that see through the myst are born like this and I think is not a spoiler but Sally sees through the myst and there is a future character that does it as well
That’s so interesting!! I was wondering how Sally was able to see and know the things she does. Thanks so much for watching and letting me know 😊🤍
Gods helping demigods directly is against the rules. "Oh no she stole my car keys whatever shall I do~" is fine tho
lin manuel is always a win also go watch IN THE HEIGHTS
lets just shoutout Leah aka annabeth... BLACK GIRL MAGIC.. what casting and also halle bailey aka ariel.. haters BEGONE!!!!
I think Luke intentionall throwaway that comment to distract them 😏
HOW DID I NOT REALIZE THAT?!?! That’s so clever of him!! Thanks so much for watching and letting me know 😊
10:04 - He was actually only 9 years old I think
😭 "Promo sm"
Fun fact. That underwater scene was the last scene Walker filmed to wrap up the season and took all day.
That’s crazy!!! I can’t wait to react to the documentary and watch how they did that. That’s so fascinating. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! 😊🤍
"the whole weight of the world is on his shoulders" ohh we might wanna get back to that in season 3 🫠
