I am a Filipino a truck driver here in the USA ive been here for 9year now. One time i was on a fuel bay, fueling my truck when i finished fueling I just learned that I locked my keys inside my truck. So it took me a long time in that fuel bay trying and thinking how to open the door. A person who helped me is a black American and he is very friendly very helpful and a very good person.

I mistook you for one of the greatest Basketball players of all time, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Without a doubt, you resemble him. He plays basketball well. When others gaze at you because they can't help but notice how unlike us you are, I wholeheartedly concur with you. When I was in Poland for a trip to Europe, I saw that I was followed everywhere I went. There were incredibly few colored people in Poland between 2011 and 2012. Being seen as a brown Filipino for the first time made me uneasy because I believed I appeared abnormal or strange-looking. Fortunately, I have a Jamaican friend who is darker skinned than I am, and she explained to me why we were the focus of everyone's attention.

I understood every word you said and I liked this content. And that little girl? She's not afraid of big people! Maybe it's atypical of most young children her age but she's legit nice and friendly - a very Filipino trait. There's some foreigner who said he got lost in Mt. Province but the locals helped him out and fed him. That's how we generally are as a people. Thank you for this vlog.

Traveling all over the world makes you realize there are many good people out there. Filipinos by nature, are good and loving people. We also have what may consider sick humor. @@vidgood8682 I don't know why it's wrong to politely correcting people. I started by asking "MAY I correct..." showing respect. "Ain't nothing" is grammatically wrong. It's like a slang. Fililinos adore foreigners. The country is sacred in terms of human values. There's so much love , care, compassion, empathy, etc.... it all starts at home, the culture is superb on family values and helping friends, neighbors and strangers. They give instant respect, but once the trust is gone....you're in a long battle that you might not win.

...I worked with a Filipina at the STIHL manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach. This was about 10 years ago. I think she had married a white guy who was a truck driver and came to the states. She didn't talk much but the more I got to know her the more I could tell she knew very little about the U.S. outside of what she saw on television. For the time I worked there I tried to educate her on a lot of things because you don't want to be naive going around the U.S. The thing about it was it seemed her husband really didn't take time to educate her he just threw her out there working third shift.

    • @aarondantetalks

Bless you, brother. See, and these are the guys who complain when their wives see they have rights here. He should have educated her on living in the matrix. When you take a Filipina away from her family, she will change into a different person. Most of the for the worst. I pray she finds support, but I bet she is probably no later with this man.

13:40 The vast majority of Filipinos have absolutely "no" experience with black Americans. We just don't travel in large numbers like that and when we do it's generally not to the Philippines. Not sure about their experience with Africans or what not. BUT most peoples bias about most anything is not based on "experience" but "media" and second hand information. Filipinos don't have a problem with black people for the most part (many of them are just a dark, lol) - but when it comes to dating, marrying or the possibility of having a dark skin baby, that is where the issue is.

Good point on open-mindedness, acceptance, and just overall positive attitude. If everybody thinks the same way, what a better world it would be. But since it's not that way and may never can be that way, just being open and accepting would help a lot. Thanks And oh by the way, Filipinos stare at Caucsasians too, especially in areas where there are not many foreigners visiting. But then again, it boils down to education. And just that Filipinos are just curious and sensitive in general. Just wants to get the noses in almost everything. Positively, it gets us to discover and uncover things. :)

AD thank you for sharing your knowledge on the people of the Philippines.
As a 17-year resident of the Midwest - United States, I've found it tough for black guys to receive true assistance due to the criminal stereotype of our brothers. Our black brothers are depicted as "dangerous" here, and this was engineered by the government, which permitted systematically inhumane actions to intimidate black males. Black people are treated brutally, and it is our resilience that allows us to fight the BS.
America is plagued by both racism and classism, but many other countries are primarily plagued by classism.
When visiting a new country, it is critical to establish genuine relationships and learn the new culture.

That's just not totally true about other countries and especially the Philippines! Go talk to Filipino that are Black some may call as mixed! Find them on Tv that are not gay or have some other issues or in news media or having employment in malls or owning businesses. I actually have a screenshot of a TV show produced in the Philippines with the use of black face in a derogatory way. Racism in the Philippines is not Overt like in America, it's Covert! And I've got years of experience to know better! You all despite being Black can get caught up in some fantasy but i know the Truth and will just Smh while you go ahead and promote a lie to feel good! I've got the stories from experience and it has nothing to do with whether one smiles or not. Certain people all over this world, not just black peoples, face biases prejudices discrimination hatred whether because of Religious affiliations, so called Race or colorism and as well classism, so please don't spread a false narrative!
If the black man that has this TH-cam channel comes back to the Philippines opens a restaurant hires all darker skinned people and puts his face on the signage of the business sells a product, a good product, and the locals/Filipino patronise and make that business a success and a brand then that'll be something to talk about! Not the nonsense narrative that many in the comments are saying! It's like saying black men are involved in wrongdoing, that's Nonsense the same as saying Filipino are friendly! Like a Scientist, go try hard as possible to prove that statement Wrong! Then we'll see and know!
And btw, I have been helped personally by Filipino persons here and there during a period well over a decade, but I've seen the other side as well. Don't believe the TH-cam hype!

Filipinos are not racist people. Color does not matter. Thousands of Filipino women has black husband's. Even if they stray in remote areas in country sides they are highly respected and treated with great hospitability. For African American the Philippines aborigines the Negritoes are diminutive figures who can be found on Central Luzon in provinces as Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan and elsewhere, Filipinos are not so much particular with color of skin.

New subscriber here! I enjoy your video & way of thinking … even here in the USA black people would have a better experience if they didn’t come in so hard and not smile as you said. In the US there is this divide among black and Asian I found out after the LA rioting and Korean shop owners and blacks who stole from them over and over until they expected it from all black shoppers. I think your advice about don’t get offended so much would help too. Understanding is key & the way you think is great. Winning over people by showing them who you are… get to know people. Many other minorities go through it too but they just keep moving forward, better themselves and In turn have better experiences. Keep spreading your message !

Golden Rule works everywhere not just in the Philippines. It's only in the recent years that Filipinos are exposed to foreign vloggers, thanks to social media. When i was young we associated black people with boxers (Ali was popular in the Phil.) We also saw them on films and they were usually portrayed as villains and criminals. So we had that stereotype..I think it's a bit similar to Foreigners thinking all Filiipinos are poor because poverty in the Philippines is always featured in the news. Where i grew up was there was a US Base so we associated black guys with sailors. A girl in every port was the saying. This explains Lola's forward greeting to you. Another reason is the elderly are respected in the Philippines and regarded as authority in their opinions. The movies portray white actors as heroes and black people as the enemies. We also have colonial mentality having been colonized by Spain for 3 centuries and the US for 50 years. We admire fair skin. When i introduced a suitor to my mother when i was 21 she was not impressed. He was not fair but my mother did not tell him to his face. She told me privately that can i not get a fair guy? She said this because my father was very fair and he was her standard. But after I told her this guy is a good person if she gets to know him, she reconsidered. I married this guy and she loved him. You are absolutely right, it's the quality of the person, not the colour of his/her skin that wins people over.

And yes, about the staring, honestly, we just can't help it. I live in the area where you stayed and you know that area is foreigners' melting pot so I'm used to seeing foreigners but still can't help to (briefly) stare sometimes haha! But to foreigners reading comments, rest assured that we mean no harm, we are just curious. Just yesterday, I was in a jeepney (local public transport) and there was a white guy in there. Although it is not uncommon to see foreigners riding a jeepney but they really stand out. I was like, poor guy, he can't sit up straight coz he's tall and the jeepney's ceiling is very low (Filipino size! lol). We don't discriminate foreigners as long as you are respectful. Respect begets respect. Enjoy your (next) stay! Safe travels!

Pinoys is family oriented. Mostly Christian, we apply the love in the family & everyone. I grew up , didn't see my parents arguing in front of us . So I don't want my kids to see me & my husband arguing too. We talk when the kids are in their room safely sleeping . My husband understand & love me for that. I do what I know , my upbringing. Same with other families in my community. No parents disrespecting each other in front of their children & other people. People in the community , we treat each other like a Big family. Celebrations is open for everyone. If u didn't come , We ask why !? We bring food to those who didn't come ☺️ No loud people . Just those people who sings karaoke, which is common in d Philippines ☺️ Some sings even if they're out of tune 😬
