Nail polish has many disadvantages like cracking, it's not flexible, and hard to rework through it. Modified silicone conformal coating are made for this purpose 👍
hi, it's holding up great. I've been flying a naked vista for almost 2 years now in my sub 250 3 inch. It's been though many MANY crashes ( I think I'm on the 3rd frame now :) and the vista is still working perfect. Maybe I've just been lucky...
Thanks man 😃👊! That's a good question, I've been using nail polish for a long time on electronics, before drones I did PC watercooling and overclocking and we used nail polish around the cpu and gpu when using a conductive thermal paste to prevent the paste making shorts. These components ran 80 to 90°C for prolonged times and the nail polish was untouched even after years of use. I've been flying a naked Vista since march this year, on my sub 250 build, on 1000mw, and the nail polish doesn't seem cracked ( just checked 😄). So far so good, but I'll keep an eye on it!
I definitely 2nd the MG Chemicals Modified Silicone Conformal Coating. MG actually makes acrylic and eurathane sealant that's similar to nail polish, but I definitely prefer the flexible silicone.
That's a cool project! I have a naked vista in my sub 250gr 3 inch freestyle build. I've been flying it for a year now, and after many many many crashes, it's still working perfectly no issues. I even broke 2 frames during that year so can't say I've been gentle with it.
Does "waterproofing" the vista affect other things like thermal conductivity? Does it need to a maintained and reapplied? Really am not sure I want to do household hacks on my Vista units. I like the idea of further protecting naked vistas but yea, no thanks.
Hi, applying nail polish, conformal coating or anything that is put on in a thin layer will not have a big impact on heat dissipation. I started using it on my flight stacks of my 5"ers, I fly them all year long, and more electronics seamed to die in winter when everything is always wet or damp ( I almost don't fly bando's, always parks, forest, etc). I also fly props out, so even just taking off from wet grass, the stack always gets sprayed with water. Nail polish works for me, giving my electronics a bit more protection, and a longer lifespan. It doesn't need reapplying only a touch up after soldering through it. Before I was into drones, I did PC building, overclocking, watercooling, that sort of thing and even there we used nail polish to protect the board, like when using a conductive thermal paste (liquid metal ) to prevent it from making shorts. Maybe there are better ways to protect a naked Vista, and I'm not trying to convince anyone here, this is just how I do it, and I just wanted to share my experience. Sorry for the long write up 😄take care.
Hello everybody, is anyone know how to wire menu board into vista polar ? Cause i want to restore factory settings for vista. Please show me where to wire . Thank you so much.
Sorry it took me so long too answer, you need to remove the back cover from the camera and at the top there's 2 solder pads, I believe the left one is for the menu the right is ground. I was just wondering 3 days ago about nail polish and now, I so the video on YT. Thanks
That's great, happy to help! 👍

Thanks for the detailed walk-through 👌
👍 your welcome 🙂
Thank you going to do this with mine! How is it holding up ?

Nice video actually man.. love it. Imise mg chemical because im afraid nail polish will crack eventually also will it hold with vista heat?

Super film. Dziękuję
Thanks!
How is the naked vista holding up? Im doing a mobula7 digital soon

Is thermal glue the same as antenna glue ?
Hi, no it isn't, antenna glue can take the heat a vtx produces.
