Another idea is to add a bluetooth module to the flight controller and get rid of the USB wired connection once and for all. De-solder it even. Just use betaflight wirelessly on your phone or PC seems to be the better way to go. Adjust your rates in the field etc.

nice video. I was thinking, wouldn't it be easier to just put epoxy to cover up the edges of vista, (the only way water can get in) instead of all the hustle opening it up, would it over heat more or too much to be usable? What about adding an extra heatsink directly to plates to counter this. Also about the motors being waterproof, the reason they are is because the wire windings already have non conductive coating on it, but if you scratch the tiny wires it will leak a bit of current, its quite a tough coating though. Did you cover the wire solder to the motors though? My guess is this wouldn't even be a problem in fresh water, maybe some current will leak in salt water, but electricity always takes the most direct conductive route to close the circuit, that's why it will not jump through water if it has super conductive wire connection. Therefor I think it's not needed. I even dipped a 6S lipo battery with connector exposed into fresh water to test this and sure it will leak current and discharge slowly but there isn't enough conductivity to cause damage.

@@guatemalamini The O3 can be waterproofed. Quite a few people have done it in different ways. I'm currently trying my own way, but I probably killed a camera or it's cable. The unit itself seems fine so far and I guess the camera just has more need for cooling than I thought, so it's better to put thermal paste or thermal glue inside instead of lots of rubber sealant. The braided cable is a pain in the ass and so is that little sponge below the MIPI cable on the air unit, but covering it all with rubber sealant does the job. Others pour epoxy into the components or create sealed bags with butyl rubber. It's actually the camera that has cooling issues when waterproofed, the air unit is completely normal even with the vents covered. Since everything inside is fully packed, there is not much airflow through the vents anyways and most heat is dissipated through the metal case.

    • @TRONCATFPV
      @TRONCATFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You'll want the thermal paste on there if you have the metal shields on, yes. I wouldn't just put waterproofing over it though.. I can't imagine that would stick at all or truly protect the board even if it did.
I also don't think it would be wise to only use thermal paste to waterproof something like this. In a good crash into water I could see the thermal paste easily coming off enough to fry your vista lol.

Did anyone gonna tell him the vista is waterproof to begin with?

The vista is not waterproof, It’s water resistant.
If they are completely waterproof from the get-go, I’m shocked that nobody has advertised it as such.
The method in this video makes the vista completely waterproof and submergeable.

Why take all the glue off instead of just applying watercoat. Makes no difference. No need 😂

It does make a difference actually.
Not only are you saving weight but when the metal shields are on you can’t get waterproofing in between the boards in the middle where the ribbon cable lies. Water can get there through the 20x20 mounting holes.
I’d rather take the time to disassemble and do it right than worry about burning out a vista 😉

You realy put your lipo under wather? Battery like your is not waterproof an can blowup.

lol, your LiPo will not blow up if it is in water.
I have a couple waterproof drones and none of the LiPo's have had issues when submerged.

@@TRONCATFPV If you have damaged insulation or pressure forces water into the cells, then at best the battery will swell, at worst it can catch fire, th-cam.com/video/z02PS-byF4I/w-d-xo.html. you can get lucky 100 times and not in 101, why tempt fate?

If you're flying with damaged equipment you're going to have problems, thats a no brainer.
If you have a LiPo thats in good condition, it is waterproof and will be fine. In the video you linked he demonstrates this.

LiPos have to be airtight, otherwise they would burn. Airtight is even better than waterproof. You only have to worry if the LiPo is punctured, but then it will burn anyways.
