I come back to this every few years. I think it's a very similar story to not only Doublelift's journey, but how he represented a symbol for many people that didn't exist at the time.
This hits close to home for me. It's pretty emotional in the beginning... I lost my mom to cancer this year, (on mother's day of all days) and I ended up turning to video games to keep my mind of it (League being the main one). I didn't feel like doing anything. I guess playing the game kept my mind off of the situation & it also felt comforting because it was like nothing had changed. Very nice short film that shows the power of gaming & how it's not "a waste of time" to some people.
It also tells us to follow our dreams... If we've found the thing we love, we need to pursue it as more than just a hobby. For example imagine if Leonardo Da Vinci found out he loved painting, and was good at it, but thought it wasn't a viable career option so became a street vendor instead? Or If Walt Disney decided animation wasn't lucrative enough at the time and decided to become a shoe shiner or something... The point is: Like they said in the movie, most people in the history of humanity NEVER find anything they truly love.. they go through life repeating a set daily pattern(Eat, drink, work, sleep, repeat), doing a job they hate like a zombie, until they die. We as gamers *HAVE* found what we love, and it *IS* possible to make money from it, we just have to go out there and put in the effort. It's our duty as humans to end the cycle of zombies in the machine, and follow our dreams.
This was extremely beautiful to watch, loved every single little thing about it. The direction, the writing, the cast, the editing, everything about this short was just beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
League of Legnds is the only thing in my life that i have, every other things were ripped of in lots of different ways. Many people dont understand my passion, but its the only thing i have. It helps me forget about the past and if it stay like that it is never a waste of time. For everyone who thinks the same, stay strong and dont mind what others say or think. You find your passion and this is the one and only thing that counts.
Yeah, that's true but it's not easy just to go on a killing spree in any video game, then again, it's all just a mental thing we can't control, some people will become drug addicts and criminals, others, neckbeards living in their mom's basement, and lastly, some are extremely lucky to have the drive to go college and get secure jobs, it just a roll of a dice that's not in our control
bro there is a channel called game quitters his channel is dedicated on making people quit video games and he have 20k subs we gamers need to stop him it's no joke

I come back to this video just to re-feel how lost I was 2 years ago. I'm still mashing my way through life, but I don't feel as bad as I did. This was the first motivational video that made me realise I wasn't on the path I wanted to be on.
This hit home harder than I thought it would. After losing both of my parents at an early age and being raised by someone who was unknown to me, I struggled to find an outlet that could bring me peace as I made my way chaotically through public school. Video games be it hand held, console, or PC have been a staple for me in regards to relaxing and finding enjoyment in a life seemingly void of just that. I graduated with a degree in game design and passionately work on various games and titles while maintaining my enjoyment of this entertainment medium and I am thrilled that some are able to make a career out of pro gaming. Great film, great message.
This film was well-made, and it's definitely relatable for me. I started gaming at quite a young age, played games like Demonstar for a change, and then my gaming life started. I found out I loved video gaming and even I knew that if you stared at a computer screen for long periods of time, it'll take a huge toll on your body and so I played and still managed my hours. In today's era, video gaming is no longer a mere hobby for most, it's become life itself, it is now an official career path and those who hop on that train quickly know what's coming. For me video games aren't a waste of time anymore, you get to meet new people online and learn more about the world through a screen. My parents (especially my dad) are exactly like Alex's grandma, shoving me around and saying that all they want is "the best" for me. Even parents can lose touch with their kids, it's very possible, and certainly it has with me... Even video gaming depends on the player/user, whether it'll become a skill so that you can make yourself known (if you want to) and stand your ground or waste more of your time and not even planning to do anything with video gaming but just sit comfortably and lie to yourself that sitting playing your favorite video game will go on forever.... I'm pretty sure Alex took the chance to become an LCS player, but the main thing I learned from this is: "If you have a skill, it's your choice whether you wanna make use of it or not, but if it goes to waste then that's worse. And if you have a skill at doing what you love, then why not pursue something even further?" Personally, this short film has the quality of a full-on movie and should deserve more attention XD Thanks for creating GODLIKE, it re-inspires people like me..Thank you really..
Godlike I have to thank you for this, I hope you are able to make some bigger projects in the future, maybe with Riots help. Anyway I'm looking forward to what's comes next
Beautifully shot and can appreciate the narrative/acting. A serious look at gaming is definitely something the film industry should consider; that or more crowd-funding for projects like this. Well made guys! :D
Just in case it hasn't been told, please make this into a series! This was beautiful and I would love to see more of this. If you have seen this kind of comment before and you said no, please reconsider. Obviously lots of people of love it and also want to see more. I mean hell, this was mentioned on the League of Legends home page. You made it far. You can make it farther if you make this into a series. PLEASE MAKE MORE!
No no no no! This was way to good to be a 1 time thing. This has to be a series. There is so much to make out of this, How much money do I need to pay and where. This HAS to be a series!
after watching this i honestly don't see how so many of the comments are just prude jokes and humorous remarks. this video hit me so hard. i've struggled with depression for the past years and i've had family issues as well and my mom and. anyways when i first started playing league it really helped. i would put on my headset and get into a match feeling apart of a different world full of new people and new things. no one to mess with me at school and no mental breakdowns when dealing with family. just the game that made me feel great. it's more than just a game honestly and a lot of people dont look at it like that. they just blow it off. it's an escape, a coping skill, a lifestyle, a hobby, a passion. i always feel great and even when im getting trolled in a ranked game or on a huge losing streak im happy knowing im apart of the league community. and i want to give a huge THANK YOU to you for uploading this and for everyone apart of this. such great great acting. made me tear up at times. thank you for expressing things so well in this video.
***** If it involves league, overwatch ca, cs, h1z1, rs, im probably there. I spend a TON of time on youtube and twitch, basically whenever im not at work or uni im playing league or on yt. Just something im super passionate about. Always have loved it.
Much respect. I cried several times. Epic and inspiring. God speed to you Alex. Godspeed. I'm sorry for your loss. She's still with you. You'll see her again.
This is like a movie or a documentary from National Geographic! And the Quality! JUST GOD DAMN! PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS I WANT TO SEE YOUR MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS
What was so motivating about this? Play games and waste some more time? Become anti social 40 year old with no job? Disrespect your one and only sibling that supports your ass? Or motivational speech how you should smoke instead of playing games because it is psychologically healthier? Or turning down opportunities when they arise?
If you think playing games is a waste of time, why are you here? A lot of my friends play games, have careers and are very social. His mom just died and granny wouldn't allow him time to mourn and kept calling him a name he didn't like or go by, his mom didn't even call him that name. Who disrespected who? Seems gran was the one doing the disrespecting for not supporting his passion. The girl was a troll, obviously...yet she spoke up for him when they asked who wanted to play with the pro team. You think he turned down the opportunity at the end? Looks like he walked into his house with a blue team liquid shirt...just like the members were wearing under their white jackets. I guess you just have a different outlook on life than half the US population that plays video games.
JetCityHooligan FYI more than half of us population is stupid as fuck, hence why 90% of scientist and college graduates are foreign... there is no different outlook on life... Its called knowledge, you just need to grow up and realize it. I've been in US 11 years and i own 2 paid of houses that i rent out, i am 28 years old and make 4400 from rent, 1800 from VA disability and 2400 from my job that i don't even have to attend. Additionally, last year received bachelors in IT. Right now i am attending CISCO certification training. When i was 12 i got adopted by a Russian family, after highschool i saved up money and came to america with "work and travel visa" Join army to get citizenship and bought a house with va loan... I had a battle buddy, a friend of mine who played League, he is the one who showed me this game.. He still play it. He got out now and lives with his sister that i dated, she pay for his rent. She called me concerning about him that all he does is play games.. Now tell me where the fuck is your outlook? I bet you work at the dead end job and live in apartment... or you are too young and live with your mother am i right?
Chill guys, not everything is meant for everyone. It's bad for someone yet it's good for someone else. We don't need to show who is better than the other yet embrace the fact that we are living the way we wanted. You got what you want and he got what he wants. Welcome to the US. Thank you for joining the army.
This was so touching the way he did what he loved. I can not wait to obtain my new computer equipment and try and make my dream to be a TH-camr/Streamer come true.
This was brilliantly made. It was very close to putting me to tears and i'm very satisfied. Please, if you can continue to make more short films of this nature. It was truly a work of art.
a wonderfully made combination of two of my favourite things -- film and league of legends. The editing and cinematograhpy was amazing *-* hope this gets more recognition!
Man the first minutes had me into tears. I dont know if the story is based on your real life but I am just amazed this video is a masterpiece wish you the best
I have always wanted to be a pro at csgo as i am trying to now and living in an area in london where it is pretty dangerous and that my parents dont like me playing i will always follow my dreams and i hope you will too
I feel like (and I know this is just a story) you and your grandmother are kind of right. 8 hours is a long time to sit in one spot, but all that time shouldn't be spent studying. Like study first, go have a social life, then play video games. That's what I try to do. Love the video man! (The comment wasn't so much meant for you because I am sure you don't actually play for that long, but in general for people with the same problem. Love you!
Sequel please? :D this really sends a message to people who think gaming is "a waste of time". Plus I want to see him get into the pro circuit, and show his grandma he can be somebody in the world of esports
Ending was quite blah, plus the credits were all glitched out. But overall was a nice touching story, that I feel many can relate to in one way or another.
This is excellent. Fucking amazing. It's easy to identify and empathize with Alex, and the way the music and shots were done and woven together is astounding. The moments of silence were absolutely perfect.

I'm pretty sure Alex took the chance to become an LCS player, but the main thing I learned from this is:
"If you have a skill, it's your choice whether you wanna make use of it or not, but if it goes to waste then that's worse. And if you have a skill at doing what you love, then why not pursue something even further?"
Personally, this short film has the quality of a full-on movie and should deserve more attention XD
Thanks for creating GODLIKE, it re-inspires people like me..Thank you really..
Wow thats amazing! Will there be a 2nd part? :) like I really enjoyed it and would love to see another one !
Wow, I definitely love this actor, Major Curda. I wish I could find him someday. He is incredible and I can not think of anything else.
why is this not a series. TELL ME. Riot should fun this, it's gold. They will make so much profit of it
The directing, the angles, the lighting, the acting, it all came together perfectly. You did really well to capture Dom in his natural boosted state.
This is fantastic and so touching
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it :)
Godlike I have to thank you for this, I hope you are able to make some bigger projects in the future, maybe with Riots help. Anyway I'm looking forward to what's comes next
Damn, that film was good. The guy playing Alex seems like a good actor
Beautifully shot and can appreciate the narrative/acting. A serious look at gaming is definitely something the film industry should consider; that or more crowd-funding for projects like this. Well made guys! :D
Thanks so much Scott!
This needs about a million more views
Haha thanks so much for watching, spread the word!! :)
No no no no! This was way to good to be a 1 time thing. This has to be a series. There is so much to make out of this, How much money do I need to pay and where. This HAS to be a series!
Make part 2 good shit bro
after watching this i honestly don't see how so many of the comments are just prude jokes and humorous remarks. this video hit me so hard. i've struggled with depression for the past years and i've had family issues as well and my mom and. anyways when i first started playing league it really helped. i would put on my headset and get into a match feeling apart of a different world full of new people and new things. no one to mess with me at school and no mental breakdowns when dealing with family. just the game that made me feel great. it's more than just a game honestly and a lot of people dont look at it like that. they just blow it off. it's an escape, a coping skill, a lifestyle, a hobby, a passion. i always feel great and even when im getting trolled in a ranked game or on a huge losing streak im happy knowing im apart of the league community. and i want to give a huge THANK YOU to you for uploading this and for everyone apart of this. such great great acting. made me tear up at times. thank you for expressing things so well in this video.
wtf this is so good
I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE X) You keep reminding me of CA years ago whenever I see you. hehexd
***** If it involves league, overwatch ca, cs, h1z1, rs, im probably there. I spend a TON of time on youtube and twitch, basically whenever im not at work or uni im playing league or on yt. Just something im super passionate about. Always have loved it.
No friends im guessing
+i7887 nah actually I have plenty but few very close after highschool everyone goes different ways for the most part. Atleast around here.
Much respect. I cried several times. Epic and inspiring. God speed to you Alex. Godspeed. I'm sorry for your loss. She's still with you. You'll see her again.
That was so good.. only wish it were longer
This is like a movie or a documentary from National Geographic! And the Quality! JUST GOD DAMN! PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS I WANT TO SEE YOUR MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS
Make this a feature film!!
Workin on it!! ;)
This deserves alot more views
This is great. Very motivational and inspiring. Acting was natural and I liked the writing. Well done. 10/10 want more.
+MrCastratedPenguin and yet here you are, arguing on youtube. Impressive.
This was so touching the way he did what he loved.
I can not wait to obtain my new computer equipment and try and make my dream to be a TH-camr/Streamer come true.
IS THERE GOING TO BE A PART 2 CUZ THIS WAS LITTTT
Astonishing ♥ absolutely amazing wished it was longer
wait i don't get it, why did he take biscuits instead of assassin?!?!!?
F-
Assassin probably wasn't a thing yet.
If you look when Fenix is picking masteries, assassin is there. (th-cam.com/video/UyToOv6g2ZE/w-d-xo.html)
it was
higher sustain since its a meele vs a range matchup. Sometime assassin is better sometime biscuit is better, its usually preferences tbh.
This was brilliantly made. It was very close to putting me to tears and i'm very satisfied. Please, if you can continue to make more short films of this nature. It was truly a work of art.
Im feeling the Cantonese tho...
MO YOM AHHHH
useless XD
accurate. we get the asian grandma, we have the asian mother, and bam white man with yellow fever -> mixed boy. aylmao
They had to appeal to the masses lol
I mean, iss yellow feaver really that bad? :P
gave me chills entire way through.
glad i can hold this in my memories for a long time to come, thank so much.
WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE OF TILT.
Explains the whole existence of a gamer... It's not a waste of time it is passion
they took that girls cigarette like they took away Graves Cigar....
a wonderfully made combination of two of my favourite things -- film and league of legends. The editing and cinematograhpy was amazing *-* hope this gets more recognition!
The face u make when ur a zed main and zed got nerfed AGAIN 3:57
This has to be made on a large scale, it is way too good. Time and effort put into more series of these could go a very long way
PART TWO PART TWO PART TWO PART TWO
part two or i kms
"she was my daughter your mother was not suppose to die before me" What words a parent/grandparents should never need to say

simply AMAZING!!!! Thank You for Sharing Your Art With us
What a joy to watch! Liked and shared! What did you shoot this on?
Thank you so much! This was shot on Alexa anamorphic :)
Godlike Oh, damn. Nice!
Man the first minutes had me into tears. I dont know if the story is based on your real life but I am just amazed this video is a masterpiece wish you the best
I have always wanted to be a pro at csgo as i am trying to now and living in an area in london where it is pretty dangerous and that my parents dont like me playing i will always follow my dreams and i hope you will too
I wasn't gonna watch all of it, but I'm sure glad I did. This was done famously. Amazing job.
That kid putted Team Liquid where they need to be ON THE TRASH
I feel like (and I know this is just a story) you and your grandmother are kind of right. 8 hours is a long time to sit in one spot, but all that time shouldn't be spent studying. Like study first, go have a social life, then play video games. That's what I try to do. Love the video man! (The comment wasn't so much meant for you because I am sure you don't actually play for that long, but in general for people with the same problem. Love you!
I CRIED
Sequel please? :D this really sends a message to people who think gaming is "a waste of time". Plus I want to see him get into the pro circuit, and show his grandma he can be somebody in the world of esports
Ending was quite blah, plus the credits were all glitched out. But overall was a nice touching story, that I feel many can relate to in one way or another.
a godlike player always says it doesn't matter if your winning all that matters is that your having fun
Pepsi and a bag of chips 4$ op.
This is excellent. Fucking amazing. It's easy to identify and empathize with Alex, and the way the music and shots were done and woven together is astounding. The moments of silence were absolutely perfect.
Maybe rito should play this short film at the opening ceremony of worlds 👀
This is incredible, everyone who worked on it you guys did an incredible job
Credits bugged out lol
This may have kick started my short film binging, excellent work !
This is very inaccurate. See, Chinese parents don't apologize even when they know they are 100% wrong. Too much pride.
This is in Korea.
it's in cantonese...
AKA Chinese.
The family speaks Cantonese. Which means they are probably from Hong Kong, living in the USA, near a Koreatown probably in California somewhere.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼exactly~
This was too good.... Props to the production team/actors
Who is the actor playing as IWD?
The real IWD would say "HOLY SHIT HE'S POPPIN OOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFF"
Loooooove Major Curda and LoL, great short film!
