Weather sealing can be a lifesaver, not just for the lens, but for the camera as well. I had a rogue wave drag my camera (a7riv) and tripod into the pacific ocean for about 7secs or so. The camera went completely underwater and was dragged through the sand as well. After I pulled it out, I used a blower and towel to dry it out and it was good to go. Sony weather sealing did not let me down. Had my lens not had a gasket on the mount itself, it could have been a very expensive mishap. I will never buy a lens without weather sealing because of this. Nice channel!
Hey! Thanx for stopping by. That sounds like a “heart attack” situation. Glad your gear survived. Fortunately, I have never been in such situation. But I agree. It’s better to have the weather seal than not. :)
@@dakzer55 sometimes it’s just ok and sometimes even smaller thing could hurt the gear so much. When it comes to the lens choice (weather seal or not), one should consider where he’ll be shooting and decide based on that (or on budget of course) :)
For less money I would suggest the Tamron 17-28. But it has little zoom range. For client work I would go straight for the GM for extra light and sharpness across the frame..
Hey, thanx a lot :) I appreciate it. I hope you will also like my future videos. Btw, feel free to comment also topics you want me to cover in my videos :)
Hi, Martin, It's grate info video, thanks to you , I like this lens so much , But I have sony A5100 mirrorless's camera , so does this lans gonna work for me or not plz ? cheers,
Hey. Thanx for watching. I’n glad you like the video. Well, the 16-35 F4 is a fullframe lens. I believe that A5100 is na APS-C camera. You can use a speedbooster to adapt this lens, but I would prefer using a native lens.
Personally I find that if I’m struggling with the F4 I’m already in prime territory being needed. The 2.8 only gives one more stop but my 1.4 primes provide 3 more stops.
Btw I am a very beginner photographer trying to learn from TH-cam and planing to buy Sony a7iv (which is not yet released in India ) previously I was planing to buy a7iii new or secondhand but than I saw great reviews about a7iv …what are you thoughts on this camera …I want to do both cinematic videography and photography (interior photography like Airbnb’s etc ) , also which 2 lens you would suggest me initially (ps gm series lens are too expansive and out of my budget )
Hey! Thanx for watching. Yes there is some focus breathing, but it's nothing horrible in my opinion. I haven't tried focus stacking with it however. :)
Haha ... thanx :D I appreciate it. I love to make these "double character" segments, but I don't want to overdo it in each video :). Anyways, I am glad you joined :)
Thank you so much for the detailed review. I have a question on your vlog clip. What was you stabilization setting during that clip? it's a little bit shaky. Was that handhaled?
I'm also new in the TH-cam world mate, liked and subscribed your video! Tomorrow I will actually receive this 16-35 f4 Lens :D and hopefully will be good enough for my TH-cam Videos and my photographic events aswell! :)
@@philippemichelphotography I was nit sure, if that kind of stuff was any good until you and some other people subscribed because of it :). So maybe I will incorporate it from time to time into my videos :).

I can't imagine any of that salt water being good for the a7r iv even if it was dried out

Which one would you prefer for architectural shots, and if they are going to be printed? Sony 16 35 zeiss sigma 16 28 2.8 tamron 17 28

Never tested that one. Maybe I will take a look. Thanx :) I am however using the whole 16-35 zoom range. But I am considering the GM. :)
I would have gone for the GM but I don't have that many clients to justify the 2k+ price :( While I got the f4 for 500-600 used.

You’re wellcome :) I am glad you like it.
Do you guys own the Sony 16-35mm F4 OSS? What is your opinion on it? Would you switch to the 16-35mm F2.8 GM instead?
I probably will. The 2.8 GM is overkill. This should be ok.
Personally I find that if I’m struggling with the F4 I’m already in prime territory being needed. The 2.8 only gives one more stop but my 1.4 primes provide 3 more stops.

Your channel is so great! Entertaining and informative.
Hey! Thanks. I’m really glad you like it. :)
Good episode! I share the same feeling regarding dust as you when it comes to 24-70mm f/4.
Yes, the dust ... But I'm glad that it's not really affecting the overall performance :)
Bro loved your video and the way you double rolled 😀 it’s was great and it’s with great humour…I am your nee subscriber 😀

Thank you for watching. Yes, it was handheld, just with the IBIS. :)
@@MartinNemeth Thanks, in that case, the stablization on Sony is not that pleasant or it keeps some organic shaky😄

I think this lens is really good for videography. The only downside is the F4 for the shallow depth of field. Otherwise it's great and durable lens.
great content. love the intro also. subscribed
