Haven't seen any home like this before in Chinese villages. Really creative in decorating! Beautiful!
This Traditional cooking stove in Zhejiang really brings my memory back to my childhood when my grandma used to cook every meal for the family and she liked that the little boy me to help her to watch the fire and add wood. And you might not believe that. It is really well designed and multi-functional stove to cook. If you later learns how it works, you will be amazed.
As someone who’s family owns a property in rural China, I absolutely love how your home contain so many intricate pieces from various cultures.
As a bloke, I always wonder how people clean their homes from dust with so many intricate decorations without hiring an army of cleaners.... 😅

I love how you made this house your own with your style and reminders of your family. Those dining chairs with the gentlemen goats on them are very unique, I wish I had something like that! I am sure the landlord is happy that you did the tiles as it is classy and adds value to the landlord's property and he/she might reward you with low rent for years. Hope you get the chance to finish that one room and give us a tutorial on that interesting oven in the kitchen which to me is the centerpiece of the kitchen. Thank you for the lovely tour!

I find it really cool that you’re appreciating and giving new life and purpose to all of the old and found objects you’ve come across!
Sometimes it does take a fresh pair of eyes to see old rickety everyday objects as special. The stories they can tell if only they speak :)

It's nice to see your enthusiasm living in the little village in China. I just randomly found your videos and very like it. I did not like the rural life back in the China even I am Chinese. I was always wanting to escape from where I live, my home, in China when I was growing up. Now finally I did it. I was doing a PhD in a western country but I start watching videos about China from a foreigner's perspective. It is like re-knowing my home country agian. And it remind me how strange but wonderful a place I was bored of is actually attracting other to settle down. I wish you had a happy life in China. By the way I was amazed by your Chinese since it's just your fifth year in China, and it is hard to believe how did you manage to refurnish that house as a foreigner. Maybe it relates to your enthusiasm towards language learning as well - I accidentally saw your laptop's system set in Chinese. It is good to have an immersive eviroment. I wish I could master English as you do in Chinese past the last 5 year, but it is hard to be at ease as you when interacting with the locals. Wish you good luck!

What I eat for breakfast lunch and dinner isn’t the same as the locals for the most part 🤣 my cooking habits are still pretty westernized and I don’t cook with pork which is the staple food item here . I will share with you all soon some of the western Chinese fusion dishes I make 🤣

This is a great transformation-Congratulations! The house looks homey and inviting and there is so much space. I am a rug person too. I don't know how much cooking you do but a nice stove would be a good investment. Although I have gas stove right now, I have used electric stove in the past and enjoyed it. I missed my country living for so long. It's been over 40+ years since I left the country side and into NY. You will find the country life on a slower pace and less stressful. Wish I can go back and re-visit my childhood life.

I would be planting many flowering plants in that front yard if I were the one living there. It's great to see the progress in your house and that you were showing the hidden treasures of your landlord on the display. Also, you have a lot of collections that were a remembrance from your family and that makes your house look better and refreshed now.

I had a thought that you might like to hire an experienced cook to supplement your diets haha one extra portion is never mind to these ladies who can send out home cooked dishes in tiffin where you just warmed them up at your leisure.
Omg finally someone recognizes where the little band is from 🤣 the best I could guess is “somewhere in southeast asia” but I didn’t know anything about the background of it. Unfortunately both grandparents on that side of the family have passed so there was no one I could ask. The peppers and corn are just a common thing to hang outside peoples doors in rural areas , it’s kind of an old fashioned thing getting less common but I like the organic decoration vibe

When you find time, please do come to visit QuZhou, Zhejiang, the city hosts Doolitte house. The famed Doolittle Raid was so important to American people during WWII

It might be getting chilly there. In summer time, I would definitely open my window and leave a wind chimes outside. Tingling bells with mild wind. Maybe a scattering cicada buzzing around. Can fall asleep in no time.

I just stumbled across your channel and quickly became a subscriber! What interests me most are is that you wi-fi connection in a remote Chinese village to enable you to work from home. I say that because here in England there’s no signal even in shops in the city, much less on country lanes!

That's not how you are store vegetables. They'll wilt and die in less than 3 days. You need to dip them in water, then shake most of it off, then put them in a plastic bag, and put them in the fridge. They can last almost 3 weeks or more that way. The bamboo mountains look really cool.
Actually those pottery jars are used for preparing pickled cabbage.

At noon, you can have a picnic and watch the scenery in the bamboo forest, or set up a tent and take a nap in the bamboo forest.
