The 2024 Polestar 2 Performance Is A More Likable Swedish Electric Sporty Sedan

- The #Polestar2 was the brand's first mass produced all-electric vehicle when it first came out in 2021. For 2024, the #Polestar brand is making its first round of significant upgrades which involves new electric motors, a new battery pack on RWD versions, more range, better tech, and improved charging speeds. The #Polestar2Performance is the brand's answer to the latest #TeslaModel3 and while it still lags behind in some areas, the latest 2 is a far more appealing sports sedan that should continue to do well in its segment.

Drive polestar 2 for three years. Very satisfied. It looks fantastic, during my three years drive so many people stop by and asked for the car. The quality is great. It didn't use leather but the interior still looks premium. I will trade in my polestar 2 this year and buy polestar 4. Can't wait.
Horrible infotainment system. Maybe for the boomers the "interior" is the most important thihng, but for younger drivers we want reliable and usable software. Not this crap, specially at this price.
@@ev.c6 polestar 2 announced in 2019, so it used old Chip and caused lag in the information system. Starting from polestar 3, they will use high end chip like Qualcomm® Snapdragon 8155。so information system issue will fix. The information system is very easy to fix just by using new chips, however, polestar is good at interior and exterior design, environment friendly and extremely good driving experience. Those advantages are not easy copy by others. Most of cars announced in 2019 didn't have a good information system.
Polestars I've seen give off a classy vibe!!
And the ones i saw driving the hills of Austin were having a blast!!
These must be US figures. In the EU, the 2024 models LRSM, LRDM, and the performance (350 kW) all have an 82 kWh battery. It also battery charges 205 kW DC.
For sure don’t know what’s wrong with the figures? The stats all wrong.
@@andreasl4507nope those are US specs
I live 70 miles away from my Polestar dealer and I had one issue in 3 years. It really wasn't a problem with the car, it was a 2 year maintenance check. They sent a Polestar truck to pick up my car and drop off the loaner. Two days later the same truck bought my car back to my house and took the loaner away. The only reason it took two days is I loved driving the newest model with ventilated leather seats and I wanted to keep it an extra day. The driver even parked my car in my driveway. BTW, the loaner was the exact car in this video, same color and interior. I have no complaints. In three years I have never had to drive to Polestar for any service. How many people can say that they haven't been to a service center in three years?
Wheels are clean.
How do you get 4k front seats that aren’t massaging?!
Welcome to 2024. 😂
Only the suckers are buying cars right now. Everyone else is saving, no point in pandering to anyone but the well off and dumb.
Must be paying for all the care that went to the cows, so they can call it "animal welfare" leather.
@@RobertBoston-n4dmust suck to be broke 🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We've got a 2023 Dual motor and really like it. We actually really like the recycled PET material, it has a nice texture and is very easy to clean. We also got the basic textile seats and prefer that over the weavetech, the textile definitely feels more premium than a basic car cloth seat and the weavetech doesn't breathe well ( we live in Phoenix, it's also why we didn't get the glass roof).
The cupholder situation and piano black plastic suck ass though, no way around it. I also am not fond of the plastic that is in place of the wood on more basic trims, it has a nice texture but feels thin and brittle.
I have a MY23 dual motor with the pilot and plus package in midnight. Honestly I hope US sales really get the justice they deserve for this car. I love my polestar so much and no complaints at all. Would buy over a Tesla any day!
$70k holy smokes

Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers , 20” 4-Multi Spoke Forged Alloy Wheels, Brembo brake with ventilated, drilled discs and four-piston aluminum calipers and 455 hpp engine. Can you find a cheaper car with those figures? The ohlin damper is very expensive
A mustang GT has more performance and adaptive dampers for under$50k @@skshi439
This is nice! I still think I'd choose the refreshed Tesla Model 3 over this one though....
Will u be testing the 2024 BMW X1 M35i ?
I have the 2024 model. Love it. Wish the range was longer tho
3:42 M I D N I G H T!!! That’s a nice intimate shade of blue with hints of gray it fits the car perfectly well 12:27 My BUTT!!!
Not sure we're the 70k number comes from. Fully optioned ones are about 58k, or a $500/mo lease with $3500 down. The RWD base version is $350/mo with $3300 down.
I actually just test drove a single motor Polestar since our XC60 is coming off lease. I also have an Audi Q5 and previously had an A4 in the current generation. This review does a very good job overall but I think misses a couple of things.
First the good:
- Even the single motor is fun to drive and sporty. It may not be as fast as the one tested here but it was plenty fast.
- The ride is definitely firm and on the sporty side. Even more so than my old A4 and way more than the XC60, which is much softer. Like he pointed out, the car does have a heavier feel, especially the steering. Regenerative braking is strong. Overall, I liked the way it drove, but if you are looking for something more plush than sporty, this is not it.
- I like the styling and like the hatch. The glass roof is cool, but I don't know how it feels in the summer.
The less good:
- I'm 6'2" with broad shoulders and large feet. The interior is definitely tight. I could fit reasonably well in the front, but the fromt of the center console does intrude on knee room if you are taller. I also had to be careful getting out because it was easy to hit my head. The back seat is probably ok for kids but I couldn't fit at all. It is really cramped.
- The ergonomics of the center console are a mess. The cupholders are a pain and the location of the shifter and emergency blinker button relative to the infotainment screen was annoying. I accidentally hit both of them trying to reach the screen. Also, I LOVE Audi's adjustable center armrest (you can adjust height and length) and really wish this car had it.
- Like he said, the dash and infotainment are a real improvement over the old Volvo Sensus system on our XC60. The infotainment graphics are also slicker than my Audi's. However, the usability still isn't great. You still have to hunt around for different functions and I only barely scratched the surface on the test drive. I guess you would get used to it, but honestly, Audi's system is much easier to use. Also, the 360 camera really is not as sharp as either Audi's or Volvo's and it's annoying that you can't pair it with the rearview camera like you can with Audi and others. The Audi virtual cockpit dash also more functional than this, but Polestar is an improvement over Volvo.
Overall, I liked the way the car drove and the overall design, but I'm not sure how great it is as a daily driver. They really need to get the packaging and usability to match the driving experience.
like this car and would buy over the TESLA MODEL 3 as it comes from a traditional car company and looks like. a real car not a fish!
Ok boomer
20:24 The single and dual motor models are the same price right now.
Drinking game: take a shot every time Sofyan says "cheap" in a review. Kudos to those who are still able to stand by the end of the review.
I love it, but would not by an EV with less than 350 miles of range.
Amazing job Sofyan.
Excellent review! Wish Polestar were more successful. It check all the boxes except the price. Great numbers and absolutely stunning looking vehicles.
Might as well get a Lucid Air Pure
Lol....lucid is a dog 🐕 compared to this Polestar.
You should correct this video - it is not true that the standard suspension has a softer ride than the performance pack. Simply because you have no idea what the car is currently adjusted to - factory settings cannot be trusted!
Adjusting the Ohlins all the way to soft will produce a softer ride than standard.
Polestar is a luxury brand if it’s too expensive buy a crappy Tesla model 3 which is the Corolla of EV. Everyone has one
It is a high-end brand. Some folks don't seem to get that. Tesla Model 3 is more a mainstream car. Great tech but still has this mainstream feel to it.
Totally agree.....tesla is NOT a classy looking car.....the Polestars have a vibe!
The Polestars I've seen were getting pushed hard....looked fun!!
One guy was talking to me while we were going down the road....the Polestar was driving itself! Totally classy look and feel.
At least the Corolla is reliable, no EV is
@shadowcobra69 I think the 40 million people that drive them would disagree.
@@nickscott447 just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good or reliable those people probably know nothing about cars or why they even bought EVs
$70k is nuts. The tech looks dated, range is terrible and who knows about reliability. Depreciation is another question.
Yeah $70k is out of their mind. Depreciation are all bad on EVs, including the best selling Teslas.
I feel like you have to keep them for life and drive them into the ground to avoid the depreciation issue.
I’d be curious to see some honest, extreme long term EV reviews.
Pretty sure 99% of these cars like these are leased
Haha. Yes it's, sold to people love trend
Had a ‘22 for over 2 years now. Reliability is excellent, build quality is Volvo family rock solid, and tech gets updated in OTA updates. Infotainment is easy to use and not overly distracting. Sure, no changing cabin colors or turn signal farting sound, but that’s fine with me. These cars are mostly leased, not bought, so they are a great value in the second hand market. It drives like a sport sedan and feels like a Saab in many ways. A great drivers car overall.
These started out priced at 50k in China, pretty much 1 year later you can find the performance version around 30k brand new.
Where are you seeing 24s for that price? I’d pick it up asap if that were the case
@@mykeljewellhe said it's in China and yes its super cheap in china cuz no one wants it...

The irony of the framless mirrors yet the screen has a huge bezel.
Way better looking than a Tesla. $70k no, $55k yes.
You don't have to get the top spec performance version. You can get the regular suspension and a few less options and it would be a bit over $55K.
If I had the money, I think the RWD is good enough for me and my family. I like this car
$70k and you have to drive with the armrest lid open if your passenger wants a drink from McDonald's... 🤦🏾♂️
Love the design
Still crazy to me that this doesn't give you backup cam and 360 cam at the same time, and still has only 1 usable cupholder without losing the armrest. I canceled my order of the launch edition of this car years ago when I found out it was missing those 2 features and it's still the same
No ash tray either. How did you miss that?
Yeah the 360 cam in Volvos is terrible due to lacking the depth of a rear camera at the same time. It is a very compromised car due to being based on a gas platform. Also terrible interior space that almost looks claustrophobic.

Great review, would be interesting to see how it compares to the new Model 3. Hope you can get one for review soon!
Maybe in the future I'll get a used one. Price should be a good bit better.
Next one for me !
It will be out of business.

Ain't it their only model on sale?
For now. The 3 is late and the 4 is out but not in North America yet. The 5 is set for next year.
I drove one the other day at an auto show and I was impressed. Wouldn’t get it over a Tesla though. But those yellow seat belts 🤤
Performance option aside, the heat pump and ventilated seats are over $6,000 on top of $48K starting price.
What’s up with the audio quality lately?

Thank you Sofyan another awesome review. I know that you have your fair share of experience with android automotive infotainment system, but it is awful. I have an android, and it does not have android auto. You can connect your account, but it’s not the same as having android auto. The graphics are great, but because there’s no start button or accessory button as soon as you take, one butt cheek off, the driver seat, the entertainment system shuts off and transfers to your phone.
The visibility is terrible. In this car, it’s extremely cramped and you can’t see out of the back very well, the Center tunnel intrudes so much that you’re always hitting your knee on it. I think it’s a beautiful car, the pro pilot assist works really well, the car is very quiet and well composed over bumps, but I would never ever buy one again. I had my 2023 for a year and traded it in.
The Hertz EV sell-off included Polestars and it has absolutely demolished their value. There’s a BUNCH of ‘21-22 P2 AWD Performance Pack models with
Bad news for first owners. Excellent news for second hand buyers.
This car is gorgeous but I need all the seats to be heated and cooled and about 150 more miles of range
Maybe soon, I buy this new 2024 Polestar 2.
Who exactly labeled Tesla "premium" ? 😅
Honda & Toyota have better fit and finish than Tesla.
And build quality and refinement. Tesla is a tech car and that's where it is most premium.
Volvo pulled all funding so........
Geely owns Volvo and Polestar. It was simply shift of financial investment and debt back to Geely to get Polestar's debt off Volvo's books.
The cup holders are unforgivable.
Ev manufacturers are regressing in range numbers. Also they're in desperate need to stop smoking whatever they it is making them think they can ask for that much money for cars like these
Of all the choices available in the marketplace...why the hell would one buy this vehicle. It has bad reviews for reliability, limited range and a dealer network comparable to Lucid.
Nice car except for the interior and to expensive
Today they reduced the prices 😂
Is Polestar made in China?
The Polestar 2. Polestar is an automaker headquartered in Sweden and controlled by Chinese billionaire Li Shufu. It designs the Polestar 2 in Sweden and manufactures it at a factory in Luqiao, China, for export to the United States, Europe and other markets, where the car sells for between $50,000 and $70,000.
🔥🔥🔥
The interior looks awful. Colors look drab. The vent location is odd.
Is that screen a tablet?
Exteriors 3 box shape neever grew on me.
It's a shame this company will likely be no more in a few years due to Volvo pulling out
I’m sure a private equity firm will jump in and finish the bankruptcy.
Both Volvo and Polestar are owned by Chinese company Geely. Which has already said it will take over Volvo's shares. Of all startup car companies at risk of bankruptcy, Polestar is one of the least at risk
That's not the case one bit. See what @USUGO said. Volvo pulling out is financial only. Volvo will still be developing cars with Polestar as well as selling them. Volvo and Polestar also share personnel, test facilities, materials research and a whole lot more.
uh huh huh huh, Pole
It kind of looks like a Dodge Avenger to me 🤣
CPOs are 35-40k, if you’re buying entry level luxury new - you’re doing it wrong.
The sound is muffled
Coming from a dead Performance Model 3, this car was tempting and you see them around here a lot but it's just too boring looking. I hate the complete lack of style and the vents and stuff just look so Camry I'm out
No wonder Polestar is losing so much money and Volvo had to pull out of its stake in Polestar! They price it poorly!

10:00 Ewww!!! The key fob looks like garbage cuz it’s all cheap looking Idk why Volvo did away with having nicer key fobs covered in leather!!!! Get your heads outta your butts and make these fobs nicer again
🤦🏼
The tech looks so terrible
Based on Volvo architecture but parent company is BYD in China.
Parent company is Geely, not BYD. And this car is basically a Volvo transferred to Polestar. Polestar made some changes to the interior but the car is a Volvo Concept 40.2.
The new Tesla Model 3 redesign is a superior car to the Polestar 2 in mostly every way at a fraction of the cost. Better tech, range, interior room, interior quality. You have to be dumb to buy this at $70k when you can get a new Model 3 for $46k or even a used Polestar 2 for $25k
That depends on how you define superior. The Polestar is a very solid car. No Tesla is anywhere near as solid as a Polestar. Polestar is also great at dynamic qualities in terms of handling, braking, balance.
@@benjaminsmith2287 The refresh Model 3 is more solid than the Polestar 2 from my test drive of both. Tesla really made the new Model 3 more solid with better interior materials than the Polestar 2. In terms of handling the old pre-refresh is a superior driver’s car. It sits lower, steering felt better, and regen braking just felt 100% better than the Polestar 2.
@@chrisak49 I don't find that one bit. The Tesla's steering twitchy at higher speeds and requires more careful attention to the more linear Polestar steering. The Tesla is more like a go cart but on balance, Polestar's handling is better sorted. As for solidity, I don't know about the refresh but it is the same platform with some enhancements and I found on the platform/shell level the car needed to be updated and this is a refresh, not a new car. But if you prefer the Tesla, fine. There are attributes that other cars, like Polestar, that I feel are better developed than Tesla.

70k is too much for a China 🇨🇳 sourced Geely. Volvo has just sold all of its holdings in Polestar to Geely according to Reuters.
This is a Volvo, not a Geely. It's an actual Volvo with Polestar tuning and bit of Polestar styling in the interior. And Geely owns Volvo and Polestar and this is just a way for Volvo to free up its financial pockets some. Volvo is still developing cars with Polestar, sharing personnel and facilities and testing and software, building the Polestar 3 in the USA, and servicing Polestars at their dealers. Volvo is committed to Polestar as Polestar is really a part of Volvo.
