I been a MRI tech for 4 years! If you have high anxiety I have a few tips for you! Bring a friend or family member to come in room with you! Ask if they have music for you to listen while getting scanned, cover your eyes with a wash cloth or ask your doctor for a sedative before you schedule the test. Also ask the tech to give you a count down during the scan. Ask them to talk to you every 3 minutes. This really helps.Remember breathe normal. Pretend you are going to sleep or think about a fun time and just focus on that. Avoid caffeine. The tech will always give you a emergency call button if you have to come out. Ask if you can take a look at the machine before the scan. If this fails , look for a open mri in your area.
I had my MRI today . I am claustrophobic and confined space creeps me out. 20mins were horrible... I was cursing the person who invented this machine, i know he did good but . I wish this shouldn't happen to any person
My head is damn aching since 5-6 months, and now my dr. Suggested me to have this, they're saying that I might have a tumor, god bless me.... I'm just 19 and it's really a big thing to deal for me.
MRI scan looks scary while entering into the cabin for few minutes..one must be calm inside the machine .apart from few sounds ranging different level nothing is going to happen...this was my personal exp

I have another spesific query as below: If patient suffer from stroke and below are the reports - A. Below is the CT scan report on the day of stroke. EXAMINATION : C.T.BRAIN. Serial axial contiguous 5 & 10 mm sections were obtained from base of skull to vertex ;as plain study. The cerebral parenchyma shows normal grey & white matter differentiation. A well defined hypodense area is seen in the right paraventricular region. There is no shift of mid-line structures. The ventricular system, basal cisterns, sylvian fissures, and the sulcal C.S.F. spaces do not reveal any abnormality. IMPRESSION : WELL DEFINED HYPODENSE AREA IN THE RIGHT PARAVENTRICULAR REGION IS MOSTLY DUE TO AN INFARCT. B) Below is the report of MRI on 5th day of hospitalization. MRI OF THE BRAIN LIMITED STUDY FOR STROKE REPORT: A LIMITED STUDY [FLAIR AND DIFFUSIONĮ WAS PERFOMED FOR SCREENING OF STROKE. The cerebellar hemispheres and vermis are normal. The brainstem is normal. The basal cisterns are prominent. There is a welldefined altered signal intensity area (hyperintense on Diffusion, Flair and hypointense on T1W images.) in the right insular cortex-basal ganglia- white matter in the posterior parietal periventricular region causing partial effacement of adjacent cerebral sulci.. The third, fourth and both lateral ventricles are normal in size. The thalamic-basal ganglia regions are normal. There is widening of rest of the cerebral sulci. The eye-balls and optic nerves appear normal. IMPRESSION: MR STUDY REVEALS A WELL-DEFINED ACUTE INFARCT INVOLVING THE RIGHT INSULAR CORTEX-BASAL GANGLIA - WHITE MATTER IN THE POSTERIOR PARIETAL/ PERIVENTRICULAR REGION CAUSING PARTIAL EFFACEMENT OF ADJACENT CEREBRAL SULCI. GENERALIZED CEREBRAL ATROPHY-CONSISTENT WITH AGE.
