Had one today.. Worst thing about this is when folks walk past the room talking and you keep thinking they coming to tell you its over, but they just walking pass. This machine will also let you know if you like yourself, cause you have to do alot of self talking to keep yourself calm.
Had one today. I have to say that it’s really exhausting in comparison with a brain mri I had twice. They will tell you to hold your breath a lot of times and it makes it even more exhausting imo. They also gave me a radioactive tracer through my arm vein so I had to keep my arms next to my head for 40 minutes. They had pretty good music on my headphones tho 💯 recommend 😂
Hi @julierosenberg491, yes, you are more than welcome to take any anti-anxiety medication - just can't be sleeping during the scan as some of the sequences will require breath holds - so you need to be alert. Have a wonderful day!
@@FreeBird1276 sorry to hear that, I’m in fl and every time I get one , I’m sedated, I didn’t know I could be until I had a massive panic attack during my first one, and the nurse explained sedation was an option
I'm going tomorrow to do it! My last experience was horrible, I couldn't finish cause I'm claustrophobic! And the holding of breath drives me nuts! The dr said, they have a new big machine, so I won't feel claustrophobic! Well we see.🤷♀️
Hi @bharatlama2729, Mayfair Diagnostics is a medical imaging provider, not a medical clinic so we can not provide medical advice. To investigate any symptoms or concerns, you will need to see a medical doctor who may then request medical imaging. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Have a good day.
I'm not a GP but had similar issues. what finally got something on tests was to get a stole blood test from GP. all my blood tests and everything else was always perfect and the blood in the stole finally get me closer to find out whats wrong. hopefully it will help you
Got one done on the 16 of current month and tomorrow another one focusing on abdomen area! I’m so worry that willing to change my diet if necessary what I mean by that is staying away from alcohol. Good luck to yourself!
Hi @neatjohnson3069, for pelvis we generally do whole body imaging. For part 1 - the patient's pelvis is placed under the detector for a 2 min image, however when they return for part 2 we would start with their head under the detector for 2 1/2 min, and then they would slowly be pulled out to scan the rest of their body over 12 min. We often (not always) would do a SPECT/CT image following that where their pelvis would be in the detector for the first 10 min, but then their whole body is pulled into the back tunnel for about 1-2 min.
Hi @hayahaya1655, Yes - if there are contents in the stomach - it affects the scan in a few ways. Food increases motility, which increases motion artifact on the scan. Food also could potentially obscure any abnormalities. Finally - if we give an injection of IV contrast, and it causes nausea (which is a possible side effect), a full stomach will likely result in vomiting. I hope this helps with your question.
I have Crohns Disease and i had MRI IV CONTRAST and I Drink 3 17 OZ CONTRAST DRINKS 1 Hour before MRI IV CONTRAST. Do you do Alot of Drink CONTRAST with IV CONTRAST with people with Crohns Disease????
Hi @johnschirloff836, This would be an Enterography exam and is the only exam that the patient would both drink and have IV contrast. This is a common exam to perform if Crohn's is in the patient history. Each patients requestion is protocoled by a tech or a radiologist and is radiologist dependant on whether it be CT or MR. This is determined depending on the patient history.
An mri doesn't cause surgical steel to move, that's a lie. You can keep your piercings in. My brother and adopted sister both kept their piercings in with no problems.
Respect, can endometriosis lesions and nodules be seen on magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen and pelvis, without intravenous contrast? I am prone to allergies, the contrast is nephrotoxic, and I have endometriosis on my kidney, which hurts terribly during ovulation. I also have ovulation and menstruation rectally and vaginally. The examination was performed without contrast. Someone says that a real specialist can see the changes, others say that contrast is necessary, I'm interested in your professional opinion? Thanks in advance . Greetings.. 🫶
Hi @baccon_321, Gadolinium is NOT strictly necessary for the detection/diagnosis of endometrial deposits in the superficial or deep regions of the pelvis, or elsewhere in the abdomen or pelvis, and can therefore be seen and reported on a non-contrast MRI scan. The typical MRI sequences we would need to detect/diagnosis endometrial deposits are a T1 weighted sequence performed with fat saturation and a T2 weighted sequence without fat saturation. Gadolinium does have utility in detecting a known/prior endometrial deposit that is or has undergone malignant degeneration (i.e.: has become cancerous), although this is a rare occurrence and would not necessitate routine administration of gadolinium unless there is clinical suspicion (from a specialist gynecologist), as well detection of ovarian malignancy. I hope this helps a bit. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you for including scanner noise, it will make it less startling for patients :)
Feet first I'm good to go. Head first will be a problem 😂😂
😂😂
Yesss😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm screaming cause baby i had one in the dark im claustrophobic woooo weee they had to give me medicine
I had one head first and it was okay. They talk to you the whole time if needed and can remove you when you request.
I just did it and it was ok just hard to stand still I had a itch on my leg had to do it again 😂
How much time it takes?@@elchapojr6219
You know what would make an mri a nicer experience? If when finished they had a nice coffee or tea ready for you.

Yes they’ll sedate you if asked ahead of time
I have had MS for 30 years. In all my times I’ve done MRIs, when I asked for anxiety meds, they said no. But each dr is different, I guess.

Since you’re going in the MRI room can you please video the cold head pretty please with a cherry on top?
Do they have to put you all the way in ? If it’s just a pelvic exam

No contrast? I thought they had to?
Hi, 90% of the time - yes. Contrast is best to see the organs - so depending on what the doctors are looking for - contrast helps.
@@MayfairDiagnosticsOfficialwhat if you don't want contrast. I don't trust it
If a patient has severe COPD, how long will they be asked to hold their breath ????
Hi @city-bisquits, the longest breath holds in MRI are typically around 25 seconds. However, most are around 15-20 seconds.

Naked? That sounds ghastly!
You mean ur vagina was all out and not even covered?

Can someone explain WHY the hell those machines are so loud!!!!!?
To create a magnetic field around your body maybe future ones wioo be quieter
