Late to the show here, but I have been digging DEEP to look for tutorials for BEGINNERS, and this (and your combat one) are the best I've seen. All the other one's I've seen either go too fast, don't bother explaining things, leave too many holes, and don't understand that a beginner doesn't just necessarily want to know the base rules. I want to know about the stack, I don' t care that I'm new. Anyway, thanks for this content - hope to see more. :)
@@UncommonRamen my most recent question is about counters and how players use dice(or whatever else) to keep track of their power and toughness. I haven’t seen it yet but do you have anything on that?
@@sardinecan123 Hey there, are you talking about token creatures? Or are you referring to people using dice as a way to keep track of the number of +1/+1 counters a creature or permanent has?
@@sardinecan123 oh yeah I see what you mean, there are a lot of ways people do it, dice and glass beads, I personally use special 6 sided dice that actually say +1/+1, +2/+2 and so on. You get more used to it the longer you play
Thanks for thise series. This is SO HELPFUL as a life long YuGiOh player playing Magic now lol. I have a question on Deathtouch, does the blocking creature deal any damage to the creature with deathtouch or does deathtouch occur first negating any battle damage given?
I'm a bit too experenienced in Magic for this video but I wanted to say that it's very good for new players and if someone asks me about Magic I will send them your way :D
With vigilance I did want to ask, if the monster is attacking but isn’t tapped, does it deal power or toughness to calculate damage. I would assume toughness since it’s in the “vertical” position as opposed to the tapped position when you usually declare an attack.
Question on Lifelink... is it only damage to a player that creates life add for you? Or anytime like in combat blocking or being blocked? Does it matter if the creature you're fighting dies or not?
@UncommonRamen So if my 1/1 creature with lifelink, fights your 2/2 basic creature... meaning mine dies and yours does not, I still gain 1 life point due to Lifelink?
As a new player I agree that it’s a bad move to not explain those core abilities moving forward with reprinting cards. It will be annoying to those who have been playing to constantly explaining to new players and might discourage playin with those new players as well

Thank you for the kind words! I do have some plans in the future for more tutorial videos!
Thank you for putting out these beginner guides! I’ve been referring back to your videos when I need guidance
Not a problem, glad I could help!

@@UncommonRamen +1/+1 counters, it’s just the idea of keeping up with it seems to be overwhelming but ig it would just take time and practice

This was so easy to understand, thank you!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I am new to MTG and your videos are very helpful

Unless the death touch creature has first strike, the death touch creature will take damage as well.
@@UncommonRamen Awesome THANK YOU!
Don't forget annihilator! Great video!
Haha, Annihilator was specific to rise of the eldrazi but was nasty none the less! Thanks for watching.

Creature will always deal damage with thier power unless a card declares otherwise, so even with vigilance it still deals damage with powrr

Any damage, even if it dies.
Any type of damage too, not just combat.

@@bpjenkins yes, that is correct
@@UncommonRamen Really appreciate the answers and your videos. Used to play in the 90s and rebuying some vintage stuff to play with my son.
Thanks so much!!!

What about if a card says about blocking a phase?
Can you give me more details? Not too sure what the exact question is.
@Uncommon Ramen I noticed a that says about blocking a phase
I am searching for the card that says it
1 card is March of swirling mist
Also on the card titans strength it says Scry 1...what does that mean?

Hopefully there will people like me to get out there and explain these keywords if they keep not printing reminder text.
