People that say the police academy isn't long enough don't know anything about police work. After you get out of the academy you get assigned an FTO then they train you for a year before you get released to work by yourself plus all the training that you do throughout your career for every little thing is insane. That's at least a year and a half of training but blueman bad is all people think about and nothing beyond that, not saying that is your mindset just generalizing people.
Thank you for making this video, I myself am in the process of becoming a CHP officer and this video really helped me understand what the academy really is inside. Thank you for making this video.
20 years ago I took my first written test of entry for CHP cadet. Unfortunately, failed due to unestablished proof of Citizenship. But no regrets. I've been in Special Forse in Afghanistan for Soviet Army. I've become a Supernational Go kart champ. And tested Indy cars and raced many different car classes. Still love CHP. IF I WOULD BE YOUNG AGAIN, I WILL definitely JOIN CHP
It provided me the basis of understanding police work, people, and psychopaths that served me for 43 years in my later law enforcement pursuits. I stayed five years with the CHP before going federal (ONI, NIS, NCIS) from which I retired. This training facility is outstanding. I attended training at the old Meadowbrook facility.
My biggest issue, when I was younger, was my lack of intelligence, inside the classroom. I was just never a good student & lacked what it took, in those areas, I felt like I could meet the challenges of the PT & road course. I obviously applied, but it didn't work out for me, so if only I was better with my reading comprehension & 15yrs younger, I would re-apply. Oh well, I love the CHP & still follow what they're doing every week. I really enjoyed this video & it gave me a huge perspective on what these cadets have to go through, to reach their goal, to become a California Highway Patrol Officer, so thank you for sharing this, sir.
VERY well done! I was impressed, I always wanted to be a CHP officer but my disabilites have kept me from it and I must say it is interesting to see what the CHP Academy is like! Very well done! A huge like from me!
I already knew before watching this that it would be a hard/awesome academy....all the police haters who think cops are stupid and knuckle draggers should be made to watch this.....
this was an excellent behind the scenes of what 26 weeks will do to make you an excellent officer. A great Organization of top notch law enforcement officers of the California Highway Patrol. be safe and be careful.
Awesome! Video! I am extremely proud and feel dignified to call the California Highway Patrol my home states Premier Law Enforcement Agency! I was never a CHP Officer however i do have a small background in Law Enforcement that started in 1989 as a City P.D. Cadet Explorer for my hometown P.D. in San Luis Obispo County CA from 1989-1993. After becoming an explorer i went to the Law Enforcement academy (Reserve) Training in Santa Maria CA (1996) to eventually ride along with the Santa Maria CA Police Department 1998-2008 while keeping a full time regular job as a Security Officer and still doing the Private Sector Security stuff today in 2019. The one major thing the CHP Taught me is the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course "aka" EVOC in 1996 and learned a few things going on a couple of Ride Alongs with actual CHP Officers in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo area. God Bless our California Highway Patrol in my opinion the best State Law Enforcement agency in The U.S.!
I worked at a state law enforcement agency, and one of the officers assigned to the agency was a CHP officer. Hell of a nice guy, fun to work with, and found out from him interesting things about the CHP I didn't know, like how they have a high risk entry team he had been a member of, and went through training for it conducted at the USMC's Camp Pendleton. He's now a sergeant in the Golden Gate office.
I almost became a CHP over 10 years ago. They happened to call me for backgrounds while I was a month in my Sheriff's academy. I still enjoy waving at them on the streets when we pass one another and especially when they take over our accident scenes. Serve and protect most importantly go home safe to your love ones after every shift.
Ik a lot of people are putting me off moving from the UK to the US but there literally nothing like the CHP in the UK plus I'd love to work my way through and onto the motor units
I honestly wanna become a CHP officer so much, but I honestly don't think I'll be able to. I can't even do push-ups right, and it basically just looks so hard, and they're doing so many hard things, that I don't think I'll ever be able to do. I also live in another country. And my biggest dream is to be a CHP officer, and it looks so hard, but I want to so badly. I just can't, since I'd have to leave my whole family and everything.. Oh well, thank you law enforcement officers for protecting us and inspiring us everyday.
Why does it have to be CHP? If you are from another country join your local police force. If you are struggling with pushups start being smart about WHY. Are you overweight? Eat less and low calorie meals with protein. Start with doing planks and just holding it until your arms hurt. Do that everyday until you can finally pushup. Start small and work up then you can easily do them. Plenty of female officers so you can do it.
corey4347 I wanted to be one since I was in 3rd grade and I’m 17 now almost 18 can’t wait until I’m actually 21 and try to join them I prey to god I get the job

I thought about applying for the CHP when I was young. Problem was you have to live in California... I can't take California for more than a few days...
Look at the military discipline in that school. Then you wonder why California has issues with how their law enforcement officers treat subjects? That paramilitary attitude doesn't work when you are dealing with potential criminals or responding to complaints.
Thats a good point, though the police have become militarized and will be the gun confiscators they have to be trained hardcore for that, they still require an ethics course to make sure theyre human though, but training is training, however i still agree the founders would not only oppose the current standing army, but oppose cops enforcing unjust gun and drug laws that they never wanted.
I'm not going to say my agency was a lot harder but based off what I'm saying it looks like it. By the end of our academy we were running upwards of 10 miles. Our formation runs would go for a couple of hours. Barre training instructor was a sadistic Sergeant who would run is by IHOP in the morning that was parked outside the academy grounds. Our academy was a living academy for approximately eight months
Lots of people say it's only 6 months and that's not long enough, but watching this video shows how badass the academy truly is
People that say the police academy isn't long enough don't know anything about police work. It’s definitely plenty of time considering marine corps bootcamp is only 3.5 months
6 months is twice as long as boot camp in the military so its very long. You are also trained by the best people there so its high quality.

I considered it myself.

I love... our secondary mission. God bless the C H P
15:35 why is Stewart standing so god-damn close to the officer? Give the man some breathing room lol
Because the officer wasn't wearing a microphone I think, so we could hear the officer through Stewart's microphone.
I have applied, and taking the exam in a few months. Starting to intensely run and work out. The journey begins !
Update bro!
You need to be doing a minimum of 500 sit-ups and 500 push-ups to start
They sure balloon up fast after the academy🤣
Frank "Ponch" Poncharello and Jon Baker are my favorite CHiPs officers.. call signs 7 Mary 3 and 7 Mary 4
