Hardcore dancers move to the music, needing a knowledge of music, while push moshers just move aimlessly without structure.

listen to this, and then listen to The Black Dahlia Murder - Moonlight Equilibrium, that is a fair difference between deathcore and Death Metal in my opinion...You'll find that Death Metal is actually more melodic, while relying on a more deminished sound along with your high speed drums and blast beats, which is usually tastefully presented, where as deathcore focuses more on their rythmic part as most would call it a "chug-fest", with more breakdown orientated music, and a more layered vocal preference
I find The Black Dahlia Murder to be a very 'safe' choice if proper modern death metal is your preference, especially the albums: Nocturnal, Deflorate, Ritual ... ah and if you want something fairly interessting and brutal, go for the band Fleshgod Apocalypse...anyway I digress, hope you find some clarity here :)
