I can't say for certain they wil but they might. I've been told by a pretty good source Menards bought all the Williams dies and tooling and Williams did have some steam engines in the product line.
@@OldLow1361 If they kept it basic as they did in the past, that is conventional control with whistle and bell, or whistle only a $300 or slightly lower retail price should be do-able. It's the sophisticated electronics they're putting into so many O Gauge engines that drive those high prices.
Thanks Menards is changing the game on "value" sets and O gauge locomotives in general. You can really start O gauge on a budget if you purchase used everything on feebay, mercari, etsy type sites with K-line and even Rugged rails MTH RailKing.
Thanks Mike watched your video on yor passenger train set I found a old marx 666 steam locomotive and redid the body it was cracked real bad about a half in wide cracked in the shell I repaired the Crack and repainted it navy blue on the bottom light blue on top changed the number to 13 in remmerory of the british blue goose steam locomotive used in either ww1 or ww2 not sure which world War I even painted the wheels red in hopes of making this locomotive look pretty much like the real British blue goose locomotive
Now this was a really great report. It just hit me, what I like about Menard's. Besides their commitment to affordable prices, as their two starter sets demonstrate, they acknowledge that not all O gauge railroaders want Pennsylvania Flyers or New York Centrals. Menard's knows there is life west of the Mississippi lol. Also happy to see Lionel keeping their Super Chief and Texas Special available. Now that they've been mass producing the technology for a while, I wish they'd bump all their Lionchief offerings up to Lionchief Plus. Shouldn't demand a price increase at this point and would increase the play value of the locomotives without having to break the bank on Legacy. Again great video. Looking forward to increased holiday offerings.
Great video. Wow, that's a lot of Lionel starter sets! Some really neat stuff. Regarding Menards, I am hoping they come out with streamlined coaches to go with their F locomotives. I always think F units look better pulling streamlined passenger cars rather than freight. And on the non-starter set Lionel offerings....wow, I am sure I cannot afford it, but love the Christmas livery Hiawatha. : )
Recently got the new Prairie Freight set and I gotta say, it is FANTASTIC! Looks just like the original post postwar engine, the only complaint I have is the whistle, wish they did a Pennsy 3 chime instead of a big boy whistle.
You can find some VERY good deals by looking on-line at what the major distributors like Charles Ro and Gryzyboski's have in inventory what's usually referred to as "New Old Stock" or "NOS." What that means is older mechandise on hand that's still new in the box but for one reason or another never sold. Starter sets advertised as "Sets With Tubular Track" typically are priced very reasonably.
Have the lyon chief santafie pasenger train starter set I love the audio on it I think they took the conductor voice from poller express because it sounds a lot like Tom hanks
The Looney Tunes train also has the familiar Roadrunner “beep beep” sound as the horn and the bell sounds like an anvil falling on something. I love it.
I hope Menards makes a classic starter set style steam locomotive sometime

@@wayneantoniazzi2706 wow that sounds good, if Menards made a steam locomotive, even if it was 300 dollars I would buy it
That would be epic!

BRASSEUR TRAINS of Saginaw MI sadly closed shop earlier this year in favor of retirement. Thanks for the service and memories.

Love this. It addresses so much that I talk about and ask when someone tells me they are looking for advice in getting into model railroading.
Thanks!

Can any of these starter sets be run on a transformer. If you already have an RR setup can these, be run on it?
Yes! Simply set the transformer voltage at a constant 15-18v and use the remote to operate the locomotive.
