Your advice in a prior video about asking “do you have concerns about my ability to do this job” was KILLER. I am convinced it is what brought me to the step of my third interview. It truly shows you are open to constructive feedback if you’re willing to advocate for yourself before even working for a place. Subscribed!

I strongly dislike Panel Interviews because their will always be 1 or 2 persons that will not like you, regardless of the reason or reasons!
The hypocracy of Panel Interviewers is beyond BS, so I usually decline Panels of 3 or more! I love showing off my skills and talents, and I don't want the Panel Members hating on me! I will avoid working with people that are intimidated by my skills and talent! This is a big RED flag for me!!

Ben, this seems like the best video of yours, for me to ask a "panel interview" question. Here's the story: I am applying INTERNALLY, for a medical records coding job. I'm going to make up names (all female), so it won't give away identities. Three weeks ago, suddenly Jenny wanted to interview me on a Friday March 3, 2023, but we couldn't work it out. She said that she would be out on jury duty for a week, and actually, she was out TWO weeks. Friday March 17, 2023, she reached back out to me, and said she will schedule an interview. KEY NOTE: Had I been interviewed 3/3/2023, it likely would have been just Jenny (all on zoom). Now, we have an interview scheduled for Wednesday March 29, 2023 at 1:30pm. AND, invited to the zoom, along with Jenny, will be Teresa, Sandy, Elizabeth, Nupur, and Jane. Here's the thing: This "coding team" has several specialties. I'm willing to work in any "team," if they offer overtime, once I get proficient. I would also prefer an area that can "ease in a new coder." (I have earned the AAPC certification, and passed the CPC exam) Here is my question: There are both pros and cons, to "had I been interviewed by Jenny, solo," and "being interviewed by Jenny AND Teresa, Sandy, Elizabeth, Nupur, and Jane." Those other women are supervisors of different coding specialty teams. On one hand, "just with Jenny" would have been more informal, in a good way. With MORE on the panel, there are "more who I could say the wrong thing to." On the other hand, maybe, just maybe, whichever supervisors DO think I'm a good fit for the team, will be the ones who hopefully offer me a coding job. It is said that they are in real need for coders, but I do know, that being an internal candidate, does not guarantee or entitle me to a coding job. So, pros and cons, and any other ideas, you and everybody else, please weigh in. Nothing is too minor to point out.

I think the pros outweigh the cons. Have a great interview and you will likely have much more opportunity. Good luck!

@@BenTalksTalent Thanks Ben! I'm sure that it's different in a Zoom panel interview of nowadays. But, with literally 5 or 6 people interviewing me (Jenny will clearly be "leading" the interview), how can I avoid "ignoring certain members of the panel?"

Bottom line? You just CANNOT please everybody in the panel no matter how well you try to do everything in your interview.. Do your best and hope at least you get enough votes from the panel to land the job
