I guess he even thinks we're worse than the Loyal three. The loyal three just stole the masks and then "protected" the village. Everyone knew they stole the masks. But we? We befriend him. We are nice to him. Just to live the life of his dream behind his back, stabbing him in the back, when we even catch Ogerpon in front of him.
I can understand why Kieran's grandpa would want to keep this away from him. With how much he loves that ogre, he'd theoretically be much harder to stop from blabbing than Carmine and the doesn't want to see his grandson potentially get hurt for what he believes in. At the same time though, imagine you believing in your heart something that actually turns out to be true, only to be denied being directly told because you "weren't ready". That must sting.
It certainly would’ve been better if they started with that instead of, because Carmine told you so…. It was initially the game telling you to be stupid.
With how much he loves it, he'd probably go a bit too far after learning the truth or how we saw Ogerpon. And when the player and Carmine lie to him, it's nighttime and Ogerpon had gone towards the mountain, and I don't think it would've ended well if they told the truth. That's kind of what Carmine says in the scene iirc. It's kind of tiring to see people talking about how they should have told him and how that'd _definitely_ end well!
Yeah i think I understand his grandfather to, I feel Kieran has some obsession issue, and a parasocial relationship with Ogerpon I mean he said he never met the ogre until the adventure, and thinks he deserves it just because he really likes it. Even if he did catch it I feel he would obsess over it.

I feel so sorry for Kieran. Fan theories about a possession or not, Kieran's emotions are justified. They had one dream, one goal, something they've been trying to do for years, and we really come in and take it from him. He could not even be the main character in his own story.

You don't mess with a guy who goes from two or three relatively simple to a full, fully evolved team in the span of three days. You can feel the blend of determination and insecurity in his voice, he sounds like he's both trying to let out and subdue the anger he's feeling. Very fine job.
Well he is right to be mad in us for lying to him, but what he's wrong about is the why we did. The why he thinks we lied is his paranoia and obsession with Ogerpon getting the better of him.
I like how this song seems to focus on both his justifiable distress and his irrational paranoia, possessiveness, and even a slight inferiority/ victim complex. He's right to feel hurt, but he's lashing out irrationally at people that haven't intentionally hurt him and behaving in a genuinely selfish and even cruel way towards Ogerpon, as if he really cared about her entirely selflessly, he'd want her to be happy regardless of what she chose. Kieran and Carmine are both good people that have flaws and make bad choices, to each of their detriment, and i love how far Pokemon's character writing has come.

@AustinSPTD1996 Honestly, I feel like the character writing and story in S/V is INCREDIBLE, especially by pokemon game standards! If Sword and Shield's clunkiness is what it took to get here, it was absolutely worth it.
He truly was a victim to himself. We just happened to have the protagonist luck of getting Ogerpon to like us, and we only lied to keep him safe and not let his basically obsession take him like the Professors. It is justified he's angry that we lied, but he let his obsession and paranoia get the better of his mind and tear him apart from the inside out.
Kieran has so much potential as an antagonist. The personal connection he has with you and his inner turmoil is great. If he comes back in the 2nd DLC and is genuinely a really tough fight and a worthy opponent, he may be the best rival in Pokemon history in my eyes.
I honestly think this works well for Kieran. He's willing to fight but knowing the outcome, he's at least trying his best to come out on top. I don't know much about the pokemon, but like the music, this cover is sick!
This all relates to the Kitakami tales of the Ogre and the Loyal Three. Spoilers inbound if you haven't played/seen until now: Long ago, a man and a Pokemon, called Ogerpon, visited Kitakami. The people shunned and feared the duo for their faces so the duo hid in the nearby mountain. Everyone, save a lone mask maker, Kieran's ancestor. He took pity on the pair and crafted four beautiful masks fitted with gems from a far off land (presumably Paldea). With these masks, they were able to attend the festival in the village each year, and drew a lot of attention because of the masks. Unfortunately, they would draw the wrong sort... One day, while Ogerpon was away from the den, three sinister looking Pokemon ambushed the man, their goal being the masks. They managed to make off with all of them save one, leaving the man mortally wounded. Ogerpon would return hours later to find her home ransacked, the man nowhere to be seen, and the Teal Mask all that remains. Putting two and two together she dons the mask, rushes to the village, and thrashes the thieves until they died. She would return to live in the mountains all alone, but the villagers saw it as Ogerpon rampaging and the three Pokemon protecting them. They would become known as the Loyal Three and had a shrine in honor to them. The mask maker tried to set the story straight, but the villagers saw that as heresy so he kept quiet so as not to be ran out of the village, passing the story to descendants. Kieran hasn't known the true story till recently, but always felt there was more to it and the ogre than that and was fascinated by it. Of course, both his sister and grandfather tell us to stay quiet, but he silently overheard his grandpa tell the tale and ofc feels betrayed.
If you read all that, in my opinion, I'd have told Kieran everything if the game gave me that choice! Partly cause he deserves to know and not be kept in the dark and lied to, and partly cause his sister Carmine is a massive b!tch! To us, around the start of the game, and especially towards her younger brother throughout!
“Kiki shut up, go find somewhere else to be and” “Kiki you are such a baby don’t you give me that lip!” Those lines are kierian reflecting on everything that he had happen to him since we got here, and hell even before, yeah he might heal PHYSICALLY but not mentally as those scars from those words are still gonna echo in his mind

As a Kieran fan and a lover of your work, this is absolutely amazing to watch, Juno! The pain that Kieran is feeling is reflected perfectly in the voice acting and in the lyrics themselves. I’m really excited to see how you tackle the Loyal Three and Carmine~
Through the whole teal mask story, i wanted to tell kieran the truth, this just rubs salt into the wound. If the famr didnt force me to lie to him i would of told him in a heartbeat. Great song, the guilt is overwhelming!
I was straight up ready to fistfight carmine This is the ONLY reason the Paldea Friends weren't in Teal Mask. Nemona would sweep Carmine with her champion team and teach her a lesson Arven would calm Kieran down and relate to him, he knows the feeling of having something important hidden from him. He's the best one to talk to Kieran. Penny would just hack Carmine's rotom phone and bank accounts and refuse to give them back until Carmine apologizes to Kieran and tells him the truth. Bonus points if she calls up team star for the extra fear factor because they have VER LARGE VEHICLES. gamefreak are cowards let us have our feral friends in kitakami

@@kellythekitty5190 Unpopular opinion, but Kieran ended up being in the wrong. Carmine was already feeling guilty after lying to her brother for one (1) day. While he was right to be upset prior to the Loyal Three fight, by the time we get to the final fight with him he’s just overreacting.

It’s because of the crystal in the mask as it was from the crystal pool, and if you look at a line of carmine (I think) she says people can sometimes see dead people through the crystals explaining the proffeser incident with terapagos too
The player wanted to tell him from the beginning, but was basically sworn to secrecy by Carmine and his grandfather. That we were essentially forced to lie to him. That's one of the most upsetting things about that whole situation.
I heard a few people say that many of the protagonist are liar but that's not true. We want to be honest from the beginning. We were forced into secrecy by Carmine and our grandfather, and it feels like we're being roped into a sick family tradition of keeping secrets. I just went along with it based on the narrative that they know him better than I do. In reality, I might have done the same thing, especially since I'm from another country and don't feel like I have the right to stir up family drama in a foreign region.
I think Kieran was bullied at school. He probably moved to Unova which makes him a prime target for bullying. And since he grew up in a town that treats him nicely, the sudden change probably hurt him a lot. My theory reminds me of Team Star. Kieran was bullied but he didn't have anything like Team Star to go to, he only had Ogerpon's story to relate to and to cope on. I do feel bad for him ngl. Especially if he is just an insecure kid and not a brainwashed one like other theories say.
He truly develops throughout the DLC, at least his Pokémon. The last battle with him was tough. Well maybe because I altered my team with new Pokémon here.
I used entirely new Pokemon and didn't keep up with the level cap as well as I thought I did. The last few battles had me on the back foot the entire time. Not finding out where the Syrupy Apple was and having an Applin the entire time didn't help either lol

I like how the song has a mixture of anger and pain towards the player and Carmine. There’s also a tone of selfishness with Kieran thinking he deserves to have Ogerpon’s friendship. I still feel sorry for Kieran, but also think he’s wrong for thinking he’s owed Ogerpon’s companionship.
It wasn’t right that we lied to him even if it was to protect him from being impulsive and getting himself scolded and ridiculed, but he also formed a parasocial relationship with a Pokémon that did not respect its wishes. Clearly everyone’s got room to grow up a lil bit.
@AstaXNoelleyou could also argue that he never got the chance to prove himself since carmine and the player kept it from him, but I’d also argue that successfully revealing the truth to the town was more worthy than retrieving three masks. Overall, it’s a complicated situation that didn’t need to be but became one.
Honestly, most people are talking about how plot armor is the reason why Ogrepon came with us, but while thats true-we are the protangonist, after all-we DID also fight Monkidori while the Loyal Three where attacking her, giving her a reason to become as attached to us as she did. If Kieran or Carmine had fought Mukidori instead, I believe Ogrepon wouldve went with them instead, however, Kieran didnt cause he was-probably-too shy, and Carmine just...didnt.
I felt bad the whole way through the DlC. Kieran deserved to know the truth imo but Game Freak didnt let me tell him. :( My heart is breaking just remembering it

Kieran and carmine where surprisingly good and subverted my expectations throughout the story i thought carmine would be the bad guy while kieran was the good guy so seeing this outcome was not expected i cant wait for part 2 and the music that im pretty sure qill be amazing
i get why people may find him annoying but i say he's a well developed character and i can't wait for him to crush me in blueberry academy. Its like some random person from a different country gets close to you to where it feels like you're buddies then they go on to date your crush within days of simply being there. (of course im not saying Kieran wanted to date ogerpon its just an analogy (i hope im using that term right)

I feel bad for Kieran. I had a team of EV'd Level 100s, and spent most of the DLC beating the shit out of hikm and Carmine's teams with a non EV'd H-Zoroark I brought out to get more money from them. He was giving it all he had, and I was winning handily while STILL holding back.
Kieran is so relatable and is my favorite. His story made cry cuz I felt so bad and know how he felt I love him so much you really did the best with this and even after being done with the dlc it made go back in time almost he has wrongfully held in the dark by the people he trusted and he isn’t just upset because it’s the ogre but because people who he came to fully trust (which as a shy introvert is a hard thing to do) and when it came to the ultimate test of friendship/sistership and so on he was ultimately betrayed and this song captures every inch of pain Spoiler warning for indigo disk below Edit: I would love love love to see one with him in the indigo disk for his champion battle and when he joins u to battle terapagos!!!😋😋😋 Oohhhh wait also a song from the trainers eyes about not wanting to lie to him yet being forced to do so would be so good!

Dude keiran might be the most invested ive ever been in any single pokemon character. Its really interesting how our protagonist makes a major plot based decision that is not 100% correct and that keiran has to suffer for it. Ive wanted a rival that starts of friendly but turns evil because of jelousy for a long time and although he’s not wuite what i had in mind its cool to see none the less

I felt like I see Kieran as a new friend, and with what he’s gone through in his adventure with us, I fear the worst for what will become of him. I fear he may see us as a serious rival and wants to get stronger to try and defeat us next time, even if he could possibly take drastic measures for that to happen.
So I just finished Hidden Treasures and it really just makes me feel harder for the poor guy. It hurts even more since I used to be the quiet, “weak” kid myself who had few friends and trust issues. Game Freak may have done him dirty by not letting me tell him the truth and/or punch Carmine in the face, but this cover absolutely does him the justice he deserves!

Battle! Carmine needs to also serve as a leadup to Champion Kieran. Or even after.
Kieran has so much potential as an antagonist. The personal connection he has with you and his inner turmoil is great. If he comes back in the 2nd DLC and is genuinely a really tough fight and a worthy opponent, he may be the best rival in Pokemon history in my eyes.
He’s more akin to a Villian like Tai Lung from KFP rather than Joker.
I think Paulo from Masters EX was better led towards being somewhat antagonistic than Kieran. Carmine is to blame for most of this

I honestly think this works well for Kieran. He's willing to fight but knowing the outcome, he's at least trying his best to come out on top. I don't know much about the pokemon, but like the music, this cover is sick!
This all relates to the Kitakami tales of the Ogre and the Loyal Three. Spoilers inbound if you haven't played/seen until now:
Long ago, a man and a Pokemon, called Ogerpon, visited Kitakami. The people shunned and feared the duo for their faces so the duo hid in the nearby mountain. Everyone, save a lone mask maker, Kieran's ancestor. He took pity on the pair and crafted four beautiful masks fitted with gems from a far off land (presumably Paldea). With these masks, they were able to attend the festival in the village each year, and drew a lot of attention because of the masks. Unfortunately, they would draw the wrong sort...
One day, while Ogerpon was away from the den, three sinister looking Pokemon ambushed the man, their goal being the masks. They managed to make off with all of them save one, leaving the man mortally wounded. Ogerpon would return hours later to find her home ransacked, the man nowhere to be seen, and the Teal Mask all that remains. Putting two and two together she dons the mask, rushes to the village, and thrashes the thieves until they died. She would return to live in the mountains all alone, but the villagers saw it as Ogerpon rampaging and the three Pokemon protecting them. They would become known as the Loyal Three and had a shrine in honor to them.
The mask maker tried to set the story straight, but the villagers saw that as heresy so he kept quiet so as not to be ran out of the village, passing the story to descendants. Kieran hasn't known the true story till recently, but always felt there was more to it and the ogre than that and was fascinated by it. Of course, both his sister and grandfather tell us to stay quiet, but he silently overheard his grandpa tell the tale and ofc feels betrayed.
If you read all that, in my opinion, I'd have told Kieran everything if the game gave me that choice! Partly cause he deserves to know and not be kept in the dark and lied to, and partly cause his sister Carmine is a massive b!tch! To us, around the start of the game, and especially towards her younger brother throughout!
“Kiki shut up, go find somewhere else to be and” “Kiki you are such a baby don’t you give me that lip!” Those lines are kierian reflecting on everything that he had happen to him since we got here, and hell even before, yeah he might heal PHYSICALLY but not mentally as those scars from those words are still gonna echo in his mind

@@kellythekitty5190 Unpopular opinion, but Kieran ended up being in the wrong. Carmine was already feeling guilty after lying to her brother for one (1) day. While he was right to be upset prior to the Loyal Three fight, by the time we get to the final fight with him he’s just overreacting.

The player wanted to tell him from the beginning, but was basically sworn to secrecy by Carmine and his grandfather. That we were essentially forced to lie to him. That's one of the most upsetting things about that whole situation.
I wish there was another DLC where we could tell him what actually happened
I heard a few people say that many of the protagonist are liar but that's not true. We want to be honest from the beginning. We were forced into secrecy by Carmine and our grandfather, and it feels like we're being roped into a sick family tradition of keeping secrets.
I just went along with it based on the narrative that they know him better than I do. In reality, I might have done the same thing, especially since I'm from another country and don't feel like I have the right to stir up family drama in a foreign region.
I felt so bad the entire game bc i had to lie to kieran and this is bringing back those feelings

I think Kieran was bullied at school. He probably moved to Unova which makes him a prime target for bullying. And since he grew up in a town that treats him nicely, the sudden change probably hurt him a lot. My theory reminds me of Team Star. Kieran was bullied but he didn't have anything like Team Star to go to, he only had Ogerpon's story to relate to and to cope on. I do feel bad for him ngl. Especially if he is just an insecure kid and not a brainwashed one like other theories say.

I like how the song has a mixture of anger and pain towards the player and Carmine. There’s also a tone of selfishness with Kieran thinking he deserves to have Ogerpon’s friendship. I still feel sorry for Kieran, but also think he’s wrong for thinking he’s owed Ogerpon’s companionship.
It wasn’t right that we lied to him even if it was to protect him from being impulsive and getting himself scolded and ridiculed, but he also formed a parasocial relationship with a Pokémon that did not respect its wishes. Clearly everyone’s got room to grow up a lil bit.
And now Kieran is plotting against the main character while he's listening *Pumped Up Kricketunes*

Honestly, most people are talking about how plot armor is the reason why Ogrepon came with us, but while thats true-we are the protangonist, after all-we DID also fight Monkidori while the Loyal Three where attacking her, giving her a reason to become as attached to us as she did. If Kieran or Carmine had fought Mukidori instead, I believe Ogrepon wouldve went with them instead, however, Kieran didnt cause he was-probably-too shy, and Carmine just...didnt.
I felt bad the whole way through the DlC. Kieran deserved to know the truth imo but Game Freak didnt let me tell him. :(

i get why people may find him annoying but i say he's a well developed character and i can't wait for him to crush me in blueberry academy. Its sad that you are forced to lie to him when he just wanted to know what you were talking about especially considering it was his dream to befriend Ogerpon, yet since he never truly interacted with ogerpon on the night you meet her she's a tad too shy to accept the mask from him or his friendship. Its like some random person from a different country gets close to you to where it feels like you're buddies then they go on to date your crush within days of simply being there. (of course im not saying Kieran wanted to date ogerpon its just an analogy (i hope im using that term right)

I feel bad for Kieran. I had a team of EV'd Level 100s, and spent most of the DLC beating the shit out of hikm and Carmine's teams with a non EV'd H-Zoroark I brought out to get more money from them. He was giving it all he had, and I was winning handily while STILL holding back.

Kieran is so relatable and is my favorite. His story made cry cuz I felt so bad and know how he felt I love him so much you really did the best with this and even after being done with the dlc it made go back in time almost he has wrongfully held in the dark by the people he trusted and he isn’t just upset because it’s the ogre but because people who he came to fully trust (which as a shy introvert is a hard thing to do) and when it came to the ultimate test of friendship/sistership and so on he was ultimately betrayed and this song captures every inch of pain

Dude keiran might be the most invested ive ever been in any single pokemon character. Its really interesting how our protagonist makes a major plot based decision that is not 100% correct and that keiran has to suffer for it. Ive wanted a rival that starts of friendly but turns evil because of jelousy for a long time and although he’s not wuite what i had in mind its cool to see none the less

I felt like I see Kieran as a new friend, and with what he’s gone through in his adventure with us, I fear the worst for what will become of him. I fear he may see us as a serious rival and wants to get stronger to try and defeat us next time, even if he could possibly take drastic measures for that to happen.

So I just finished Hidden Treasures and it really just makes me feel harder for the poor guy. It hurts even more since I used to be the quiet, “weak” kid myself who had few friends and trust issues.
