Interesting fact about this ship. It was named after a former queen of the Netherlands. Check it out here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatrix_of_the_Netherlands
@user-kn3cy1oz9x what a fantastic queen! I’m really fascinated by history in Netherlands. This is really cool to know and I’ve done some more research. Fantastic, please subscribe and come back my friend.
Exciting stuff! Love the up close and personal views of these amazing ships. Thanks for your kudos to the Coast Guard. My brother served four years in the CG in South Portland, Maine in Aids to Navigation, keeping buoy markers on station and cleaning them.
It was amazing how fast the Coast Guard got out there and the Duluth fire about marine 19. I was really impressed. It was kind of nerve-racking for a few moments. I didn’t want to get in anybody’s way. However, there was a part of me that wanted to help if I could, but I didn’t want to be that person that gets in the middle of things.
Thank God for the Coast Guard! We have a Station here where I live on the East Coast, in New Jersey, on the Atlantic Ocean. They have recently built a new facility. I really enjoy the reports when you go out to investigate the ships in the boat as we get a full view from you. I’m glad that all seemed well after the ‘water emergency’. Keep your eye on that storm, Mike, be Safe. Thanks, again .
A big thanks and prayers for those who put it on the line every day to ensure the safety of those in need. Thanks for the ride Mike, take care and God Bless!!!❤😊
Mike, Thanks for the Boat Ride... That was Really Fun and Great Views being on the Water!! Cool Ship out there. Thank You to our Coast Guard Men and Women!! And First Responder folks! 🛥️🛳️👏🏻💪🏻🙏🏻♥️
Very interesting- the ship itself, and what you encountered while on your way to view it! I am glad that the emergency was canceled and that all ended well in that situation. We land dwellers often forget that crises of health can happen on the water, too- where help is not quite as handy. I am glad for the marine first responders who rushed into action. That ship was indeed very beautiful and interesting to see, and your boat is wonderful in allowing us such close views. I was also interested to hear how much the depths in the lake and channel can vary! Boaters definitely need to be aware of that. Thanks for sharing this.
It was cool to catch some of that action on the radio and to see those emergency vessels. It really surprises me how much that depth can fluctuate. I’ve seen areas where I can go from 5 feet to 40 feet really quick.
Well done Mike. Love the reporting from the boat. Had a 24ft pontoon with 150 Yamaha for several years in the 1000 Islands. Loved chasing the freighters going through the St Lawrence. See you in the Soo
I hope this saying never gets old but you are appreciated. A really fun video with the snowbirds and of course that awesome ship. Thank you for making it fun and interesting
It really means a lot that you would leave a heartfelt comment like this. I thank you so much. And I want you to know that I appreciate you as well. Knowing there’s a good person out there that will take extra time to spread positivity.
Beautiful ship with a dramatic background! I’m a stormperson, i like when things ”moving”! Interesting video with the emergency, they are fast and real heroes! Thank’s for this one Mike😃👍
I have to tell you, my heart was racing for a little while. I’m just glad that nobody was hurt or injured. It was amazing. How much was going on and how exciting it got for a moment.
Great video, Mike!! You gotta love the Coast Guard and ALL first responders!! Great footage up close to the Wagenborg! Your boat gives us all a whole different perspective of these ships! Thanks again for all you do!!
All of a sudden, I’m on my boat, minding my business looking forward to recording a ship and then I hear that come over the radio. It really had my adrenaline going. My heart was pumping too. I didn’t know what was going to happen Doug.
@@vibewithmikeGlad everything was okay, and I'm sure your heart skipped a couple beats! The people on the bridge too must have been surprised. Wow! All is well, and the different profiles of the ship was really nice!! Great video!!
@LoriLeaPouttu think about it, I’m watching the weather above me making sure everything is safe. I approach the bridge and then I start hearing that over the radio. I didn’t know what to do, but the first thing I did if you noticed in the canal, I went to the far right by the wall in case that fire boat had to go out I wanted to give them a lot of space.
Mike, how fitting watching this video now. I just returned from Grand Haven, Michigan. Attended the 100th Coast Guard Festival. Got to tour 5 vessels including the Duluth based Spar. The United States Coast Guard's motto is Semper Paratus, a Latin phrase that means "Always Ready". This was certainly the case in this video. When an emergency arises, the men and woman of the Coast Guard jump to action.
Just discovered your videos Mike. I wish I was in the boat with you. I love ships. Grew up in Wyandotte on the Detroit River and watching the ships go by was part of my everyday life. Still here and still watching them go by. I'm going to start writing the names of the ships you show us and see if I can spot them when they go by my town.
I’m really happy that you found this channel Laura. As you can tell, I have a lot of fun with these big ships. A big coincidence, as I compose this message. I’m in the Minneapolis St. Paul international airport waiting to board my plane for Detroit. I have a business meeting. However, I’m gonna go right over there by the General Motors headquarters and watch the ships go by on the Detroit river. I really hope you subscribe and come back. Hey, I hope you didn’t miss this video that was released on Friday. They combines a huge ship from the Netherlands and Jets doing tricks over Lake Superior! th-cam.com/video/a1XVKPBfV_s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=muWTf5bcSFtdRifF
I remember my Grandpa always monitoring the emergency boat frequencies when we were out on the water. He would stay on the boat while we all went ashore listening for distress calls and respond as necessary getting the nickname snoopy. Thus his boats were named the "Snoopy/Snoopy 2" The last boat was named "LoBoB" after my Grandma Lois and Him Bob. Good Man
I really like the name of those boats! I always keep my radio on to make sure I know what’s going on with the ships or if somebody might need help. Hey, did you see the video from yesterday? th-cam.com/video/DS44B3Ououc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LDF2b1jTAIVXPkrd
Great video Mike, Nice shot up close to a good looking vessel. Big Shout Out to the Coast Guard. (not sure if they'll see this) Thank you for being there, and having a standard that should help keep most vessels in a safe working condition.
From one Mike to another, thanks for the boat ride! I don't comment often but Love the videos! Hoping to get up there with my boat one of these weekends. Keep up the great work work! Cheers!
Hi Mike another Excellent Video ! Ship on the horizon ! No problem ! We will take the boat friends boat and whip out there and check her out ! Beautiful ship ! Instead of paint they are starting to use vinyl wraps on boats ! Properly applied it is a solid air tite barrier Coast guard on call 24 /7 Another day at the office Having the radio let's us lisrn in on the action ! Have a great day
I really am glad that I took the radio out because I would’ve never heard that. It’s always smart to have that marine radio when you’re out on a boat anyway. However, it’s always fun catching new things with these ships.
My friend from thunder Bay! I had the pleasure of seeing your wonderful Air Force performing in Duluth yesterday. They performed a free airshow. The snowbirds. I do have that on video and I’m gonna combine it with a ship video. You will see it soon. What an impressive group of pilots.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Really enjoyed the video Mike, it's really gives a whole different perspective to see these large boats up close like this , thanks for the work you put in to making these videos for us.
It’s my absolute pleasure, my friend! I hope you’re having a great Monday. I’m down in the Twin Cities right now. It’s pretty nice weather in Minneapolis.
Gus, there you are a friend! I hope you’re doing great. I saw the Canadian Air Force perform a free airshow over Lake superior yesterday yesterday. I’m going to add that to a video soon soon. I think you will like it.
It was interesting to see how everything played out. It really is cool to see how the Coast Guard responds. I’ll take a video with a water emergency false alarm over someone really having trouble.
You never know what’s going to happen when you were out on the water. A perfect example is this, yesterday Duluth had an airshow from the Canadian Air Force over the lake. Those planes were fun to watch, but I could see on the Doppler. There was some bad weather coming. Unfortunately, only was able to watch half of the show because I had to get out of there because of the weather. I was about 100 yards from my dock and straight line wind out of nowhere, luckily I got back home but people were stuck out on that lake.
I’m from Canada Saskatchewan to be exact. And about the middle of Saskatchewan. So I am born and raised a prairie girl with a side of parkland timber. I farmed as a career and raised many a truckload of wheat barley oats and canola. I m wondering if it might work to follow the lakers into their loading docks so we could see what that looks like. Or a tour of the inner harbour past the lift bridge. Thank you for your video talents and commentary. 🌻
Hey Mike, and all the Global Boat Friends Nation, from a warm (90+) Bismarck with high humidity as well… Looks like another potentially stormy night again as had rain and small hail last nite. Looks like fall weather in Dtown, with the overcast and cooler temps there….. Interesting video today with the depth checking and faux emergency and all, but leading up to a close up drive by of a super nice Salty in great condition. I can actually feel the cool winds off the big Lake as it is known as the “Air Conditioned City”…… This Salty taking grain down, so estimate she will handle 600,000 to 650,000 bushels to meet the level of the locks and top off to full capacity in Montreal. Beautiful ship, wishing her fair winds and smooth sailing & safe travels. Nice job as always Mike…. Later man……
Chuck, I hope you realize that every single comment you make could be a page in the Boat friends book. I think that might be cool to go back and grab all of your comments and make them into pages related to each of these ships. I love the comments that you do. They’re so fun. They’re so entertaining and always something interesting. You really have the gift of writing and creating a story.
The “rope ladder” is called “Jacobs Ladder.” Fairly scary to leap up off the deck of the Pilot boat, grab the ropes, get your foot on the wet wooden rung and HANG ON for dear life! Some pretty old Pilots do this all around the world, especially Harbors, Bays, Rivers and Docks. I, for one, salute them one and all!👍👍👍 Sam, Towson, md 88*/60 % humidity 😖
Sam, thank you for giving us some tips and information. I never even knew what it was called. Jacob’s ladder. I’m sure many other people just learned that as well. It’s wonderful people like you that. Take an extra couple minutes to teach and educate about this wonderful industry and these ships.
@@vibewithmike actually “Jacobs Ladder” has its origins in religious beliefs: the bridge between “Heaven and Earth.” The TECHNICAL term for the NAUTICAL ladder is “Pilots Ladder” the construction and dimensions of which are REGULATED by LAW. But in reality, most seamen refer to it as “Jacobs Ladder.”
Hey, there’s nothing like having a Friday on a Thursday Brother! Thanks for working hard! Good people deserve good things. I hope these videos keep making you happy. I do have something very cool coming. I recorded those jet fighters in Duluth yesterday from the Canadian Air Force. They were putting on a show in Duluth. I’m going to combine that with a ship video. You will have jet fighters and ships. That’s not too bad.
Thanks brother and I can't wait to see them jet fighters that will be cool 😎 one day I will make the trip there to see all this in person and maybe catch a fish on the boat friends boat
Great video Mike, as always. My father was a coxswain on the 44300 44' MLb in the Coast Guard. He spent 22 years in and the last decade teaching at the only motor lifeboat school in the country here at USCG Station Cape Disappointment. My brothers and I spent a lot of time in and around the station (this was in the 80's) while dad worked. Good times.
Great video! I'm surprised the USCG didn't run up on ya getting that close to the ship! It's cool that you can! Down around Norfolk, VA if you get too close to a ship, you're gonna be asked to back off.
I typically approach from the bow so the crew that is observing can see me. Luckily, I know most of the Coast Guard members Duluth and they know that I film ships. I respect the Coast Guard a lot. I seriously thank you for watching a video. It means a lot, my friend.
Jeff, there’s nothing funner than being right next to these big ships. Especially when they are anchored. They look like Giants. I love looking at that big anchor chain.
@@vibewithmike Heck yes i was raised on boats so boating has always been close to my heart. Your videos are awesome. The ships you have gotten close to are beautiful

So what was the actual water problem, I would assume engine cooling. I spent a 18 months living in Sarnia while working on the construction of a rail road tunnel under the St Clair River. It was great sitting out on my balcony sipping an evening beer or three after work watching the Lakers sail by. Spent two winters there so watching ice fishermen not so interesting. But seeing the first Laker come through, tree lashed to the mast and Capt wearing a topper. One friend had a sail boat so we'd be out on Lake Huron having a steak BBQ. When I returned to UK I bought a live aboard boat that came with a Thames mooring, as apartments are so expensive near London, I was working on a new rail system at Heathrow Airport that involve a circle underground running tunnels and terminal stations. The boat I was built in 1930 as a 30ft family cruiser fitted with twin Penter engines, larch on oak beams. She was part of the Dunkirk Evacuation in 1940, spent three days help take soldiers off the beach to larger craft off shore. Returned to UK holed at the water line loaded with 85 souls and the navy crew working hard to keep her afloat. The rest of WWII she was on magnet mine patrol of the Thames estuary. I owner her for 15 years and traveled the East coast of England, crossed to France several times for Dunkirk Returns the one in 2000 we were inspected by The Duke of Edenborough in Dover and Prince Charles in Dunkirk. The last three summers I owned Lazy Days were spent sailing France, Belgium and Holland. Having a classic boat got me invited to moor free, attend local boating events. I still keep up with my boating friends when visiting the UK as I'm now retired in Vietnam where we don't shovel snow. Thanks for posting and reminding me of my lake trips.
They said water emergency, so I missed the very start of the radio transmission. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible journey! It's amazing to hear about your 18 months in Sarnia and the unique experiences you had. Watching Lakers sail by from your balcony, especially after a hard day's work, sounds like a perfect way to unwind. I can imagine the thrill of seeing the first Laker of the season, with a tree lashed to the mast and the captain in a topper. That must have been quite a sight! Your friend’s sailboat adventures on Lake Huron with steak BBQs sound like such a blast. And what a transition, moving back to the UK and living aboard a historic boat! The story of your 1930 family cruiser, with its rich history including the Dunkirk Evacuation, is truly fascinating. The image of it being part of such a significant moment in history, helping to save so many lives, gives me chills. The fact that it continued to serve during WWII on magnet mine patrol is just remarkable. Owning her for 15 years and traveling along the East Coast of England and across to France for Dunkirk Returns must have given you countless unforgettable memories. Being inspected by the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles must have been a proud moment. Your summers sailing through France, Belgium, and Holland, attending boating events, and enjoying the camaraderie with fellow classic boat owners sound like the stuff of dreams. It’s wonderful that you still keep in touch with your boating friends despite retiring in Vietnam. I can understand why you appreciate the no-snow-shoveling lifestyle there! Thank you again for taking the time to share your story. It's stories like yours that make our community so special. I’m thrilled that my post reminded you of your lake trips. Here’s to many more memories and stories to come!
I’m really really glad that you pointed this out. For those that are unfamiliar with LWL. The Load Waterline (LWL) marks on a ship are essential for ensuring safe and efficient operation. These marks indicate the maximum level to which a ship can be safely loaded. When a ship is loaded beyond its LWL mark, it risks being overloaded, which can affect its stability and maneuverability. The marks are usually painted on the ship’s hull and are easy to spot. They serve as a quick reference for the crew to make sure the vessel is not carrying too much weight, especially when loading cargo or passengers. Keeping the ship within these limits helps prevent accidents and ensures that it can navigate safely through various water conditions. Also, don’t forget to watch this video with a ship and planes! th-cam.com/video/a1XVKPBfV_s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PYHjR4isKJLxV_GO
As a child I watched the Coast Guard rescue boat sortie from Sand Island Station, Honolulu Harbor, Hawai'i. Those Coast Guard crewmen moved superfast in response to an emergency. We were on another boat tour and told by the Skipper there was an offshore boat race happening. 🏁
I know you like these ship videos. Especially ones with fun situations and this was wild. I’m glad there was no issues with people being hurt with this water emergency. It really showed what these emergency responders are all about.
Great video, Mike! I loved that ship. I thought it looked a little different than most of them. And I felt like I was in the boat with you! I love the clouds and the calm water. Just as beautiful as a sunny day. It's pretty hot and humid here in the cities today. Expecting the same tomorrow. Wish I was up there with you in Duluth!
I really love showing you these oceangoing ships Kelly. The reason, they all have a different look. Each company builds them different. This one has a very sleek look. I found out that this ship was actually named after a queen of the Netherlands. 🇳🇱 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatrix_of_the_Netherlands
You are so awesome. Thank you so much for the donation. It means a lot. I have to tell you though, I was not expecting that emergency situation. Can you just imagine me slowly driving over to the bridge to watch another ship. Pretty routine. And then all of a sudden it got super wild. I’m glad there were no issues. However, I’m glad I was able to share with you how it went down. Thanks again for supporting this and being a super boat friend.
Hello Capt!! I know it has been a long time since I have been on here and I am sorry about that . I have had some health issues. Still working them out. What a great looking salty!! I like the saying that you can't shovel hot!! It is very true. it is good to know that the Coast Guard is there if there is any emergency on the water. I like the cloudy days for a change up in the videos. I like the colors on her . The red really makes her stand out. I agree about the scuffing marks from the locks. I was wondering where they were. Thanks so much so showing this great vessel. Hopefully she will be in to load soon. Hope you are having a good day. Catch you later. 🚢🙋

@Jack3379B no updates on that old-school beautiful ship. There has been a lot of speculation that it failed an inspection, but that has not been confirmed. So I don’t want to start any rumors until we really know what’s going on.

i remember a great lakes captain stating unlike the ocean going captains we are not scared to slide the boats down the sides of the locks. i wonder if that is cause we are in fresh water and the ocean going ones are in salt water most of their life

Hi Mike, you are already starting to get to know our royal family quite well this way. You already knew the "Maxima" (Our current queen). But before she became queen there was "Beatrix", the mother of our king "Willem-Alexander". Where ships are not good for learning something from the country of origin?! Gratings from Alkmaar, René
@yeahletsunpackthat I love that! I think I should start saying that! Can you imagine! “ now take a look at that superstructure, look at that crane, and also by the way, take a look at this stealth warrior with a bulbus front!” I like how that flows🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@yeahletsunpackthat I still can’t believe I was right there in the canal when emergency was happening. The lift bridge operator was yelling at people on the loudspeaker. He was yelling at them to get off the bridge for the emergency.
I hope everything is going great in India today, my friend. I told you, at some point I have to get to that beautiful country. I’ve had so many friends that went there and had great experiences. I want to see it for myself. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thankyou for showing the ship closely. Very nice ship. What happened to the ship? Engine failure or any other trouble? Where is Duluth? Is it in the USA or Canada? Watching from India
The water emergency had to do with the person that was reported in the water, but it turned out to be a false alarm. I’m glad nobody was injured. It’s in the United States. Thank you for taking time to watch the video and remind us of your beautiful country, India.
Love your vibe, Mike. I'm a big CG fan also....but don't you think they would have a vessel that can go under the lift bridge without having to wait for it to clear, then lift?
I went out to do a ship video and the last thing I thought was going to happen. It is a water emergency, and I was able to capture it on video and record the audio.

@@vibewithmike Inland water sailor but a lake lubber with odd fixation on Edwin and Edgar. I check their locations on marinetraffic. I try to catch them at the Soo, Two Harbors and Duluth. Oh, and we watch the Mississippi Headwaters.
@user-qo5hh9bw4w love this comment! That’s the thing about TH-cam, I get sucked down a rabbit hole all the time. I start out watching something about. Let’s say a mountain. All of a sudden one hour later, I’m watching the Fitzgerald storm documentary. I love watching trains on TH-cam as well. I have never been to the at Sault Ste. Marie. I really want to get there. That’s one bucket list place I would love to see those ships. Think how cool it would be to see the PRT going through.
What is the bridge clearance in the down position when you pass underneath in your boat? From the camera angle, looks like if you stood up, you could hit your head. Always wondered about that, but you always talk about water depth. Thought that channel would be much deeper, like 40 to 50 feet. At 33 feet seems some of these ships would be scraping bottom in places.
The biggest way if I have personally seen has been about 10 feet I’m guessing. Take a look at this video to give you a little more perspective of the action of the water. th-cam.com/video/qXRXlkxES5k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kgoebde0684j5hvL

All of a sudden, I’m on my boat, minding my business looking forward to recording a ship and then I hear that come over the radio. It really had my adrenaline going. My heart was pumping too. I didn’t know what was going to happen Doug.
@@vibewithmike I can only imagine! I would’ve been a little freaked out too!
@Douglas_79 it’s good to know we have first responders that step up
Mike, how fitting watching this video now.
They are quick to help always
Great video Mike! When you asked about doing videos about this, you hit a home run.
Nice job!
I went out to do a ship video for you after people wanted it. And look what happened. Tons of excitement.
(not sure if they'll see this)
Thank you for being there, and having a standard that should help keep most vessels in a safe working condition.
I’ve talked to the Duluth Coast Guard. They watched these videos. They are heroes out there.
Thanks Mike!!
It’s my absolute pleasure and it was really impressive to see the Coast Guard and the first responders and action. They are true heroes.
Gosh, that was intense!! I hope everything is all right
I’m just glad there were no issues. It really got my heart pumping for a little while while.
Great vid here, Mike, like always. Always cool seeing a Laker or a Salty up close like that.
It was interesting to show you what happens over the radio as emergencies develop. It really had me pumping with adrenaline.
From one Mike to another, thanks for the boat ride! I don't comment often but Love the videos! Hoping to get up there with my boat one of these weekends. Keep up the great work work! Cheers!

Another day at the office
Having the radio let's us lisrn in on the action !

I really am glad that I took the radio out because I would’ve never heard that. It’s always smart to have that marine radio when you’re out on a boat anyway. However, it’s always fun catching new things with these ships.
These boat videos are so amazing! Mainly because for me I get to see these boats up-close in these videos! Greetings from Thunder Bay 👋🇨🇦
Duane, and just think I went out to have fun recording a ship and all of that wild stuff happened on the water man
Totally enjoyed this video Mike!😃. Thank you!!

Thanks for the tour mike, awesome !!!
It’s my absolute pleasure, my friend! I hope you’re having a great Monday. I’m down in the Twin Cities right now. It’s pretty nice weather in Minneapolis.
Thank you, Mike, another interesting video. 😊
Gus, there you are a friend! I hope you’re doing great. I saw the Canadian Air Force perform a free airshow over Lake superior yesterday yesterday. I’m going to add that to a video soon soon. I think you will like it.
Thanks for the boat ride. Beautiful ship and no emergency. Successful voyage all around.
It was interesting to see how everything played out. It really is cool to see how the Coast Guard responds. I’ll take a video with a water emergency false alarm over someone really having trouble.
Thank you, Mike, always interesting, I'm glad I'm not the only one asking questions, you do take everything seriously. Beautiful vessel💗
I have a fun time out there documenting these ships, my friend. You never know what’s going to happen.

I don't remember ever seeing that stop before. Of course, I was never as dedicated as you!
My friend from Canada! I absolutely will provide a tour of the harbor and those docks past the bridge🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hey boat friend thanks another great video didn't catch it live was at work so thanks Mike
No worries at all, Mike. I hope you have a pleasant and wonderful Thursday.
I, for one, salute them one and all!👍👍👍
Sam, Towson, md 88*/60 % humidity 😖
Thanks boat friend it's my Friday I work 4 ten hr nights love these videos when get home from work have a good day Mike
It was wild out there with the water emergency
Good times.
Big respect and big appreciation to all of those that have served in the Coast Guard
Great video Mike! Emergencies on the Great Lakes is never fun, glad the outcome was good. It's so cool to see these ships up close and personal❤
I was not expecting to hear that over the radio. I’m glad nothing happened. I will take a false alarm any day.
That’s a good looking ship there!
They really build beautiful ships, our friends and Netherlands. Very clean lines and sleek looking. I agree with you, Randy.
Thanks for sharing.

What a good looking ship
You are right, it’s sleek and it has very clean lines
Great video! I'm surprised the USCG didn't run up on ya getting that close to the ship! It's cool that you can! Down around Norfolk, VA if you get too close to a ship, you're gonna be asked to back off.
I typically approach from the bow so the crew that is observing can see me. Luckily, I know most of the Coast Guard members Duluth and they know that I film ships. I respect the Coast Guard a lot. I seriously thank you for watching a video. It means a lot, my friend.
Thank you so much, Mike!
It was amazing how fast the Coast Guard got out to help
Great up and close video!

I didn’t know that was the queen of the Netherlands until someone from the Netherlands just told us today. You learn something new every day. That’s a cool thing to learn.🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱
Finally a ship with a full set of LWL marks. Lakers don't have them as they only operate in freshwater. It's the little things.

Yeah, I always try to pull that depth finder into the equation so we can see some new information and data about the water in those areas
Good stuff. Could you make a video as you ride up and down on the lift bridge?
Unfortunately, people are not allowed on the bridge when it goes up and down. Many years ago you could go on that bridge, but there were some incidents that prevent it now.

I'm really enjoying your videos! I'm fascinated by the cargo ships. Do the big lake carriers usually have one or two screws?
Good question, many of these big ships have two
Hey Mike it is 84 here in Portage, Michigan at 4:08 pm.
It’s gonna be around 84° today as well. Let’s keep those snow shovels in the garage as long as possible.
Love your vibe, Mike. I'm a big CG fan also....but don't you think they would have a vessel that can go under the lift bridge without having to wait for it to clear, then lift?
A few of these vessels need to have the bridge lift because they’re too tall. That marine 19 fireboat needs a lift from the bridge.
Coming from chicago!
Anytime I think about Chicago I think about deep dish, pizza, and Al’s Beef shops

Jhi mike calling for storms in Missouri
Stay safe, Carl, I hope there’s no tornadoes
Hi Mike
Claudia great hearing from you, my friend. I hope your Tuesday is going great.
Longtime laker watcher and contributor whenever we can to replace and add cameras.
Hey, great hearing from your brother. There’s nothing like these old-school Lakers out on the lakes. I love the Anderson. That’s my favorite old-school Laker? Which ones are you digging?
@@vibewithmike Inland water sailor but a lake lubber with odd fixation on Edwin and Edgar. I check their locations on marinetraffic. I try to catch them at the Soo, Two Harbors and Duluth. My wife gave me the look one day when I told her the names of the 1,000 footers. Her late brother in hospice turned her on to watching the trains at Burlington, Ia, and the locks at Keokuk.
Mike do you do any fishing ?
Always good to get my Vibe on.
E
I wonder if I should do one fishing video out on the boat, Eddie, what do you think?
@@vibewithmike Bring It!
@eddie_wolf_ 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent question. The clearance of the Duluth lift bridge when it’s all the way down from the water to the bottom of the bridge is 15 feet.
@@vibewithmike Thanks. Enjoy the videos and the ship info.
@corgidog6756 👍⛴️🙏
If the depth is 33 feet under the lift bridge and the draft of this ship is 34 feet does that mean that it can't travers the canal fully loaded?
That’s exactly right. They have to load it enough where it gives them enough draft to get through the canal.
@@vibewithmike Got it! Thank you.

What's the biggest waves you've seen out there ?
The biggest way if I have personally seen has been about 10 feet I’m guessing. Take a look at this video to give you a little more perspective of the action of the water. th-cam.com/video/qXRXlkxES5k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kgoebde0684j5hvL
