I’m not caught up with the series, so I don’t feel I can accurately rank it. I’m not caught up because it’s so close to ending that I want to catch up once it’s done so I can read all the way to the end. 100% agree with what you said about Berserk, there's so much more to it than its reputation suggests and I found myself appreciating the exploration of the characters psyches and the surrounding themes more than the action and world-building itself, as stellar as those are in their own right.
Been watching One piece since 2014 and started reading the manga instead this year. Oda is insanely talented with how he is able to keep people invested in the story for so many years.
What are your thoughts on the series since reading the manga? I watched OP February - April last year and I'm currently reading the manga and I'm finding the pacing much better. It's elevated a lot of arcs I didn't enjoy as much in the anime.

If you havent already, go read Kingdom. Its like the berserk golden age but more in depth with the battles and political elements. It feels a little Berserky, and a little Onepiecey and its amazing. It doesnt have an english release yet but mark my words, when it does it will skyrocket in popularity.
One Piece is my top 1 with Berserk right behind it and I just started Kingdom (currently on volume 7), but of my god I love it so far and I can tell exactly what you mean. I loved golden age as it is my favorite arc and one piece obviously for many reasons, but kingdom definitely has aspects of both and it’s own creativeness. It’s been a blast so far and I feel like I haven’t even seen anything crazy yet.
I just started reading One Piece. Resisted it when I came back to comics/manga in my 30s, and didn't see what the fuss was about. Just thought it was a kids Manga basically (I never read Shonen Manga (or Superhero comics for that matter) growing up, mainly read Vertigo and DH Manga in the 90s). Jumped on with Whole Cake Island. Loved it. Now reading it from the start in the 3-in-1s. Blown away by how creative it is.

One Piece is... special. I remember that when I was 11(2003), I saw the first 10 episodes of the anime and...I was mesmerized by the characters, the tone and the feeling of excitement. I then lost track of it (mainly because of copyright issues in my country and the absence of internet as we know it today) till I was 20 (2012) and an undergraduate student at university, when a friend recommended it to me. I remembered it immediately and binge watched the series up to the end of Paramount War Arc (which was the current arc at the time). I continued to watch it until 2015 and afterwards I read some manga chapters but the last five years... I thought I was bored of it. The most recent arcs were huge in length, too elaborate for me to follow in my limited free time and, quite frankly I thought that Oda just didn't have it in him anymore. However, reading chapter 1000... I almost teared up. The feelings just overwhelmed me and sent me to a trip down the memory lane and I built... a newfound appreciation about the series as a whole. The adventures, the feelings, the characters achieved to keep me invested after 17 years of growing up, going to university, getting my MSc, enlisting on Army for a year and then opening my own office. That's why One Piece is special and that's why I decided to buy all the 3-1 editions to support Oda's work and, eventually, show to younger ones why it's so godamn badass.
HunterxHunter is one of those things that can't quite be summarized with the premise because the genre, tone, setting, and structure just shifts every arc, and the "premise" usually only matters to Gon out of dozens of characters with individual motivations that get introduced.
I get a laugh out of people saying One Piece is too long to get into when I typically get the urge to reread it every 2 years or so (currently just started up, again, and already through volume 45). It's so worth the love it gets and the time it takes to read.
@@bimblor7945 XD lol. Fair but also it's just what is worth the time to you, and I don't do it over night. 1. One Piece 2. Attack on Titan 3. Vinland Saga 4. Kaguya-Sama Love is War 5. Black Clover 6. Boku no Hero 7. Please Go Home, Akutsu-san 8. Please Don't Bully Me, Nagatoro 9. Dr. Stone 10. Kaiju No.8 Yeah, my list is pretty out there lol
Komi can't communicate is my favourite series right now. So much wholesomeness. I find myself cheering out loud whenever she makes the slightest development.

One piece is so dear to me as well!! I feel that it will always be my number 1, no matter what, since I also feel a deep and strong connection with it. And I didn't grow up with it, I've been in this world for the past 3-4 years only, so I discovered it only when I was 26. However, my brother was only 12-13 at that time, we've been exploring it together, so he will probably have somewhat the grow-up experience you also had. ❤️ I'm so happy and jealous at the same time! And what you said about One Piece..everything is so true!! 🙂 Thank you!
One piece gets a lot of shit from lots of people because it's too mainstream etc... and I love it when people are not ashamed or afraid to put it on their top list. I am 30 and been reading it since I was 15 or 16 and it's definitely on my top 10 of all times.
This may sound a little snobby (I love naruto and bleach) but I’ve never really liked that one piece is grouped on with naruto and bleach. As much as I like naruto and bleach, they’re both notorious for being classic shounen, but also having some serious flaws. ie: bad ending, inconsistencies, poorly written female lead, etc. I think it’s a shame because a lot of people shrug it off as “another shonen” but it’s so much more than that. Out of all the phenomenally written, psychological, seinen series that I’ve read, none have topped one piece.
@@zacksilver8257 The only reason One Piece gets hate is because it's lumped in together with Naruto and Bleach and people think it's the same mainstream shonen shit ( I like Bleach and Naruto but One Piece is way above any of those) without even reading it, the only series that ever topped One Piece for me is Berserk and Vagabond came pretty close but One Piece is just right up there with the absolute best, also it's the 3rd highest rated manga in MAL and 2nd highest rated on Anilist which makes me really happy.
I've waited for this for a while now. :) Love your picks. I'll give mine a go... 1. One Piece 2. Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler 3. Kaguya Sama Love is War 4. Queen's Quality 5. To Your Eternity 6. Yotsuba & 7. Case Closed/Detective Conan 8. Berserk 9. Hunter X Hunter 10. Attack on Titan
@@lulilua9603 Berserk really isn't my taste. It can be a bit too intense for me at points. I still appreciate a lot about it even though other aspects really aren't for me. Sure objectively it may be better but this isn't an objective list.

right now im in the process of re-reading the last few arcs of the manga, because i read them week-for-week, and you kinda forget a lot of stuff reading it like this, and yeah...i dont think ive ever read or watched something that makes me just...FEEL so much lol. when i see the characters happy, i have to grin and laugh and be excited, but it also can make me incredibly sad incredibly fast, because i love all these people oda created so much...i also dont think ive ever been more interested in any fictional world more than the one piece world. like, yeah, lord of the rings and star trek are cool and have interesting worlds, but no world ever makes me think about it so much, just the possibilities and the possible connections (bc we all know oda is a GENIUS at connecting things!!) and just....yeah same, one piece is my fave ongoing story, and i think just my favourite story period lmao
The only real contender with One Piece as the best masterpiece ongoing manga/manhwa is Kingdom, Vinland Saga, Berserk, Tower of God, AoT, HxH, and Jojo, with the closest being Berserk but since it's really not consistent, I can confidently say that One Piece really is the best series of all these masterpieces
Glad you like One Piece, I also do! But your statement is incorrect. First of all, most of those series are completely different, in themes, concepts, humor, etc. So comparing them is kinda pointless. Secondly, Berserk not being consistent is not something that affects the comparison with other pieces of fiction. It's just the way it is released. And finally, you can say that One Piece is the one you like the most, the same goes for any other one, but "THE BEST" is far from any biased judgment to decide.
@@BautistaGresch You can watch Mr. Morj analysis and realize for yourself how Oda writes One Piece. And yes, my judgement of what is the best manga also touches how often it releases. It's just like judging a school project where one is expected to submit within a week while the other one was given 6 months to finish it. Obviously the 6 months project is expected to produce way way way more substance and quality than the 1 week release but with One Piece, even if it is releasing on a weekly basis, still have its writing consistently on tip-top quality. That is why it's a manga leaps above the rest for me. Kingdom is bimonthly, JoJo is monthly, Berserk is averaging 4-5 months per chapter (RIP Miura), HxH indefinite hiatus, while One Piece is weekly... let that sink in.
@@bayekofsiwa5847 You are right in the fact that more time gives you a better chance at delivering quality, but the fact still remains that those are the circumstances. And that being the case, like I said, don't compare them then. Because you wouldn't compare the two school projects if one has just a day to do it, while the other one has a year.

I’d like to see someone make a case for checking out the source material - even if I can already think of some of the reasons why!
One Piece has been number 1 ever since I started reading it. I've read lot of new manga seinen and shonen, but One Piece remains the best in my opinion.
I read my first manga volume this last Thursday night and then ran into One Piece. I went out bought the first four 3 in 1’s last night. Finished volume 1 and I’m hooked already. I love it. I’m gonna have to slow myself down so I can really soak it in.

One Piece over Berserk? Heck yeah. I think a lot of people (especially manga reviewers) are afraid to put series like One Piece in the same tier as series like Berserk because they're much more mature and acclaimed. But it's all just taste at the end of day and I can totally understand people who love One Piece more than Berserk... because I'm one of them

I loved golden age as it is my favorite arc and one piece obviously for many reasons, but kingdom definitely has aspects of both and it’s own creativeness. It’s been a blast so far and I feel like I haven’t even seen anything crazy yet.
When you got to #1 that was a heartfelt speech 😭
So glad vinland saga made the list. It is my favorite series of all time.
I'm so eagerly awaiting issues 12+ to come out in English.
@@simian5805 oh u mean the volumes? Ya the hardcover 12 is the next one to come out.
So good.
@@simian5805 coming April I think. I'm on volume 9 so I cant wait to read it
I just started reading One Piece.
Same I started when WCI started and it’s my favorite shonen manga ever and definitely top 5 mangas for me too
Im glad people start to see how good One Piece is..
Started reading it earlier this year and I finished reading it within 3 months
@@chiragmathias771 it's just really good, I'm convinced that the only people who say it's trash haven't even read 20% of it, but in most cases not even like a few chapters

5. One punch man
6. Shuumatsu no Valkyrie
7. Goblin Slayer
8. Overlord
9. Hajime no ippo

Yep you said it berserk is out of hayatus hopefully we can get a chapter every month Ik that is pushing it but we need berserk kingdom is amazing you should read Oyasumi punpun it’s completed just a recommendation and you should also read Pluto
I thought I was the only one who loved golden kamuy
Lol me too
What is it about? I've been hearing about it but I haven't really tried it yet
@@glaucoke8530 it’s a very interesting premise, it’s like a treasure hunt kinda that takes place during a war

It really is 😂
100%
@@EastCoastManga Hi!
I agree, his intro never gets old!
I honestly sometimes return to a video purely to see the intro again XD
I get a laugh out of people saying One Piece is too long to get into when I typically get the urge to reread it every 2 years or so (currently just started up, again, and already through volume 45). It's so worth the love it gets and the time it takes to read.
some people have lives
@@bimblor7945 XD lol. Fair but also it's just what is worth the time to you, and I don't do it over night. This year, since there are 98 volumes, I started in February and just did a book a day, which only takes maybe an hour to read. With commute or breaks where I wasn't doing anything, anyway, it worked out well.
@@bimblor7945 you just need to manage your time well, it’s not like you gotta finish in week, most people have like 5+ hours of daily screen time anyway. I just choose to replace that screen time with reading one piece.
Just a few months ago, I read all of One Piece for the first time. It is one of the best things (and the best shonen manga) I've ever read.
I have only discovered onepiece recently and it most definitely deserves a number one spot.

One Piece is the GOAT
Omg I love your football taste never knew your manga taste was even better❤️❤️
Truth has been spoken! I've been following One Piece since I was 13 & now 25. Always my number 1 of all time.
One peice has 99 volumes if we assume all volumes are 5.00 USD it would cost 495 to get all of them
@@starstudio8402 they’re around $9.99 USD actually
Absolutely!
A MANS DREAM WILL NEVER DIE…
One piece is so dear to me as well!! I feel that it will always be my number 1, no matter what, since I also feel a deep and strong connection with it. And I didn't grow up with it, I've been in this world for the past 3-4 years only, so I discovered it only when I was 26. However, my brother was only 12-13 at that time, we've been exploring it together, so he will probably have somewhat the grow-up experience you also had. ❤️ I'm so happy and jealous at the same time! And what you said about One Piece..everything is so true!! 🙂 Thank you!
i like how you don’t spoil the whole series
you just say what you need to know without spoiling or saying too much
One piece gets a lot of shit from lots of people because it's too mainstream etc... and I love it when people are not ashamed or afraid to put it on their top list.
Love your picks. I'll give mine a go...

@@lulilua9603 Berserk really isn't my taste. It can be a bit too intense for me at points. I still appreciate a lot about it even though other aspects really aren't for me. Sure objectively it may be better but this isn't an objective list.
@@phantom-pr6op Nothing can be "objectively better" because "better" is an adjective used to describe things in terms of someone's personal taste. For example, I think vanilla is better than chocolate, but others might disagree. Therefore, there is no objective answer. I just want to clarify things for everyone here, not just you.

Just caught up with Kingdom, it's really good, can easily make it's way into a top 10.
right now im in the process of re-reading the last few arcs of the manga, because i read them week-for-week, and you kinda forget a lot of stuff reading it like this, and yeah...i dont think ive ever read or watched something that makes me just...FEEL so much lol. when i see the characters happy, i have to grin and laugh and be excited, but it also can make me incredibly sad incredibly fast, because i love all these people oda created so much...i also dont think ive ever been more interested in any fictional world more than the one piece world. like, yeah, lord of the rings and star trek are cool and have interesting worlds, but no world ever makes me think about it so much, just the possibilities and the possible connections (bc we all know oda is a GENIUS at connecting things!!) and just....yeah same, one piece is my fave ongoing story, and i think just my favourite story period lmao
Tower of God is a watered down One Piece and offers the same things. So it has mo chance against One Piece, while other series give different things.
My favourite shōnen series is GinTama but its your opinion..great choice thou
I don’t even read much manga or many comics but I am really enjoying watching your videos. Kinda inspiring me to check some stuff out.

Code Geass is masterpiece anime. For manhwa Solo leveling
Never thought i would see nozoki ana make a top manga list
@@johnwiese6760 Haha yeah the last 2 in my Top 10 are leaning more into my subjective take on them since they really blew my mind when I was like 17 when I've read them but I've just recently read Monster and 20th Century Boys and it definitely kicked LMS and Nozoki Ana out of my Top 10 lol
One piece is something that I love strangely, no matter what I read manga, manhwa, or novels, it remains special to me and nothing can reach the extent of my love for him

I’m so excited to see more people talking about To Your Eternity, it’s such an important series to me. 💗
I just started watching the One Piece anime with my daughter today. What a great show. Its cheer out loud good. It’s funny, it’s dramatic, it’s got action. It’s just all round a lot of fun. Great great show.
This is an excellent list. I was waiting with baited breath to see if One Piece would make the cut 😄 Would also love to see a video with your take on anime adaptations, because I got into One Piece, HxH and Berserk through the anime series. I’d like to see someone make a case for checking out the source material - even if I can already think of some of the reasons why!
One Piece has been number 1 ever since I started reading it. I've read lot of new manga seinen and shonen, but One Piece remains the best in my opinion.
The intro always makes me smile

I just picked up Beastars Vol 1 and added a few more to to my list based on your video! Thanks for all you do
One Piece over Berserk? Heck yeah. I think a lot of people (especially manga reviewers) are afraid to put series like One Piece in the same tier as series like Berserk because they're much more mature and acclaimed.
