- This is what it's like to really live on a university campus (in Sixth College dorms) as a sophomore, meeting new people, and having strangers as roommates... Can it really be that socially dead?

hey, just came across your videos last week and i've been watching since. I got into UCSD for fall 2022 term Computer Engineering but ERC college.
While ranking colleges for UC application, I just did the ranking randomly, being unaware of the fact that each of them have different GE's
Could you please suggest if there's a way to transfer colleges at this moment, before uni starts or should I just reject my offer as I've no interest in history, foreign languages and writing (MMW)?
Hey congratulations on your acceptance! Unfortunately, there’s not really a “straight-forward” way to transfer colleges. The only way you can (as I’ve heard) is if you can prove that transferring to a different college would allow you to graduate a couple of quarters earlier. This might take some work as you have to plan out your next four years and show it to your advisors and then get approval. It’s up to you whether you decide to reject the offer or go with the writing sequence. Each writing sequence ends up covering some of the same things, but with variations of that topic, if that makes sense. Hope this helps! Good luck on your decision making! :)

Yeah makes sense, it's just that my writing skills aren't really up there, being an international student so I'm afraid it might bring my GPA down or that I won't be able to graduate within the 4 years atleast. Also just a quick one, is there any chance being in ERC, that I can graduate in about 3 or 3 and a half years?
that would all depend on your major, ERC's GE requirements, and assuming you stick with your major all four years (without switching). but i definitely do think it's possible, you'll just have to plan out your four years and see if it works for you!

does everyone get their own sink? I'll be entering sixth in the fall!
congrats on your acceptance! and as far as i know, i believe it's about 1-2 people per sink. there should be 6 sinks in total for about a 12-14 person suite. i am kinda guessing on those numbers but that was my experience. hope this helps! :)

I just got accepted to Sixth College as a transfer student and I'm kind of scared. I'm hoping I get to live there but I don't know if I'd be used to living with people. Is there an option to live with people but have a single bedroom?
ayyy you made it into Sixth! congratulations! and i understand your fear, it is definitely a big change. there is definitely an option to have a single bedroom while living with people, but it's rare only because there are way more double bedrooms than single bedrooms. just keep an open mind and realize that this is all part of the journey! :)

So is ur cost of living more expensive than a dorm? I’m confused.
well im still living in a dorm technically. it's just i live in some of the newer buildings that just finished construction. i dont think i pay more, but if i do, it's not anything more than a hundred. generally speaking, i think everyone pays the same no matter where they live, unless you are living in a single or a triple. i am living in a double.

yep! i got off the waitlist for on-campus housing and was lucky enough to have had that space be in Sixth College!
