VERY HONEST REVIEWS: New Thrive Waterproof Eyeshadow Sticks, Westman Atelier MIMI Blush & More

- Today I tried very hard to give you a cool, effortless makeup look with some new makeup I've been testing lately. It didn't really work out that way. But this GRWM does offer a valuable demonstration of the new Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyeshadow sticks (not to be confused with the Thrive Brilliant Eye Brightener sticks!), and I'll be demystifying the difference between the two formulas and their shade ranges.
Also, Westman Atelier released (or re-released?) their Mimi shade, and I'll spoil it - it's GORGEOUS. It's my new fave. That, a dewy skin prep sesh, raidant complexion and a swatch party at the end - this one's got something for everyone.

Thank you for review on Thrive waterproof eyeshadow. I recently bought the dark brown and Terra cotta colors. They do not seem to dry, but stay sticky on my eyelids. Not pretty on my 64 year old eyelids. I love the eyebrighteners so I'll be exchanging the eye shadow for them. Thanks for your reviews on Thrive
I love the Thrive eyeshadow sticks! I'm so confused why people have had trouble with them. I'm a makeup newbie and they work perfectly for me! Makeup usually creases on me and these do not! When I blend with the sponge it works perfectly, though I only blend the outer eye because I like the rest to be vibrant. I tried Laura Mercier after buying the Thrive Causemetics eyeshadow sticks but I have had trouble with them. Some seem patchy, some blend away, and some just don't show up well on my skin. I really hope Thrive makes more eyeshadow sticks in different colors 😫
Maybe because I do not blend it all out I have a different result than others. Mine looks so vibrant and beautiful! I absolutely love it. I also never feel it on my eyelids. The ONLY time I do is after a shower (I usually put the eyeshadow on day 1 and wear it still day 2 because it lasts so well without touch ups) it may feel odd when I blink but it's not bad and it goes away. LOVE THEM ❤️ 🥰 I don't touch my powder eyeshadows anymore. I like what is quick and I know will look great every single time instead of learning how to use the powders better 😁 I'm so sad that people are having trouble with them because they may not expand on it..
; it's funny seeing the swatches on your hand at the end because the colors look nothing like that on my skin lol I didn't know the lighter shade was pink! It looks like a bright moonlight color on me.. maybe slightly champagne.
You don’t wash off your eye makeup?

@@atvillegas I love them and I plan on buying the remaining colors I don't have. They barley look like they've been worn down and I wear them almost everyday now. I've even worn the powdered eyeshadow by Thrive over them (outside of my eye) for a dark smokey eye and it works great!
I would say not to blend them out. If this looks to bold on your skintone then maybe lightly pat it out with your finger.
The WA blush is looking absolutely stunning on you at around 13:10. Although that effect was gone by the time you were doing final thoughts (probably due to heavier contouring/bronzing). What a pretty shade though.
What you said about mascara is so true. I recently started taking collagen peptides and my eyelashes have thickened up from it (yay!). Using my Glossier Lash Slick is a completely different experience now.

So satisfied with the fox moment. Loved it. Felt like something I would definitely do. :D As for the makeup, the westman atelier mimi blush looks to die for *drool* (for context, I relate to your level of love for blush so much).
I have chouchette, it looks very similar to Mimi…I’ll have to look up the swatches to see the difference. Very much enjoyed all the nature soundtrack + FOX!
1 - Investing in a humidifier for my office and one for the bedroom is a purchase I would make over and over again. It is such a game changer when the weather is cold and dry. I spent a night in a hotel this weekend for work and haven’t been away in a long time. The first thing I told my fiancé when I got home is what a difference the humidifiers make and I was so happy to get home to them. That hotel turned me into a dry husk of a human.
2 - Mascara! Yes to everything you said and thank you for turning my into a Thrive Mascara convert. It’s the only mascara that doesn’t transfer on me and I have the worlds most oily eyelids. And I love that’s it’s so easy to remove. It’s funny you brought it up in this video because I just repurchased it this morning before I watched you. I also finally sprung for one of the original eye shadow sticks having remembered your endorsement of them and I’m glad I made the right decision between the two.
I know girl my little ones just got over a little cold and it's so hard to see them in pain and agony!!! It's really difficult for me also 😕 there's nothing worst in this world then seeing them like that and knowing there's nothing we can do ...it's heartbreaking...I'm so glad everyone's feeling better!

I appreciate this review. I had seen one on TicTok from a woman who was a bit older (Like I am at 51) and she said the Thrive Waterproof Eyeshadow didn't work well for an older woman with a hooded eye because the upper/lower lids would stick together at the crease. This review helped me to not waste money.

Came here to see what you had to stay about the Thrive Eyeshadow Sticks. Mostly, I wanted to make sure it's not just me who felt disappointment! I LOVE my Eye Brightener Sticks, so I tried the Shadow Sticks, and TBH may have bought too many (pink eye = throw out makeup!). They make my eyelids stick together! I don't like it. Thank you for agreeing LOL. I'm off to put some powder on my lids cuz this is driving me nuts 😛 (NEW FAN HERE. Thanks!!)

I've been waiting for mimi to come out as a single blush since the shade was included in a WA holiday kit that also included the nectar highlighter stick and it sold out before I saved the coins up for it lol.. heartbreak. I eventually picked up the nectar highlight but was puzzled why mimi hadn't yet appeared!! Finaaaaallly!

I only have one powder blush that I recently got from Ere Perez (tapioca cheek color in Paris) but when I saw Mimi from Westman Atelier.. wow! You sold me :) and this is after you recently inspiring me to finally try cream makeup/Roen 11:11 & Kiss my liquid lip balms in Remi and Charlie (received yesterday) as well as Salt New York which I just received today and already love them all. I’m re-thinking my stance on blush. I have rosacea and acne/post acne redness so I always stayed away from blush, but now i’m seeing so many more suitable and nuanced color options. Westman Atelier is expensive.. but since this will be my only cream blush, I can honestly justify it! This is a long way of saying thank you ❤️
We need similar shades to Mimi!!! ADORE ADORE ADORE that shade! My absolute favorite of the brand… and overall!!! Is am praying everyday they will make it permanent ! I need to prepare myself to find a similar color …in case!!! The 2 I found were close were Laura mercier ginger and hourglass loyal!!!

Your makeup always looks great and I appreciate honest reviews lol i love eye shadow sticks because they usually are easier for me. I generally just use a lighter shade on my lid, darker shade as a liner that I smudge out and highlighter shade for inner corner and brow. I have very hooded eyes so I don't bother with crease anything lol from what you said these might work for me but then... if they don't smudge out enough? Idk lol either way thanks!
Very interesting. The Thrive Brilliant Eye Brighteners do not work for me--they have zero staying power and have disappeared from my eyelids in an hour. And so many of the colors were just...so...similar. Will not repurchase the eye brighteners but am now excited to try these new sticks. 😁

Finally took the plunge and ordered the original Brilliant Eye Brighteners after watching this and the sale Thrive had yesterday. They are kind of pricey but every cream eyeshadow I've tried has creased so bad - I've heard these are pretty easy to wear and work with so fingers crossed they live up to the hype!

I have the original Mimi from WA, and I swear it’s a different color from what I’m seeing on screen here. Mine is so much more brown. Your Mimi looks much more like Chouchette to me, which I also have and love.
I think the same, mimi doesn't look the MIMI color I have..
We had the pleasure of a stomach bug flying through the house over Christmas one year. The only person who dodged it was my dad, who never changed any diapers. Gross, but true. Thankfully, the kids were too young to know that we had to delay Christmas by 2 days until everybody felt well again.
Is Westman Atelier's Mimi similar to Em Cosmetics Pearl Tea blush stick?
Oh, Muna. Every. Day. It layers, and I can add powder over that for even more depth. Good to know about the new sticks, though... Bummer.

Ran across your video today looking for reviews on these waterproof Thrive sticks in order to get a gift for a friend and find a one & done sort of product to take with me for travel. The way you're describing it reminds me of how I felt the first time I tried a creme to powder Shadowsense color. I thought I absolutely hated them. They didn't blend like I was used to and I thought they were splotchy, they dried too fast, the brush picked up too much, and left my eyes feeling funky. After some research I found that it worked much better with synthetic brushes and with a dabbing motion instead of a buffing motion, that natural brushes and fingers dried the products too fast and the buffing motion seemed to drag the product around. I bring this up to ask, if you tried these sticks with that in mind - that you need a fluffy synthetic applicator and a different motion, do you think they would apply better? I was really hoping they would be the solution I was looking for.
Thanks for being very honest. If I was purchasing makeup right now. I would rather get the eye brighteners. I am not great with eye looks so I would have issues with the new thrive product.

I'm curious about the Tula! I'm very cool toned/fair, what is the tint like? I find with some tinted sunscreens it will either cancel out the white cast, or make me look like an oompaloompa.
It's super subtle and golden. Not at all shimmery, and I see a blurred effect but not really any color on my skin.
I have such oily eyelids the waterproof eyeshadow sticks are so enticing to me. The brilliant eye brightener melt after like 2 hours on my eyeballs.
Could you compare mimi and playground from victoria beckham please?
mimi really reminds me of chouchette from westman atelier
I have both and while they’re in the same ballpark, mimi is considerably more brown and leans pinker than the peachiness of chouchette. On my skin Mimi is less bright and more chic understated.
I’m fascinated by this review. Might be one of those situations of all the reasons you hate it might make it for me? I do not wear powder eyeshadow ever as the smallest amount of powder in my eyes is a deal breaker. So only creams that don’t launch particulates. I’ve never purchased an eye brightener because of the shimmer level. It’s matte to barely satin for me. One and done only. I don’t have oily eyelids but I do get creasing.
My dream eye product is a phytosurgence eye with the same or even less shimmer than the original formula, in a light neutral tan color, in a stick, that I can color on my eyelids and doesn’t require any pulling/tugging to blend. I don’t mind working fast but I’m not trying to make wrinkles over here.
Also since I’m writing a book, the shade Mimi looks dead on for the SNY shade I mixed up myself that won Kiki’s custom color contest. It’s such a wearable natural blush color for fair-light folks.

I purchased the waterproof eyeshadows with high excitement and expectations. However, I am sending them back.
I wore them the first time all day to work and it remained tacky all day.
The next day I wore them with eye primer. Unfortunately with the same result. Much too tacky and sticky for my liking. I really expected that to wear out after a while but did not.
The WA foundation stick is Amazing!
I have deeper set eyes and partially hooded as well, and I have been using the Riji shade more like an “thick” eyeliner. With my blue eyes, it’s a nice contrast, and with my hooded eyes, it looks nice. Otherwise they are very hard to use and not beginner friendly at all. The brilliant eye brightener are so easy!! I’m disappointed.

❤️ wish I was a one and done girl too, I would grab these thrive thingys, but I am not. I am ‘ more and more and then some’ of an eyeshadow girl and try to put as much colour on my lids as possible. I only discovered this maximalist eyeshadow trait in me this year. Lord knows how many liquid and creams I have bought to be that one and done girl and didn’t use any of them

I was initially interested in the new thrive eye products but then every time I saw videos on ig even from thrive applying them it was like super obvious that they were hard to work with. You could tell they tugged the skin and just didn’t move well and that put an end to my interest

I think the most important thing about eyeshadow & liner to me is how easy are they to remove.
I ordered the Riji eyeshadow stick from Thrive but didn’t use it until today because I had recent foot surgery. I was so excited to get it out and use it, and then was so very disappointed with it. Really frustrated, in fact. And I never could get the spongy tip to even open on either of the two that I purchased. I was just disgusted. So I came looking for reviews and came across yours and I’m not one bit surprised at your reaction. I am just really disappointed that I spent all that money and will probably never even try to use the product again.
