For the first time today, I have seen some of the people that have worked on Hoarders since I started watching a dozen years ago - & seen how these people have obviously continued working. They have aged! And they have obviously not just been sitting around - but have been working at their craft even when not taping a show - I see the results in their eyes. Hoarding is a mental illness - folks that dedicate their lives healing those with mental illnesses are getting extra gold stars from the angels in heaven. Thank you...💕👏🏻

The son is so lucky to have such a great girlfriend. She is so loving and supportive. I've seen so many spouses on this show just be too disgusted and mad to even bother trying to actually help. The son and daughter-in-law both seem like great people. That's going to be a lucky little baby to have them for parents.
Edit: Now that I've watched the episode in its entirety, let me add patience to the list of positive attributes of the son's girlfriend. She is extremely patient with Cobra, even though he doesn't seem to realize it. (I really hope either the son or daughter-in-law wind up reading these positive comments and it puts a little smile on their face. I really hope they know they did the right thing, even though it was the hard thing. Props to both of them. Seriously. I am a borderline hoarder myself. My home is nowhere near to the extent of these people's on the show, but it still isn't your average home. I sincerely wish I had people in my life that were this supportive and encouraging. I feel like if I did, I really could overcome this condition.)

At ~8:00 finding the card William gave to his dad made me start ugly crying and brought back the migraine that was finally subsiding after 14+ hours.
It reminded me of being 27 and going through our mom's things after she passed away and seeing what she kept from our childhoods. Then almost 2 years later doing the same for our dad. They each kept things that we forgot about until we saw them again.

I use to be a hoarder, it sucked! I came from a family of all hoarders and it was such a difficult childhood, but today I can truthfully say that I’m no longer a hoarder. It took years of therapy, hard work and consistency for me to overcome this disorder. Now I get anxiety if I feel like I have too much stuff! People CAN change!

You could tell that Cobra had just been struggling with such big losses and this was his way of coping. It takes a strong person to admit your faults and a stronger person to accept help to rectify them. What a great family all around! It's hard to break the cycle and get out of the downward spiral. Good on ya champion! This is why as family you have to stick together and see things through.

The psychologist here was so much more effective and appropriate than those on other episodes of Hoarders! He said it from the start: "I'm here to support you AND to challenge you." Unlike other "professionals," he doesn't enable and reinforce the dysfunction by pandering to it. Cobra trusts him because he trusts Cobra by holding him accountable to reality.
One bit I thought was missing that would have helped a lot was to help Cobra move from his internalized role of son and step into his role as father and grandfather. He will always be his parents' son, but he's also so much more.
He has a lot to be proud of, and he has a fantastic family. He's so defensive, but he hasn't realized that he's the one disrespecting himself. When he claims his accomplishments and blessings as well as his ability to be a good father and grandfather, he's got everything he needs for a lifetime of happiness and fulfilment.

Although the psychologist set a pretty non-judgmental tone overall, I feel like Cobra was *told* to do a lot of things, which would overlook a lot of mental/emotional issues. For example, he was essentially forced to get rid of the cars, without actually receiving help to understand why exactly he is so attached to them. I hope Cobra got the emotional support and help he needed in this transition. Wish the psychologist could contribute more than just being an understanding host.

I like the guy that came to take away the Mustang and the other car. He says, he isnt Cobra, his name is Fred, then he says Hey I was in here years ago and offered you good money for this car. Today I will take it away but you are gonna pay me to take it. He was not happy to be taking those cars. I think sometimes hoarders need to be dealt with in this fashion and like there was probably a large conversation between the auto salvage guy the doctors and Cobra/Fred. I think that should be shown on the show more, when people in the hoarders life actually make them realize something not just the psychologists or the organization experts.

This brings back memories of my own parents, who passed away within nine months of each other. After my mother's funeral the family was gathered in their beautiful home, and my brother spoke the difficult truth: We could not leave the house as a museum to their lives. He then took a painting off the wall, and that broke the spell that threatened to hold us back from doing the things needed to settle the estate.
