    When my dad grew up it was his father that made the Christmas cookies and Christmas candy because he was better at it, that same grandfather would cross stitch all the time and was very knowledgeable about yarn, and my mom hates housework so dad was the one mopping and what not so I grew up on "there are no gender roles, just stuff that needs to get done." Sure I grew up in a bit of a different culture but still... we need to account individual skillset. I married a man that has a job similar to janitor (easiest way to explain) so he gets up earlier than me and I wake up to the smell of mopped floors and clean toilets on the weekend because it comes natural to him to do that.
    Chores are not pink or blue, just something to do. And remember to show gratitude when someone has done a chore because everybody likes chores better when it gets appreciated with a "thank you for doing that!"

    • @wintersweet6717
      @wintersweet6717 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I never thought of it this way. I grew up with the "gender rules." I work secularly and still try to fulfill the cooking and cleaning. Guess what? I feel a certain amount of guilt when I don't consistently get it all done. My husband grew up with a mother that stayed home and cooked 5 days a week and did all the chores until he was 15 yrs-old. He is spoiled and he does not like left overs. He will also talk about me to his mother if I "fall short." For reasons other than this we are not currently together. Whew, that really takes a load off.

I get frustreated when i cannot do or give to ppl i care about. So it's not that ppl have unrealistic expectation, i think it just ppl being self-centered ans selfish. when you love you want to give. when you love that love extend to physical intimacy so i don't understand i you can gice yourself away to someone yet be so reluctant to do for them....

      Steve has the right mentality about relationships or maybe I feel that way bc I’m 35 yrs old. To make any relationship work, you have to have a partner with the same views. So, Steve is perfect for Marjorie. If my husband had 5 or more jobs to provide for the family, I wouldn’t expect him to do any housework bc he’s tired! Me not having to work and have the pressure of paying bills frees my mind to take care of kids, have hobbies, volunteer, visit with family/friends, tend to his needs and clean the house. And I have the option to hire someone if I don’t feel like cleaning. Nowadays, all genders wants to be treated equally. Equality has women paying 50/50 on all the bills with their significant others and still doing all the housework. #ThatsARoommate

    I am still very traditional. I believe the man should handle handyman stuff around the house while the woman should take care of the domestic nurturing of the house, however the woman should know how to do basic handy stuff ,just increase she's in a situation where the husband isn't home and the husband should sometimes offer to cook or wash dishes, especially to give his wife a break.

    • @jeaniemashup1016
      @jeaniemashup1016 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Paul Hogue yep. Hence the saying that the wife's income is the backup income. When your husband is low on income due to a layoff, illness or something else, it's expected that the woman becomes the provider until he's able to. At least where I come from.

    • @jeaniemashup1016
      @jeaniemashup1016 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Paul Hogue Paul if you couldn't get what I meant, that's in you. Relationships are based on understanding . Do what works for you and stop looking for an argument. I just gave that as a major example that will work in any situation. Some have arrangements that the woman can pay for basic things like groceries or pay bills or whatever. I stated clearly,where I come from.. so yes, many families are ok with the man providing financial while the woman doesn't pay for anything except if she feels like it or she might even be a stay at home wife to take care of the family. It'depends on what works for u

It's either they are the breadwinner in their family or they make more money and they have a feminine husband that cooks, cleans and clean while they bring home the paycheck. These woman seem to take the husband role while their husband take the wife role. It's funny how they want to act like it's 50/50 when it's never 50/50 but a partnership but someone is going to end up doing more (depending on how you look at it). It's either the man (the wife 😄) or the woman (the husband, the provider).

    If you're well-to-do, Steve's approach is fine--hire a housekeeper. If not, the men need to do their part. If they do an equal amount of work, including, say, repairs and yard work, okay. If their paid job takes more hours, then it's okay if they can't do 50% of the housework. But the total amount of work should be equally shared.

    But Steve is willing to pay for extra help. Some men don’t so I think it is fair what Steve does.

      Does their fair share? It's usually the man doing the far harder jobs to bring home the money. When do you see women climbing poles, working in sewers, building roads, houses and putting out fires. The vast majority of these hard workers are MEN. You women moan and complain but look at the world around you. It was built by us now sit down.

    Women just want to forsake their roles and put everything on their man/husband.
    If it’s a partnership and you truly want to trade off.....Stop making excuses and trade off.
    All this stupidity about work life and having to juggle between it and family is annoying......If you choose to work and have a family then you need to man or woman up to the consequences of those choices.....Not pass them up.
    If a man were to say, “I’ve been working all day and I’m tired and need a break from things...He’d be crucified for it. Society and some women just want to put unnecessary burdens on men.
    Should he help? If it’s his house (meaning he lives there)....Yes.....However, Just because he helps doesn’t mean the woman needs to stop doing whatever task he takes on.
    A partnership is just that......A partnership.....You do what the other can’t. Sometimes a partner has to do more than the other in some areas...Especially if it’s their strength. i.e. If a wife cooks better than her husband then she needs to do the cooking.....Simple as that.

    Hell No. I give my wife anything she want. I'm not going to babysit clean or cook. Like Steve said she can hire someone and i will pay. My wife can work if she wants to and i don't need her money she can keep it. i don't care. But this is what i need. Clean home, ready food, everything organized and my wife. One thing i will do for my kids is Discipline them. Thats my job.
