👨🏫About Professor Silver & Pokemon Explained
Each episode of Pokemon Explained profiles a different Pokemon from the main cast and breaks down its COMPLETE history on the anime, including all of its battles, appearances, character development & significant storylines.
We'll be covering all of Ash and his companion's Pokemon.
We're just starting out, so if you have any requests or feedback, I'm game to listen! Please leave feedback in the comment section or email me at Alex@ProfSilver.com. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

I'm glad you actually did glide score can you do ashes torterra next or better yet Ash's Hawlucha or noivern
Gladion's Umbreon
Misty's Togepi!!
Can you do ashs lycanroc and dragonite, hawlucha and quilava
Ash’s torterra
When Ash left him with the air master, I never thought we'd see it again. Glad it followed in Charizards footsteps by going from good to great thanks to some specialist training!
good point
I know. They made it seem like goodbye. But then again, goodbyes don’t have to be forever as Greninja’s return reminded us.
I would've been really mad if it got the Primape treatment
@@bige81892 Tell that to Pidgeot and Butterfree!
@@uspo8326 I said don’t have to be as in not always. But believe me I’m still waiting for them to return too!
I like how instead of Gligar just getting the Razor Fang, he had to work to earn it. It really made him evolving to save Ash that much more satisfying.
Def agreed, one of my issues with Glalie is that it needed to evolve to master ice beam
@@ProfessorAlexSilver I wouldn’t say it NEEDED it. Juan confirmed it was close, but it got hit by two attacks at once which forced it to gain more power to rise to the challenge. Though I would have liked to see the difference in power between Snorunts and Glalies ice beam.
The fact that Gliscor managed to hold its own against so many strong opponents without knowing a single stab move really shows its potential
XD
If only earthquake wasn’t banned in the anime. Ash’s Torterra probably would’ve won against electivire and Drapion too. XD
@@bige81892 exactly
@@bige81892earth power is just as good
@@bige81892To be honest Norman used Earthquake through his Slaking against Ash in the Hoenn saga. The animated it very well through shockwaves instead of depicting an actual Earthquake with mass desteuction.
Ah, yes. Gliscor... If it wasn't for Infernape, this would be Ash's best Pokémon in Sinnoh, narrative-wise. A great evolution episode, (brief) release episode, and epic return. Love this batty.
Great way to bring Gary into the fold :)
I still remember how selfish Paul was in Gligar debut episode. He was more focus on capturing the Gliscor leader than actually helping and he ended up capturing it at the worst moment when Ash and the gang almost had the hard out of the city, Paul jump in at the last moment, attack and caught the leader and left with no care about the Gligars left without a leader.
Classic paul ahah
Wonder if Paul still has that Gliscor he caught, but yes Paul was still a jerk when he captured the Gligar leader.
that's why when he comes back, IF he comes back, i hope he gets immediately disqualified in the league he entered for playing dirty
@@LordRumshi He used it one time, but I don’t think ever used it outside that, you rarely see most of his Pokémon.
Paul did have the tendency to switch his team around and is up in the air if Paul chose to keep the gliscor he caught.
I loved Ash's Gliscor. It's one of my favorite gen 4 pokemon.
Ash having one definitely made it one of my favs that saga
It’s my fav Pokémon that he had in general
We could all take notes from Gliscor and his never-give-up attitude.
I couldn't agree more
*Ash’s Gliscor 10/10*
Lumiose Trainer Zac: “Great Personality. Great Development. And all-around great Pokémon.” - From the ‘Every Ash Ketchum Pokémon Reviewed in 10 Words or Less’ video.
Zac is right one!
Gliscor was just a nice humorous presence to have. Just goofy and charming every time you saw him. I wish he did get more wins but I do like how he's another example of charisma being able to trump win percentages for a Pokemon.
The goofballs are always great lol
I recently had the opportunity to watch the whole Sinnoh series back to back. Definitely one of the best eras of the anime- the character development of both the human and pokemon characters was fantastic
Easily a top 3 anime for me
Yesss!! One of Ash's most underrated Pokemon! Both in terms of personality, character development and battle prowess! Love Gliscor!! ❤
I definitely do 🤩
I think next to Infernape, gliscor was ash’s most developed Pokémon in Sinnoh. Similarly, I think Goodra was runner up as Ash’s most developed Pokémon to Greninja in Kalos.
@@bige81892 agreed!!
Ash's Gliscore did a great job against Drapion.
one of the best redemption battes in the series imo
Drapion did battle three pokemon previously
This pokemon is actually a cool one! Never knew about the evolved one until watching this video. I only knew about it's pre-evolved form.
It's super fun, Ash made me like the species
He evolved with The razor fang
Of all things, I didn't think leaving the party and coming back during the league would be a reoccurring thing. Goodra and Naganadel must've taken notes.
Definitely a trend setter
Yeah
Yeah. Too bad they didn't stay with him after the league, unlike Gligar
Well technically Charizard started the trend went to train in the charicific valley and came back for the league
@@langadube9611so did Bulbasaur and Squirtle, I wish I could say the same about Primeape
Despite the 28% Win Ratio, I feel Gliscor is a True Powerhouse. If given a few more battles to shine, it would come through, no doubt. Hoping it comes back in Journeys for a WCS match, and has a new move too, like, Acrobatics! Acrobatics would prove how Gliscor has Mastered battling in the Air, seeing how Acrobatics looks in the Anime. With a moveset of: Giga Impact, Acrobatics, Fire Fang, and Stone Edge... Gliscor would put in work. Or... replace Stone Edge for Sandstorm, to make use of Gliscor Sand Veil in a similar way to Paul's Froslass with Snow Cloak + Hail. THAT would be powerful!
I don't think ashes has sand vell
@@blacksheep7741 Well, we know it's not Toxic Heal, since Gliscor got hurt by Toxic Spikes.
StoneEdge won't suit Gliscor's since Anime change It's way of use . I think Rock Slide would work better.
BTW, Acrobatics?? Why not Sky Attack as replacement of Giga Impact?
Very true, it's more the last battle that happens which counts most
Sky Uppercut would be a real head banger if he knew that
i'm so happy to see an episode about gliscor! it was/is my favorite pokemon and i definitely think it deserved more attention and redemption! i really hope gliscor appears again in pokemon journeys!
I'll be honest, I was really looking forward to when you got around to this Pokemon in particular. Ash's Gliscor specifically is one of the main reasons why I myself like Gliscor as a Pokemon itself. The fact that something as menacing as a bat-winged scorpion monster having such an emotional side & eagerness to please those around it really struck home with me.
I had been wanting to do it for a while. I hope it lived up to the hype and that you're still enjoying!
Lmfao hahaha yes
Single handedly solved Ash's Drapion Problem. Gliscore was the GOAT
I'd love to do a video on drapion
Drapion battled Buizel, Staraptor, and Torterra while receiving some damages from them
They quickly replaced him in Ash’s team with a Gible that barely did anything so I’m glad Gliscor came back in the end but still question that writing decision.
Gible was dope tho!
The only memorable thing about Ash's Gible is hitting Dawn's Piplup with Draco Meteor almost all the time.
I think that if Gliscor was going to be left for training, they could have used the time to evolve Buizel into Floatzel, just like how the writers had to evolve Monferno into Infernape and Grotle into Torterra.
Darn shame it didn't get a rematch with his old boss during the Sinnoh League against Paul after it had training from Air Battle Master....
That'd have been awesomen narrative closure!!
They didn’t want a mirror match. That’s why Paul’s Torterra didn’t appear.
@@pn2294 I agree but at least the battle would've had more spirit behind it, but I suppose they didn't want anything to take away from Infernape's story. However, it would've been better to have one or two of Paul's more recognizable Pokemon in his squad instead of a random Froslass or Ninjask (which we did see him catch in a flashback).
@@OurKindofEntertainment I think Honchkrow should've been there and torterra takes it down cause
1. Torterra gets a win as a torterra
2. Torterra gets revenge after losing to honchkrow the first two times
Gliscor here has the best moveset its ever used here in fact I wouldn't change it any day if I want too for being this good even though it could've been used once more in battle!
Definitely a great one, I really like Bulbasaur's moveset as well
Gliscor the lovable underdog.
I feel it's unique expressional trait with the 《😋》face helped also cement itself as one of the more memorable monsters of Ash's Sinnoh team.
Great job as usual Prof!
Thanks!!
I think Gliscor is the only Pokémon that ash evolved with a Stone but pretty much saved his life and he threw the razor fang at him to catch him. I remember he wanted the stone so badly but Ash wanted him to wait. Great video
Thanks!!
Ash's Gliscor is one of my favorite Ash Pokémon, and this video was exactly what it deserved. I hope to see more of these great videos in the future. Also the first time I've suggested a video and it came out less than a week later.
More to come!
Hey man. I appreciate the effort you put into summarizing the pokemons we grew up on into a video.
I love Gliscor!
Thanks, appreciate hearing that :-)
Another great video Professor Silverfox!
Glad you liked it!
I always thought Gliscor is a unique typing ground/flying the only thing it really worried about is ice and water. It's has good coverage
It also has to worry about heights and errant gusts of wind XD
Should be Ground/Dark since he can't even technically fly
@@AntonioMartinez-gv4ng neither can Hawlucha but it's still a flying type
@@kaiserdrago9598 Yeah but it that's because it actually looks like a bird, nothing about Gliscor looks like a bird or a flying type honestly at all so the writers should've picked a better secondary type for him so why not Dark instead of flying he actually looks like he could pool that off way better
@@AntonioMartinez-gv4ng I think they chose flying considering gligar and gliscor look like bat scorpion hybrids
One of best sinnoh capture ash got. It personality far exceed it win/lose streak. I'm glad it wasn't like riolu or hippottasus, moms that should of been ash but wasn't. Also gliscor had an insane moveset when it return
Def one of the best!
Thanks so much for doing this
Of couse!
Gliscor was one of my favorite pokemon of Ash. It did so great even though having a low winning percentage.
One of the funniest :)
Love your videos keep doing your thing.
Thank you! Will do!
I enjoyed the video, Alex!
Glad to hear that David!
I wanna know this. How was Electabuzz Thunder Punch was able to effect Gligar, Gligar’s friends, and how Thunder effecting the leader Gliscor when they are part ground type.
Short answer is anime logic haha
This is the same show where a crogunk casually punched back draco meteor fired from a dialga…
Just so amazing I LOVE IT
If only!
I appreciate the parallels to the unfairness with Gliscor to Palpitoad & Boldore👍👍👍!!!
THanks!
Before this video, I never knew that Gary ever did anything good for anybody in the show, (I haven't really followed it since the Orange Islands). That's really awesome that he helped Ash and Gligar like that - I can now see where his sudden personality change in the Let's Go! games came from!
Bulbapedia is dead
@@robertbreschard3493 he never mentioned bulbapedia, but even after scrolling through all of it, I still can’t find who asked
Gary became a good guy after the Orange Islands for the most part :)
@@ProfessorAlexSilver That's so cool! :)
Awesome video professor
Glad you liked it!
Awesome gliscor anotherone of ashs sinnoh Pokémon now out of the way! Also I love all of ashes sinnoh Pokémon, and I look forward to seeing more of ashs Pokémon in a future Pokémon, gliscor was pretty adorable in my opinion! I love it’s storyline in the anime! Also just like infernape, gliscor came from being a week gligar, to a decent gliscor! It had to do training like ash’s charizard, did but made it back right before the league we’re he got to battle with ash agents ash’s OP rival Paul! Good stuff. 😊👏
More sinnoh pokemon soon??? ;)
I love ash's gliscor and his personality he's awesome and he's friendly
I loved seeing Gligar/Gliscor's growth so I agree. Gliscor learning to ride the updraft to escape close combat moves is sooooo clever. :) Such a cute pokemon design. Reminds me of characters like Zach Bell where they have horns to represent demons but are still very cute looking. Gliscor looks like something straight from hell but it is sooo cute.
Definitely one of my favorite character arcs in all the series
Ash's Gliscor definitely is one of mine favorite from his Sinnoh and gladly enjoyed seeing him here
Also hope y'all are having a great day.
Hope your day is swell as well
This guy is the reason Gliscor is one of my favorite pokemon.
Dope vid too Professor
Thanks so much !
Yes! The homie Gliscor finally gets his spotlight!
It deserves it :)
Alright that was a hilarious transition into the sponsor.
Thanks Professor :)
My pleasure!
Yay... Another video... Time to watch later 😅
The time has come ;)
An inspiring self-improvement story 👏🏽👏🏽
Definitely, it reminds me of goodra in many ways
This is my favorite class of the day
Thanks :)
Am i the only one thar find these videos extrememy heart warming?
4:34 I'll go get the mop and bucket.
Late yo the party cause by hr time I saw this in ny notifaions I was tired S hell lol
Gliscor is one of my top 10 fav pokemon of all time so I should enjoy this lol
Hope you liked it ☺️
I really love Ash's Gliscor he's really funny, full of emotions and very determined. And also he's one of Ash's cool looking Pokémon
💯💯
I cry realizing his Gliscor only beat Bastiodon and Drapion. I love Gliscor and he deserved alot more. Also its been a while since I’ve seen one of ur vids
Glad to see your content growing remember me at a million subs
I hope i get there some day haha
Hey you did it! Thank you!
No problem!
Sth I loved in "Fighting Fear with Fear" is that Ash took a tip from Paul of not letting Gligar evolved yet, mainly becuase Ash didn't to make things easy for Gligar until he was ready. Amazing
Awesome battle :)
sick looking pokémon!
I didn't initially like the concept when I first saw it a decade ago but it's really grown on me. I absolutely love the design now
Great video
Thanks so much christopher!
@@ProfessorAlexSilver Youre welcome!
I wish Gliscor got more wins. He deserved more. At least he got a big win on Paul's broken as hell Drapion.
Ayeee my favorite ground type!!!
Hope I did it justice!
I've been waiting for this video I love gliscor it justs kinda sucks that he didnt win very many battles
Even though he didn't win battles, he won our hearts XD
Ah yes, the MVP in the battle against Paul’s notorious Drapion! Gliscor was a great to Ash’s Sinnoh roster and a great Pokémon in general. Sure, it’s success rate is nothing to brag about but like I said, he took out Paul’s Drapion. Definitely knocks him up abit. Thanks for covering this klutz, Silver! Your videos never cease to be entertaining!
While I personally wouldn't call Gliscor the MVP of that particular battle (that honor goes to Infernape, fittingly enough), it was impressive to see it pull off a win against Drapion, with the damage from the burn it sustained from that last fire fang attack being what caused it to faint, interestingly enough. It was in my opinion the biggest win it got during the series, and it really proved that it had come quite a long ways since it's debut as a Gligar
@@matthewkuscienko4616 Sorry, what I meant is that it’s the MVP during the battle against Paul’s Drapion, not the entire Pokémon battle. I should of have clarified that. My bad.
That's awesome to hear :)
Nice 👌 video alex
Thanks 😁
I’m just glad that Ash’s Gliscor managed to defeat Paul’s Drapion after suffering many injuries throughout the Sinnoh League
Well great video
Thanks!!
Great video as always! To be honest I wish Gliscor learned a ground move like Dig instead maybe over X scissor or Giga Impact and it got a few more big wins.
Thanks!!! Dig could be cool, but I do love giga impact
He's the most favorite pokemon in Ash's Sinnoh team! And honestly , years later I relate this guy sooo much😅
Oh my how did I miss this 1.
Likewise, with me and the comment XD
Actually loved when he evolved
Same :)
Awesome video.
Thanks! More to come :)
Gliscor was always my favorite right next to infernape. I was going nuts as a kid when it finally brought down that Drapion.
Super satisfying end to its arc
Apperently me and Gliscor have more in common than we thought. Being overly emotional and eating alot.
All three of us I suppose XD
Gliscor one of my favorite ground types
Same!
1 of my favorite Ash-mon’s
Mine too :)
One of my favorite things about your channel is that you understand that just because a Pokémon loses, doesn’t mean it’s weak.
If a Pokémon loses a match against a strong opponent but still puts up a good fight, it’s still a strong battler.
Thanks! I value the story a lot more than the battles. Pokemon like lapras & Gliscor are still awesome even though their battling records aren't much to speak for
@@ProfessorAlexSilver completely agree
Nice vid
Thanks!
I don’t know why, but every time I see Ash’s Gliscor, I just imagine that if he could talk he would sound like Sir Pentious.
I get Sir Pentious vibes from him.
One of my favorite Pokémon
Same!
I love him ! Gliscor is one of my favorite pokemon !
I was so disapointed when Ash left him but when he return in the league I was SO happy !
Luckily we got Gible out of it :)
@@ProfessorAlexSilver yep !
So we didn’t lose a beloved character (at least not for long) we gained another one!

One of the best pokemons of Ash !!
Agreed!!!
Mr. Professor Alex Silver Sir,
Great Job Transitioning into Skillshare the way you did!! Love the way you smoothly transitioned into it!!
This video is truly quite amazing and I forgot how it evolved and everything. Sinnoh Arc wasn't my fav at all kinda forgettable anime my opinion especially you take away Champion Cynthia! Nice Work
Glad you liked the transition :)
@@ProfessorAlexSilver It was so smooth and very well done as I was like 😱 Best Paid Sponsor Segment from every channel I've watched 😃
I think Gliscor might the only Pokémon without a STAB move in its arsenal, imagine if it had Aerial Ace and Earth Power
Both would be awesome :)
The thumbnail tho it makes total sense lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol, thanks!
Oh yes Gliscor and I remember mentioning the other day about how it lost against Paul’s Torterra and Electrivire (Sinnoh League). It beat one of steel type gym leader’s Pokémon with a fire fang. It debut as a Gligar in that episode where the winds were strong and the Gligar and Gliscor were flying around, Paul caught their leader. Later, it battled against Paul’s Gliscor and Gary suggested evolving it with a razor fang. And for a time Ash left it with the wind master so it can learn to fly with the wings properly. The moves Gliscor used was sand attack, fire fang, x-scizzor, steel wing, stone edge and giga impact. From how strong a battler it was that was why I deemed it Ash’s second strongest ground type with his Krookodile(it never lost a battle) being the first.
Great breakdown as always!
Professor, will you please explain Ash's Sceptile's history... Actually I have watched advanced generation a very little part and I don't have enough time to watch the entire advanced series..So, it'll help me a lot in understanding Sceptile's strength and clear my doubt whether or not he is suitable for Master's eight
Ash's Sceptile is one of his strongest Pokemon. His strongest grass type, and it's in his Top 5 strongest along with his Charizard & Pikachu.
I'm working on the script :)
First off, I love gliscor and it's little wink with his tongue out is awsome
Second, I recommend doing brock sudowodo, James cacnea, Jesse yanmega, or the team rocket beware
All on the list! Beware would be really fun
@@ProfessorAlexSilver Oh for team rockets Pokémon we also need The OG duo Arbok and Weezing and Seviper and Mime jr!
One of Ashs underrated Pokémon. Much ❤ as always
❤❤
Really loved gliscors development it really improved its self in the anime
Agreed, I thought it was one of the tightest development arcs. It felt a lot like Goodra, not a lot of filler and everything fell into place narratively
I love the way how ash left it with the air battle master to improve on itself then came back to beat one of pauls Drapion.
Same, it was sick against paul
@@ProfessorAlexSilver fr that’s why I love Ash’s Gliscor tbh
I’m glad Ash’s Gliscor got appearances and battles as a gligar as quite a few of ash’s Pokémon don’t get those when unevolved. I do wish he has been in a gym battle as a Gligar though.
unfortunately he might've gotten whooped haha
@@ProfessorAlexSilver yeah but it still would’ve been on more gym battle he would’ve been in
Gliscor is just a sweet heart
I would love to see Gliscor again in future episodes
Same!
I loved gliscor, I wish it didn’t leave for training. It would have been cool to see it get more screen time and a couple more wins, I bet it could have done well vs volkner. Also surprised we never had a rematch between it and Paul’s gliscor. Hopefully it will return one day
I liked it on Ash's team but I did like that its absense led to the hilarity that is Gible
I love Gliscor!
Same :)
Given that so many other Pokemon when evolving had personality changes, I always loved that Gliscor kinda remained the same goofy Pokemon inside who loved sticking his tongue out. xD
Ah, the flying scorpion ...imagine if it were actually real 😱
that'd be scary haha
@@ProfessorAlexSilver Definitely 😭😭😭
