You will love your FE 350, great choice, just so nice to ride in a variety of conditions. So many great places to ride here in Oregon, we just have to tolerate a lot of wet and moisture. :) Ride on!
Great video man. Iv been following your quality FE content for a while. I have a 22FE350 non S that I have done a ton of work to. It has 4k miles and 180hrs of races, trail rides and the COBDR so far. I have two sets of wheels (for trail and ADV riding) two seats, two headlight masks, (one with a windshield), KTM subframe and plastics, tacomoto lighting kit, oil pump gears, oil filter and fuel pump. The bike is awesome and does do it all! I’d totally be down to make a 350 fan club 🎉 This is only my 2nd motorcycle and it has treated me very well. Nothing but oil and air filter changes. I’m planning on taking her to 10k miles with more BDR’s and trails. I think of the front brake as a feature to keep me from being too aggressive and sliding out the front tire. I run copper front brake pads that are aggressive and it works well. I’m sure it could be better but it’s by all means not anywhere near bad. Light bikes are the right answer. My uncle tipped a 901 over on the side of a mountain and it was a tricky and lengthy team effort or get it unstuck. Riding the AZBDR at the end of the month, let you know how it goes. Ride on!
Great feedback, I'll try those brake pads. Good point, too much front brake in knarly conditions can cause things to go bad! Thanks for following FE content, your bike sounds perfect! Your 350 sounds bulletproof with all the upgrades that you did! Thanks for commenting, all useful info! Keep riding and racking up the miles on your 350!
I’m at 2900 miles on mine. Including the SoCal BDR. No issues yet! I need to get out more. I’m planning on a NorCal BDR in September. We will see how that works out.
Nice work, racking up those miles! Glad to hear that you aren't having any issues. I hear ya, it is so hard to find time to ride amidst other stuff in life. My rides are usually snuck in places or last minute when no one will miss me too much. NorCal BDR would be a blast, hope you can do it!
Hey John, I've been a subscriber for a while I don't know how I missed this video just seeing it today. I have a 23 FE350S I have about 50 hours on it I'm a little heavier about 210. The suspension did not work for me I was on some fairly rough two track with my buddy behind me who is not a very skilled rider on my 890 adventure r and he was just about running me over and it was pretty gnarly 2 track. That prompted me to do the RaceTech gold valves with the mid valve conversion in proper springs for my weight. Wow that was a game changer I did the same setup based on watching your video BRP with the Scotts. Love that by the way Thank you for putting that video out. I agree 100% on the 350s abilities it is such a versatile machine plenty of power well for me at 60 years old and novice to intermediate rider. I can't believe you hit that snow and kept on trucking 🤣, that happened to me on a DR650 tugboat dumped it broke the handle bar riser off it was an interesting ride out to say the least. Great video thanks John
Very nice long-term review :) I find my 2017 steering very stable with no extra dampers - run it to over 80 mph on the highway with Motoz Tractionator GPS tires. I find the throttle annoyingly snatchy/twitchy though...
I’m looking at the KTM, Husqvarna, and Honda….Looking at the 300, 350, 450 and 500 in models….I want a plated bike that can do it all….recommendations please
1:49... That truck! 😍 I am finding that I run too much pavement. Frequently hear that the 350 is less vibey on the road. I got a heck of a deal on a FE500S so I recently installed a Warp9 Cush Drive hub/wheel. I'll see how it goes, one big experiment. lol
So I'm looking at getting my first dirt bike. I've been riding a really fast modded Surron for the last 6 months and I'm ready to make the move up to gas. My friend strongly recommends getting a plated enduro bike such as the FE 350S over a non-plated one. The question I have is whether or not the bike seems any less capable with the changes it has and the extra parts that make is street legal in Oregon (also where I live) as opposed to the similar model that is not street legal? My gut says just get the non-plated one and throw it in the truck and go, but being able to ride around the neighborhood legally and ride over to OHV trails on the bike itself sounds pretty cool. I also live in Oregon in the Beaverton area.
Hi Jesse! Thanks for watching! I love being able to ride out from my garage and then back home again as it does allow me to get away on quick hour or two jaunts when I wouldn't have time always to load up, ride, atc as that extends the ride to 4 to 6 hours. I would suggest thinking about how far away the riding is that you want to do to help you make the decision. If where you want to ride offroad is 30 to 40 minutes away, get a plated FE350s and bring a little extra fuel with you in a backpack. However, if where you want to ride is much further than that, then I would get a dirt bike, throw it in the back of a truck or trailer and ride! 😀 I have not found the FE350s to be much less capable that my KTM 300XC-W although the 300 is more stall resistant in offroad lugging situations. Hope this helps! Best wishes to you, let us all know what you end up with!
@@oregonmotojohn Appreciate the reply. I've never ridden a gas bike yet and need to learn how to operate the clutch, etc. I'm leaning towards the FE350S just because I think I'd probably get to ride it more often, but something about having a more "pure" dirt bike is appealing. I guess the real solution is to just get both like you. If you were going to end up with both eventually, which one would you get first?
@@JESSEverything Great question, I always got a plated bike first because I can ride it more frequently. But I did learn on a small Honda xr 80 dirt bike years ago.
Would you consider this a good bike for a beginner? Taking into account I live off grid surrounded by dirt roads but want the ability to drive into town or take it into the mountains and cover some asphalt too. Any advice is appreciated.
Hi John, thanks for the video. I have a 2021 FE350s. Do you still have the reeds in your air box & would you mind sharing the setting on your fuel controller. I have read that the computer is locked into a circuit on the low end and the fuel controller only helps in the upper range? I also read that when using the non restrictive end cap (I have the same one you do "BDSB") you have to up-grade the computer to avoid overheating & lean fuel conditions. Just needing some advice from a long term owner. Thanks again for all of your videos.
50-60 miles per tank is crazy low,. I have the same bike and can get 100 before the light comes on. That is mainly fire roads with a little single track mixed in. I live in the same area as you.
what counts is not displacement or the absolute power; it's the weight:power and/or weight:torque ratio. For that 350S, it's about 8 pounds per (dyno i.e. to the wheel) hp and about 13 pounds per (dyno) ft-lbs. That's more than strong! In contrast, a Husqvarna 701 Enduro weighs about 6 pounds per hp and 8 pounds per ft-lb.; not really that much different/stronger! And, try throwing a 701 around like that 350. Note: gears multiply torque; those numerically larger lower gear ratios provide more torque multiplication. Have fun working with and learning from the math ... and Enjoy it !

Awesome, just picked up a husky FE myself. Coming from a WR250R. Also a fellow Oregonian.

The chasis is so well balanced, I can see how a steering dampener isn't needed. I bet those tires run really smooth on the highway! Great feedback!
Great Review. Enjoyed the ride along
Thank you, glad to do it!
I have a 22 FE 350, added a 366 kit to it, SXF valve train and cams, twisted development/vortex ECU, really changed the bike for the better.

Hi, watched your video, re fender remount
I see you have no number plate light? Do you guys not need them in usa?
What part of Oregon do you live in?
Is it the speaker on the camera? The bike sounds like a scooter
I want one 😭
I hear banjos 😂

3000 miles ? Got 1900 hours and 25,000 miles on my 250xcw.
And not one video
@@coffeesutra nope when I'm not ridding it I'm cutting trail. No time for videos.
