On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

It might just be me but the way the Su-25 at 4:27 comes barreling out the clouds is just so damn cool.
The sound effects are astoundingly accurate and impressive, the dive from the Su-25 looks AND sounds exactly how we would experience in real life.

Outstanding. I love the flight physics explanation. Dogfighting is give and take. You exchange one thing for something else. Mistakes are costly-deadly for sure.

The Su-25 Carrying 580 kg of extra guns and ammunition does effect turnrate climprate speed and acceleration by the weight itself and the added drag. Would love to see a rematch without the SPUU 23 mm pods. Sure you need to make your shots count. I mean she carries a half Car during this fight!
Honestly a clean Frog should quite easily have its way with an A-10, I wonder if he weighed it down on purpose to drag the fight out.
Or maybe to give himself a usable gunsight because the one for the internal gun is horrible.

I havent flown the SU-25 in DCS for a while now but its gunsight is the same for the pods as for the 30mm and iam also sure there is an AA mode for the gun or at minimum a way to center the reticle... i think you only needed to switch of the laser rangefinder an go into LAO mode /Launch authorisation override.

I fly it quite regularly and it has either a gyro sight that bounces around constantly with stick input.
Or a static back up sight that doesn’t move, but the centre of it isn’t actually aligned with the gun.
When I saw the video title the first thing I thought of was Battle Field 2. I loved dogfighting the A10 against the Frogfoot.

Correction of GS:
at roughly 10:00 GS says "When he dumps his nose, it's because he has no energy left..."
What GS means is that he has no SPEED left, so he uses what energy he has (grav. potential) to turn into kinetic energy, ie - speed.
While he has no speed left, he still has energy, in the form of gravitational potential energy. If he were on the deck and flying at low velocity, THEN you could say he has no energy left. But as long as he still has altitude, then he has energy, regardless of his speed.
this match up is happens on War Thunder nearly every battle

The A-10 PILOT in the last sortie really hung in there until the last seconds he even shot at you hoping to bring you down I just thought about you the other day when you were in the flat spin and shooting hoping to bring down your opposition down and I really enjoy watching you flying and trying to teach us your peers advanced flight combat.

It's funny, you would expect the Frog to have the edge, being faster and lighter than the A-10. But I think it's the A-10's technological edge that does it.
Not necessarily technology per se, but design priorities. The A-10 has amazing low speed performance and can turn on a dime, which is a big plus in a gunfight.

In a just for fun dogfight, I would love to see Warthog vs Frogfoot (either version, for both fighters), only A2G weapons. No Fox-2 or guns until all other weapons have been deployed. Rockets are permitted.

Yes it’s a real thing, was basically put together by John Boyd during the Korea war.
Read his work on the OODA Loop.
A military thing, because as it was found in Vietnam if you run out of missiles or are inside of minimum missile range you still have your gun - and they are included in a fighters inventory.
@@GrowlingSidewinder I’d love to hear your thoughts on the whole controversy around John Boyd, the fighter mafia, etc. I’ve always felt pretty dubious about the claims that he completely changed warfare altogether by describing something as uncomplicated as OODA, etc. so when I saw the LazerPig video, it all kinda made sense to me, but it’d be interesting to see your perspective on all of that.

I like both the A10 and Su25, but the Frogfoot has a special place in my heart.
Also comparing the A10 and Su25 is like comparing a normal road truck and a military truck. Both are trucks, but both were made with different priorities and for different tasks.

Would be awesome if you could angle the guns downwards to get a higher angle of attack, so you dont need nose on to get the kill. Imagine youre in a flat scissor maneuver, and your opponent angles his guns down at you.

How about the A-10 vs an old WWII prop plane? The A-10 is slow and has a great turn radius, plus it's tough. It would eat up a whole bunch of those little WWII rounds... That'd be a good fight!

Another excellent video!. While I'm the last person to give you advise, the first notch of flaps on the SU25T gives you way more maneuverability. I believe they are called maneuver flaps....

nice Video. Is the change of elevation of the gunpods realy that fast? Looks very fast for me.
I am surprised you did not take him into a flat 2 circle once you got him down low; since as the Frogfoot is considerably faster you could have outrated him, even if your turning circle is wider. I doubt if he could have pulled lead long enough to get tone even if he felt you were extending, and he would have slowed the A-10 sufficiently for you to get to his 6 quicker.
Rate fight is not just about speed, it’s about energy retention. An F-5E will out rate a MiG-21, despite the fact it’s slower and has a lower T/W.
He said at the beginning he just didn’t know what had a better rate speed.

Is this procedure of only using fox-2’s when the bandit extends an actual real life practice to conserve missles? Or just a rule in this channel
no its not ONLY When they extend but in real life when you're in a merge you're stuck and you're stuck for this exact reason, if someone tries to extend out of the fight they will catch a fox2 in the ass. Extending is a nice way to reset your energy state and try to start the fight over again, something you can't do in real life as the other guy will fox2 you, so you're stuck in the merge until someone dies and therefore you must manage your energy well. this is what we are trying to "simulate" by having this "rule"
Hey GS the Su-25 in a ground mission. It would be nice to see you use it in that manner. And I’d like to see some more tilt-rotor missions. I watch every video you post. You and Casmo should fly some more tilt-rotor stuff
