This venue is one of the greatest Guitar playing in history, in my opinion.
YJM was the first to create the synergy between Electric Guitar, and an Orchestra.
Many more have tried after him, with no success.

When this album dropped in 1984 I was listening to it 24/7. I had some long long days learning a few of the songs. Never able to capture the songs entirely. He was just to fluent in his arpeggio`s. I got close and still do. I will say that after Rising Force he became too much singularly minded. He plays the Phrygian and harmonic minor scales in every song. And he cannot grasp the rock/ blues at all. He just does not have a bone in him with any groove or soul. It became redundant as he hammers you with full out speed attacks and arpeggios. And he is an asshole.
@@gib59er56 - Yes.. Yngwie likes Harmonic Minor, Phrygian, Diminished, and pedal notes because that's his thing, that's his style. His main influence technique wise comes from the violin, he likes that sound, that's why he plays the way he plays. There's nothing wrong with that.
Just for the record... Clapton, B.B King, EVH etc... have also played the same licks for 50 years and there is nothing wrong with that either. It all comes down to what you like to listen to. Yngwie has left his mark on the guitar world and no one can take it away from him, he's an amazing player that has inspired millions of guitarists around the world. There is something to be said of that.
Btw... Yngwie is a wicked Blues player. His bending and vibrato is second to none.

@@epic103 Yes...Paganinni was a huge influence of Yngwie. And you are 100 pct right as far as enjoyment. I have always said, Music is not a sport. Music is not meant to be a competition, but some act that way. Music is art and you should listen to what moves you. So, my only disagreement is that I just do not feel that he is in the top of influential players. But he sure made me try new things. So, really it is not any argument. I really just find him too single minded, and it gets boring for me. But you are different, and that is what makes it all the more good. I mean to say, everybody moves to a different beat.

Yngwie is so undervalued by a lot of musicians. They see just techniques but what I see first is A TON of emotions and feeling. He has a unique approach and sound, the guitar screams at every fucking note, he is something else
@@danteravenveren1278 Yeah, it's funny because he's actually a really personable guy, though maybe a little socially awkward. I think some of the things he's said, he would probably just say "That's just my opinion, alot of people like such-and-such, and that's cool." He's a very eclectic guy, and knows he has musical tastes that don't align with popular culture. I've also heard he can be hard to work with because he's very exacting and has an insane work ethic (though he certainly knows how to play hard too). That said, he knows good playing when he hears it, and anyone who was inspired by Paganini, J.S. Bach and Ritchie Blackmore and thinks Cozy Powell was the greatest drummer of all time knows his business.
Don't forget: he composed everything including every single instrument of that orchestra.

Yngwie always wanted to be a virtuoso like Paganini, but with an electric guitar. And he totally achieved that.
His music is deep into that classical period and built around harmonic minor in all possible ways.

You are absolutely right. Was trying back then in 1983 to play like that without having ever heard of Yngwie but i liked classical, flamenco arpegios, Swing, and Randy Rhoads, Uli Jon Roth...you know... I was 15 years old and i see his album rising force..i buy it and the moment i listen to the first song i say to my self...this is something only this guy can do... not that Uli or Randy are second class ... at least to me... to tell you the truth i like them more... but Yngwie's vibrato, sweeping, picking and mastering of the fretboard is superb.... also great compositions. Sometimes i wonder if it would be more nice to be able to compose such masterpieces even if you cant perform them that fast....composition is the other side of the coin...anyway.....best wishes..

Their brains can't handle the nuance of the auditory stimulus. If he played any other style like blues without the shred, he'd absolutely blow you away and after 16 bars be bored of it an go it's just not my thing...

I have no idea how people claim Yngwie plays with no soul.
It takes soul and dedication to push yourself to that level of playing in the first place.
While there are many reactors who stop the song in the middle and make comments, it's amazing that you listened to it without stopping until the end. Stopping a song in the middle is torture. 4:45 The moment when the song returns to its main theme is so moving that no matter how many times I listen to it, it gives me goosebumps. The joy of being able to share the same time and emotions as you.

Most of the great 80’s metal guitarists were classically trained. That reminds me. I’ve always loved when rock bands incorporate orchestration in their music. The Scorpions and UFO both did a lot of that.

Yngwie is probably the best at what he does blending the classical music with rock music throughout the mid 1980’s and into the late 1990’s he was the best guitarist out there in my opinion now moving forward till 2023 there are guitarist who can play but he paved the way and most will say he was an inspiration to thrm

Don't worry Sarah... He has made my eyes water many times. I've seen him do his neo-classical performances and neo-metal shows live several times. I never had a complaint. He's not just technically proficient, he's soulful. Some of my favorite songs of all-time are from him. He's been my all-time favorite guitarist since the 80s. When I was learning guitar, I had to put it down. Anything I did was no where close to him. If I had one complaint, it was that at a show once time, his guitar playing drowned out his lead singer at the time, Joe Lynn Turner. Perhaps it was the sound guy, maybe on purpose. Who knows. He's still my favorite.

Yngwie = master virtuoso. One of a kind. There are a lot of amazing guitar players still walking the earth, check out Satriani, Petrucci, vai, etc...
He is the upper echelon of guitar virtuosity and truly in a class by himself. His skills are mindblowing. Don't get me wrong they're are some truly magnificent players out there such as Paul Gilbert and Michael angelo Batio but they don't play like yngwie
The music of Yngiwe and it's impression on someone is just like Bach, it depends on the profoundness of ones own personal experiences. Yngiwe's music comes from extreme dedication and hardship, and those who have experienced either have the potential to experience the profoundness of his music. Sarah's reaction was one of the best things I have ever witnessed, as I was able to relive my introduction to Yngwie through her, which was so profound it sent me into a madness trying to just touch his greatness for many many years. I bought that cd I think back in the nineties when I was a teenager. I bought this because I was very much into Bach, well I guess I will always be, because J.S.Bach is simply one of the greatest musician to me alongside Beethoven, Jimmy Hendrix and Deep Purple/Richie Blackmore. This recording, I think it was with the Czech/ Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, is simply superb! It is a dream come true for a man that tries to bring together both worlds, the classical/baroque and the (post-) modern rock guitar. People argue and make fun of it, that he is a shredder, who plays the same scales over and over again without emotions but those people couldn’t understand Niccolò Paganini either. I mean, come on, Yngwie came up with an entire orchestral body of scores of classical/baroque music, that is just beautiful and on top of it a solo guitar, that is the pinnacle of expression. And that is what it is, a suite for electric solo guitar in a classical/baroque context but more evolved. Yes, he is utilising the repertoire that could be interpreted as stylistically narrow, but isn’t that something that defines a genre, if you say that about classical music, the most expressing open music, what would you say about the blues or modern pop music? People say that about Alan Holdsworth too, just in a different genre, without understanding him at all and what he is doing, this happens to Yngwie too. Namely, to much inconsistent notes lined up without any meaning, and that is simply wrong! Can i listen to both all the time? No, because it’s demanding and exhausting because of the sheer complexity, but in the same breath it’s beautiful. Every one of those many notes has a place and a meaning and just because people cannot comprehend it, it is not bad. If you cannot comprehend it, then leave it, listen to something you can digest but don’t drag it into dirt, end of the story!

I got to see Yngwie play at a nightclub in 1996. Sure, there are guitarists who can play way faster and who are even more skilled, but he does what he does very well. Most of Yngwie's recordings are songs. One of the best singers he's had was Jeff Scott Soto. Check out *Jeff Scott Soto - "Don't Let It End" ft. Dino Jelusick (Yngwie Malmsteen cover) - Official Video* It's not Yngwie playing it in the video, but it was he who originally played and recorded it.
