Hello Mrs MWC i have XWife still good friends she doesn't understand my addiction to watches thinks it's Big waste of money, I don't understand why so many purse & shoe's .
To me your wife's blunt comments have always been the highlight of your show. She's always so unfailingly spot on, she should definitely have her own channel - with her verbally abusing watches from the off.
The mix between the passionate thoughts of a watch enthusiast and the honest and dry comments of your wife is hilarious! Cheers and respect to that really cool wife for taking part in this project!
"What the wife said" is easily my favourite section in what is just as easily one of my favourite watch channels... Fun fun fun watch madness!! 🥰 Thanks for all the great content 🙏🏼
Absolutely bloody awesome. Love that transformer watch too. Keep up the good work Russ, looking forward to catching up with you soon. Chin chin fratello 🥂😎 T.
My boys love the "What the Wife Said" segment of your channel! They still ask to see the Skmei video and laugh every time! I will probably get that watch for Christmas but, I will cherish the memories of seeing them laugh everytime I look at it! 👍 🖖🇺🇦🙏
Fantastic, love your wife’s comments. Her opinions are valuable, and a reality check for watch ‘enthusiasts’. The design ethos of many watches don’t translate to real world aesthetics. Really appreciate her taking the time. Thanks.
Keep these videos coming! Probably one of the top three best watch youtubers out there definitely. Absolute joy to hear reviews from non-watch people as well, I started hanging out with and asking non-watch people about watches, and so far has proven to be much more insightful and enjoyable.
Your wife's reactions are my favorite (tell her she's brilliant), and I loved the brief look at each of your favorites, followed by what she said (I like you reading the notes vs. forcing her to be on audio or video). I like the Arnie a lot for what it means/represents (and my buddy with one keeps telling me I need one), but it's definitely no beauty queen. That's okay, not all watches need to be. That Vertex is a beauty, and the Aqua Lion is temping. Those 3-D lumed numerals are dreamy. This was the perfect execution of a video. I recently showed my wife my watches for consideration for my big milestone birthday. The reaction was interesting. She didn't even have a comment on the Speedy Pro moon watch, and just sort of blankly stared even with the explanation. She asked questions about the Speedy '57 (blue), sneered at the blue Pelagos (that hurt), didn't even say a word at the new blue Breitling Super Ocean on bracelet, no real response to the BB58 black or blue, said I would have to grow a mustache for the BB S&G, Ranger was a bit boring to her, not much reaction to the BB Pro, and the Rolex Explorer II was pretty much shock over the price. Well, she was shocked overall at the costs because she's not a watch person. In the end, she had the most visceral/positive reaction to the BB GMT Pepsi (one of my top few anyway). The Omega Railmaster (black/gray dial), and Grand Seiko SBGE285 "Mist Flake" rounded out her top 3. When I told her the cost of the SBGE285, she said I might as well get a Rolex if I'm going to spend that much. Maybe that was permission? MWC, what does your wife think of the current black or polar Explorer II? That didn't make my wife's top 3, but I'm curious what yours thinks. Is it also an old man's watch?
Another tip-top video, Russ! I quite like your wife's reaction segments, whether she likes or dislikes them. She seems a keeper for sure. I appreciate you and your channel offerings. You are a gem of great value. Onwards and Upwards, my friend. Cheers!🙂👍
6:25 You mentioned how the Casio CA 53 reminded you of your happy childhood. After giving it some thought, I have to say that I couldn't agree with you more. I think that's how I got into watch collecting in general. Vintage (or vintage-esque) Casio watches reminded me of a great childhood with fantastic parents that loved & encouraged me in whatever I did. Love your content & don't ever stop doing what you do! Cheers!
Another fantastic show MWC! Really enjoyed this tour around your watch box and it’s always fun to hear Mrs MWC’s thoughts 😂 It is actually really interesting to get an outside perspective on a watch, it’s so easy for us to get caught up in the minutiae of a particular watch we can’t see the wood for the trees 😂
So good. My wife was indifferent to watches some 25 years ago but is now well informed and hankers for a reverso. She also never liked my Explorer 39. She said it was “just so boring”. It was like a knife through the heart😩. I Love your top ten mostly….. I think im going to go for the blue dial Jlc Polaris. Im besotted with it!
What the wife said is one of the best parts of your shows mate and it’s one of your USP! A whole episode on her was well worth it. I should try it with mine but it would be too abusive to pulblish!
This brings back memories when I was first getting into watches many years ago. Me and the now former missus would pop into town and into the jewellers where she would look at rings and things and I'd be looking at the cheaper end watches (money was tight then, I guess it is now as well). I'd pick one and show her and usually I'd get the "I don't like it, but if you want it it's up to you", we'd walk out with (yet) another ring or something and no watch. But now if I like a watch and can justify it I just might get it after all it's me who'll be paying for it and wearing it. Top video TMWC.
Hi I am new to watch collecting and my wife was not impressed 😮 I followed your guide to the letter on how to get approval from the wife ……. It bloody worked Ordered my 1st Squale 600 matic today ❤❤❤ Big thanks from Liverpool
If you have the brown leather strap tudor makes for the bb58, try it on the willard. Because of how the lug holes are positioned, that watch needs a thicker/more bolstered strap. The tudor strap works incredibly.
Loved this vid mate, your wife sounds just like mine! Brutal but so honest. I like your collection too, very good taste and your love for military style watches is apparent. CWC rocks man!
Sounds like your wife is a big fan of militaristic field watches. Should find one of those one day...but I'm probably gonna save up for a chronograph first, since I already got a diver (Hydroconquest 39mm)
Love the show, and must say your wife’s comments are the best part. So relieved she likes the Vertex M100 as that is also the highlight of my collection.
How lovely to see you have several watches in your collection that are also my favourite watches. Also great to hear your wife's take on your choices. The squished bug Seiko is also a favourite. Squale watches are amazing, and I love the mesh bracelet. Sinn makes some wonderful watches, although getting up there in price, but always good for us eternal boys.😂 I am very relieved to see you have the 'Arnie'. Nothing much more to say about the 'Arnie' other than brilliant. No Rolex in my collection, yet. 😂 Thank you for the introduction to Vertex watches. I will have to look into them, as well as the CWC watches. Thank you very much for sharing your collection with us all. Your energy, time and humour are all very much appreciated, Sir, along with your wife's important input.
Totally agree with your wife's remarks on the Tissot and Rolex at the start. As a new comer to the world of watches, I've often been surprised by the gaudy designs and colours that are considered classics in this space
Awesome video, as usual. I had a massive flash back to the transformer watch, as I had one when I was a whipper snapper. Where did your pal get it from?! I’m on to eBay now!
I really love dive watches, but the vertex is the highlight of your top ten. After I bought my Tudor Ranger I found a new love in this kind of simple but very functional watches.
That transformer watch🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I was also given a Casio calculator watch for my birthday when I first started secondary school wayyy back in 1982! It was the first digital watch I had that didn't break down 😂
Great show as per usual. Your wife's reactions are the best 😂 I can see why the Vertex is a favourite, the chunky lumed numerals are awesome! I gotta go watch that video now! :)
That was nice. I use my wife for watch choice confirmation as well. Now we share a few watches. A Direnzo Mondial purple dial and a Calvin Klein matt blue dial Swiss automatic. It's fun to share an appreciation of time pieces. Your videos are much my style.
I still have a Casio 306 AQ-307 that was gifted to me in 1992 for being a junior groomsman in a wedding. Still looks good and still works. I’m gonna give it to my son when he gets old enough. Can’t knock the Casios!
mannnnn, this is a superb watch collection. There's a huge difference between a collection like this and one that is just made of the rarest, most luxurious watches made (boring). This is very interesting. Great video.
Beautiful timepieces. On the top of the heap for me,my Hamilton Interstellar Pilot Day Date Cooper! Yes, sometimes we need to hear the straight dope from our better halves!
Completely agree about the Squale. A Great car looks like it is going 200mph standing still. The Squale looks like it's emerging from the crystal waters of the Caribbean when sitting on a table. Great vid, thanks! 👍
Russell, thank you so much - really enjoying your reviews, love the ‘super’, fast talking and the small hand 🤚makes me laugh every time. Just wondered - what would you collect if it wasn’t watches? Thanks again.
Well done Russ, cracking rundown, I think your Explorer ( I'm generally not a Rolex bloke but do like these) and your CWC Navy and BB58 would be my choices from your collection. Great video, should have been voiced by the wife though! 😁👍
Divers always seem to be the best choices. The rotating bezel helps me daily with any tasks. Very useful memory aid. Wearing a Helm Miyako on their insane rubber strap right now and couldnt be happier.
It’s so funny! My wife is the total opposite; she likes G-Shocks, even has one herself and her favourite out of my collection is the Speedy Broad Arrow:)
It looks like a watch that has been squished. hahaha! love this. my wife didn't understand my watch obsession until I bought her a cartier. now she's into it. funny how that works.
On the person who critiqued the air king by saying "it looks like a car speedometer " was spot on but bc that's exactly what the design is. Sooooo yea, it is.
I totally understand about the Vertex. I have the Heritage from Timor, and having a re-release of an original D12 watch, with the 'right' name on dial connects me to the past and means a lot to me. My wife doesnt like it though.... she prefers my divers.
She has great taste the Vertex is my No1 choice too. Great collection and right up my street, 3 handers nothing too complex and easy to read. Nail on head hit HARD. Bingo even subscribed, perhaps I’m mad too. 🤪
Noice collection.. so far I have the SIinn U1 in blue. Grand Seiko snowflake, Hamilton khaki auto, and a Chrono suiss opus X in gold. My wife doesn’t like or understand why or how much I spent but it’s okay because she’s really got no idea what my gun collection is worth. It’s about 15:1.
the squale is gorgeous, theres no getting away from that, i like the cwc a lot too because the dial is a lot like the omega seamaster 2254 which is probably my favourite watch of all time
I actually have a knock-off (excuse me, "homage" *cough*) of that calculator watch lying around somewhere. Got it when I was a school kid and it no longer works but looks exactly like that casio.
Hi Russ, Love your channel and content. 🙌🏾 This is a bit off topic, but I am a bit of a Goldilocks individual. I love me some traditional watches, but I find myself looking at fitness/health/step tracking stuff a lot lately. Even own a Garmin Venu 2 next to my other traditional watches. But when I wear either I miss the other. So frustrating. Any ideas how to bridge the gap without going for subscription stuff like some of the bands or rings that I've seen?
you ever had any issues with your sellita sw200 movement?.. mines just started playing up, I havent over wound it or anything, but it's getting the dreadded crunch when winding..yesterday the winder jammed completely untill it'd "ran flat" and it lets me wind again.. think it's one of the gears needs replacing.. hopefully a simple job anyways.
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I just went and wound it a little there..it's screwed lol.. think one of the winding gears have shorn off some of its teeth..not a happy chappie.. it's still under warranty though, better give them a moody email or 10!..grrr.
Great collection…that Squale is beautiful, are they Italian, coz that’s the plural word for sharks 🦈 and the CWC at the end is such a head turner. Surprised out of all those you don’t have dress watch on a leather strap? Guessing you wear the Rolex for smart occasions or the Vertex on a leather? I had that transformer Casio as a kid. You only just made me realise 😱 Love the channel. Ps the wife comments crack me up, inspired. Even if she isn’t real. 😉
Hope I’ve not offended too many people and you enjoyed my comments! 💁🏼♀️
I’m not offended in the slightest (even though I’m a big 5610 fan 😊). Always enjoy your videos and analysis/perspectives!
I think you have very good taste and you make many valid and succinct comments.
Hello Mrs MWC i have XWife still good friends she doesn't understand my addiction to watches thinks it's Big waste of money, I don't understand why so many purse & shoe's .

Loved seeing your wife's reaction and getting to know your favs. Authentic, fun and interesting stuff.

Thanks Richard! He’s 41, he got it when he was 5! God knows where it was bought from;)
I really love dive watches, but the vertex is the highlight of your top ten. After I bought my Tudor Ranger I found a new love in this kind of simple but very functional watches.
JP thanks for watching my friend!!
I feel you could switch one diver for a nice dress watch. And the collection would be perfect.
Yay to Mrs MWC. Absolutely great choice with the Vertex. Great collection
Thanks for watching!!!!!
Wow, your wife knows her stuff, especially regarding the rolex. She's wonderful!
Thank you my friend! She’s certainly special to me!!;)
Your wife is a woman of great taste. Every of her comments are spot on !
Absolutely
That vertex in the opening minute looked kinda cool. Never heard of them before. Buy the wife some flowers!
Always!;)
'Strapaholic' - I think I like this term over 'strap monster'.
Love the Hubby/Wifey perspective!
Thank you my friend!!!
Brilliant review of your Watches Russ. I liked them all and am looking to add a Seiko to my collection.
Thanks Big T!!! Do it and you’ll never stop!!;)
Very entertaining video. TBH I love them all for different reasons. Particularly like the Vertex. This has really cheered me up watching this. ❤
That transformer watch🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was also given a Casio calculator watch for my birthday when I first started secondary school wayyy back in 1982! It was the first digital watch I had that didn't break down 😂

Mark there are plenty of us my friend!! Welcome aboard!
Looking forward to Mrs MWC's views 👍😊
Noice collection..
so far I have the SIinn U1 in blue. Grand Seiko snowflake, Hamilton khaki auto, and a Chrono suiss opus X in gold. My wife doesn’t like or understand why or how much I spent but it’s okay because she’s really got no idea what my gun collection is worth. It’s about 15:1.
Hahahahahahaha noice!!!
the squale is gorgeous, theres no getting away from that, i like the cwc a lot too because the dial is a lot like the omega seamaster 2254 which is probably my favourite watch of all time
I actually have a knock-off (excuse me, "homage" *cough*) of that calculator watch lying around somewhere. Got it when I was a school kid and it no longer works but looks exactly like that casio.
That’s a knock off priceless piece then my friend!
The Vertex M100. Yes! Hadn't seen it before. Your wife is right.
I remember those Transformers watches. It's called a "Takara Kronoform" and it's awesome! I had a gold one.
Hi Russ,
Love your channel and content. 🙌🏾
This is a bit off topic, but I am a bit of a Goldilocks individual.
No not yet!!!:] Always been fine for me!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I just went and wound it a little there..it's screwed lol.. think one of the winding gears have shorn off some of its teeth..not a happy chappie.. it's still under warranty though, better give them a moody email or 10!..grrr.
Loved this review. Great to get a straightforward no nonsense view on it. Gave me a giggle this morning.
That Sinn U50 takes the cake 🔥
Very entertaining, caught myself cheering every time a watch was validated by Mrs MWC 😅
Now, I am going to go hide and cry after that GW M5610 comment
Thank you my friend! I know that was hard to take!!
You're a Brave Man, Russ🤭🤭🤭. Great job, as always! 👏👏👏
Cheers Mario!
Pretty much spot on reviews by the wife to be honest. The comments on the Air-King was like reading my mind 😄
