Lol, also we shouldn't forget that 99% of people don't care about our 80-hour power reserves, or spring drives, or beautifully designed movements, so you should only buy the watches that make you happier. But it still remains one of the best parts of the show, as we're here not only for the reviews, but for entertainment as well!

My wife saw me wearing my Casio F91W and felt compelled to tell me how much she dislikes it. She never mentions any of my watches as I'm wearing them, but that one just flipped a switch in her head. She said it "looks like a $10 cheapo from Wal-Mart," all of which was 100% true, as I bought it for about $10 from Wal-Mart. I tried to clue her in to the "historical" importance of this watch, but she just rolled her eyes. "It's so small on you it looks like you stole some kid's watch." All fair points, but still...
The Grand Seiko is on a different level. Nice ! Flip the coin, maybe you could do the wifes' shoes or handbags ????? Question is are you brave enough !!!!!

I agree with your wife on many of her opinions, especially not liking the Islander logo. Yes, it is a logo of a watch on a watch. Why? We know it's a watch, already. I would have three Islanders in my collection if it were't for the stupid logo. I like the watches but not the logo, Marc.
I'm divorced since over a year now, unfortunately. My wife never did care much for my interest in watches. It did rub off just a little bit, since I was allowed to gift her a couple of them. I did often ask her about my purchases, and showed them to her. She rarely paid them any interest and pretty much just shrugged. She wasn't too happy about the cost of them, either.

If you’re thinking of buying the Hamilton, I’d advise you to look at the CWC Mellor 72, instead. The CWC is more authentic and cheaper. A Truly brilliant daily-wear watch.
Another great collection Russ. I used to have an original 1970s Hamilton (why did I ever sell it???). They were £10 in Exchange & Mart back in the day. The only fly in the ointment of your collection is the Fortis. If I was you I'd definitely sell it... to me 😉

That's what we call an honest review. However, Casio should be got a better response. A look or a movement or a brand history could be cool but in the end a better watch is one that tells time better.
That Grand Seiko is my next Grand Seiko, though with a blue dial. I also like my full metal square a lot. Usually, your wife’s opinions are spot on, today was a bit off.

GS usually tops every group review for me but I’m torn now because that Fortis is a special speciality with extra specialism. On the other hand, the steel Casio just looks wrong. I thought this when I first saw them but this just confirmed it for me; they look like uber-shiny plastic. Or maybe I’m just programmed to see that because plastic is a G’s natural colour.
Good point!! It goes against everything really that a G-SHOCK was built for. A grade 5 titanium brushed all over case and bracelet that’s the way to go but would be way too much dollar!!
She really has great taste, having picked out the Fortis and Hamilton, which are great. She also appreciated the GS SBGN003, which shows great taste, and I was holding my breath, because I‘m the proud owner of a SBGN005!
