Well made video with very good camera coverage and non-intrusive, well themed background music. I enjoyed your solo playthrough, taught me enough that I ordered the game. Cheers.
Thanks. Do you have any requests? I have some horror games and a few dungeon crawls. All the Zombicides except Invader and Marvel, Mansions of Madness, Nemesis and Nemesis: Lockdown, Lost Continent, Return to Dark Tower, Altar Quest, Dungeon Universalis, Sword and Sorcery, Gloom/Frosthaven (though I figure they'll be well covered by others). Something else?
@Old Man Yelling at Cardboard I'd say play what you find most interesting and entertaining. The Thing and FG you've got covered already, but for a different idea, Nemesis could be cool.
@@ExissM I'm thinking of Zombicide Night of the Living Dead with my heavy house rules next. But first, I still have 3 Final Girls to upload. After those, I'll have to take a look at Nemesis. I also have ISS Vanguard; though Rob's Gaming Table is doing a good job going through that.
Childs is in a KS exclusive box. Which is crazy and disappointing. That and the rulebook are the two biggest negatives to this game, IMO. Luckily for me, I have the KS box.
@@OldManYellingAtCardboard yea the rulebook is incredibly confusing and doesn't answer all the questions I have very easily. Exactly what brought me here lol
Thank you. They came in the core box with the KS edition. I figured they were probably in the retail as well since they were in the core box, but I guess not. The KS version had cardboard and plastic ones.
Hey there ! Cool video, thanx a lot for sharing. Did my first solo attempt today, the game seems great but as you said, the rulebook doesn't help as it should. Will keep trying to master this, and your job helps A LOT. By the way, did you get any answer about that dog encounter contaminating one of the guy in the warehouse ? What's should happen to the dog afterwards ? Cheers from France
Hi there mate, is this game manufactured with a solo player rulebook included by any chance? I've recently got into solo board gaming and The Thing is my favourite film ever, if I can align those two worlds I'll be a very happy man.
The solo rules are at the end of the official rulebook. But they only give rules that are different to the main rules, which is kind of confusing because it can sometimes be difficult to figure out if a rule from the main section is to be used solo. Do you play Final Girl? The new series 2 games has a Thing rip-off called The Organism.
1. Does being on green space affect suspicion checks in encounters in 1-3 player games? Not clear from rulebooks. 2. What happens if thing gets placed in room with 2 characters and one has a Molotov? FAQ says there is no encounter (so thing runs away and characters continue doing their actions?) Some rulebooks say “lay down the character with Molotov, they lose their action, thing runs away. What happens to the second character in the room that has no Molotov? Does it also lay down with no action? 3. We completely ignored food in 2 player game as the penalty (only 2 item cards allowed per character) was not that bad. Was this correct? Or, were we supposed to use only 2 action dice when taking actions after food was depleted?
All I can tell you is how I play. I've read so many variations of the rules and answers from the designers, and I think they've even changed stuff over time. I'm not really sure about a lot of stuff, and the 1-3 player rules aren't clear on which rules to use from the main rules. 1) I play it like the 4-8 rules the disc on green would move up, but not the other person. 2) If the character chooses to use the molotov it is discarded, the alien loses one strength, the character is laid down, losing his action, the alien runs away. The other character can still take an action. 3) The only penalty for running out of food is rolling 2 action dice instead of 3.
I'd have to watch again to know for sure; but skimming through it, it looks like I forgot to remove food on a turn but then realized it and removed 8 food. I don't know whether I missed another turn, I'd have to watch again.

Thank you. Final Girl has a The Thing inspired expansion if you're looking for solo Thing games.
Excellent thanks for mentioning it! I just ordered the core box and Final Girl: Panic at Station 2891 as well. @@OldManYellingAtCardboard
Cool content, man, I watched the whole thing. Neat to see solo playthroughs of stuff like this and Final Girl on TH-cam.

You watched the whole “thing” lol.
it's such a bummer they didnt make playing Childs an option! Thanks for making this.

@@KaelWritThere's a TH-camr who made a really really good reference sheet.
Great video and helping me sort theough some of the messy rukebook. Was curious where you got the alien plastic disc tokens?

I couldn't find anything, but if anyone knows, I'd love to hear. I assume the dog is not assimilated and remains in the game as a day.

I skipped forward 1h and see that you still have only four units of food used. How come?

Too many mistakes, locations, rules etc, its unwatchable sorry, u still got a comment for the effort 😅
What are the mistakes? Keep in mind the rulebook is particularly bad, so a lot is up for debate.
