I worked on the full-sized Hawk T1a for two tours in the RAF, and it was an awesome little jet. The only reason the RAF retired the airframe was because the avionics were from the 70's, but all the QFI's who flew the Hawk that I spoke to loved it.
I chopped the foam in mine 1.25 inches past the factory rear of the battery tray. such an amazing flyer with a rearward CG. wheelies on touch and goes for days!
My 80mm FMS BAE Hawk flies great. It's way lighter than the V2 90mm Freewing T-45 Goshawk. I generally use a CNHL 4000 in mine, but sometimes I use a 5000. It drops some in inverted flight, but I don't have the battery all the way back. Most EDF's tend to be nose heavy. The red paint scheme makes it much easier to see than the typical low-viz grey military schemes.
One more note,it helps great for a perfect CG,the nose gear rides up high on all touch n go’s or for the perfect landing using the rudder to steer it down the runway. Enjoy and have fun! 🎉
If you want to unleash the FMS 80mm Bae-Hawk,give this a try,the newest Freewing 12 blade 2150kv setup drops right in for the perfect fit with zero modification,it now has the thrust to do great things it couldn’t do before, add the SMC pack and your more than good to go,have fun and fly safe as always!
One thing I notice, this bird doesn't like to stay inverted for too long before tipping, unlike the Avanti 80mm that doesn't care what side is up or down.
@@TwoBrosRC My bad description/explanation. When you invert the BAE does it want to right itself or want to roll, similar to the Freewing A-4 E/F Skyhawk 80mm can be tricky keeping it inverted?
I've always wanted one of these but the battery/cg issue keeps me from getting it. I would want to fly 5000's in it and it seems like you already can't get a much smaller battery far enough back. I wish this weren't the case. It doesn't seem to love the high alpha, getting some quick wing wobble, but not every jet needs to be a Alpha beast. Awesome flying and video as always!
David, I’ve flown mine exclusively on 6s 5000’s. Until this video I wouldn’t think anything under 4000 would give you any flight time. Because of Jon, I’ve got the AR-8360T receiver in everything these days, but it’s in the same place the Reflex used to be. A couple weeks ago I had the Viper90, Futura v3, the FMS big a-10 and the FMS Bae Hawk. That’s what I would call the BEST, stress-free day ever. The Bae Hawk super solid in every category and it’s sneaky fast.
I’ve wanted this plane for several months now but when I was ready to pull the trigger they weren’t in stock and then xfly had preorders for the 80mm t7a and really like the looks of that. Just not sure which way to go and there really aren’t many reviews on the xfly. Any chance you’ll have one to review?
The 80mm T-7A is something we'd like to fly, but buying it out of pocket just to review it isn't likely happening anytime soon. Not unless X-Fly decides to work with us.
I stalled mine inverted in a turn and it went into a flat spin and would not recover .I like to fly it with the CG pretty far aft .Not much damage all ready fixed and flying .

This thing has been on back order for like 6 months?! Damn it. Thanks for another great video Jon.
I love how I already know the mod is going to be pushing the lipo as far back as possible before watching the video lol.

Loved that first wheelie touch and go ! Definitely needed this CG 🎉🥰
Right over the main wheels is the sweet spot.
@@TwoBrosRC oh yeaaaaah ⚖️
Incredible flying my man!
Appreciate it!
Learnt how to fly edf with this jet. Such a user friendly jet!
Nice flying.

More low fast passes please with the jets please!
Unless you haven't been around long, Mr. Jon Holmes will try to Aplha fly an SR-71!

We're keeping it stock with a tailwheel.

Tipping? You mean stalling? We didn't notice any tendency toward stalls that wouldn't already be explained by aggressive angles of attack.

How does it fly on 6000s? I use exclusively 6S 6000s and my Avanti 80mm handles it like a charm.
Won't lie I had to check the price after all those low knife edges. What a plane!
It's insanely good for the price!

Have you guys seen the B1-B Lancer that is coming from Banana Hobby soon? I hope you play with that on the channel.
We probably won't unless X-fly sends it to us to review for them.
@@TwoBrosRC business is business, but it sure looks like one of the best jets so far. Definitely needs a payload bay, though.
Inspiring stuff.
Can you please measure that balance point and let me know? I’d love to try it 😈
Nope - just balance it over the main wheels and you'll have the CG we use.
Thank you 😊
Can I use a 5000 6s?
Sure, but it'll fly a lot heavier and will require more effort to land well.
@@TwoBrosRC is that from your experience or what you figure?

Happy to hear it's easily fixed!
to tail heavy now you can see the way it left the ground not scale
