They failed back then for the same reasons they'll fail again shortly, range anxiety and charging speed. And we've added the new danger of supercharged fire risk with the new batteries.
Sounds like a nice place to be at the moment. We have back in NZ for the summer here, then heading back to the US in April to drive up to Alaska and the Arctic Ocean.

I was surprised they had electric there. It's funny how things tend to go around in circles.
Do we have any truck stops in NZ where we can sleep over like that one? Amazing!
There might be, but we've always found there are plenty of freedom camping spots in NZ, so never needed to look.
No big deal just another truck stop.
It was exciting to us as we’d never seen a truck stop like it.
