We had a good season on the ice I had three broken springs, frozen dip stick and 3 frost bitten fingers. Hank had a good season too, only skidded two tires off on his trailer. See you next year!
Those Freightshaker cabovers ruled the roads back in the 70's! Nice to see one working these days...
Some of the harshest conditions in the world and yet these old pre emission trucks are running fine. Go buy a 2023 Pete in the lower 48 and you’ll be lucky to put 50k miles on it before it goes to the shop.

Idk I've been driving my 2018 Volvo daycab for 5 years now only had a coolant hose blowout within the 5 years... Most of these trucks in this video I'm sure are on their second or third engine or several times overhauled

@@flyboy8364we have a 95 model with 4 million miles on the same block! Im sure you one of a fee lucky ones! But go up here and lets see what happens! We have a 82/85/99 all mlions of miles snd still running strong! Emmissions Trucks will not have the same lifespan

it's always good to see a cabover get the job done u guys r amazing talented personnel
american cabovers are outdated. the cab is directly bolted on (no air suspension on the axles, and no air suspension between the chassis and the cab), also the cab sits directly on the front wheel, so less space and worse ride. In a european cabover you have a significant amount of cab space further front of the front wheel, and the steps are on in before front wheel, not behind it. american cabovers have no space, rides like a carriage, outdated controls, no air suspernsion, bolted on cab, and even look at the steering wheel, it is horizontal, because you have nowhere to put the rack, whereas a european semi have adjustment all over the cab you can ride them like a car. they are more advanced.

@@zoltanv7289 20+ year old freightliner argosy COE is still way more comfy than any european truck. Not even gonna mention international 9800 and KW K100. There is no bed space in european truck.

Not to mention that you have to drive super slow on the ice. Otherwise, you'll break through due to the pressure waves under the truck.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Oh how I miss Ice Road Truckers! I loved watching it…all the good, bad, ugly, drama & routines. How does that cabover work on the road?! Did it need much to get it ready & safe? Cabovers Rule!! I come from a trucking family…dad started driving a truck in the 1930s & grew his company through the years. I started driving when I was 6 years old in an old REO wrecker. I’ve loved trucks all my life. Did these trucks split up at some point. You imply it, but not for sure. I can remember a couple of drivers on that road talked about TEAMWORK & that you never leave a driver behind. I SO agreed with those attitudes! Then you get the lone wolf who thinks only about themselves. Love the Pete & Freightliner! Yes, I do own 3 cabovers…Ford CL9000, GMC Crackerbox & IH 9600 & then some. It still runs in my family. Well, my friends, thanks for the wonderful video & God Bless all involved in the video. Good drone work as well! 🥰🥰✌️
Not many cabovers left in service nowadays. Far more enjoyable than the "History" channel!

The freightliner cabover brings back some memories. I lived in a 1984 international cabover for 2 years. If you ever drove one you'd know just how miserable it was. My 2nd truck was a long nose 1985 conventional kenworth with no power steering and a walk in sleeper
( largecar to the old hands that know ). Sooo much better
I'm seeing the love the cabover is getting in the comments, and I just don't get it - maybe they've never had to live with one! LOL

Use to watch this show all the time while growing up on my small horse farm, Miss Lisa & Darrell Ward (R.I.P 2016) all the ppl who put the lives on the line just so they could get there food and supply's. They should bring this show back but to Netflix for something..

I say every trip the truck drivers make is a test drive on hard conditions of the ice roads.the trucks are relly powerful..god bless them.have safe drive.tamilnadu.india.
Proper trucking as it is tv series never had two trailers, recon Lisa could handle it !!
The 1st season had a few doubles, mainly tankers & flatbeds.
I once drove a Toyota pickup truck across a lake in Michigan, there were a lot of activity on the lake that day it was freezing cold out.

That Gillam road is not too bad, Deer Lake Ontario is a pretty rough ride.

I’d say with my experience of driving on snow & ice, though

I’d say some long hours, very bumpy ride & concentration required to keep moving & safe must be exhausting.
I worked with a guy from UK who went to USA for two years driving long haul up North & he told me he’d never experienced anything like it before even though he’d done Middle East & Scandinavian driving before.
He laughed saying some older drivers told him ! He was lucky because winters were milder 🤣

so it's cool they keep these old 80's trucks rollin but damn, havin a 70" condo is soo much nicer than crawlin over a dog house and fightin to get your pants on and off while layin down ,just for example , bless their lil ole hearts for puttin up with it
Took many great 3 hour naps just passed out on the doghouse, pillows on the passenger seat. Pants on!
i've had trucks from the 70's to the 2000's , including cabovers (had one single skrew with no air ride, yeesh) and bein that i lived in the thangs (no rent or mortgage) i'd take my freightshaker classic with the 70 inch condo and air ride and air cab over any of them but that's me @@fatlarry1184
