The jump in the evolution of gaming was massive for me I remember, Pong console man haha, then onto the good old Spectrum for 10 yrs, next the amazing Amiga 500, which was a massive change for me and my bro at the time, then finally onto my brothers first PC, like wow, so about 15 years of big changes in gaming history just there 😮 Mad for it, some might say Mr Gerth 😉 😂 I always fancied a Atari ST too bud 👍 Glad ya liked it mate, and stay sexy pal ✌️ 😊

Enjoyed this mate - had a similar journey (though it was C64 to Amiga). I did go Amiga to PC, but I also had a second hand Super Nintendo around the same time, because I'd played Super Mario World with a mate and needed it hahaha. @retrotap Hello mate, I could've easily gone straight to the 64 as I've played a lot of games at my cousins house back in the 80s, but I couldn't part with my Spectrum and held on till the end of it's run. The Amiga was a lovely surprise, we were stunned by the amazing graphics, sound and especially the music, oh wow at the time. 👍 So the PC was next, and I still think it's great the amount games to download now, its madness. I suppose those louts and fools were kids at one point, some people just never grow out of bad habits! Regarding the Speccy being a computer, very true - I never had the impulse to try coding on computers, which I regret a bit (seems a waste not to take advantage of that potential) but one hears of loads of developers who got started experimenting with the 8 bit computers and went on to make commercial hits in the 90s and 2000s.

Hey, Stew. I had a ZX81 in 82, Spectrum 48K in 83, C64 in 1985, Spectrum 128K toastrack in 1986, Atari 520STFM in 1987, Amiga A500 in 1988, Sega Megadrive 1990(?) and a Dan 486DX33 PC in 1992. Most were sold on to upgrade to the next machine. I remember Thief - great stealth game! Water arrows to quench out torches, slow sneaking to get past guards - and mention of a "Lord Julian" (me!). I bought it again off Good Old Games a few years ago, but it's a reet buggah and refuses to work on modern Windows. I'm playing Far Cry 2 again atm. No annoying HUD and complete freedom to play how you want. 😁👍
I must try out Thief again mate, it's certainly a class franchise, loved the 2nd game. You had so many computers etc back in day bud 😂 Far Cry 2 is mint, what a fantastic looking game too of Africa, love the first 3 Far Crys, not played the rest though, are they any good mate? I started work in '86, so from the STFM onwards they got a bit easier to afford. What can I say - the grass is always greener! I would've liked an Oric 1 and Amstrad CPC 6128 as well! I never got on with Far Cry 3, 4 and 5. Made for consoles, with annoying waypoints and no QuickSave. With my health issues and limited keyboard time they were unplayable. A bit too much full-on Rambo and not enough sneaky-beaky cunning planning and role-playing. It's a pity Ubisoft Montreal never built on the Dunia engine. It still looks good today. I would've thought something like the Special Operations Executive/French Maquis type game set in 1944 would've been good. Blowing up train tracks without being caught, sabotaging factories under the guards' noses etc.

We found at gigs in past some of the crowd can get a bit obnoxious especially if your down on the pitch or in the mosh pit😂, it's memorable nonetheless, just baffles me why they get paroletic before watching these things ✌️😅 We saw U2 in Dublin in the mid 2000's and the atmosphere was amazing and the crowd were mostly great, just the odd knob luckily lol. Think most of us older gamers started with either an Atari era console, 8bit Home computer, or both 😊. Loved the cassette artworks, them tape loading times were not great though were they 😂. Nice one 😎👍

Those Amiga and Spectrum game boxes are in nice condition (especially the cardboard Amiga ones, they are prone to getting scuffed and torn). Me and my brother (and dad) loved the Amiga, then went over to PCs at the turn of the millenium. My brother had Unreal Tournament 99 I think, and even though we didn't have the internet at that time and therefore couldn't play online, it was really impressive, great graphics (same story with Battlefield 1942, we never played it online! Got the internet just in time for Battlefield 2). Half Life was absolutely mind blowing, a massive step forward in gaming as far as I'm concerned, I don't think there was anything that could compare to it in the late 90s. It was the first 3D shooter where I thought 'yes, this merits all the hype and more'. I was never too fussed about Doom). I bought a PS2 in the early 2000s too, that was a great console, had some fun with it, but the ever increasing loading times as games got more advanced, relatively low resolution graphics and limited save game space meant that I mostly stopped using it by the late 2000s in favour of my PC.

I’ve got Thief and Unreal Tournament on Steam but still not got around to playing them 😂 Half Life is an absolute masterpiece and a must play! I enjoyed the expansion packs as well.

Jeez those people would have put me right off that night! Nothing worse than people thinking that they’re that entitled to barge in front of others! I’ve got Thief and Unreal Tournament on Steam but still not got around to playing them 😂 Half Life is an absolute masterpiece and a must play! I enjoyed the expansion packs as well.

The Thief games were the first stealthily games I ever played on PC, and I enjoy them all, you must play the original Unreal tournament, it's a classic multiplayer and single player game, deathmatch etc, with amazing gameplay, level design, sound and music 👍
And Half Life was amazing at the time it came out, 🙌 and I only played the main game , Counter Strike and Blue Shift which were good too 😊
