It's cool how at 8:20 getting hit causes the helmet to be visible. It's actually in your face obscuring your vision all the time but it's normally invisible because you're syncing up with the suit to see past it with sensors, but this clip shows the impact causing what is probably a desync which makes the helmet visible again. I can see why they decided not to keep that effect though, it'd be pretty frustrating having it pop up all the time.

Wish more people was open minded cus this has a great potential to be a good doom spinoff title.
Like the thing that interest me the most about that setting is that during the opening intro of Doom Eternal,we get to hear a distress call from which are probably the resistance group struggling and are beyond help.
and Judging by the footage and the characters of the cancelled game, those soldiers could actually pretty much be from the same resistance group.
I'd very much love to play this game personally, sure it no doom where you get full power fantasy and feeling like a badass.
But heck playing as a simple, vulnerable yet thriving soldier from the resistance surviving the very literal hell apocalypse is an actually amazing setting.
It could be the ODST of Doom Franchise,Just need proper writing, good characters and a solid gun play and you're pretty much good to go.

Not a matter of being open minded. Changing things for the sake of changing them is stupid and never works. Just ask 343 Industries. Nobody asked for DOOM 3 and it showed but it at least did some things right. Regardless, what people wanted was a return to the old style and thankfully they figured that out before releasing another entry no DOOM fan actually wanted to play.
Companies think they can trick players into buying their franchise no matter what they do with them but it never works. They think OG fans will buy no matter what so they're free to make changes to draw in the generic shooter crowd. They end up devaluing their game and destroying their identity and for nothing.

Would be interesting as you are an Average Joe compared to Doom Slayer who is basically an Angel/Saint, so it opens a Doom Spin off that does different things without compromising the Main Series Tone and Gameplay.
And it would be awesome to see Doom Slayer from the perspective of an Average person. To be honest, i would like to see another Doom game in Doom 3 style, or other words, in style of that cancelled Doom 4 that takes place during the events of Doom 2016 and Eternal, but you play as one of survived soldiers, and sometimes you watch how Slayer fights his way through hordes of demons, while you are trying to survive in that mess. That would be cool, in my opinion at least. Cause i like Doom 64 and Doom 3 the same as i like other Doom games. Thus, it would be cool to see another game like that, or at least a side DLC campaign mode for the next Doom game.

Same her. Though Doom 2016 at times were somewhat enjoyable, Doom eternal were not. The lack of exploration, and horror, made Doom Eternal into just a mindless shooting game. It reminds me of when ID software ditched the whole Quake 1, and Quake 2 story/setting (quite different games those, but that was a thing of the times back then) for a more mindless shooting game in Quake 3 Arena.

It may be something complex having to do with how the engine works or stripping down better but difficult mechanics. Perhaps it is always simply that the devs are unaware of the issues that the player base finds game-breaking. Great video! Here's my controversial opinion, for the next Doom game I'd like a game that kind of bridges the gap between all the games. Unlike most people I was a little disappointed with Doom Eternal as a follow-up to Doom 2016, now, don't get me wrong, Doom Eternal is a great game, I just feel like it wasn't a smooth continuation to Doom 2016 but something almost completely new, it almost feels like they skipped a game beteen 2016 and Eternal. So seeing how different Doom 3, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are, I kind of want a game that mixes all 3 of them. It could start with a Doom 3 vibe similar to how Half Life starts, trying to escape the UAC facilities, then we get out to more 2016 inspired maps, with open arenas but still kind of industrial and we finally finish in a more Eternal inspired place, full of larger than life maps. I don't know if this would work with the Doom community after Eternal, but I do wish that was a game.

This game would've been good, it'd have been a fun 5-7 hour campaign with a tacked-on multiplayer experience that gave you maybe a good week or so of gameplay. It'd score 5s and 6s, maybe a 7 here and there, but that'd be it "solid shooter with a demonic twist".
Instead what we got was a team who knew how to go above and beyond, instead, we got Doom 2016 which is a genre-defining masterpiece, a testament to articulate game-design, simplicity and focus on what needs to be achieved. A soundtrack we'll be talking about for decades, and one of the best soft reboots of a 90s franchise that's ever been made.

And sadly, I loved the MP, especially after the updates. Shame no one else plays it/likes it. The maps were great, the gameplay was great, and the vast amount of detailed and diverse items for character customization was amazing... and all unlocked through levelling and challenges. To me its a crime that the MP didn't do well.

    • @wyatt5291
      @wyatt5291 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@af4396 I totally agree with you, it was fantastic. I think it was misunderstood personally, maybe because of people being so used to regenerating health in other multiplayer games. You had to be on the move at all times, more so than the singleplayer, collecting armour & health to absolutely dominate the matches. The maps, guns and equipment brought so much variety, as well as the demon runes! It required skill but most importantly it was a lot of fun too. I think Battlemode in Eternal was astounding, 'combat chess' like id stated and they perfectly accomplished that but for me who'd be absolutely determined to win it was just too intense for a casual play and as a result ultimately didn't keep me coming back like 2016's MP. I applaud them for doing something different, pulling it off brilliantly but if it was accompanied by something a bit more casual I'd likely keep going back to Eternal.

Plus the melee combat looks so amazing for Doom 4. It looks way better than Doom’s glory kills. It such a shame it didn’t see the light of day,but the concept lived on. This game alone transformed into IDs Rage. Good to see this video of Doom 4.

i do kind of wish they still kept the engine from rage, and just built off it. it does such a good job at allowing level designers, and artists to make to distinct environments. aside from a few exceptions. i have not ever found a room in that game. that looked like it was completely comprised of pre made assets, and there were time's i felt like that i was walking through a painting. compare that with somewhere like urdak in doom eternal. which while the layout of the level, and the various rooms in it are unique, and is far from being a series of corridors. they still feel like they all blended together, because everything uses the same few textures, and details. with very few deviations like the pool with the carcass of the previous khan maykr in it.

Was this really all that you were allowed to show in regards to the cancelled Doom 4 because that was really lacking in content and was basically just recycled footage from early builds that we've already seen years ago tbh. The last build of Doom 4 looked significantly more polished than that before it got cancelled. TH-cam and Twitter user Crispies has actually done a better job content wise because he actually shows never-before-seen footage and assets to the public(artwork, Spider Mastermind model and animations, multiplayer footage, props, screenshots of the last build etc.)!
The Super Shotgun model in this footage in particular isn't even representative of what it looked like in the last in-development build of the game which was actually the model that Doom 2016 ended up reusing in the end, embroideries and all. Lol

Really love the look of the huds as time went on, the last one with the name of the weapon with an icon of it looked pretty neat reminded me of the GZDoom mod of Quake Champions that kinda goes with a similar style, it looks like a mix between the minimalistic post 2000's cyber style that Doom 3 had going on and the final look of the 2016 game.
Now for your question, its not a cancelled game but its pretty obscure nowdays noneless so i think it kinda counts? whatever i just want more people to know about this game called Deep Fighter, it was a remake of an early Criterion Studios game called Subculture that was a mix between RTS and a Descent-esque dogfighting submarine combat, Deep Fighter went with a more Y2K futuristic cyber style that almost looks like one of those fake videogames in movies, it improved quite a lot on both its RTS mechanics and the FPS ship combat from Subculture while also going the Wing Commander route of having exposition via FMV's, the game came out literally in the begining of the new millenia but to a very lukewarm fanfare, but the game is still quite interesting noneless, it was overshadowed by the more competent more action focused Aquanox franchise that funny enough Aquanox has a cancelled game on its own.
