Americans abroad! I've lived and worked in a lot of the Mediterranean coast for decades and the thinking that retired ex-pats bring with them is just amazing, Sicily (I've been there 40 times) is Sicily, it isn't some forgotten paradise, it's an island with a poor economy, nice scenery, a terrible climate, "interesting" politics and there are reasons why most Sizilians left. Visit on holiday sure, live there no chance.
Aren’t you funny!! We’ve lived abroad for over 7 years now and we’ve traveled extensively throughout Europe. I agree that the economy is lousy, but on the weather (outside of July and August) I couldn’t disagree more. And you said nothing about the people which says something about you. Sicilians are the most open, kindest people we’ve met in all of Europe and we couldn’t be happier living amongst them.
Hi from Forest Grove. My surprise to see your two smiling faces on you tube, your living the good life. A result of making some very good decisions no doubt. If I ever get myself to Italy I will try and look you up. I remember you used to tell me silly New Jersey, Italian jokes in your office. How are the kids doing? Max is living in Portland, married and fixing up his old house. He has a good job and plays drums in a band. I'm watching you.
Wife and I rented one of the little fisherman’s cottages behind the old church in Marzamemi facing the sea several years ago. One evening when walking through the main square an adorable little girl excitedly approached us shouting, “tutti animali”. Of course we didn’t understand exactly what she wanted but deciphered that she was asking us to sign her petition to save all the animals. Wonderful memories. Heading back in September for 6 weeks. Check out our favorite beach town Donnalucata.

Nice channel guys! We bought a place in Calabria , waiting to retire ( pretty soon) - We loved Sicily ... Especially the northwest (Cefalu, Palermo, San Vito Lo Capo, Macari, etc.)
If you ever want to drive into the interior, the town of Enna is really gorgeous. They call it the bellybutton of Sicily as it's smack dab in the middle. It's an ancient medieval town way up on a hill. The drive up alone is so picturesque. Then they have a massive castle/fort and medieval, and Norman, churches. I walked into one small place and had the best Amaretti cookies, and at another the best rice balls. Anyway,...super picturesque and beautiful views! The summer is hot and will stay that way until end of Sept. Favourite months are May-June and September-October. Your dried tomato's looked awesome btw!
Now in July there will be the "Notti bianche" or White nights on weekend where there will be music shows and shops open until late at night. It is now a tradition that happens every year in the rest of Italy too. Among other things, summer sales are starting 😃
My grandparents are originally from that part of Sicily. I've been there a couple of times when I was at the NAS in Sigonella. Thank you for sharing a slice of it with us, and I hope you find your happiness.

Exactly. Bugs and rats and farmers are constantly talking about that here. You have to keep things clean! You should have seen this place when we bought it. Infested! Anyhow, we will can what we think we need/want and give away the rest to friends.
People keep their land ‘clean’ because of wild fires. You can be fined if you don’t keep your land clean. You should ask your friends about wildfire committees, local people get together to help each other in case of an emergency. If you think it’s hot now, you haven’t seen nothing yet. Good luck 🍀

Sì, purtroppo l'ho imparato in Francia.

I just recently found your channel and have been enjoying your videos. My question is: how do you stay in Europe? Are you an EU citizen? I cannot find a video where you explain. I've considering leaving the US and been researching the last 2 years while traveling. My family is from Italy and I fall into the citizenship ability, but the citizenship process is taking several years. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
You have to watch them all. Twice 🤣 We applied for an Elective Residency visa. It was pretty straightforward. When we get our actual visas (soon) we will do a video 😊
@@beeseurotravel Thank you for the reply! I have been looking into that visa as well. I may be able to get citizenship through my grandmother who was from Abruzzo, but it's a long process with a long waiting list right now.
Thankyou 😊
You're welcome. But thanks for watching and commenting. It means a lot and keeps us motivated to keep chugging along!
Amuninni, yeah!
🤣👍👍
Same temps in Alabama lol
Yes 😝
I love your hair. So pretty. How is your grandbaby doing?
Thanks 😊 And great! Thanks for asking 😊
My family is from Sicily but I can't tolerate that heat in Summer. I'm a jean jacket kinda girl in Summer weather-wise. 🙂
Totally get it! We’ve always lived in northern climates but after 50+ years of that I’m willing to put up with a few hot weeks for the all of the rest of the beautiful, sunny weather here 😊
look into a bcs 2 wheel tractor made in italy
They look like glorified rototillers? 🤣 Are they any good? We’re going to put in solar panels next year and would love to find something electric but so expensive right now.
they are a motor, transmission that runs a pto
rottotiller is just 1 attachment, many more including lawn mowers bush hog other soil working tools generator chipper and many more
market gardeners love them and work acres
mine has been faithfull for 12 years
and no I'm not a salesman for them
@@stevebowman1645 That’s really interesting, Steve. I’m going to give it a hard look. Thank you.
Grazie 😊
Wait, there's a pool? How did I miss that??
🤣 Last week I think? It’s a little dinker but it gets the job done!!
It looks great! Love the way you just casually dropped it in the conversation 😂
How much? How much was lunch?😂😂😂
200 euros... 🤣
Green to brown; sounds like SoCal.
Yep 😊
You both look tan and healthy!
Sì, purtroppo l'ho imparato in Francia.
So sad about the new rez regs
Which part?
Great to see americans in Sicily, welcome !
Grazie mille. è bello essere accolti così gentilmente 😊
Lol everyone in Italy knows that to find something local you don’t use the internet you use nonne spettegolanti 3000 times more information
🤷♂️
“Gossiping Grandmas “
you'll know once it gets hot xD
For sure…
there is a terrible drought in sicily swince few months
Really bad. Farmers think that unless something changes drastically in our area we could run out of water here in September...
🤣🤣🤣 Sissignore!
