Buckin, I love the sound of rain and splitting wood - rhythmic! Reminds me of being the ocean (south pacific islands - Tonga that is) during heavy rain - nose barely above ocean and watch and hear rain drops into the ocean and bounce up and down while other raindrops are on its way down - no music better drumming than that...

I wish the fellers would have adapted your log length back when I was heating my house back in Northern Illinois. I was too busy ,so I bought my wood, ,and I swear I had to cut it all twice anyway😁, they were always too long to fit the stove. The ole' lady always snatched up the shorties.

Owned XL76 for years, cut a ton of wood with it. XL 76 was the best saw for the dollar back in the day. Ran it for 40 years, not pro but we burned 10 cord a year or better for years. When it cam time to replace it I went with the Echo. I don't cut the wood like I used to but this saw has been a good one too. Word of caution, wet wood is slippery, an axe can glance off and make a nasty injury. I expect you are aware of that and figure the risk is minimal but for the less professional out there, don't try this at home.

That 58 CC saw really does the job. I use older homelites a 54 CC Xl12 and a 58CC Xl automatic are my main saws. Just got a Homelite 101 and McCoulloc 610 need to get them running. Dont like plastic saws with loose vibration isolation. Ive bought new Huskys and own several of the stills and huskys. I dont think they will still be getting used when they are 50 to 60 years old. I will gladly trade running plastic saws for non running vintage metal ones.

Hey Buckin’ I’ve noticed you often run your powersaw 1 handed when buckin up logs, have you ever had a major kickback while one handing or does that not happen to you often? I know with softer wood such as pine and fir it’s less likely with a chain as sharp as yours but I figured it could still happen.
