Many slave owners in America held church on Sunday. Many times the slaves owners would allow the slaves to stand outside the windows to listen to the sermon. They were told that the Bible says to obey your master, and you would find salvation after death of being a slave. They didn't give slaves a Bible, because the slave owners were afraid they would learn to read. The next day Monday, you were slaves again. Until Saturday.

The missionaries had their eyes closed and exchanged the true treasure for what failed them. They lost everything and continue to lose, even the loss of their souls. Life is not made up of riches or property...these same men went into their graves poor and spiritually empty. Yet the African slave picked up the book and the Lord heard his cry for "Freedom" and revealed to him and his descendants the mysteries of God. Jesus Christ said the flesh profits nothing...Paul the apostle asked why do we speak of genealogies. None of those profit anything and are worthless. In the end one thing only will stand and that is the Word of GOD made flesh. Seek wisdom and with it get understanding.

Thank you for this video. I've always wanted to visit Addis Ababa Ethiopia and while there dream about making my way to Lalibela 400 miles away on not so good roads to explore the rock-cut churches. This is the first time I've seen inside of one of the churches. It's amazing to see how outside cultures affect what is on the inside. Western dollars have helped preserve the churches from deteriorating, so it's no surprise to see the Western influence like people who "donate" to college only want their names on college buildings and students' degrees in exchange for their "gifts". Thanks again for allowing me to explore inside a Lalibela church through your eyes.

I lived in Addis Ababa 8 months in 1988 and I trekked
everywhere. I spent 4 years in the north east 1981-85 mainly as a desert nomad going from Sudan Ethiopia, Somali, Eritrea Egypt, Israel and more.. on at least 4 round trips..on camel trains.. I speak fluent Arabic and easily confused as a Sudanese.

10:23 The word Christ come from a Greek language, our language Amharic has semitic origin similar with Greek and Hebrew. So in our language christ means "kerstos". We have been Christian before western nations(Europe and Northern Americans). So educate your self before saying something you don't know.
