- Last month, we had a chance to visited Me Thung Farm at Nakhon Ratchasima. This place is a big farm focusing on breeding giant rat and process for meat. Visitors can order frozen rat meat to cook at home or a meal at this farm. The owner is so kind and showed us how to make Roasted rats.

They are a species of rats found in rice fields, not the same one you find in the sewer or in the city. In the nature, they can even grow to the size of a small cat.
Thank you for saying now am feeling better ☺️
They are the same species as the sewer rats. You let go of them to the cities and they will live in sewers.
Actually they are the same rats 🤭
It is rats. They life in grass and are safe to eat. City dwellers eat McDonalds so they're NOT safe to eat. Jokes. Anything that moves.
@@Republicunt5555 No. Rice field rats belong to the sepecies Bandicota indica while sewer rat is Rattus norvegicus. They aren't even in the same genus. Rattus norvegicus can't grow to the size of a cat, but Bandicota can.

That break neck technique...brutal man, just brutal...smh
At least that technique won’t make the rat feel painful. It’s just died at one crack… but tbh even though I’m Thai, I would never eat that 😅
better than wrestling with it, stabbing it through the heart and watching it bleed out in horror.... like usually happens with say pigs.
knocking them out then snapping the neck is alot more humane.Think about how predators in the wild kill their preys for food, it's alot more painful I'd imagine.
It's not brutal at all. It's the standard method to kill small animals like rats or even rabbits. This technique is even used in the lab. It's called "cervical dislocation" or in simple words "breaking the neck bones". The animal will die instantaneously when the neck brakes.
You should see what they do to chickens at a slaughterhouse

These are farm rats, I believe they specifically bred them to only eat crops and farm foods

@@10.Years.Ago-_261 they feed them with dead animals
Да , люди все-таки прекрасные создания.
When i were young and still live in my home at the southern countryside, i used to ate a lot of them, they're the disaster you know. Swarming to eat your crop and grain that we stock, so we then paid them back by treated them as another kind of extra food source during crop season in order to control their population during the season to minimum a damage to the our rice field as possible. To hunt and keep them in specific area, we set a trap by pile up the straw like a small mountain near the fice field like we usually do when we collecting a grain. Basically we build a nice house and provide a food for them, and when their number reach to the point. Everyone would gather and burn down the pile and trying to catch the rat that manage to escape from a pile into a cage, some manage to run away and some got caught by us, some die inside the straw, because some of them would dig deep into the center of the pile for more comfortable and make room for the other, trapped inside and die because the lack of oxygen or burned alive by a heat or the fire itself. In the end after everything done, we'll got a two kind of rat, a one that still living and the cooked one that we've got by searching a pile after fire went out our when we decided to put it down with water(this one is hard because we need to bring a water from the river, so much energy needed to spended here in order to do this, so if someone that our village cherish like our elder who is great grandmother and share the same blood for almost everyone in the village ask for cooked rat that've been cook in the straw specifically, we aren't gonna do that). But most of them turn into the carbon that shape like a rat and far from edible, so the one that edible is like a bonus for us. (well we didn't trying to cook them this way in the first place, our point is to eliminate them) It might sound cruel for some of you who read this, but if we do nothing a let them eat our crop, we gonna have no more or enough main food source left. Killing them is nessisery to survive and opportunity for us to get more food.
And for someone who curious our concern about like is a rat was clean or carry any disease with them. Well, i think they did like the other wild animal, but not something like bubonic for sure, we tear their fur off and clean them in the boil water before we cook them like you saw in the video. And most importantly, we cook them untill we're sure that they're cooked. And as i say they were like the wild animal, because back then most of the rat around our village did live in the wild and eating a grain or the fruits (our grain to be exact. if there is no crop for them to eat, they'll raid our grain stock) sometime they're trying to invade our house. But when you seen them as a food, thing gone in a different way, when you heard their sound or you heard their foodstep. The protein is right there go and get it, so they're not like a rat that live in the big city and sleep in the sewer beneath the ground. We didn't eat this kind of rat that live in condition like that.
And lastly a taste. It's taste good, the volume of meat and muscle are just perfect for their sized, especially a both pair of legs. The one that been cooked in the straw pile were quite tasteless, but have a good smell of a hint of straw smoke, and everyone at that are have no idea how to made a nice dip sauce that suit a rat meat, so we usually rip a meat from the bone and stir fry them with a heavy and spicy curry paste. (this one is so good, a smell of smoked in the meat combined with hot taste from load of chili and long shape pepper that also give a unique smell not like the a ordinary pepper, so damn good, but sadly that all of the people who can cook this meal so delicious at this level are long gone) And for the one that alive and go through the preparation process, we usually throw them in curry like we did to the pork and chicken, but sometime we soak the meat in the coconut milk that've been add and mix with coconut sugar, salt, load of pepper and some herb like basil (if anyone curious, most of our meal or dishs that cook by my village people are heavily on pepper because we grow lot of them, in fact most of the dishs that led by hot or spicy taste in our village are led by a pepper not a chili, even the dishs that not supposed to be spicy are added with pepper we really like it, especially our great grandmother or my father who didn't eat or touch any dishes that've a chili and try to avoid it at all cause, but my mother who came from another village and some people in the village still cook a dishs that added a chili for me and my siblings to eat, so we didn't grew up hate a chili and depend on pepper like our father)
But for the organ part we just throw them away, they're too small, and a stomach full of the a small piece of grains that expand on their belly is disgusting even for us who eat animals organ extensively (it's look like a porridge, i'm sorry) we didn't even mind to collect them to cook and feed our pigs to save a grain. But some try to do it as he hate the chicken organ and always collect and cook them to feed his pigs, and he wanted to do the same with a rat to save a grain, but my father convinced him not to do so, even though the pigs didn't care what they've eat, but we who gonna eat them later did. So later on everyone in the village secretly observed him to make sure that he aren't gonna start his weird idea again.
Now that's one heck of an adventure
Sorry not gonna read all that but good for u
