Great review. Helped convince me this was the OP for me and so I recently picked one up on the secondary market as they are no longer available from Rolex. Want to add the following information I learned in my research on this model in case anyone else is looking into this Rolex OP 116000 Silver dial with 369 Explorer layout. The silver 369 dial variant 116000 was discontinued by Rolex somewhere before 2017 because this dial does not appear in 2017-18 catalogue. Also, there were some changes made to the 36 OPs in the late 2015 to 2016 time frame. The following changes occurred 1) The hour and minute hand became slightly wider and the minute hand is slightly shorter as it does not reach the outer 60 second track on the dial. This serves to make the hands more visible and the lume is easier to see 2) The inner clasp was changed from frosted finish to polished and the clasp release changed from hinged to spring loaded 3) The rehaut changed from an engraved outline of the ROLEX letters, serial # and crown to a laser etched rehaut which is more visible and appears to be filled in. I think it's worth noting these changes as there are two slightly different versions of this dial variant 116000 around and the latter was only made for a year or two before the dial variant was retired.
I've had this watch for about 6 months now, and it is an absolute joy to wear. I have bigger wrists at 7" but I think it wears so nicely. It's a fanastic everyday piece that can be dressed up or down, and I especially love that I get a modern bubbleback feel, so I also get that vintage itch scratched as well. Truth be told this video helped convince me to get it :)
Great video. I assumed i was going to get the blue dial because it looks so good in photos, but after trying on several different dial colors I chose the silver. 7.5” wrist and could not be happier.
I wear the 34,i was concerned about the size, was looking at the 39 but have no regrets.I wear it daily, probably should with my job so I can tell you it's tough and a work horse.
I do have an English accent (can’t say how cool it is) and do love coffee and I completely agree this watch is amazing. Picked up a 2012 mint condition and could not be happier. Keep up the great work.
Fabulous watch. Nice review. I would have loved to have seen it on a timegrapher. I’ll wear my Seiko SARB035 until I have enough money to toss into a fireplace. I love my 035, but I may wind up with an OP36 one of these days.
I've been looking for a Rolex that I can wear at anytime with it being as clean as possible and want this one to be smaller than 40mm as I own another watch that is 40mm (Seiko Blue Hole). I saw this video and it's perfect! Preferably wanted the Explorer but the prices on those are ridiculous and I found this one at a better deal and having it as silver is also great. Great review, bought my first Rolex and luxury watch in general.
You are a genius! I love this look, and, of course, this has the explorer look and quality. And, it comes in several sizes. Not quite as luminous at night, but still good.
I can't see this model on Rolex website anymore. Just blue one. They have with this dial, but 34 mm. I didn't find any article if it's discontinued. But if it is, it's a shame. It's my favorite Relex.
Great episode Mike! Beautiful watch and you’re so right about coming down from a 44mm to a sub 40mm watch, it takes a while for it to start looking acceptable on my 7.5in wrist. I’m starting to think my sweet spot is now 40mm, I’m coming away from the larger sizes as I get older and more understated with my style of watch
Hi Daniel, Rolex has discontinued this dial color. I have this watch for sale on my website at a great price if you are interested, www.justwatch.watch. Cheers!
Thanks for your responds. So you didnt like the watch not that much after all? Im currently in the market for either a rolex op 36/39 or a rolex explorer 39.
Hi Daniel, I love the watch, I am only selling it because I was offered a great deal on a five digit Submariner and would rather have that, need the funds from selling this to purchase it. Thanks
Very solid and wonderful review, like the rolex you have reviewed. It is kind of amazing how most of all Rolex holds their values and keep getting better every year. thank you for your review.
Great vid, chuffed to bits… I wear a 36mm explorer on 6.75in wrist; easily big enough. Note 904L is notoriously easy to scratch compared to proprietary steels, not the other way around worst luck!
Thank you for sharing your watch. I really like this watch. I have the Explorer I and I think your watch looks very similar. Do you know if Rolex makes it in a 39 or 41 mm diameter?
Hi David, thanks for watching and for the comment. Rolex does not offer an explorer dial version of the OP in anything bigger than 36mm. There is a wonderful 39MM Explorer, the 214270 that is available in 39MM however. If you get one, or go shop for one, I strongly recommend that you seek the MK2 dial. Cheers!
I did not see the silver dial 3-6-9 dial in 36mm at the Rolex website, have they discontinued in silver? Only see the 36mm blue dial in the 3-6-9 configuration.
I like this watch but the dilemma is the Tudor 58 is about half the price with that great inhouse movement. Just the same this watch with black dial would be a strong Explorer "value play". I wish you would have shown how the new clasp adjusts when you were showing the bracelet.
Hi Mike, thanks for the feedback, the bracelet adjustment is exactly the same as the 39MM Oyster Perpetual, check out my review of it in my Rolex playlist.
Hi Ryan, Thanks for checking in. Yes, they did discontinue the silver dial, no idea why. I've seen this version for sale on a couple of the better secondary market websites lately. Cheers!
Just to be clear about the chronometer rating: it isn’t done by Rolex. So, it’s not that it “never leaves the factory,” because it must to go to Contrôle officiel suisse des chronomètres (the outside entity that tests all Swiss chronometers). Roughly 3% of the watches sent to COSC pass and measure up to their standards. So, rest assured if it is COSC approved, you’re in good hands.
Beautiful watch. For what it is it should be more around $3500-4000. $6k is a bit steep. And 36mm is literally the perfect size. Can’t tell you how many people I know who swore they’d never wear such a “small” watch, but after putting it on wrist they were converted. Rolex’s 36’s wear more like 38’s.
I noticed that when I go from a large watch to a 36, that it looks small at first, but the eye adjusts after a day or two and that stops, then the larger watches look too big when I put them on.
Nice video, good shots and I never knew this watch existed. It looks a little like a silver dial Explorer. I'd love to see this in person. Not sure why you take shots TGV, but I'm guessing there's something there. This is the 2nd video I've seen of yours and it's a little off-putting.
I’m not sure if I love the new case.It seems less curvaceous and elegent compared with the old one.Its still a real nice looking watch and would be a great everyday wearer watch.Rolex in its most elemental form.
Hi Ron, thanks for the comment and watching. If you've not already, I would encourage you to try the 36mm on, with the slightly chunkier case size it definitely wears bigger than the traditional 36mm Rolex case. Cheers!
I own the same watch with dial and white indices, the so called japan limited version. didnt think much of it initially, bought brand new during 2008 simply of its scarce limited ~500 piece run. kept it in box, hardly wear it. until recent months, took it out and replaced with good quality leather straps and man it hugs my wrist so well and 36mm doesnt seem small. it's truly a fine example of being less is more. simple yet the quality is top notch. this is becoming my fav rolexs within collection.

Thanks for the great info!
Gorgeous 💙 just bought an Oyster Perpetual 36mm with gorgeous blue dial. Fits like a Dream and it is so beautiful.
That is the one I was dreaming about buying one day.
That's one of the ones I'm considering, how are you finding it?
I've had this watch for about 6 months now, and it is an absolute joy to wear. I have bigger wrists at 7" but I think it wears so nicely. It's a fanastic everyday piece that can be dressed up or down, and I especially love that I get a modern bubbleback feel, so I also get that vintage itch scratched as well. Truth be told this video helped convince me to get it :)
Awesome! It’s a great choice!
Great watch, my wife picked hers up yesterday and it looks gorgeous on her wrist....
Hey thanks for helping me make my decision! I just got it last week!
Great video.
I assumed i was going to get the blue dial because it looks so good in photos, but after trying on several different dial colors I chose the silver.
7.5” wrist and could not be happier.
Awesome, enjoy the watch, I really like how the silver dial changes color. Cheers!
I tried the silver one and had some slight issues with legibility in low lot areas. So I swapped mine to blue. Loving it.
I have 7.8" wrist and I'm torn between this or 39" version.
The blue dial of this watch is amazing to me.
I agree, I had a hard time deciding on which one to get, then I got a great deal on this one, so that swayed me lol
Venus Dee The blue dial wears smaller than the silver dial, visually.
Venus Dee I have the blue dial version, I chose it over a submariner and explorer 39mm. It’s absolutely stunning and so versatile.
The blue dial changes its hue depending on the light. blackish blue and sometimes greenish blue. Simply elegant single time.
Agree. I went ahead and bought the blue one and absolutely loving it
I wear a 34 op. Looks amazing, simple and classsic. I’m 5’8” with 6.5 inch wrist
6'1" and 6.25 inch wrist. 34-38mm is sweet spot.
I wear the 34,i was concerned about the size, was looking at the 39 but have no regrets.I wear it daily, probably should with my job so I can tell you it's tough and a work horse.
one of the best detailed review on youtube.
Thank you!
do u find sometimes the time is hard to read since the hands and dial are both silver?
I never found that to be an issue, sometimes the hands appear black, depending on the light.
I do have an English accent (can’t say how cool it is) and do love coffee and I completely agree this watch is amazing. Picked up a 2012 mint condition and could not be happier. Keep up the great work.
Great all around watch, looks a lot bigger than 36. Would not buy a watch that expensive but I got a seiko 5 that looks very similar.
The white dial version is beautiful. Understated and classic design.
Agreed, it's a great all around watch. Thanks for watching and for the comment, cheers!
Fabulous watch. Nice review.
I would have loved to have seen it on a timegrapher.
I’ll wear my Seiko SARB035 until I have enough money to toss into a fireplace.
I love my 035, but I may wind up with an OP36 one of these days.
A superb review, I’ve just bought the blue dial version on this watch, I reckon I got a good deal too.
You could probably say this is the ideal Rolex for a minimalist.
That's a great take!
A little jab at TGV bark and jack and Archie luxury all in one second lol great piece I love the 36mm op nodates
Me too, they are such classic, clean designs.
,
Hello did they ever upgrade the handset to wider hands? If so what year? Thanks
I love this Rolex
Great review! I just got my wife the same watch except she has the sunburst Blue dial and she absolutely loved it. Goes great with my new Submariner.
I just got this watch a week ago
I've been looking for a Rolex that I can wear at anytime with it being as clean as possible and want this one to be smaller than 40mm as I own another watch that is 40mm (Seiko Blue Hole). Great review, bought my first Rolex and luxury watch in general.
Awesome, thank you and congratulations on your purchase!
I saw the one with the pink numerals a few weeks ago in a shop. It's been on my mind eversince 🤯
You are a genius! I love this look, and, of course, this has the explorer look and quality. And, it comes in several sizes. Not quite as luminous at night, but still good.
Hi Tom, thanks! I saw this exact watch with an handset from an 114270 Explorer installed and it looked awesome.
Just Watch I love it! Actually, I love the glowing 3,6, and 9, which for years have not had luminous, too! You are giving me lots of ideas!
I can't see this model on Rolex website anymore. Just blue one. They have with this dial, but 34 mm. I didn't find any article if it's discontinued. But if it is, it's a shame. It's my favorite Relex.
Petar Poznić it’s on the website right now
Does this wear larger than the BB36? I’m torn between this and the OP41.
Wrists can be small but flat , or larger and round. The flatter type of wrist can wear a larger watch for the same circumference
Great classic piece! Would love to see a review of the white dial 36mm and 39mm.
I will see what I can do, hopefully! Thanks for checking in!
Excellent watch!!Less is more!!!li love your review!!!!!!
There was one with black dial for the Japanese market, limited edition...
The one with pink luminous?
No...had white lume. A NOS example just sold recently for $13k.
Is this better than a 114270
Great episode Mike!
Thanks Roger!
I have a 7.5in wrist and this watch looks just fine.
Very good review. Thanks
Thanks Min!
Any idea when your watch was made?
I ask because there seems to be two different hand styles.
Hi Austin, 2014 IIRC
Yes. In 2016 I dil mein released watch with fatter hands
Where did you get this version with the silver explorer dial? On the rolex website there is only the blue version for the 36mm.
Thanks
Will it fit good for a 7 inch wrist?
Very solid and wonderful review, like the rolex you have reviewed.
It is kind of amazing how most of all Rolex holds their values and keep getting better every year.
thank you for your review.
Hi Alex, thank you, cheers!
Great vid, chuffed to bits… I wear a 36mm explorer on 6.75in wrist; easily big enough. Note 904L is notoriously easy to scratch compared to proprietary steels, not the other way around worst luck!

John Tocho yes, it’s discontinued.
Thanks for all great vids and reviews you make
Thanks DR! I appreciate you checking in and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers!

Hi Mike, thanks for the feedback, the bracelet adjustment is exactly the same as the 39MM Oyster Perpetual, check out my review of it in my Rolex playlist.
Looks great on your size wrist! I have a 6.8" wrist so i suspect it will be similar to yourself!
Is this discontinued? Can only see the blue version on the website.
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for checking in. Yes, they did discontinue the silver dial, no idea why. I've seen this version for sale on a couple of the better secondary market websites lately. Cheers!
This is one of the watches I've been looking at, interesting video

Is this 34mm or 36mm? I looked through Rolex website and only can find the 3,6,9 dial on the 34mm OP.
Hi Voon, this is 36mm, Rolex doesn't offer this dial color anymore on this watch, only in blue.
@@JustWatchreviews yea I noticed they offer in blue currently. Thanks.
May I ask what your wrist size and wrist width is?
Got a 34mm version for my tiny 6'1/4 wrist lol. Looks amazing!
Hi, i bought a 34 mm silver 369 dial. I have noticed is a rare model, am I right?, is that good?
@@carlosperez-it4zm only if you like it!
Good video. Interesting option.
Hi Pedro, thanks for checking in, I think it's a really nice, understated watch from Rolex.
SunsetSheen look at the blue dial it’s right in that 3.5k - 4K price bracket and in my opinion looks better. I am going to purchase one soon.
JAK3Y is that the price for it new or pre owned? I’d be amazed if that was the price new.
SunsetSheen £4.1k new, that around $5k USD I guess
I hit that subs button :) Very nice videos sir
Thank you and thank you!
4:23 "scratch resistant coating" ?
Why are you taking shots at TGV?
And Archie and Adrian... just having a little fun bro, chillax
I feel the 36mm is to small after wearing the Citizens Pro Diver BN0191 or the Tudor Black Bay 41...
Lovely watch....
I like that it's very understated. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Love it.
I’m not sure if I love the new case.It seems less curvaceous and elegent compared with the old one.Its still a real nice looking watch and would be a great everyday wearer watch.Rolex in its most elemental form.
I bounce back and forth on the case myself.
The bracelet is way too thick and wide, does not appear to taper also. But I never wear cold steel bracelets anyway
I've never heard anyone say that about an Oyster bracelet, interesting. It does taper from 20mm to 16mm at the clasp.
Just Watch that’s great
What?
If this was in a 39 or 40mm, i'd buy it in a heartbeat. I prefer these hands over the mercedes.
Hi Ron, thanks for the comment and watching. If you've not already, I would encourage you to try the 36mm on, with the slightly chunkier case size it definitely wears bigger than the traditional 36mm Rolex case. Cheers!
This is the one.

What about a southern accent?
Rolex never claimed better scratch resistance, better corrosion resistance and makes for a better finish.
Rolex steel scratches easier.
I really enjoy the time only watches esthetically. But I don’t know... spending all that money for time only kinda seems nutty doesn’t it?
Hi Guitar, thanks for checking in, the beauty is in it's simplicity :-)
These six digit cases and the changes that they bring are old news. You're late to the party man.
Nice ladies' watch.
🤦♂️
