I think what you mean is that because you are looking into a mirror all the time instead of the real world, your grip on reality can start slipping because you would start to think "Am I real or is the person in the mirror real? What if I'm the one in the mirror and the real me is looking back at me? What if actually, it's not a mirror but a window into an identical world?" I've had two breakdowns in the past, based on this kind of idea of what is real and what isn't.

I mean yeah, a mirror might be distracting at first, but after a while it just becomes part of the scenery (Specially since it is a reflection OF the scenery). I have a double sink in my master bath. My girlfriend and I talk to each other through the mirror in the morning. The dog hangs out looking for the hair dryer since he seems to love it. He understands the mirror as well and looks at us through it when we acknowledge him.
