In the final talks while sippin' whiskey Dan's eyes looked a little glazed . That tells me don't play dare with Kikka , she'll drink you under the table. LOL . Interesting tour . I didn't know Scotch whiskey came from beer . Take care !
You guys are a really great couple! Such a connection doesn't just happen either. In your guys situation, your relationship is probably strengthened in ways the average couple cannot understand. You're not just partners, you're a team that relies on one another everyday (for your lives frankly) and that is a connection like no other.
The absolute only TH-cam chancel where the adds are now as much fun to watch as the content! Love how you tie it in to whatever is going on in the vid. Keep up the great work Kika!
No way! This couldn't have been timed more perfectly! If I finish the college and everything else comes to plan, in 2-3 years, I'm going to be sailing the seas. I'm writing this down, the first journey will lead me to Myken to sign the mighty barrel :D
You never know what adventure Dan and Kika are going to take us on. Today it was a whiskey distillery near the arctic circle. You are seeing things I can only imagine. Thanks for sharing your life with the world.
Your videos are like National Geographic episodes. Its hard to imagine how you will be able to make anything better than what we have seen of your adventures in Norway, but we all know that you will. It is why we clamor for your new video on Thursday. And you just keep sailing North. AMAZING! And Thank You.
A big thank you to you two for taking us through Norway. My days of world travelling are now limited and I never managed to travel in those parts. Few channels explore those countries. Congrats on the whiskey. I hope you have the patience to wait the extra two years while in matures and changes from a drinking whiskey to a thinking whiskey. Matching some of the Scottish single malts is a high bar to reach.
You are the only chanel where I don't skip sponsor part because you are the only chanel that not only do a lot of effort and thinkings on your videos but do the same for your sponsors. In fact ''vous ne coupez pas les coins ronds'' and keep a hight standard on everything you do. Keep the good work.
Kika's editing skills, comedy skills, selling aptitude etc at the end is fantastic! And whiskey made in sherry, port and Madeira barrels is far superior to other methods. Dang! You guys make the most incredible videos. The photography is amazing and so creative. The editing is superb, the music, always perfect and Kika’s new alter ego add format is just great, so clever. Why am I gushing? Because I’m starting a TH-cam channel and I know how much goes into these videos and I’m just humbled by what you guys do. Obviously I love them! Thank you!
I´m a Norwegian and I LOVE your videos from Norway! You are giving so much inspiration for places even for me to wish to visit i my own country. Great!
I love how you take me on vacations! I’ll never be able to see the things you two see in person, so I’m extremely grateful you sheare them with me. Also, your editing skills are out of this world! Other utube channels need to take note!
I have watched you both for a long time now and I wanted to thank you for the happiness and inspiration you bring to my world and no doubt to many others!
Wow Wow Wow. I don't know anything about sailing. But I just binged watched over 3yrs of this channel in less than a week. Am really hooked. Thank you both for teaching me so so much. ❤
I know I've said it before your Photograpic skills are award winning and I hope someday that you both are awarded a well deserved title. Signed Old Navy Photog.
I've said it before, you always make us feel that we are a part of your journey. This was excellent and I think Skill Share should be envious of your commercial efforts. What an outstanding video.
Living vicariously through you guys. This is the highlight of my week...🍿🥤 Dan and Kika, I learn so much watching your channel. From sailing to maintenance to culture. I had such a good time with the tour and then you go and upstage yourself with such entertaining Skill Share adds. I can't stop watching...Skill Share has to love you guys.
The electric motor is so quiet it's actually a bit strange not having all the background noise clipped out to remove engine noise while docking. Great video as always.
You both are amazing. That tour and interview with the head of the distillery was awesome. And once again your skill share ad was a home run - well done to you both, thanks for sharing, and cheers!
Tip for you Dan, when your opening a bottle of whiskey, rum, or anything with a cork, tip it over to get the cork wet and it won’t break and comes out much easier.
The timelapse of the sun going down and that ever so slight tide lift, achingly beautiful! Well done and great work! Norway is a treasure for sure, as are you two! Thanks for keeping me glued to your channel!
I do not see how this video or any others are not liked, such as the 159 that gave a thumbs down. Dan and Kika have come a very long way since step one. I have gotten some really good ideas for my own boat from watching their videos. Keep up the great work team Uma!!
One of the best investments you can make is whiskey, I’m Scottish so you can take my word for it 😉. My father invested in whiskey casks, buying when me and my brothers were born and selling them as our 18th Birthday gifts. He swears your money is safer in whiskey than it is in the bank.
Great videos guys. I'm Norwegian and live in KristiansUnd. I love the technical stuff and I also love everything else. Great to see videos of Reine (where I spend a season as a fisherman alone on my own boat) and I feel your pain, but it also brings back the good memories from 2018 when I was up there. I would go back any day and northern Norway is like day and night summer VS winter. Both has it's charm, so for everyone else reading this don't let the bad weather during winter scare you away.
After so many years you still impress me through your adventures. You still make me dream, impress me with so many new things that just show up and are so interesting and come up with new ideas like those 2 UMA barrels. You are just great, keep living your dream and sharing it with us to make us dream 😘
Very, very cool! I got introduced to single malt whiskey while, of course, traveling from the U.K. to Scotland, where I discovered 'The Vault'. I stayed at the Pitbauchlie House Hotel in Dunfermline. I loved it so much! Even with the radiator heaters in the very small rooms! I had a 25 year old Macallan shot given to me by the hotel proprietor at the very late hour of about 9pm (I called the hotel operator, he woke up sleepy, but told me to come down for a shot - he was unreal!) I was hooked. Later because I helped a company in England work with clients in Scotland I was gifted a bottle of Brora, which would be 43 years old today... but only if I had not drank it of course. I loved Scotland, and now I have a reason to love Norway as well. Thanks Sailing Uma... this was a really fun episode for me.
Well... I don't come here browsing TH-cam often. But when I do, I check out you guys. thank you for bringing me to dreamy places. You are inspiring my bucket list
The open glass storage house is clever for the distillery, if he is going to store some up there. The barrels have to get hot and cold and that process moves the whiskey in and out of the bbl wood and this adds the flavors and the color to the whiskey. That's not typically a day-to-day thing, but it might work.
What a refresher! After watching and reading an hour-and-a-half of news of the day... I need a cleansing. Something positive and happy. Thank you for providing it in spades. Wishing you Joy and continued safety. And I love that your boat is electric.
Killing it. I love content, I know it is probably hard to consistently put put great content, but every Step, and half step have been one improvement after another.
This was nothing like I expected based on the title. LOVED it. Interesting people in an interesting location and doing something unique with those people in that location. Maybe I'll end up with a bottle of your whisky one day.
Kika, you doing the skill share bit is the only time I have actually laughed while watching one of those, most I just FF through them. Very well done. Whiskey name idea: UMA Blue Nose Whiskey
Your best video yet ! Congratulations on your whiskey enterprise, A very informative explanation of the distilling process the guy really knows what he’s talking about.
I got sober years ago near the Arctic Circle in Alaska. At the edge of the Bering Sea. Out of whiskey, I contemplated crossing 20 miles of tundra to get another drink. Thanks to my off-grid friend I never had that drink. You see, I never learned to sip it. I figured there'd be no more whiskey tomorrow and we had to drink it all tonight. Enjoyed your video. Mast up. Keel dwn. All things in moderation. I return to that wilderness every year.
You may have missed a few in their former videos, starting in step #259: th-cam.com/video/xUJKR0dA3Tg/w-d-xo.html They have turned me from a fierce critic into a lover of "V" ads!
I'm not even mad when the sponsored clips run on y'all's videos, they are absolutely masterfully filmed and edited into the overall video! Much love from Seattle!
Artisan whiskey has become quite the thing, and that's something to celebrate! Not too long ago, I went on a whiskey tour here in San Marcos, CA and it was really interesting. In Scotland it takes 10 years to properly mature a whiskey because the diurnal temperature fluctuation is only 3 degrees. Here in San Marcos the temperature swing can be 35 degrees or more. Therefore it only takes four years to properly mature a whiskey, and if you use a 15 gallon cask it only takes 16 months! Whoopee, the sooner it's whiskey the better!
Super cool UMA step! I've entered cuts like that harbour entry on our boats and YES it is unnerving at times. The adrenalin runs fast and your senses are on hi-gain, to say the very least. The calm after the entry is so awesome though... Your UMA whiskey casks are a sensational idea! I'm down for a bottle when it passes the distiller's maturity approval. Cheers!
What a beautiful place, and a very educational video too, speaking as a former whiskey drinker, even your ads are better then other peoples, very amusing...
It has been awhile since I have caught one of your videos. I will have to go back and see what I missed. As always this was top notch, great cineography. Glad I checked back in. Thank you guys again for a great video.
The current in the cut!!! Excellent to have the greeting of the distillery manager first off!!! You guys have the luck of the ...... Epic idea to have the barreled whiskey and how wonderfully friendly the people and the tour! Once again you two locate, sail in and share interesting and beautifully stunng places! Thank you for the hard work!
Another FANTASTIC video!! So entertaining and informative again! Really love what you guys do and your lifestyle! Great stuff!! Best wishes from London England 👍💪❤️🙏😎🏴
Being Swedish, I’ll never admit anything in Norway is better than in Sweden but that Myken place looks really interesting to visit ... Because of the clear water ofcourse ... and the history of the barrels in that ... beerfactory, was it ?! Great episode, guys ! You can lose the Skillshare ads now. I have downloaded it, and all your followers interested in it would have too, so find something new we all need ! Stay safe !
Those two barrels don't have a chance...I think you are already sold out! When you reorder, I'll definitely take a bottle or two. Guys. your editing, acting, and interaction are again superb. Thanks for this.
Massive thanx, Uma from a S/V "Single Malt" - somewhat covidously stuck in Marquises, French Polynesia. Your Arctic Whiskey briefing made me drool in white envy,
You two have sailed that boat everywhere and i've always been envious.I sit here at work on a Saturday making sure people do there job(YAY) and watch your vids. I have always thought you should have way more subs. for the amazing content you provide. I thank you for taking me away from this dreaded place i work at (for many years). Stay safe.
When I started watching Sailing Uma......it was a long time ago. Dan is cute and all but Kika, was and is Beautiful. Y’all walk outside of time. I like watching very much. You seem so equally matched. It’s cool watching you grow. I like to sail too.
Yes! Great! Kudos to the full cast! You do listen to user feedback! Forget the great acting execution, video and script; you guys (We know Dan had a big, silent, bit part) deserve a most (captivating, entertaining, effective...) marketing award!
Who would have thought such an interesting vlog could come from a remote Arctic Island of 12 people. (And a big puppy). I never knew it was the Moors who introduced distilled alcohol into Europe. Brilliant as always.
I love the local content you've been creating lately! Such great exposer for these local places and what a beautiful way to cherish the culture of the different places you got to. Heading straight to that Myken youtube channel
I sailed to Myken two weeks ago where we toured the distillery and got to see your barrels🍻 Very nice island community😃 I have a video of the trip in my channel for anyone interested⛵️🐳 Keep up the good work UMA🙌
How ironic, I was watching this and thought, hey, I'm going to make myself a whiskey and ginger ale and not 20 seconds later, Roar said it makes a good mixer! It was meant to be. lol. Oh, and let me put my vote it for a name "ArctUma" Cheers!
OK! One of your best ever! I'm old as dirt (but still sailing) but if I'm still alive when you uncork those casks, sign me up for a bottle! Whatever the cost.
You guys are the best travel guide, designers, information shares, gutsy blue water sailors, and generally charming young people on the internet today. I love your tour of the Archtic Circle whiskey distillery, that is in addition to the tours of every other place of interest in the world that you have escorted us through. Someday, If you are blessed with children, you will have an infinite number of very cool experiences to share with your children. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure
“Oh no they’re sailing to an island with 12 people on it in northern Norway, this CANT POSSIBLY be another great mini doc about interesting, quirky, english speaking Norwegians, right? ...right??”
I can honestly say that Norway is the BEST place I have ever been to. A close second is Iceland. If I could, my wife and I would move to Norway today and never look back. I love seeing UMA go through Norway. There have been at least 10 times I say, "I've been there or I've done that or I've walked that same path."
Great way to support you guys.. I'm in. Thanks for sharing your journey. Life is transforming after covid. We think about the way we live and spend our days... Your example is a lighthouse for a lot of people. Stay safe, stay happy and keep streaming 🙏
Yes, a whiskey naming competition is a good idea: 1) Sailing Uma’s Binge watching bilge whiskey 2) Uma’s arctic blow fill you spinnaker inducing whiskey 3) Uma’s who left the fenders out again whiskey 4) Uma’s oops.. I must have shackled the foresail halyard to the leech whiskey. 5) Uma’s water maker vapor whiskey 6) Uma’s or Kika’s arctic silk dancing whiskey (you could do a great logo on this theme) 7) Uma’s aerial contortion silky whiskey. 8) Sailing Uma’s whiskey - guaranteed northern lights at any latitude 9) Uma’s Silk Dancing on the Northern Lights Whiskey. 10) Uma’s arctic bite yet smooth as ice whiskey
Ive never been this proud of 2 people ive never met. been watching this journey since step 1 . im in Awe of the progress they have made .
I , just tonight, am feeling the same....soo proud!!
Oh thanks!
Likewise!!
I'm texting yo0u from Brooklyn and I have to say, you guys are living out my dream. As a kid I had wanted to be an oceanographer, or at least something connected to the ocean, but that didnt happen. So to watch you two, young and robust, exploring the world like you are, lets me see that at least the kid dream was worthy. You have all my admiration.
While all other sailing channels are showing Caribbean and equatorial videos, you guys take us above the arctic circle to explore the delights of Norway. Kudos to a super competent first crew. Whisky? I got to tour a distillery in Scotland. This is Familiar territory. And yes, first, beer. Man... Best episode yet.
Think 'all other sailing channels' is putting it a bit strongly but, yes, good to see Uma in Norway (Scottish sailor here)! :-)
MJ Sailing was there last year. Delos was there 3 years ago.
Then there is Alluring Arctic - th-cam.com/video/8h41XnQcZ44/w-d-xo.html

That was easily the most enjoyable ad that I’ve ever sat through!! Skillshare… you’re getting a lot of value with your Sailing Uma association!
No way! This couldn't have been timed more perfectly! If I finish the college and everything else comes to plan, in 2-3 years, I'm going to be sailing the seas. I'm writing this down, the first journey will lead me to Myken to sign the mighty barrel :D
Good luck I hope it works out!
You never know what adventure Dan and Kika are going to take us on. Today it was a whiskey distillery near the arctic circle. You are seeing things I can only imagine. Thanks for sharing your life with the world.

I really look forward to your weekly episodes.
Thank you for sharing your world with us.

That sequence of walking up the steps was joyful, full of love and life affirming; it made me SO happy! You guys are cool together 5:43
Kika's editing skills, comedy skills, selling aptitude etc at the end is fantastic!
And whiskey made in sherry, port and Madeira barrels is far superior to other methods. Bourbon barrels are also used - the charring of the wood goes deeper in them. It has become common to use *new* barrels with a concentrate of 'sherry' flavour (choose your tipple) pumped in under pressure to impregnate the staves of the oak barrels. The burning of the staves makes them more pliable in manufacture and imparts flavour to the wine or spirit by allowing more penetration.
As an old man my info may be out of date - as a youngster I have watched barrels being hand made for the Scottish whiskey industry from sherry casks, where they thoroughly check the new barrels (old staves) for tightness etc. A very expensive process these days.
Thank you!

Wow Wow Wow. I don't know anything about sailing. But I just binged watched over 3yrs of this channel in less than a week. Am really hooked. Thank you both for teaching me so so much. ❤
I did the same thing. I adore the idea of an electric boat.
There are many tens of thousands of us that have done the same
Sailing channels do not get any better than this!
There is one problem with binge watching Uma. It is addictive. Then you have to settle down to once a week Uma. The withdrawal symptoms are bad!
@@nealeburgess6756 So true, wasn't so bad for me cause my binge watch was only 2 evenings (there were a lot lot less videos in those days)
Just plain... WOW! Thank you SO much for your weekly treat! Love you guys!
Absolutely the best sponsor segments ever guys. You just keep on being the best.

Your skillshare ads are getting better and better. She’s right, you ARE getting more creative! Haha! Also, This was a fun little visit to a distilery
You keep upping the "ante" in film making. Wow! Thank You again for letting me travel through your journeys. Fair Winds...

A credit to kika's humor and editing skills is that people actually still watch the skillshare part at the end because it's so cute!
I do not see how this video or any others are not liked, such as the 159 that gave a thumbs down. Dan and Kika have come a very long way since step one. I have gotten some really good ideas for my own boat from watching their videos. Keep up the great work team Uma!!
Being in Norway and sailors you should find some Linie Aquavit it's aged on a ship that carries the cask across the equator and back
One of the best investments you can make is whiskey, I’m Scottish so you can take my word for it 😉. My father invested in whiskey casks, buying when me and my brothers were born and selling them as our 18th Birthday gifts. He swears your money is safer in whiskey than it is in the bank.

The open glass storage house is clever for the distillery, if he is going to store some up there. The barrels have to get hot and cold and that process moves the whiskey in and out of the bbl wood and this adds the flavors and the color to the whiskey. That's not typically a day-to-day thing, but it might work.
I think that's the plan. You saw how solid that frame is constructed, to hold up a few hundred barrels.

The owner of the distillery, it's so nice to show you all of his work! Nice!!
You know two barrels is not going to be enough, right?
Well done you two..!!
Another brilliant episode.
Being an old moonshiner from KY, this spoke to me. It said "Hey, once he's making whisky as good as Scotland, he can step up to compete with Kentucky"
Another FANTASTIC video!! So entertaining and informative again! Really love what you guys do and your lifestyle!
Great stuff!!
Best wishes from London England 👍💪❤️🙏😎🏴
Fantastic...so interesting and what a lovely whisky manager!🙏
And THATS how to make people watch an entire in video Ad, AND make them wish there were more. BRAVO! 😁👍
Love from sweden ❤
Your Arctic Whiskey briefing made me drool in white envy,
Your posts are becoming better each time. And your sense of humour makes them good to listen to. Keep up the good work.
Very clever and well done advertising. I generally fast forward past any adds but your adds I enjoy as much as your main content.
What a great find!! So cool that you invested in a couple of barrels. I hope they come out delicious!!!!
I like that history lesson about distillery practices and the mention of Moors
Yes!
Your editing is sooooo good!!! It is very rare i enjoy ads but the little skit/ad at the end was brilliant
Great support for the arctic locals and the best commercials for skillshare that I have ever seen. Keep up the great work!
“Oh no they’re sailing to an island with 12 people on it in northern Norway, this CANT POSSIBLY be another great mini doc about interesting, quirky, english speaking Norwegians, right? ...right??”
I cant tell if you view it as a good or bad thing but i personally like them
Isn't the entire country of Norway a bit quirky to begin with?
@@LesterDFunk More like sane.
I can honestly say that Norway is the BEST place I have ever been to. A close second is Iceland. If I could, my wife and I would move to Norway today and never look back. I love seeing UMA go through Norway. There have been at least 10 times I say, "I've been there or I've done that or I've walked that same path."
@@Daaremikkel Its both in the best way possible. Sane in all that matters, quirky in all the rest.
You guys are awesome. Love that you went north when everyone else goes south!
Came for the sail, stayed for the Skillshare ad! LOL They just keep getting more and more entertaining.
Great way to support you guys.. I'm in. Thanks for sharing your journey. Life is transforming after covid. We think about the way we live and spend our days... Your example is a lighthouse for a lot of people. Stay safe, stay happy and keep streaming 🙏
Yes, a whiskey naming competition is a good idea:
1) Sailing Uma’s Binge watching bilge whiskey
2) Uma’s arctic blow fill you spinnaker inducing whiskey
3) Uma’s who left the fenders out again whiskey
4) Uma’s oops.. I must have shackled the foresail halyard to the leech whiskey.
5) Uma’s water maker vapor whiskey
6) Uma’s or Kika’s arctic silk dancing whiskey (you could do a great logo on this theme)
7) Uma’s aerial contortion silky whiskey.
8) Sailing Uma’s whiskey - guaranteed northern lights at any latitude
9) Uma’s Silk Dancing on the Northern Lights Whiskey.
10) Uma’s arctic bite yet smooth as ice whiskey
